Ever considered how different life would be if there were a few billion less people on the planet? I did, and I found some people to help me make it happen. Now I wish I'd never read that damned book. It's not my fault.
Back in high school, I was encouraged by an amazing teacher to pursue writing. He thought I had a real talent for it, and I did what pretty much any teenager does when an adult gives them advice.
I ignored him.
Twenty years later, I was tired of a corporate life and chose to get back into writing. I joined a local comedy troupe.
And I wrote.
Writing sketches is a lot of fun. Watching the skits you've written come to life through the actors on stage is amazing. I was hooked instantly, but unfortunately the troupe wasn't able to continue performing.
I wanted a career in writing, so I went back to university and finished my degree. I learned how to write professionally, and I'm happy to have made it my career.
And then I found the Kindle Select Program.
Watching you, the reader, take the time to download my stories, rate them, and then come back to see if there's anything else is better than any drug in the world ( I asked Charlie Sheen, as I don't have direct experience in this arena...)
While I'm still pretty early in days of KDP, I'm looking forward to the ebook world and the possibilities it brings to the indy author. My thanks to Amazon for making this process easy, and my thanks to you for continuing to read.
My promise to you: If you keep reading, I will keep writing.
I picked up this book, well, I shouldn’t call it a book because it’s more of a short story, because the title, I Blame Stephen King grabbed my attention. Stephen King is one of my favorite authors. I have read almost all of his books and I wanted to know what he was getting blamed for. The truth of the matter is that I had never even heard of Jason Finnerty, which also appealed to me because I enjoy discovering awesome unknown writers and from this very short work. Jason proved to be that, an awesome unknown writer.
I review the books I read and always try to find something positive to say about the story and about the author. After reading I Blame Stephen King, I would be hard pressed to find anything negative to say unless it was way too short a quick story. I wanted more, and the material was there for Jason to expand it to Novella or Novelette length.
I can’t really say too much more about this story other than the story line parallels Stephen King’s The Stand, without spoiling it for you. Grab yourself a copy off REDDIT or on Amazon and read it.
This was a fun little short story. The main character reads The Stand and gets an idea about how to "save the world." Of course, his idea is not the traditional way to save the world. It is more reminiscent of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
I thought it did a good job of exploring what happens when environmentalism is taken to the extreme and the value of human life is forgotten.
I thought it could have been a little more interesting if the execution of the plan was a little more fleshed out. But, I recognize it wasn't a full length novel so I can't expect it to have the depth of a full length novel.
That being said, I enjoyed it and look forward to exploring the other stories by this author.
For a 16 page short story Jason tells a good story and I found it hard to put down until I finished it. Definitely recommend this story for anyone who !at have spare half an hour and wants to laugh and learn at the same time.
My first dabble at taking a punt on a kindle book recommend by amazon of a straight to kindle author (or whatever the title is).
An interesting short story based on someone that reads The Stand and thinks the world starting over is a good idea. Like many short stories this is just that... A good idea that is too short to work effectively.
If you're going to use one of the best modern short story writer's name in the title of your story, one should try and at least write up to that caliber. Not so here. Good idea, meh evacuation.
