Rate this book
In 1944, the battleship USS Louisiana is torpedoed and sunk by a Japanese submarine. There is a single survivor. Four decades later, an expedition embarks to locate and document the wreck. The Louisiana's sole survivor, Ensign Robert Sayles (retired), along with his daughter, Jill, are honored guests of the expedition.

But things begin to go wrong aboard the research vessel Hailey Rose. Several crewmen are found murdered, and the ship's radio and engines are sabotaged. The pain from wounds Robert Sayles received in his escape from the sinking battleship return to haunt him. With a fierce South Pacific storm bearing down on them, the Hailey Rose's survivors must find a way to repair their vessel and contend with a murderer in their midst. A murderer with direct ties to the night the last battleship was sunk.

Is it Robert? Or is it... something else? And will they survive...The Last Battleship?

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I chose to review this book because A. I enjoy a good ghost story and B. the synopsis reminded me of the movie Ghost Ship, which is one of my favorites. The Last Battleship is full of suspense and thrills. It quickly engages you and you find yourself unable to put it down and wanting to know what comes next. It's a smooth flowing, well written novel.

This novel is what I would call suspenseful horror - there's plenty of bloodshed, but it's not done for the sake of being gruesome, it's part of the story; what really gets your heart racing is the suspense of the unknown, the tingle you get at the back of your neck, the quickening of the pulse as you flip the pages. This is a great book to read if you like to engage in safe thrills!

The main character, Sayles, is written so that you empathize with him and root for him despite the sins of his youth. Christiano writing endears this character to you despite the atrocities he's committed - not an easy task, but one that is very well done.

I recommend this book to all who come across it. You won't be disappointed. WaAr

I received this book from the author to give an honest review.

The Last Battleship will have you having goosebumps. It is a chilling story that in way will remind you of the movie Ghost Ship.
I would say this book is considered suspenseful horror, there is bloodshed in the book but not anything gruesome. There is suspense and a mystery all wrapped into this book.

Joseph did a wonderful job in writing this book, with the characters, story line. The way he wrote different parts such as what happened in around the 1940's to present day it all combined really well and did not have you going back asking what is going on. That is great, because for me I do not like to have to go back and re-read parts.

If you enjoy a great ghost story then I highly suggest you give The Last Battleship a read.

First, I’d like to say I was given this book as a gift from the author for an honest review. Before I started it, I read the blurb and knew it fell into the horror genre. Chilling is what I expected but it was also suspenseful, mysterious, shocking, and even a small part romantic.

It is written in third person. Joseph, the author, does this in a way that not only captures the voice of several characters but adds to their development as well as adds to overall plot.

The pacing and unraveling of events had me sitting on the edge of my seat, wanting to read more even when ‘life’ drew me away. If you like horror stories, I suggest you pick up your copy today. This is one you don’t want to miss.

Although not my normal genre of reading, I’m so glad I read this book.

USS Louisiana and Hailey Rose have one person in common, and one moment in time will seal the fate for both ships.

Suspense, mystery, horror and much more. This reader travels between 1944 and 1984 flawlessly, and the character development grows significantly chapter after chapter.

The story gradually unravels, leaving no questions unanswered but with a few shocking twists. It’s well written, incredibly descriptive and will give you goose bumps.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. I will admit I was a bit skeptical about this book, im not much into history. However this book blew my mind!! Amazing details and the author goes from the 1940's to more current times flawlessly and with purpose. This book is a keeper, and the ending will shock you!
