After surviving a terrible automobile accident where she loses her parents, 20 year-old Alayna tries to gather the pieces of that shattered past by starting anew in the town of Juniper Grove. Alayna finds comfort in a handsome and friendly young man named Jayden who assists her in refurbishing the garden in the fixer-uper home that she has purchased. One night, as Alayna strolls back home and ignorant of the town's curfew, she is viciously attacked by a mysterious man with a craving for blood. When Alayna questions Jayden about the attacker, Jayden has no choice but to open the doors to his mystical world. While Jayden nurses Alayna to health, both discover that the spark that ignited during their friendship has flourished into a burning flame, and in the end, it is love that will conquer.

Author Jaidis Shaw has created a magical world in present time, where mythical creatures live undetected among humans. Shaw captures the essence of this mystical world by developing a cast of characters that works well to deliver the reader a wonderful and innovative plot.

Filled with thrills, love and the unexpected, Jaidis Shaw's "Destiny Awaits" will unconsciously absorb you into the realm of your untapped imagination.

Alayna Scott had lost her parents and know she needed a fresh start. Moving to Juniper Grove felt right to Alayna, little did she know that something about this town was quite different. She meets her neighbor Jayden McKnight who she feels a connection to. When a vampire sets his sight on his next victim, Alayna everything goes awry.

Great book. This had a very different twist for a vampire/shifter story. I liked that Alayna was a strong heroine who i think could easily have been broken. Jayden's dedication to Alayna is swoon worthy. Look forward to the next book in the series.

Destiny Awaits by Jaidis Shaw

Alayna has always been able to receive visions through water but even her gift couldn’t prepare her for her loss. After being in a terrible accident that claimed the lives of her parents, Alayna sets off to start fresh in a new town. After arriving at her new home in Juniper Grove, she meets Jayden, handsome and instantly attracted to him they form a friendship that you know right from the moment of their interaction will develop into something more. One night as she is going home, not very familiar with the curfew the town has, she encounters a man that craves blood, and he has chosen his new victim...Alayna. Jayden comes to her rescue and is able to save her, but is left having to reveal a world she never knew existed.

Let me first say when I first read the blurb for the book I was instantly hooked and couldn’t help but reach out to Author Jaidis Shaw right away to request a chance to review "Destiny Awaits" for her and want to take this moment to say Thank you for allowing me to do the review! This book did not disappoint at all, I could not tear my eyes away, it was as if my eyes hungered to read more of what was developing before me.

Jaidis Shaw has transfixed me with the first book of the Juniper Grove series! She has created a world that you can easily dive into and clearly envision how the characters and their surroundings are. The characters were each well developed and you are able to connect with the characters in a way that their emotions become your own.

Filled with suspense, love and of course the paranormal, “Destiny Awaits” will leave you wanting more, I can not wait to see what is in store for the characters of Juniper Grove in the 2nd book! 5/5 Bats!

This is Jaidis Shaw's first novel, as well as the first in what promises to be an entertaining series. We have part love story and part coming of age, with mystery, suspense, and, of course, the parnormal aspects. All of this is woven together into an intriguing plot.

The writing flows well. I enjoyed the overall writing style, and found the book an easy and fun read.

I did have a few minor problems. For me, Alayna needs more development. She was a little too perfect, and accepted things too easily. She is suddenly immersed in a world of shapeshifters and vampires, yet questions very little about any of it. Also, I wanted more details. For instance, throughout the story I was curious how all these people managed to support themselves when none of them worked.

Despite the problem areas, I was compelled to continue reading. I like the world of Juniper Grove and all the characters living there. I'm looking forward to getting to know them better in the next book.

OK for anyone that wants to read a book that turns in a direction you never would have imagined this one is it. I loved all the characters, Jayden, Alayna, Sofia, Julian, Darren, Kyle and so many more. This is a story that I could read over and in my mind I could see every detail of every part of this story. I so want to hope there will be a part two and even more of this story. For a young girl who lost her family to tragedy she found love that she thought had eluded her. Thanks for the gift of this book Jaidis it was worth the wait.

I absolutely love shifter books and this one was fantastic. The characters had depth and the relationships were believable.

