Gray werewolf Tom Silver is determined to find the wolves who have been attacking local livestock. While tracking the pack through the Rockies, a blizzard forces him into a remote cabin where he hears a plane crash nearby.
When he discovers the sole survivor is a beautiful female werewolf/coyote shifter mix, bound as a prisoner, he knows it's his duty to hide her. Now, they are both at risk as a search ensues for the missing prisoner.
Will Tom be able to protect this beautiful stranger while tracking down the wolves responsible for terrorizing the local livestock?
Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.
She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

Initial Thoughts: 3.5 stars. Wolves on skis! What I do enjoy about this series is that each book can be read as a stand alone book. The more books you read in the series, the greater your enjoyment will be as you pick up on some of the characters from previous books. I was a little annoyed with the wishy-washy-ness of the lead couple. Elizabeth was skittish, secretive, and understandably so. Tom pissed me off at first, however he did grow on me.
The Review: Wolves on skis!!!
Silence of the Wolf takes place in the picturesque ski village of Silvertown. The setting is perfect: the wolves run the resort town and work for all the local businesses. They even have lots of room to run when they are furry, and a fantastic ski hill for when they are not.
I enjoy Ms. Spear’s books because while they are part of a series, each book can be read as a standalone book. Don’t feel put off that this is book 13 in a series – go ahead and read it out of order. You’ll eventually want to go back and read the other books in the series, if only to catch up on some of the characters that cross over from the earlier books.
I love Ms. Spear’s wolves. The pack dynamics are fascinating. The wolves in this book have set up their own ski resort town and run almost all of the businesses and even work as the ski patrol. This pack is very much family oriented, doting on their young. They are also quite welcoming of other wolves, especially females. In this world, the wolves are segregated by color. The town of Silvertown is run by the gray wolves. Further south, the red wolves dominate.
The main characters Tom and Elizabeth were interesting. When Elizabeth shows up in town, Tom is assigned to accompany her. Tom is interested in Elizabeth, however he is not yet ready to settle down. Elizabeth is skittish, she kind of lucked into Silvertown unaware of its wolf population. To further exacerbate the situation, Elizabeth is half-wolf and half-coyote, making her an outcast amongst her surviving family and her local wolf and coyote packs. As a result, Elizabeth was quite secretive about her past and her reasons for being in the area. After an attempt was made on Elizabeth’s life, Tom begins to investigate.
Tom and Elizabeth have their moments. One of my favorites was the kiss that was filmed by a pack member and then the video was sold to everyone in town. It was quite endearing to watch the entire pack conspire to keep Elizabeth in Silvertown and play matchmaker for the couple. The romance was not easy – there were many bumps and misunderstandings along the way. I think that for me, the most annoying aspect was the fact that Elizabeth did not confide in Tom. And Tom had his stupid moment when he behaved like an idiot.
Silence of the Wolf was a most satisfying read and a solid addition to Ms. Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series. I always enjoy this author’s books and I look forward to reading many more of them.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for a review copy of this book.
Silence of the Wolf is book thirteen in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series. Terry takes us back to Silvertown territory where Darien, Jake and Tom run the pack and town. We get mystery, adventure and passion.
I really enjoy Terry Spear’s written style the ease in which it flows. How I can just get pulled back into her wolf series! I love the pack dynamics created in this series. They center on family, doting on the young and welcoming of others. The characters always complaint each other and I enjoy seeing characters from previous books make an appearance.
Silence of the Wolf focuses on Tom and Elizabeth. I loved Tom. Hot Ripped Alpha Wolf, but he also has a helpful and caring side. He’s not yet ready to settle down, but encountering Elizabeth and spending time with her makes him start to think and reconsider his bachelor lifestyle. I liked Elizabeth she kinda lucked into Silvertown unaware of the wolf population. She’s skittish and secretive about her past with good reason. To change things up she is also a mix-breed (half-wolf/half-coyote), making her an outcast amongst her surviving family and coyote packs. I like this change up, but I know some people will not like this aspect. I found it interesting, not the same old full wolf or human turns wolf love story.
I enjoyed the mystery story line as well as Tom and Elizabeth’s developing relationship. Yes there were ups and downs in the relationship, but it still worked. I did wish that Elizabeth would confided in Tom, but I get that she has had a hard time trusting with her background. Tom did have some stupid moments, but most guys do. The best thing about this series for me is the Pack. The pack was wonderful to read about as well as how open and welcoming they where of Elizabeth. My favorite part in this book was the kiss that was filmed by a pack member and then the video was sold to everyone in the pack.
