I am not sure why I read this exactly. Probably because I loved reading The Hunger Games trilogy.

These "tag-a-long" type books have never really interested me, and even though the pure definition of what they are, makes it appear to be an interesting read. It's kinda' like seeing another person's way of "looking" at it or taking a weird angle in it so as too "latch" on to something popular (maybe?)... but it's not. Maybe the reason I try not to read these is that subconsciously I hope it will read like the actual author wrote it and it will give me some more bits of the story... but then it doesn't... thus the "let down".

Does that even make sense?

I'm sure there are some people out there that love this kind of thing (and it's not that the book itself is horrible), it's just not my "cup of tea" as my Mema use to put it!

Don't bother... the preview of the book "The Hunt" is longer than the actual title, which I think was written just as a tool to get you to read the preview.

I got this free on Amazon.
The part about Katniss and survival was cool, but I really wasn't into the 80 page "preview"

A reviewer below has criticized this book on the grounds that the title is misleading - and that the ostensible reason for its existence, using the misadventures of the wonderful anti-heroine, Katniss Everdeen, as a guide to survival in a real life wilderness, is secondary to the book's use as a promotional tool for a novel entitled "The Hunt." This is a fair enough criticism, I feel, and if I'd paid the usual asking price for books the size of this one I'd certainly have been as pissed off as Haymich Abernathy at a Rechabites meeting.

However, confining one's assessment to what it says on the tin, and dealing only with the "important" part - a treatise on how to survive The fictitious Hunger Games, and (by implication) real life versions of the challenges the games presented to tributes, this is a book that is both entertaining and useful. Somehow, I can't help feeling that if I were ever faced with a real life survival situation, the phrase "What would the Mockingjay do?" would be a good starting point in formulating my survival strategy.

Therefore, I guess I am divided. If this had been presented as what it purports to be, I'd have given it rave reviews. In its present form, the fact that it's a rip-off has to be taken into account. "The Hunt" appears to be a not very well-written piece of drivel, and paradoxically, a bonus of this book is that it saves the reader wasting money buying it. A financial survival tip that even Katniss and Peeta might have found useful. And after all, it was free.

This book is a simple guide to being int the Hunger Games, or maybe in a situation that you need to act like Katniss. If you were lost in the woods and needed to survive for a we days then this book would help a lot. The title makes it seem as though the only reason for this book is to survive a Hunegr Games, but this is not true. It explains the ways to get water to drink, making a shelter and getting food to survive.

The theme of this book is to be prepared. We are getting ready to be in a Hunger Games situation or something like it. It prepares us on the basic needs that a person would need. We need to know this information because we never know what is going to happen in the future, so sometimes being preoaredin advanced is a good thing,

I sorta liked this book, but I sorta didn't as well. This book doesn't' really go into depth about why we do certain things to survive. it mo says why Katniss would do these things, how she did them and how they helped her win the Hunger Games in the first and second book. Some of the information that you take away from this book can be useful to humans in reality, but this book could have been a lot better.

This is a totally unauthorized book that looks at how, if it were real, one would survive the Hunger Games. It's like reading someone's master's thesis with footnotes and quotes etc. OK and quick, but nothing special. Only hardcore fans need to read this.

this is just for the strategy guide because I didn't read the sneak peek of hunt and probably won't. this is by far one of the dumbest things I've ever read, good thing it was free or I would be super pissed right now.

if youve never set foot off pavement & think a cabin is "roughing it," then this might be for you. otherwise it's a kitschy hanger-on to the popularity if THG with the addendum of the author's next novel. I'm glad this was free, I'd be perturbed if I'd paid money to read a girl scout primer.

Enjoyed the information about the Hunger Games, but I'm not really into the vampire stories that followed.

This was terrible. about 104 pages but it was free. It think it was more a catch for her new eBook since there is a 80-page preview of THE HUNT, which I didn't read.

Like I needed a book to point out my lack of survival skills. Technically it would be "another book" since the original Hunger Games already pointed that out to me.

This is a very strange book. Books usually are entirely about a particular subject. This one, on the other hand, has 80 pages of a preview of a totally different book. Why? What makes it worse is that the book is listed as 90 pages long which doesn't leave much actual Hunger Games material.

The material reminds me of survivalist material, listing what you need such as drinking water (and a way to purify it), sleep, protection from bad weather and food. (You're going to need medical supplies of weapons. Maps can come in handy along with other material.)

Just what clothing you need will depend on the season and the environment you are trying to survive.

There's also some material on actual doomsday predictions which, again, raises the question why include this as part of the book? I've seen much better lists going back to a couple thousand years B.C.

If you're a completist you can get this book but otherwise I'd pass it by.

This is a very informative guide to the hunger games with some questions answered that may have been left unanswered in the books. It's also a bit informative of some survival techniques.