Of course Jayden was swoon worthy! He was a great love interest for Alayna. Their relationship was sweet.

I liked the whole villain situation in this book as well. It was nicely done and the characters were expertly weaved into the story.

Overall, this book was a success and worth the read! It gets five glittery stars for being a compelling read.

Mediocre.

Mediocre is the word I would use to describe this book. I have read some reviews on goodreads for this book and a lot of people are loving it but for some reason I didn’t. I loved the synopsis and thought that I was going to love this book but that was not how it turned out. Sure I liked it but as I said before, I didn’t love it.

Alayna is a girl, haunted by past. She lost both her parents in a car accident and decided to move to Juniper Grove where she meets Jayden. And Gavin.

This is not a love triangle. Reading the summary, I thought the book would be revolving around Alayna’s ability to have visions around water but, that wasn’t it. I started reading and was actually quite intrigued. I liked the direction in which the book was going but soon it had too much going on in it and I felt that certain things which should have been more important weren’t and that was quiet disappointing. I just hoped that the story would have been a little longer, focusing a little more on certain things and also that in total, there would be more to the story.

However, there was one thing that I loved about this book – the characters. All of them were so sweet (the ones who were supposed to be) and the others, well, let’s just say if they were dying, I’d bring some popcorn, watch and laugh. Jayden and Alayna were really good together but things moved too fast for my liking. They were strangers one moment and ready to die for each other the next. I like to read the moments building to their love, the chemistry sizzling and felt that Destiny Awaits lacked some of that. But nonetheless I gave it three stars because of the characters. Otherwise, I would’ve given it two.

I wasn’t particularly engrossed in the book, just intrigued. And that feeling of intrigue lasted even when the book ended. I couldn’t help but feel that there should have been more to it than actually was. I felt that the ending should have been a little different. Don’t get me wrong, the ending was really sweet and well written but it lacked something.

I wish the story would have been extended a bit, ended just a tad differently. I liked it but I wouldn’t be reading it again anytime soon.

After my first reaction of excitement that I had when the opportunity arose to read a book written by a person that I like, knowing her from our blog collaborations, a fear crept regarding the situation in which I would have to tell her that her story didn’t meet my expectations. Fortunately, it was not the case.

Destiny Awaits is a sweet story where the normal is smoothly replaced by paranormal in a game of destiny in which are intertwined: sadness with happiness, love with hate, despair with hope. A story in which love is felt without needing erotic overtones, which makes it suitable for young readers who want to discover the fantasy genre, but also for those who are already familiar with this genre.

Along with the main thread of the story were launched another routes possible to be followed that will feed the readers’ curiosity. The pace of events is gradually quickened, there is unpredictable, thrill and, as the story develops, the peaceful and dreamily atmosphere is forgotten and things get serious because victims and executioners, betrayal and unlikely alliances, bloody clashes will appear.

The characters respect their classical typology while enjoying some attributes that gives them freshness. Jaidis knew how to introduce them so that there is doubt about their intentions and their rating as good or bad is not certain nor final; friends or enemies, each of them will influence the course of things and some of them you hope that you will see more. Along the story, the main characters acquire new features and so they gain consistency, Destiny Awaits veiledly representing Alayna’s maturation.

Jaidis Show's writing style is attractive, fluid, and it makes you read regardless of your age along with the young adult readers that will find among humor, action and the excitement of first love, also some advices that they should keep in mind.

I’m glad that Destiny Awaits is just the first volume of the series because Jaidis opened several possibilities and introduced nice characters that promise us future wonderful fantasy adventures.

I received a free copy of this novel from Reader's Favorite in exchange for my honest review.

Destiny Awaits is a story about a young woman that has visions, some of which are of the man she is destined to fall in love with. A year after her parents' tragic deaths, Alayna has decided to start over in the sleepy town of Juniper Grove. Thanks to the help of her realtor, Dominic, she's bought a lovely fixer upper that only requires yard work. A chance meeting with the young man tending to her garden begins stirring a feeling of belonging that she hasn't felt since her parents passed away. An evening stroll turns into an encounter with a vampire, and she quickly learns nothing is quite what it seems in Juniper Grove. Is Jayden the mysterious young man that haunts her visions since she was a little girl? Will Gavin succeed in ending her life?