Silence of the Wolf is a satisfying read in Ms. Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone, but you will have greater enjoyment with the characters/story if read in order. I look forward to more wonderful books from this author. I also recommend checking out her Heart of the Jaguar series as well. It’s as fun as her wolves.
Disclaimer: I won a complimentary ARC copy of this book from the author. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
I think this is the thirteenth book in Ms Spears popular Heart of the Wolf series and it's actually my second book by her. I discovered her at Christmas when I read a seasonal wolf story in this series and just had to read more! Although this is part of a series and mentions characters and events from previous books I didn't find it necessary to have read those first. This is easily understood and works very well as a standalone story so have no fears on that score. Tom Silver is brother to his packs alpha and as such it's his duty to protect their grey wolf territory and those in it. Something is not right though and strange wolf sightings are happening and valuable livestock is being targeted. It's possible that it's wild wolves but everything points to rogue werewolves moving into the area. He has enough on his plate without being told to babysit a female visitor but when he meets her something about her just calls to him. Elizabeth is no ordinary werewolf no she's a mix of red wolf and coyote and has spent her life being ostracised . She has travelled to Silver town to meet up with someone who can help her gather evidence about her parents suspicious deaths but she hadn't expected to be made to feel so welcome! Elizabeth has never met shifters as friendly as those of the Silver pack and Tom in particular looks to be a tasty treat! Danger is on the slopes though and Elizabeth is in it's path. The Silver territory is beautiful but can be deadly. Can she trust Tom or will he let her down? Elizabeth is used to being on her own but her heart aches to feel wanted. Is it possible for a grey wolf to love a hybrid? Or is Elizabeth's world about to come crashing down? This is definitely in a class of it's own. A fabulous adventure full of twists and turns and I was surprised just how engrossed in it I was! Time just passed by so quickly as I read this book! As the story progresses the relationship does too but it took a surprising turn when the heroine left town ( no spoilers). It's a relationship that builds up in passion but it's clear from their first meeting that the couple are very attracted but not everything is plain sailing particularly when it comes to mates and bonding! I did enjoy this story and it's full of interesting side characters to add to the proceedings. As usual Ms Spears writing is of an excellent standard although as it's about werewolves I would have liked to see more about their inner wolves but maybe the hybrid issue seemed more important to the author. I have to be honest and state that it made me think about prejudice and how we deal with others who are different and I applaud the author for her unique approach to this touchy subject. Fabulous world building and at times it could have been a contemporary romantic suspense as the plot was very well thought out. So even if you are not usually a paranormal fan I feel this book would be a pleasure to read. I will definitely keep looking out for Ms Spears books and happily recommend this.
Being a long-standing fan of this series, and others by the author as well, I enjoyed every second of Tom’s story, even though there was certainly some serious drama and heartache. I loved seeing Tom and Elizabeth interacting with each other and the others in the pack as well. The pack is like one huge family, with wit and teasing, love and loyalty, and the best of all is that they never let each other down in the hard times. Elizabeth comes to count on the rest of the pack as much as she does Tom, for the first time in forever allowing others to support and aid her in life. There are fireworks between Elizabeth and Tom even in the most unlikely of situations and when they finally give in to the passion between them there is no denying the fire that they start. The truth surrounding Elizabeth’s past was sad but not surprising because even though they are shifters, they are human and can be lead by greed and jealousy and be just as treacherous as the rest of the human population. We get to see several previous couples come into this story, in different ways and see the whole web that links some characters I’d either forgotten were linked or never realized the connection. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next in the series, but I know that no matter what comes next I know I will enjoy it immensely. The Heart of the Wolf lives on and will always be one of my favorites. for full review see my blog at: http://romancewitchreviews.blogspot.c...
I enjoyed this paranormal romance with plenty of action and a theme of how fulfilling it is to be a part of a loving family or community but the heroine was inconsistent when she pulled in or pushed away the hero and some of the events were too coincidental to be believable. Pack leaders brother werewolf Tom is asked to escort visitor werewolf/coyote shifter Elizabeth around the werewolf run town.
God! I wanted to love this book! Terry Spear was one of my favorite shifter authors!
The story was great!!
Elizabeth comes to the Rockies to do an article for a newspaper back home in Texas. She is 1/2 red wolf & coyote were... She is also there to get evidence from her a friend about her hater uncle who wants to kill her because of her coyote half. She suspects he killed her parents. Her hotel room gets broken into, she gets pushed down a ski slope & kidnapped.
