Amina works as an executive in a state-of-the-art IT company. She joined that company right after getting her degree and progressively climbed up through the ranks. Greater responsibilities also imply greater pressure. Amina spares no effort working overtime. And it’s not unusual for her to leave the office around midnight. But strange events will occur on a stormy night…
A complete story, as a tribute to josei manga. “Lady” Collection, comic book, 32 pages.
Non so esattamente come valutare questo fumetto, voglio dire, sono stati cinque minuti di lettura piuttosto insignificanti. Il messaggio è bello ma è di una banalità estrema, i disegni sono anche carini in realtà.
This was a weird read. It was quite short and I read it in ca. 5 minutes but could have done without reading it. It's not bad, the art is pretty good but the story feels a bit pointless. The message is... interesting but considering the message it was going for, this manga was way too short and too flat to really be able to carry it off. I'd recommend if it you're bored and want to see some pretty pictures and feel like you've read something but I wouldn't recommend it for the story itself.
The 2 stars are more for the illustrations than anything else. I wouldn't mind reading a manga by the same artist again (after all, I did like the illustrations), if only the story is a better one and better executed.
Short but very sweet. I'm so glad I decided to get this book on the Kindle book store, it was well worth downloading, and I'm feeling quite positive about things after having read it.
This is a great story and one that we can probably all relate to (at least to some extent) as work becomes an ever bigger part of life. Amina has become a workaholic and finds herself working late (yet again) when strange things begin to happen, at first she can excuse them away but then the real power behind the events makes itself known and her life is never the same. The story and illustrations are beautifully simple, allowing Amina to tell her story all the clearer. Let this story be a warning to us all (as if I needed a reason).
Workaholic was free on Amazon and since I'm trying educate myself in graphic novels and comics, I thought I'd give it a go. This book took less than five minutes to read and I'm glad. Had it taken any longer, I'd have felt as though I had wasted my time. Workaholic does it's job of portraying a message, that much is true. Being so short and to-the-point, the message is obvious and very clearly stated, but the book does little more than that. Being translated to English, it does make me question whether something was lost in translation, but the story is so short, I doubt it was any better in it's original language. We know next to nothing about the characters, other than the one piece of information needed to deliver the message and there is no interesting plot or storyline. The illustrations were probably the best aspect of this graphic novel and even they were average at best. The premise of the book had potential. With a little development, this book could have been good but as it was, it just wasn't.
2.5 stars basically because it's not bad, but it ain't that good either. I liked the artwork (slightly manga-ish drawing style) but the story felt poorly written, a bit weird and almost pointless. Yes, it does portray a clear message, which I did find very interesting, true and relatable, very in line with today's modern society way of living/working (which is a blurred line most of the times). I found the way they choose to portray said message interesting, but again poorly developed, which then made the whole story just fall flat for me. A very quick read with not much substance, very simplistic. On the plus side, it's free, it's short, the artwork is good and the story has a relatable moral, so you might want to go ahead and give it a shot.
Overworked workaholic stays in the office late, sees a ghost, trips over a cable, wakes up in hospital and then goes on to find herself pursuing a childhood hobby and a love interest. Could be a nice story but it's lame the way it's told.

Didn't really appeal to me, but it's a very quick read and is free so you might want to try it if you've any interest in a manga-ish supernatural tale in a thoroughly modern western setting.
I'm not totally crazy about the speech in this comic, nor am I the simple artwork that seems to have been done shoddily -- it may not have been, that is just my opinion -- but this story was actually quite sweet. It made me stop and think about how bad I am for being a workaholic myself and that is something I am definitely going to have to change.
Workaholic is short and sweet, and I'm gonna recommend this to anyone who likes a sweet comic with a hint of supernatural.
I'm kidding, I'm not THAT much of a workaholic. But, I did like the story, as would my mother. "Eat" She says. "Sleep" She commands. "Live a little", She advises. I loved the illustrations, really impressive.
But...would I pay for it? Probably not, the short length cannot justify a purchase.
I think that this definately lost something in translation. Although it is a comic book, the author could have used the services of a good proofreader/editor. The story is very simplistic and rather disappointing. The illustrations are good.
Honestly the grammar was not the best in the book, it felt like it was written by someone who spoke English as a second language. But I still enjoyed the story and the reason I gave it 4 stars is that I loved the ending and the message.