Destiny Awaits is a wonderful paranormal romance. The descriptions were very detailed, I was able to picture every aspect of the story vividly. The attraction between Jayden and Alayna was instant, and you also watch them grow as a couple. There's some mystery in the story as well, it kept me engrossed and I was really sorry to see the book end. I can't wait for the next book in the series, as I'd love to see more written about Violet, Alayna, Gwen, and Jayden.

Destiny Awaits by Jaida Shaw
Mystery, action, shapshifting, mystical and romantic, this book has that and more.
Alayna Scott has just moved into her house in Juniper Grove. She had enough money to pay cash for the house as her parents had died in the car crash.
Jayden MacKnight has been tending to the yard work and shows up every day to help out. He has a major interest in her.
There is a rose garden with a fountain that brings her peace.
She can see visions of past and future things, her destiny as her mother had once told her. She gets attacked and others come to her rescue and because of the blood the family is not sure what will become of her, what creature and attributes she will get from both creatures. So they keep an eye on her.
Some of her powers have started and the family try to explain it all to her and what to expect in the future.
Love how the explanations are so true to what is going on in their lives.
Some of the clan show up to help but it be not be enough...
So many good memories of her parents are brought out by others who also care for her. They are all going to have to learn
The kitchen scenes bring a smile to my face as I do bake and love doing it.
Lot of strange things happen and things get worse for Alayna.

After surviving a traumatic accident that claimed lives of her parents, 20 year old Alayna Scott leaves her home, and the painful memories of her life behind. Buying a home in a small town called Juniper Grove seems like the perfect way to start her new life, a place where no one knows the horror that she survived, a place where she doesn't have to see the pity in everyone's gaze when they look upon her.

When Alayna meets Jayden McKnight, the handsome neighbor with the startling green eyes, she is instantly drawn to his warmth and the feeling of safety his mere presence brings. Little does Alayna know that the man that brings those feelings of safety to her, is the very thing that causes nightmares in so many others.

After a near death experience with a dark and deadly predator, Alayna is thrust in to a reality she never knew existed. A reality where vampires, shifters, and magical beings spoken of around campfires are very much real, and closer than she would have ever imagined. And now Alayna is the center of their attention.

This is an awesome debut novel! I couldn't stop reading, and eagerly await the next installment to what has started as a great series!

Destiny Awaits (Juniper Grove Chronicles #1) Jaidis Shaw

Alayna Scott, a 21 year old young lady moves to Jumiper Grove after a fatal car accident that killed her family, she being the sole survivor. She expects to start her life over in this small quaint town.

While unpacking she meets Jayden McKnight and feels an attraction to him. She starts to sense that things may not be quite normal in this town. She is warned to stay inside and not go out after curfew.

She does not take the curfew too seriously and Alyana is attacked by a vampire. Jayden will do what ever it takes to save her, and slowly she starts to learn about what she has become.

Fantastic read! I look forward to the next in the series. And I must admit that the cover art is amazing, and captures the characters so perfect. I know the old saying "You can't judge a book by the cover" But I must admit the cover drew me in and the story was not disappointing.

Jaidis Shawknows how to grab the readers attention and not let go until the last page.

Kudos to Ms. Jaidis Shaw for giving her readers a fresh look at what can become an overdone paranormal love triangle scenario with what is quickly becoming the go-to people in paranormal fiction - human, vampire, and shape-shifter/werewolf. Her writing style is both bold and fresh and she has a skill for bringing her interesting characters to life. It is clear that she loves her characters and wants to tell their stories in a complete and appealing manner.

You cannot help but fall in love with the main characters and want to know more about them with every turn of the page. The love story that blossoms is sweet and heart-warming with just enough steam to make you bite your lip. This story is a page-turner and once I started reading, I couldn't put it down until I'd finished. It had everything I personally want in a story: romance, drama, suspense, intrigue, twists, and a genuine feeling of connection to the characters.