Tom Silver is an Alpha gray wolf. His brother is the pack alpha. He is also a ski patrol dude (like my terminology?)Anyway, he is working when Elizabeth gets hurt, already having a thing for her & he's hunting for a few wolves with no scent who are stalking their territory...
Then she runs... Fate has it, she's back. They are stuck in a cabin together in a blizzard & the story is great...
This story is good... could have done without the coyote bombshell & made it totally separate, but NOOOO! Otherwise, this book was truly good...The descriptions were great, the storyline great, HEA great... The revamping of characters make-up?? TOTAL BOMB!!Why ruin a good thing! It's like making vampires part zombie... DON'T DO IT!! AHHHHH!!
I am crushed! One set of wolves now has coyote DNA! I HATE coyotes!! The issue was well addressed in the book, but still, I hate them! They remind me of Hyenas!! Have you heard them? They sound like them too! Coyote loners sneaking in doggie doors in California tearing up small dogs in your house (people I baby sat for), eating your small lost dog or your cat, or treeing your cat so high you can't ever get it down, a coyote luring your dog out to play, so it can get ambushed by the others... I've seen & heard it! Ruins the romanticism in the coyote all together. It totally killed my perception of one whole breed of wolf in this book! I swear I almost cried! Coyotes are NOT beautiful like wolves!! Women can pass as coyotes & get away with it. Strong Alpha pack leaders... No WAYYY!! Sorry!!
Silence of the WOlf is the 13th book in this series. I was lucky enough to discover this author back at the beginning if her writing this series. I have enjoyed each and every one of them. I especially liked this one. It is Tom's story. He is the youngest brother, one I have been anxious to read for some time. The chemistry between the two main characters is steamy but still very believable. THis author has a way of writing that makes the lives of the characters seem so real, in spite of the paranormal nature of the characters involved. I always feel as if I have been given a complete story when I finish one of her books while at the same time she makes me ever so antsy knowing I will have to wait for the next one.
It was okay but nothing special. There was too much insta love which I know is a feature of shifter books but I didn't buy it here. The heroine's character was all over the place. The plotting was pretty loose in places. The whole thing with the cousins was pretty silly. I've read most of this series but there are an awful lot of authors out there who I haven't tried so I may be moving on.
Silence of the Wolf gets a 3.5 rating from me. The plot is a good one, the characters are credible, but the romance needs a bit of work, in my opinion. still, very good book. must read the rest of the series now
Constant whining about her past and a weird, convuloted storyline that makes no sense in the real world or fantasy one. The last 40-50 pages were extremely tedious to get through. Maybe author should have stopped at book 12???
I ended up with this book after a white elephant, so I never expected it to be any good. However, even my extremely low expectations were not met by this terrible book. The writing was so bad it was appalling. It was super repetitive with similar wording appearing multiple times on the same page or in the same paragraph. Sometimes it felt like the author plugged a word into the thesaurus and wrote her top three favorite synonyms into the same sentence. Another major issue was the extreme levels of detail for things that were completely irrelevant. Here is an example quote to explain what I mean: “Silva pulled a phone out of her picket, turned it on, smiled at it, then shut it off and tucked it back in her pocket.” Please tell me in what world that sentence needed to be in the book. The author spends way too long talking about things I couldn’t care less about, such as dissecting who was an alpha and who was a beta and the traits that led to these conclusions. I didn’t need multiple pages describing the same story of something that just happened over and over. The end of the book was chock full of long-winded and repeated stories. Besides these issues, the writing style is generally just very convoluted, and the dialogue is super unnatural. The characters were the most bland people you will ever meet. They had very few personality traits and did not grow that much over the course of the book. Their relationship was also terrible because they go from meeting to complete and utter devotion in the space of a few days. They literally decide to spend the rest of their lives together without knowing each other for a week. The level of sexism that this book spews out is another massive flaw of the book. It was pretty disgusting that the only reason these characters met was because Tom was assigned to protect Elizabeth just because the was a single woman who came to their town to ski. To quote the book: “A male wolf just hitting the slopes, or a mated couple or family, no big deal. But since she was an inmates female who planned to hang around longer than a day, Darien would want to keep tabs on the situation.” Throughout the book, Elizabeth is a character who always needs to be protected and who practically can’t do anything for herself. All of the men characters must protect the women all the time. It’s exhausting to read such about backwards thinking. The idea of parenthood is also heavily pushed on all characters in a couple, pressuring everyone to comply with their heteronormative ideals of a perfect family. The only thing that kept me going to finish it up was the fun I was having writing jokes and insults in the margins. I will say that this style of book is completely outside of what I would ever typically consider reading, so someone who likes this genre might enjoy it, but I really pity anyone who tries to read this. It’s simply awful.
