Richard Shaw doesn’t believe in love. He does believe in getting what he wants, and Scarlet Hughes is next on his list. In his world, there is nothing he can’t have. All he needs to do is find her weakness.
Scarlet is a single mother trying to make ends meet. A nightmare from her past keeps her cut off from men and relationships, but a steaming kiss one afternoon in the office leads to her shame.
For one week, Scarlet will give Richard her body and in return he’ll give her the means of giving her son a good future.
But when her past comes back to haunt her, Scarlet can’t hide from her fear any longer, and Richard must risk everything to claim what is rightfully his.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
For me these books are Hqns with lots of vulgar language thrown in. I don't consider them erotica, per say, because the sex involved is fairly standard. The language/terminology used is just much cruder than what is used in a hqn and the sex more frequent/detailed. Otherwise it's the same "blackmail for sex" plot that my sick mind loves so much.
Not sure how to explain it, but I do have a problem with the H's internal dialogue. It's too damn sweet!! He does all this ruthless stuff to get the h into bed, but inside he's in love with the h from the start and seems to know it. I think it's more fun when the H is more conflicted in his own thought process and resentful of the h for how much he needs her. In other words, dude buys his own crap. In this one, the guy knew he was full of crap all along. So much so, that I found it unbelievable that he would go about getting the girl the way he did in the first place.
***spoilers***
Also, even though lip service was done to the fact that the H's blackmail scheme was comparable to the rape she suffered as a teen, I wasn't satisfied with how that plot line was handled. The fact that the H immediately went and told his friends all about the rape after she had confided in him didn't sit right with me. These were men in their 30s not high school boys. She didn't need everyone to be up in her business.
This is the second book that I have loved from this author. Basically, it starts out where the hero Richard wants Scarlet the heroine in his bed at any cost. He gets her reassigned to be his secretary. Scarlet has a young son who is the product of a rape so she is wary of men. Her son has a medical condition that costs a lot of money. Richard uses her son to get her to sign a contract to be his mistress for one week. In return, she gets money that she desperately needs for her son. Almost form the time Richard gets her to sign the contract, he regrets it. He thinks this is the only way to get Scarlet. They spend the week together, but it ends on a sour note when Scarlet's son becomes ill. She tells him she never wants to see him again. By this time, he has fallen in love with her. He grovels a lot. He cries in front of his two best friends when he realizes he has lost her. She moves away and starts over. So, in desperation he contacts a friend who knows where she is and goes to her work place and pours out his heart in front of a restaurant full of people. It was a great ending.
Richard is becoming obsessed with his employee, Scarlet. Scarlet is trying to make ends meet by working hard and taking care of her son. Richard’s obsession takes a turn with blackmail and a contract so vile that Scarlet has no choice but to agree.
THOUGHTS
This story is the follow up to 'Blackmailed to the Beast’. At the end of Blackmailed to the Beast, we were introduced to a taste of Richard and Scarlet's story which left me excited. Now that I have read Scarlet and Richard’s story it was ok. For me, it felt as though the plot had high and low moments throughout the story. As for the characters, Richard was very demanding, persuasive, forceful and a jerk at times. However, he was obsess with Scarlet and seems to really love her in his own, the only way he knows how , which makes sense when you read about his family. Scarlet was very young and a bit naive. Her past definitely played a role with her persona in the story.
I love blackmail stories, but although it was likable and ok for me this story still felt a bit different for me with a few conflicting moments. I am still looking forward to the third installment in the series.
Storyline: FAIRLY GOOD Enjoyment: FAIRLY GOOD Intimacy Level: SPICY
This one.... lord..... i have downs... lets start with why this had downs..i hated Richard also he was hot/cold sometimes... he used and kinda harrassed her to sign a contract..and if she didnt he'll make sure she was fired, make sure she can't get a job, make her life a living hell and on top of that he had to bring her child into this.. 😐 that spells lovveee!!! He only did that cuz his father taught him that way of love or like or whatever.. heck Scarlet even told him you could have just asked me on a date.. she would have went..
But i did liking him alittle when he kicked the guy who raped her (past sexual assult) so that earned him like a point for me but I still disliked him... as for Scarlett she was an okay character.. nothing to exciting about her.. she was weak and a push over sometimes.. but i understood why since she was being blackmailed.. :/ (at first lol) this was messy to me.. short fast pace.. and i only gave it one star for him kicking the rapist ass..
Low angst, no ow/om drama mention of the man who sexually assault her, dramaish, secondary chara, sexy times, no virgin gal and somewhat of a past manwhore.
Slowish-insta Push/pull by Scarlett Hea Epilogue is about Opal and Tony and their start..