Without a doubt, I am anxious to read the next story in the Juniper Grove Chronicles and look forward to whatever Ms. Shaw publishes next.

Jaidis Shaw has created a magical realm within our world, filled with excitement, love and creatures we've only dreamed of!

In her first novel Destiny Awaits, Miss Shaw brings her characters to life in a very realistic and relatable way, building an instant connection between them and the reader. Realistic, really?---Yes, even with the vampires and magical beings that seem to wander freely throughout Juniper Grove, Alayna really is just like any one of us. She has had to face unexpected hardships, alone without the support of her family or friends to guide her, and finds that in order to truly let go and get on with her life, she must let down her walls and allow herself to love...to live!

If you're looking for something fun, bold and different from the usual pack of paranormal-romance reads, I highly suggest picking up a copy of Destiny Awaits!

I had no idea what I was getting into before I read Destiny Awaits, aside from what the cover suggested. And, I must say that I was greatly surprised. Vampires, Shifters, a Seer, love, and betrayal fill this novel. It kept me turning pages, right until the end. Author Jaidis Shaw's debut novel is a clear indication that a wonderful Destiny of writing Awaits her. :)

Alayna Scott and her parents are going on a little trip when they are involved in an accident one of which Alayna survives but her parents do not. While grieving for her parents Alayna can’t stay in their home any longer so decides to find a new place to live. She just wants to get as far away as possible ASAP. She finds a new home in the small town of Juniper Grove.

This is where she meets this hottie/shifter Jayden McKnight and finds herself instantly attractive to him. Jayden has been the caretaker for the house just bought for a while with the attraction between the two he decides to stay on and Alayna agrees.

With being new in town Alayna doesn’t have any knowledge of the curfew that has been placed on Juniper Grove and goes for a walk on evening and just as she returns to her home she runs into a vampire who has decided that Alayna will be his next victim as he is in need of some fresh meat. But unbeknownst to him Alayna has other ideas so when he attacks she fights back and hard. She is saved by the hottie Jayden who then takes Alayna under his wing and tries to explain to her what she is to endure in the future.

This vampire Gavin wants Alayna dead and will let nothing or no one stop him. Gavin is a very powerful vampire in his world and is very controlling and he will not let anyone get the best of him or let someone slip through his figures. He will have his revenge one way or another. Will Gavin get his hands on Alayna? What will he do with her if he catches her? What is Alayna going to do? What will happen to Alayna, a vampire living in a shifter world? Can Alayna and Jayden ever be a couple?

Well to find the answers come join Alayna and Jayden and ask them after all that is their story to tell. I have really loved following Alayna and Jayden on their little journeys living in Juniper Grove. I love the vampire/shifter world that author Jaidis Shaw has created for the Juniper Grove Chronicles. I have waited a long time to read Destiny Awaits with anticipation and am so glad I finally found the time. Destiny Awaits grabbed me right from the very beginning and is still hanging on and doesn’t want to let go even now. I can’t wait to read more about Alayna, Jayden and all the other characters in Juniper Grove. Hint, hint need next book now please.

Free Kindle e-book in exchange for an honest review as part of the Indie June author month.

I had to DNF this book at 28%. Anyone who knows me would be surprised as I am stubborn and I try to at least finish it.

The beginning was very weird and ambiguous. It feels like she is a minor when the accident happens (of course we find out later she is not). What is she running away from? I found it hard to believe Jayden would just say the full account of what happened to his sister to a complete stranger.

I give this book 1 out of 5 stars as I found it too cringey and had to DNF it. I might return to it later and try again. If that happens, I will update my review.

[Because I gave it 1 star rating, I will not be posting the video review on my Tiktok.]

This fast-paced novel is the first book in the Juniper Grove Chronicles. I enjoyed the premise of the story: a young woman has moved to a new town after the death of her family. She has always thought herself to be a bit strange, but that was nothing compared to the strange people she meets in her new home, Juniper Grove. The book started out quickly, which made the pages fly by, but I felt that Alayna accepted the strangeness of Juniper Grove just a little too readily, as well as the fact that she was madly in love with Jayden. I would have liked a little more chemistry before they decide they are madly in love (their feelings make sense later, though, after learning some of the back-story).