Elizabeth, a mixed wolf-coyote shifter, is a loner who is unwelcome in either her mother’s coyote pack or her father’s wolf pack. Tragically, her parents were murdered by her uncle and half-brother, leading her to retreat into hiding. Tom Silver, a determined, on a mission to apprehend the wolves responsible for the attacks on local livestock. During his tracking expedition in the Rocky Mountains, a blizzard forces him to seek shelter in the family cabin. Upon hearing the sound of a plane crash, he discovers the sole survivor, Elizabeth, who is bound as a captive. As Tom delves into the mystery of the livestock attacks, the wolf pack unexpectedly shields Elizabeth from her uncle and half-brother.
Was a really good quick read. [took me long because I'm at college]
Keeps you wanting to read it and find out what happens to the characters.
I LOVED Tom, he was my favorite character and always kept me on the brim of tears at some parts.
If you're looking for a good read during a reading slump I recommend this book and just Terry Spear the author in general. I currently have 7 of her books all from my local half price and I can't stop buying them.
Half coyote/Half red wolf Elizabeth grew up ostracized by her parents pack, made worse after her parents murders. She's been a loner ever since. She's amazed that Tom and his pack seem to accept her so readily and protect her as she has been attacked. Tom's not looking for a mate but he's immediately attracted to Elizabeth.

I am loving this series! I love the Silvertown pack, and all the different characters. Even though each book deals with a specific pair who meet, and the challenges they are facing... I enjoy when their lives intermingle with others in the pack. Terry Spears is quickly becoming a new fave author for me. :-)
Just loved this book! I loved how Terry Spear incorporated a half breed person into her stories. Everyone has either been turned or born as they are but never a half wolf, half coyote before. It's amazing! I also love how even though you may be have of one thing and half of another, there will always be people who love you for you and that is what Terry Spear has incorporated into this book!
I have to say this is probably some of the worst writing I have read in a long time. I don't know what my expectations were as I've never read the series but by the 6th page I texted my mom and said oh my God I am far better writer than her. The only thing I'm grateful for is that the book was given to me and I didn't have to pay for such drival.
That sucks that stupidity is still around cause they r prejudice over things in denial cause they r 2 damn lazy 2 admit the truth on things!! Tom went 2 help a guest and came away with alot more than he bargained 4. but it is good or bad? It seems lime a little bit of both. When things go badly tom and his brothers always knows what 2 do. It was really good.
Cute is there a coyote shifter series I know that in the past two books she is given nods to her jaguar shifter series. This was pretty good although my favorite part small as it was was Sam and Silva finally although I was hoping they would get their own book or at least a novella please ?
This book had some elements that probably were explained in other books that proceeded it, but since I started here they were times I was a little perplexed. The mating thing was a little odd. I thought the story was interesting though.
SILENCE OF THE WOLF by Terry Spear, book 4 of Silver Town Wolf has it all: romance, irresistible chemistry, action-packed adventure. SEAL WOLF PURSUIT is another romantic wolf story included as a bonus story.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable paranormal romance. I have not read any other books by her, but I didn't feel at all lost or confused. Even though this is the middle of a series. I believe. It very much reads as a standalone . I will definitely be picking up more of her books in the future.
Non-stop action, thrilling suspense and danger intertwine in this delicious paranormal romance that you won't want to miss! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:
Silver Town is werewolf territory, unbeknownst to the human farmers in the area. Seeing wolves around their calves and sheep on the different farms, they contact Darien Silver, the pack leader and owner of the land that the farmers have leased. However, it has been three weeks now and nothing has changed. Tom Silver, Darien’s younger brother, is desperate to stop the wolves, but he doesn’t believe it is either real wolves or the local werewolves. In his opinion, rogue werewolves are in the area and this spells danger to humans and the local shifters alike. After the latest report, he tries to follow the tracks, but with the snow rapidly coming down and covering the tracks, it proves difficult. Still he does catch a glimpse of a gray wolf before he is forced to return home, vowing to catch them next time. Tom is not happy when his brother contacts him to escort and watch over a magazine writer who has arrived in town…until he meets her.
