About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

Owing to vasanth's interest in girls he gets into a situation of having to help one of the girls father in finding details about a well which is believed to be the place where raja raja cholan had kept some treasure. While trying to know about the well and going into details there happens twist and turns that leads to murder solving. At last what is there in the well and why that leads to people getting murdered is solved by ganesh and vasanth in their typical style.

The initial parts of the book were very good. The time at which this book was released there would have been less books which fall into category of thrillers with historic reference (unlike now). I can understand this story would have been unique at the time it was written, but right now since there are lot of books which fall into the category one could feel it to be boring that too in the middle portion.

Though it is a page turner, post reading the book when we think of the book as a whole, there seems lot of logic misses unlike sujatha. Typical interest, twist and turns are very weak. The climax though ties the knot does not have the impact of a sujatha novel.

In all it is a good quick read, go for it if you have not had light thriller read for long, if not u can move on without considering this.

Asusal sujatha's style of mixing science with thriller story. Ganesh and vasanth combo made this story more engaging and interesting. Good book to read.