Still, the quick beginning meant getting to the meat of the story much faster. I was sitting in my hammock reading, and before I knew it, I had read 45% of the book! About a third of the way in, I was hooked: Jayden's parents had arrived, providing back-story and making Jayden a three-dimensional character whose love for Alayna seemed justified; Alayna was already involved in a major conflict with a woman from Jayden's home; and the mystery surrounding Alayna's new powers was beginning to be revealed. I won't give out too many spoilers, but if you enjoy paranormal elements, you will enjoy this story. The narrator's voice made her easy to like and compelled me to read on to learn what happens to her.

Now the picky part. As a writer myself (and an English/creative writing teacher), I have a habit of picking apart style. In fact, I have been known to fuss at first-person point of view because often I don't like the "voice" of the protagonist. But in this case, I liked Alayna's personality, and I appreciated the story coming from her perspective—it was as if I were sitting and listening to a good friend tell me her story.

In fact there were just two elements of style that stuck out enough to be noticed in this book because both elements slowed down my reading. The first was under-use of contractions in dialogue. The characters often spoke without contractions, making their dialogue slow and stiff. It wasn’t a major issue, but it did slow down my reading just a bit. The second element was the narrator's tendency to "over-explain," sometimes providing lots of little details—such as describing how many towels Alayna used after getting out of the shower (too many insignificant details, in my opinion)—and other times providing too many explanations in the middle of dialogue. Many of the dialogue tags contained secondary action, but in my opinion, not all this action was necessary, and it slowed my reading. At times, I felt the dialogue should stand on its own without Alayna feeling like she must re-explain something to the reader that the reader already picked up on in Alayna’s conversations with others.

Still, the story and plot was strong enough to power me through these two stylistic elements. I enjoyed the story: it was suspenseful and compelling, and I felt like I really got to know the characters. I would recommend this book to fans of the paranormal—a fast and enjoyable read. It promises to be a compelling series, and I look forward to the second book.

I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for a book review. This review is my honest opinion.

Seen like that, the least that we can say, it's that the blurb is promising. That speaks about gift of clairvoyance, of vampires and the covers lets suppose that there are shifters too. And well, it is the case, and there is still more! Alayna which only wants to begin again to zero, to live a normal life, she have well chooses the worst city for that… but it is not sure that she'll complains that much in the end.

Alayna is a 20 year old young woman, who following the tragic death of her parents, finds herself all alone. She decides to leave everything behind her and to move on, in order to definitively be able to make a fresh start. However, at her arrival, she will make a meeting which will change her life forever: Jayden. Jayden is a strange young man who openly flirting with her since the start of their meeting. Between these two there are sparks immediately. But Alayna feels well that there is something which is strange with him, at her new home, in Juniper Grove.

Although the story is above all from Alayna's point of view, in a rather naive and tiring way per moment because of some of her choices, we have discovers a whole panel of supporting characters, essentials through the story. But like always, only a handle is dissociated! Jayden is of course the main one, the romantic interest of Alayna, her soul mate and that which pulled her by inadvertency in this fantastic world. He is rather mysterious but reveals being the perfect alpha as we liked.

Olivia is the cold bitchy girl by excellent. Cat-like which likes power and which is ready to do anything for have it. It is a foreseeable character whom we don't manage to appreciate. Gavin is “the” malicious one of the story, he is the vampire, the man to be cut down. I was disappointed a little by this character who had potential. Sophia is Jayden's mother, a mother whom we would like to have, cordial, generous… all the opposite of her husband, Julian who will have gived me a lot of problems until the end. Darren, Kyle and Violet are the friends always present when need, interesting and which we would like to discover more.

The intrigue is rather simple: Jayden and Alayna will have to fight to be together and survive. In the way, they will have to cope with the pack, challenges and the unknown vis-a-vis with the statute of Alayna. Because what is rather interesting, but finally rather heavy, is that she is unique, the only one of her kind. It's too bad to see that she cumulates all the possible and conceivable differences. It is an error on behalf of the auteure which can push us to get tired of it and find the things too foreseeable.