Elizabeth Wildwood, part red wolf, part coyote shifter, did not find acceptance with her own family after her parents were killed. Her half-brother and uncle are out to kill her, believing she is tainted goods since she is not completely red wolf. Not even the coyote shifting half of her family accepts her. She is in Silver Town ostensibly to do a story about the Colorado ski resort, but in reality, her main reason for being there is to meet North Redding, a shifter from her past who claims to possess the proof she needs to put away her uncle and half-brother for killing her parents. With them in jail, she will be protected from the death threat they represent to her. However, when someone pushes her off the snowy mountain, Tom comes to her rescue, and the sparks soon begin to fly.
Tom’s two brothers have already found their mates and he longs to find his, but it seems hopeless. So he is delighted by his connection to Elizabeth and longs to keep her by his side. But Elizabeth is not used to being able to trust others and is startled at how friendly the townsfolk are. She would love nothing more than to settle down in this community with Tom, but is afraid to get close to anyone. She also does not want to bring danger to those who have opened their hearts and homes to her. So she leaves Silver Town before she brings harm to them. But when she is subsequently kidnapped and ends up in a plane crash, Tom comes to her rescue once more, determined not to let her get away this time. Can he save her from her murderous family? Will she stay with him or run again?
An action-packed paranormal romantic suspense, SILENCE OF THE WOLF, the thirteenth novel in award winning author Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF series, will sweep you up into the storyline right from the very first page. Tom and Elizabeth are both alphas and there is an undeniable connection between them. Before long, they are heating up the pages as danger pursues Elizabeth. Not only is her family in the area, there is also the question of four brothers who were once part of the pack until Darien killed their father. Are they the ones behind the missing livestock, or is it her uncle and half-brother? Are the brothers back for retribution or for some other reason?
With non-stop action, thrilling suspense, danger, a beautiful setting, well-drawn characters, this story will keep readers guessing right up to the very satisfying ending. The secondary plot of the four brothers also provides additional depth and appeal to the story. Although this is the thirteenth novel in this series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Since the first time I picked up one of Ms. Spear’s books, I have been a fan. She never disappoints and keeps the adrenaline steadily climbing with each book. If you are looking for a terrific story with plenty of the paranormal, mystery, romance, humor and heat, look no further than SILENCE OF THE WOLF. A wonderfully entertaining novel!
Terry Spear takes readers back to Silver Town in the thirteenth book in the Heart of the Wolf series. Readers of the series will love this very original addition to the series featuring a wolf/coyote hybrid. Spear once again entrances readers with her action packed, romantic writing. This paranormal romance has plenty of suspense and willhave readers on the edge of their collective seats, as Tom Silver, youngest of the Silver brothers finally finds a woman he can't live without. A great addition to this wonderful series.
What I liked:
Thirteen books into this series and it is still just as exciting and memorable as the every first book. That is remarkable! I usually think that a series needs to end somewhere around ten books because at that point the overall story arc's are starting to lag. Not so, with this series. The Heart of the Wolf series was one of the very first paranormal series' that I ever read and I have honestly loved every single book. Spear has a bag of tricks that most author's can't even guess at. Because of her military background, her wolf books featuring SEAL's are fantastic, because of her Scottish background her highland wolf books are spectacular, and because of her impeccable research into wolf behavior and dynamics, every single book she writes about werewolves has a ring of authenticity that is hard to deny. Basically, she's a phenomenal writer. Whether it's wolves or fae, or jaguars, she has the write stuff!
Tom Silver has been one of my favorites from the very beginning of this series. He is brother to the alpha of his pack and that comes with a lot of responsibility. He is a protector. He looks after Darien's interests whether it is in pack matters or business and he even takes on the role as an enforcer in some cases. I was so happy to see him finally get his story. Spear has done such a wonderful job of fleshing out her characters in every book they show up in, that readers by this time, really feel like they know Tom and the kind of woman it will take to make him stand up and take notice. Spear does not disappoint with Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is unlike any other character we have seen in this series so far. She is a hybrid, part wolf, part coyote. And because of that she has suffered a great deal. She has been discriminated against, shown prejudice and eventually this caused her to believe that pack life is not for her. I felt a lot of pain from this character in some ways and I just wanted to comfort her and let her know that it was okay to be different. I thought that Spear really approached this touchy subject in a way that will educate readers about prejudice and it's effects. Elizabeth finds a lot of love not only from Tom but from his pack that surprises her and changes her in some ways. She becomes more confident in herself and finds her own self-worth. Such a great character!
