Centuries following the destruction of the Wizard Sett by its own Black Dragon, a young wizard apprentice finds herself thrust into a magical world that she thought only existed in bedtime stories. In a twist of fate, she joins a traveling group of shapeshifters on a quest to find the key to saving all of Lagrangia from a darkness that’s spreading like a disease across the land. Her travels become a journey of self-discovery, turning her perceived reality upside down. As she exposes herself to the magical world, she becomes a beacon to the one that they all fear. But can the love she finds in the arms of a shapeshifting Draak overpower the evil that’s seducing her from within her dreams?
I live in central Illinois with my husband and many pets. With my 120 pound dog George at my side, I'm attempting to combine my love of art with my newest love, to write. Why would a 'full-time worker by day' and 'want-to-be artist by night' write books? I have absolutely no idea, but I do believe that everything happens for a reason and, therefore, my insane drive to expose myself to the writing world must also serve a purpose. Only time will tell.
So...if you want to read simple stories about strong female characters and the power of love and friendship give my novels a try. If they help just one person escape for a few minutes from whatever is troubling them, I'll consider myself a success.
Note: The Blue Fire series contains adult situations and was written with a mature audience in mind.
What a surprise this book was. I got the book free from Amazon and with a free price tag, you never can go wrong. Usually, if I don't like a book that is free I stop after a few chapters - no loss, but this book captured me from the beginning on and made me turn page after page after page.
It is a fantasy story supreme - with Dragons , wizards , fairies - a complete magical world , where good fights against evil and nothing seems like it is.
There are a lot of different characters in this book, but they all work very well together and do not take away from the main figure Tianna. She is the absolute heroine in this magical story, starting out at the beginning as the timid , little girl , who knows and feels at every turn that she is an outsider and grows during the story line slowly but surely into a stronger character. Still, she has her doubts and struggles, but it is visible for the reader to see the change in her and her will not to be the outcast anymore.
It is a very entertaining book and it surly makes me want to read the next book as soon as I can.
As an added bonus, the author also illustrated beautiful designs of dragons and different marks in the book, which I personally could even imagine as a sweet little , hidden tattoo on my belly .....but that, is a different story :)
I definitely can recommend this book - enjoy reading !
I have mixed feelings on this book. I liked the different beings in the world and felt that they were interesting and entertaining. At first I really liked Tianna, and then it just fell apart. She initially started off as strong, unique, independent, and kind. Towards the end she felt like a an unsure sheep following the commands of the males in the book. She never really took charge of her life nor stuck up for her feelings. If she did, then it was not that noticeable to me. The plot went rather off from what I had thought would happen. (more in the second book review as I believe it was there). I also did not care for the romance between her and the guy. I have a big peeve for ...well it's in the spoiler ;).
I loved this book! Fantasy, Romance and a strong female lead make this book an exciting read. The characters really grow and change within the story. I have to say I almost feel like it compares to Yasmine Galenorns work which I adore. I found this for free on my Nook and hope the second will be out soon. I think this book is a gem it keeps me guessing and I enjoyed that. Sexy, Fun, dark and light ...I am a fan of Paulette Miller now. Keep up the great stories:)I would say this book is better than most other works I have bought for 7.99.
The entire book read like a textbook it was one sentence after another of birth they did this and then they did that and next they did this. it was very dry and anti climatic. for men who's the main character just Meats falls in love with her instantly and valves to protect her even though they don't know her. she appears weak and helpless throughout the entire book and lets them treat her that way and then gets mad for feeling weak and helpless. I kept waiting for something to happen but the story just flatlined from the beginning.
This is an interest series. I have yet to read a book like it. The only thing I didn't like about it is the female lead character. Out of personal preference, I like female leads to have a little more of a backbone. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes.
It's so intense!! It takes you from one emotion to anouther and makes your har pound and your hands shake. I don't know how to feel. Should I be sad or happy or anxious or excited, I DONT KNOW!! I repet so intense. 8O
While the world Miller creates has the potential to be intriguing, her book is poorly written and edited. The story is rushed in places, leaving out the opportunity for her to enrich the fantasy she is trying to pull her readers into. Her characters are cliched at best; Tianna in particular falls victim to the 'strong female character that can do everything' trap that so many authors fall into.
Overall, the novel reads more like a piece of internet fanfiction than a published book.
Love this storyline and the setup. Wish Miller would write with a little more flow and passion...the "right to the point" approach leaves a bit to be desired. It reads almost like the bones of a novel that are waiting for their rewrite/edit. Which is a bit distracting.
I probably would have given this a 2/2.5 based on the writing...BUT despite it I'm hooked on the story. Can't wait to see what happens next for Tianna.
Oh my heck this book is sooooo good. I love all the guys I have no idea who to choose! Let's just pick all of them? But seriously I love tianna and her attitude. People treat her like shit but she is still kind and knows when enough is enough. She is sexy without even trying, badass when it counts, and caring to all. The protectors love her in different ways. I'm rooting for Gabriel but I still like Nathaniel, and even the dark draak. Will she mate and find her warrior? Let's go book two
The book thoroughly pissed me off. (To be fair it wasn't all bad) But for now all I can say is that if the next book doesn't resolve my issues I'm gonna leave a real scathing review.
P.S. For some reason I have a horrible feeling this series is about to receive the worst review of my entire reading life. Ugh!
This book was ok, I really liked some of the characters. The interactions between the dragons were great. I found the writing to be jarring however. This is not a book to get lost in, as fumbled phrasing reminds one that this is a book. The ideas were solid, the delivery needs much more polish.
Oh my god, this story may have had the potential to be cool, but the writing is so horrible I couldn't get past 10%. And please dont tell me she had like 5 suitors after her. On top of the wayyy too OP nature of her very existence, now she's too hot for her own good?
This book have everything one can ask for. The characters well developed each one with excellent personalities, the story grab your attention since page one and keep better as you immerse on the story. One of my favorites book
I love this book. The characters are very pronounced. It's full of adventure and just when you think your know whats going to happen next, it changes. Very promising book.