In spite of certain defects in the installation and the flatness of certain characters, it's readable and we have a good time. The book takes again all the codes of the paranormal lromance and we does not leave the beaten paths. But we felt well that there are potential with this principal couple and the other characters, in particular Kyle and Violet. I will read the continuation all the same because certain points of the story titillated my interest.

Destiny Awaits

Alayna is traveling with her parents. They all decide to pull off and get some food. Tragedy strikes and only Alayna survives the accident. With some of the money from their deaths, she decides to move away and start a new life. A Realtor sends pictures of homes for her to buy. She decides on moving to Juniper Grove. As she arrives in the strange little town, she notices there are not too many people and one of the town rules is no one out after dark. Her new house is huge and beautiful inside. The outside needs work. Jayden arrives at her doorstep and offers to help fix the outside. Together they work to fix up her new home. She sees in Jayden's eyes, the eyes she has seen in visions since she was a child. She knows he is the one who will complete her life. Jayden has already fallen for her. Wants to spend everyday with her. As the outside gets done and he has no excuse to hang out with her anymore, Alayna realizes she doesn't want him to leave either. One night she goes for a walk on her property. Gavin sees his target. As Alayna fights for her life from the vampire Gavin, she hits him and some of his blood enters her. Right before Alayna passes out she sees a dark cat like creature attack Gavin. Several days later she awakens to learn that she has both Vampire blood and now also shifter blood. Jayden, had seen Gavin attacking her.To save Alayan from a vampire fate, he gave Alayna some of his shifter blood to counteract the vampire blood in her system. No one has ever survived with both types of blood. So in just a very short time, Alayna learns not only that there are vampires and shifters but she now is both. What powers with she receive? How will her blood affect others? How does she fit into this world? Jayden is determined to make it work and to teach her of his world. Gavin may have other ideas.

This is a paranormal YA romance. There is mild sexual content but more implied sex that actually talking about it. The story is very easy to read, and has lots of action. I was hoping for more between Jayden and Alayna. I like more romance, but the action makes up for it. You learn as you go, they have been waiting for each other and are meant to be together. This is a good YA book. People who like LJ Smith, Stephanie Meyer or TS Welti would like this book. As some YA books are good reads for most ages, I would approve this one for 15 and up.

Unfortunately this wasn’t one of my best paranormal reads. It was a light read with a quick, insta love romance. A few shifters and vampires were thrown in and turned it into more of an action novel with a few kisses here and there.

I was unable to connect with the characters. It could have been that they were not up to par with my standards or that everything happened too quickly, but unfortunately they missed their mark with me. I felt that Alayna had a good background and a real tragedy that could’ve captured my sympathy for her but her character diminished within the first couple of chapters. She tried to lighten the mood quite a bit, usually at inappropriate times. It came off as awkward and sometimes fell flat. In all honesty she came off as a little self-absorbed and a as a “woe is me” heroine.

Jayden just screamed weak male. I’m used to he-man, take no bullshit, I run this, I won’t let anything happen to my mate, alpha males. I was expecting him to be more assertive and dominant but all he did was talk a big game and then rolled over and allowed things to play out without getting involve. He was sweet but his character lacked a major shifter element.

The ease in which they communicated was stunted for all the characters. I just felt like their dialogue wasn’t natural. There were abrupt transitions and the sentences didn’t really flow well together. Half of the time everything was fine but the other half was cringe worthy and made wanting to read the rest of the book a challenge. The book didn’t really hold my interest. I was able to read other books at the same time and not really think about picking this book back up again.

I do have to say that the action towards the end of the book definitely piqued my interest. There was a cool spin on a few magical/ paranormal ideas. And thankfully there was a happily ever after. Regrettably I feel like the awkward sentences and unnatural dialogue got in the way of really enjoying this book. It was a great idea but it just wasn’t able, in my opinion, to get that message across.

Many other people love this book so if a light romance filled with paranormal beings that slides into action is your cup of tea I would say go for it. If you’re looking for a little more depth and oomph I’d say something else might be a better bet.

Destiny Awaits Book One in the Juniper Grove Chronicles

Jaidis Shaw

I was given this ARC in return for an honest review.

