Fascinating web of predator-prey relationships.

I was surprised to learn that so many species make a living off army ants, either directly or indirectly.

Interesting references to the novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the short story "Leiningen versus the Ants" by Carl Stephenson, and the film "The Naked Jungle" starring Charlton Heston and Eleanor Parker (based on the Stephenson story).

Excellent book about the fascinating world of army ants, with a focus on tropical ecosystem connections. They construct their nests out of their own bodies, they swarm over the forest floor, searching for prey, they are the hunting superorganism. Really enjoyed the writing and the information.