The romance between Tom and Elizabeth isn't all fun and games though there is definitely a bit of that in any Terry Spear novel. Had the characters in this book not been werewolves it would have been categorized as romantic suspense. It is action packed to say the least. Not only is the relationship between Tom and Elizabeth at the forefront of the book, but there are also some dead bodies, about, a few rogue werewolves causing some trouble and the mystery involving the deaths of Elizabeth's parents. All in a good days work for this author. And very well done.
What I didn't like:
As with most of the books I have read by this author there wasn't a thing I didn't like about this one. Elizabeth had a bit of a stubborn streak that got a little annoying once or twice, but being the character that she was, that was not unexpected.
Bottom Line:
If for some unfathomable reason you have not discovered this series yet, you need to buy this book. It can be read as a stand alone, but the entire series is exceptionally well written and worth every second of your reading time. Silence of the Wolf may be book 13 but it is just as amazing as book 1 was!
REVIEW: SILENCE OF THE WOLF is the thirteenth instalment in Terry Spear’s adult Heart of the Wolf paranormal series and can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty or confusion. Many of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles in this particular novel but their history is not as important to the overall premise.
SILENCE OF THE WOLF follows photographer and wolf-coyote shifter Elizabeth Wildwood as she is on the hunt for the people who killed her parents. Shunned for her hybrid genetics, neither the wolf nor coyote families would accept her breeding, Elizabeth begins her search in Silver Town, near the Rocky Mountains. What Elizabeth doesn’t expect to find is the man who would one day be her mate-Gray werewolf Tom Silver-brother to the local alpha.
The story finds Elizabeth the target of an unknown threat. Attacks, theft and an abduction all point to random acts but Elizabeth knows there is someone hoping to remove her permanently from this life. Enter Tom Silver-her hero and the man who would die to protect his mate.
The relationship between Tom and Elizabeth is slow to build. The attraction is mutual; there is none of the angst of rejection of not wanting a mate; but there are secrets from Elizabeth’s past that continue to haunt to daily life. Terry Spear writes a storyline where the leading couple are mature enough to realize when they have found the one without the anxiety of rejection and hostility towards a happily ever after.
Terry Spear pulls the reader into a Rocky Mountain adventure through the snow covered forests and the backwoods of Silver Town, USA. There is action and suspense; hatred and love; betrayal and forgiveness. If you like a storyline with a little romance, a little sex, a little suspense and a whole lotta shifters, SILENCE OF THE WOLF and the Heart of the Wolf series by Terry Spear is a welcome addition to any personal library.
Anyone who skips over author Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series because it’s listed as a paranormal romance is missing out on stories packed with depth and intrigue, fascinating characters, stirring surroundings, and heartwarming relationships.
In the latest installment in the series, SILENCE OF THE WOLF, Spear tackles issues of sibling rivalry, family outcast, and finding acceptance. She shows how some families pull together giving love and support, while others turn on each other thinking only of themselves.
Since the death of her parents, Elizabeth Wildwood has been on her own. Her half-brother and uncle want nothing to do with her because of her ‘mixed’ half-wolf, half-coyote blood. She is willing to risk everything, including her life, to get the evidence of who killed her parents.
Elizabeth ventures into gray wolf territory for the evidence and to write an article on the Silver Town Ski Resort. She finds the town is wolf-run by the Silver brothers and their pack. Her encounter with sub-leader Tom Silver is life changing.
The last thing Tom Silver is interested in is finding a mate and settling down like his brothers. When he has to escort Elizabeth to the slopes for her article, he discovers her scent and memory linger with him long after she’s gone.
When it appears Elizabeth’s life is in danger, Tom and his family are there to protect and help her. It’s a strange new concept for Elizabeth to have someone in her corner. She has to discover who killed her parents and if she can trust someone loves her for who she really is.
The story is heartwarming and funny. It’s filled with suspense and steamy romance. It’s a mesmerizing story of love, family and friendship that will have you believing in wolf shifters. The characters are likable and realistic. The story moves at a quick pace and is hard to put down. Spear has incorporated her vast research of wolves into this tantalizing tale. Her rich descriptions of the setting brings the town to life.
SILENCE OF THE WOLF is the 13th installment in the Heart of the Wolf series, but can be read on its own. New readers to the series won’t be left in the dark and returning fans will be able to catch up with old friends from past installments.
The romance is sizzling, the characters charismatic, and the plot suspenseful for an entertaining, heart-pounding, page turner that will hold you captive until the very end.