The prologue sets the scene for the way life will be for a young Alayna Scott. Devastated by a horrific accident, she needs to start over fresh, in a new area with not so many memories. Broken, lonely and scarred, she basically throws a dart at the map and lands on Juniper Grove. A small sleepy town that holds no past or memories for her, something totally new.

After moving to her new home, she meets emerald eyed, hottie Jayden McKnight. He’s taken her new house on as a pet project, decorating the inside, but not getting to the outside, yet. He pops over to introduce himself, and volunteer his services for the yard work. His eyes seem familiar to her, reminding her of a vision she has had since she was a young girl. Mysterious and beautiful, Alayna instantly feels a connection to him, something that hasn't happened in over a year. She doesn't want to get involved because of her past but is so drawn to him, she’s intimidated.

Over the course of the book we learn that not only is Alayna fighting her past, but Jayden has his own demons. After a brief but terrifying encounter with a vampire, Alanya becomes an anomaly, fighting for her future with Jayden and his clan. I loved the character development and the details that Ms. Shaw put in to every chapter. I read this in one setting because I had to know what was going to happen.

My first read by Ms. Shaw and I wasn't disappointed. It was such a different concept from the other books I have read. Intriguing, detailed and edge of your seat action left me waiting for more for Ms. Shaw. This is a paranormal story, shifters, seers, vampires and healers make an appearance. With quirky sub characters, and lots of action, this book is a great read.

If you love a young adult, paranormal romance, you need to pick this book up! I can’t wait to see what book 2 in the Juniper Grove Chronicles has to offer.

Twenty year old Alayna Scott has been through hell and back; being the sole survivor of a horrific crash that killed both her parents. With a broken heart she buys a ‘fix or upper’ in Juniper Grove with the inheritance money, trying to get a clean slate. Packing up all her belongings, she made her way to her new home in this quaint little town.
Little does she know that not all is as it seems in Juniper Grove, the quiet little town with a mandatory curfew for all its residents. There is so much more than she realizes that lurks in the shadows of her new town.

Her new home is lovely and with a little work inside and out, it could be truly amazing. There is even a garden with a fountain that helps calm her chaotic thoughts; the water healing her in ways nothing else can.
Inheriting more than money from her mother, Alayna is gifted with a form of clairvoyance. And in the ripples of the water, she can catch glimpses of the past and the future.

One day while working outside in her garden, she is startled by the voice of a strange man causing her to slip and hit her head on the fountain; the fall knocked her out for a few moments and when she came to, she was staring into the most loveliest green eyes she had ever seen.

Jayden McKnight has cared for the estate grounds long before she bought the home. A good-natured guy that seems genuinely interested in her and the care of her new home but he is battling his own demons. After a few yard work sessions, Alayna starts to consider that this stranger might be a true friend.
She can’t deny the instant connection between them and when things take a turn for the worst, starting with an attack from a man with fangs, it is Jayden that is there to help her cope.

My favorite thing about this book is that you never know what’s coming next. It’s surprising, well written and leaves you wanting more! I can’t wait for the next one, Jaidis. A very addictive read.

This author caught me by surprise! Not only did the cover fit the novel perfectly but the story itself was very uniquely written, I loved it! Once I opened it up, I couldn’t put it down until the very last page. Destiny Awaits is a story about pure paranormal with a touch of romance kicked in. It starts out tragically with a little background about Alayna but just enough to give you a little back story on who she is and why she has become the person she is a year into the present time. Alayna’s character is one that has not grown into her full potential and has had a lot of suffering but you can see that she is still a strong and caring person throughout it. She is not one to just let anyone into her life, except when faith draws her into Juniper Grove and she runs into Jayden. He seems to be drawn to Alayna, and has had tragic events in his past that has made him run away from his previous life also. I do have to say that there were a couple of characters in this story that the author did throw a twist in with them. I thought I had it all figured out, and then she threw in one to turn the tables on me, great job. The way that the author described what happened to these two individuals made my heart hurt for these two. I have to say all of the characters in this novel were a blast to read because they all had their own personalities, I hope to be able to read more of them. If I had to pick a favorite character I am not sure I could because I enjoyed reading about all of them, I do have to say that the one thing I did enjoy the most was how the author added various shifters into this novel and not just one form. The story line is written perfectly and even with it being a quick read I felt like I was being pulled into the story itself. I would recommend this for anyone that enjoys paranormal (vampires, seers, various shifters) but be warned you may want to set aside some time because once you start it you may not want to put it down.

