Sony Lab'ou Tansi (5 July 1947 - 14 June 1995), born Marcel Ntsoni, was a Congolese novelist, short-story writer, playwright, and poet. Though he was only 47 when he died, Tansi remains one of the most prolific African writers and the most internationally renowned practitioner of the "New African Writing." His novel The Antipeople won the Grand Prix Littéraire d'Afrique Noire. In his later years, he ran a theatrical company in Brazzaville in the Republic of the Congo.

Fascinating magical realist story, loads to unpack and wonderfully inventive language. In 125 pages it conjures up a whole living world with all its rituals and traditions and history and oddities. The plot itself takes a backseat and the ending is a bit abrupt unfortunately.

étrange étrange. difficile de donner son avis. séduite par une langue délicieuse d'inventions. drôle. délirant. humour impossible à qualifier exactement. une histoire abracadabrante. charmant. mais répétitif. un audacieux mélange de croyances ancestrales et de science un peu fumeuse. des personnages hauts en couleur, excessifs, exubérants. tout est à prendre au millième degré, d'où la difficulté à situer la voix.
