Bipolar II Disorder Workbook: Managing Recurring Depression, Hypomania, and Anxiety by Stephanie McMurrich Roberts

Rate this book
Most people have heard of bipolar disorder, a mental health condition that is marked by manic episodes and periods of intense depression. Bipolar II disorder differs from bipolar I in that sufferers may never experience a full manic episode, although they may experience periods of high energy and impulsiveness (hypomania), as well as depression and anxiety. If you have been diagnosed with bipolar II, or even if you think that you may have this disorder, you may be frightened by the highs and lows of your intense emotions. Fortunately, there are proven-effective treatments that can help you find a sense of calm and peace of mind. Written by an extremely accomplished team of bipolar experts, The Bipolar II Disorder Workbook is designed to help you manage the recurring depression, hypomania, and anxiety that can arise as a result of your condition. The convenient workbook format combines evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and other mindfulness-based exercises to help you manage your emotions, track your progress, and ultimately live a happy and more productive life. This is the first self-help workbook available specifically for individuals diagnosed with bipolar II disorder.

This is a book that one can never truly finish. The first read through was enlightening and leaf to a better understanding of how this disorder affects one's sense of self and the world. Dealing with Bipolar II is an ongoing process, so this workbook needs to stay within easy reach.

Summarizes hypomania in a very clear, concise, and accurate manner. Helps not only explain each part of hypomania and depression, but gives steps on how to work through them.

This book was extremely helpful in breaking down BPII and offering coping skills. Before this year, I didn't even know there was a bipolar diagnosis that didn't involve mania. This helped me notice a lot I was missing before.

I slowly moved through this for a first read, but it will definitely be something I continue to refer to.

AMAZING book for bipolar ii sufferer (me). To those diagnosed with bp ii/ who’s family member has one, you must read this book. It gives you exercise on how to deal with it and how to prevent it from escalating quickly.

I'm currently on page 60 of this book, working through it bit by bit, and it's helping me remember how to manage my bipolar disorder, which I was diagnosed with in 2021; it's so ingrained in my life that I often forget I have it, only to be reminded during bouts of depression that my fluctuating feelings are part of the condition.

Very helpful

My husband has just told me he has bp2 this book has made me make sense of his behaviour in the past and presently and strangely comforted me that not only was this rollercoaster not my fault but there were things to help manage the illness

Pretty well written, but pretty unhelpful to me as I was misdiagnosed when I actually have ADHD lmao