I hate rating negatively so I won’t. But this book wasn’t something I particularly liked. I don’t think the author really did any research on the ailment she gave the child... actually I’m sure of it. It was very unbelievable and everything felt really forced. That being said I do enjoys this authors books so I’ll continue to read them this one however did not work for me.
On je zgodni sredovečni advokat a ona njegova mlada asistentkinja.
This is the second book in the Unlikely Love series by Sam Crescent. Scarlet is 22 years old, she has a 4 year old son named Harry who she loves dearly. Richard is an attorney he's at least 10 years older than her and he comes from a very rich family, he's also her boss. Scarlet has been working for him for over a year and he's been secretly lusting after her. Instead of asking her out he offers her a sex contract; he will give her one million pounds if she spends the week with him and be available sexually whenever he wants. She reluctantly agrees because she needs money to pay for Harry's medicine and his doctors bills.
Very intense, but a great story line. Both characters are dying in their beliefs until they find each other and come they can't live without one another.
Wow when the friend's mess up they really mess up. He's so lucky she forgave him and that she loved him was much was he loved her .. sweet sexy hot loved it
I enjoyed this book.. Richard and Scarlet were such a good match.. And I was happy that even though there were some hotter scenes (including all the dirty words-- Im just gonna go on record and say I really REALLY dont like the word cunt.. ) but they were sweet at the same time. I love that Richard was a meanie but had such a soft spot for Scarlet.. I dont know about leaving your severely asthmatic son for a week to sleep with a guy though.. and also I absolutely cringe at the cover.. The guy is alright but the chick just doesnt fit.. With a cover you need to try to at least portray the characters right, again it just didnt fit and I thought it couldve been better.. there were a couple of typos (one word had a period in the middle of it) Im definitely going to be watching for the third story, keep them coming :) -- no pun intended
Okay, I finished this book for like 5 hours. I know, not only because it's a short one but also because I kind of like it. Better that the 1st one, I think. Richard's one fucked up man. He perfectly understand that by forcing her to sign the contract, he'd hurt her. He despise Wayne's (Blackmailed By the Beast) way of trapping Lily but now he's the one who trapping Scarlett. At least Wayne marry Lily. But Richard only stay with her for a week. Awful. So far the angst's good. Still, I'm not a fan of Sam Crescent's style of writing. Too flat and heartless. Besides, the story came down way too fast. Let's just say, lack of foreplay. Just like the first book. But, I'm a big fan of blackmailing thing, soo.. I already purchased the 3rd book. Eeeeeep! :)))
Richard had threw a fit when his friend made the woman he loved marry him by blackmail. He just doesn't think he is doing the same things when he gets Scarlet to sign a contract to sleep with him for a week and he will pay her enough money to help with her son's medical bills.
Scarlet will do anything for her son. She is being blackmailed to sleep with her boss but it will make her son's life easier. She was raped and got pregnant with Harry but she loves him and doesn't blame him for his dads mistakes.
These two characters were evenly matched. I enjoyed watching them interact with each other and I was happy when he ran into Scarlet's ex and beat the crap out of him. A man needs to take care of the woman he loves even though he won't admit it.
I loved Blackmailed By The Beast, so I was really looking forward to reading this one. And I did enjoy it, not as much as Blackmailed, admittedly, but I still read it in one sitting and am looking forward to the next one.
I'm trying to think, why I didn't enjoy this one as much, and I think the hero jarred with me at times. Once he admitted his feelings at least to himself, I liked him more and I forgave him his rather jerk like behaviour at times. And of course it all comes good in the end and left me with a silly grin, so it's all good really.
I liked the premise of the story, and I decided to get a sample before buying it. Had it been free, I would probably have read it to see how it plays out, but when I'm asked to pay close to four dollars for something, I have a few requirements on the quality. One of those is consistency, another is accuracy in grammar/spelling.
The fact that the storytelling contradicted itself in the span of a few pages and that it was obvious that the manuscript needed at least one more round of proofreading before being ready for publishing is why I won't be buying this book.
I am not a huge fan of single mom/pregnancy storylines. I am glad they are out there, but they do not resonate with me, so I generally dislike them. I appreciated the curvy, abused heroine, but the hero was basically a jerk (not sure how he came to realize that - he just suddenly acknowledged his love, kinda randomly). There was a bit of a stilted feel to some of the dialog and some inconsistencies in behavior, but there was good stuff too; I think it's just not my thing.
Indecent proposal type story. Richard is a wealthy lawyer and as soon as he meets the new office assistant he has to have her. He finds her weakness which is her son and uses it against. He draws up a contract that basically states that if she sleeps with him for a week he will pay her a lot of money. This money will set her and her son up for for a long time.