After the tragic accident that claimed the lives of her parents, Alayna packs up everything and moves to Juniper Grove. She has high hopes of starting her life over and she hopes that the small, quaint town will help her accomplish that. Things start off a little rocky however, when Gavin selects Alayna as his next victim, and Gavin is not one you want to cross paths with. Thankfully, Alayna has a hunky shape-shifter to protect her and he will do everything he can to make sure she lives so that they can be together.

Destiny Awaits is one of those books that will instantly grab your attention from the very first sentence and you can not stop reading - yep, it was good! I enjoy all things paranormal, but when a book has both vampires AND shape-shifters - well, I am in paranormal heaven!

With the authors vivid descriptions and characters that 'mesh' well with one another, I became completely engrossed in this story. It was fast-paced, compelling, suspenseful and action-packed. The romance between Alayna and Jayden developed a little too quickly for me. I wouldn't call it insta-love, but it's close. Still, the two of them are not only adorable together, they are awesome characters.

Overall, this was a great debut novel written by a very talented author. I am really looking forward to the next installment and reading more of Juniper Grove and its residents.

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

justify;">Destiny Awaits by Jaidis Shaw, the first book in the Juniper Grove Chronicles, sets the bar high with its intriguing story line, great characters, and beautiful imagery, which will have readers on the edge of their seat from the first page to the last. Alayna is a twenty-one year old who's seen too much tragedy in her short live. She moves to Juniper Grove - a quaint little town in the middle of nowhere - and from the get-go she's got this feeling that all is not as it seems. Well, she's right in that regard ... The whole town is overrun with supernatural creatures! Here she meets Jayden MacKnight (knight in shining armour, perhaps?), whose grown quite interested in her. But there's more to Alayna than meets the eye.

Destiny Awaits is a joyride, and the characters are quite lovable (and memorable).

When I picked up the book, I had a feeling that the love-triangle trope (vampire/human/werewolf-shapeshifter) thing would jump out again as most paranormal romances tend to do, but Shaw was able to create a story where even the norm is different enough to keep you entertained. Honestly, I was hooked when I read about the sign, which pretty much said: "Welcome to LEAVE Juniper Grove".

I quite liked Destiny Awaits and I can't wait to see what Alayna's next adventure will be like. In short, if you love paranormal romances, you'll find great joy in Destiny Awaits.

I fell in love with the characters and the town of Jupiter Grove. Alayna Scott & her parents are driving to her Uncles home for a visit when a terrible accident occurs placing Alayna in the hospital. Her parents were killed out right.

Unable to escape the memories and the pain. Alayna takes the money she receives from her parents estate and purchases a home in Jupiter Grove with cash. Dominic the realtor, loves being paid in full in cash.

On her first day she meets Jayden McKight who can disappear in a flash. Unknown to Alayna, Jayden is a shapeshifter. When a Vampire attacks her and draws blood, Jayden saves her. He attempts to mingle shapeshifter blood with her blood to counter and negate the effects of the Vampire bite.

Jayden hasn't seen his parents in a long time. His younger sister was killed while in his care and he can't forgive himself.

Alayna is a Seer. She can gaze into water and view what may happen, what will happen, what's gone before. Seeing a fight with a haunting dark haired woman who slashes her and turns into a Panther gives Alayna pause.

She meets Jayden's folks who show up at Alayna's new home. They are part of the shapeshifter clan.

A bid to become Jayden's mate is made by the dark haired woman, Olivia. Alayna doesn't know if she can shapeshift but challenges Olivia in the company of jayden's parents.

This novel zips along so quickly that you can't stop turning the pages. If you like vampires. shapeshifters, and things that creep and seek..this is the one for you!!

Can't wait to read the next novel in this great series.
