The Teacher's Billionaire by Christina Tetreault

Christina Tetreault has written a true romance novel. Christina’s writing is good, character description and plot are well written the story flows and you get enough information to get to know all the characters and enjoy the story.

This story is about Callie finding out a secret her mother kept all her life, now after her death Callie learns that her father is alive. Callie’s dad really wants to meet her and make up for lost time. Dylan who is the step son of Callie’s dad starts spending time with her, mutual attraction they begin to have feeling towards each other. But like every romance novel there is a bit of turmoil, Callie over hears a conversation and ends heartbroken.

Will Dylan be able to explain what she heard wasn’t the whole truth?
The Teacher’s Billionaire is a good romance novel, it’s one of those books that you need to have with you when you want to sit back and relax with your feet up.

I really enjoyed Christina’s writing and will read anything she writes.

Simple story and it resembles to harlequin books. I enjoyed and recommend.

Pain exploded in her chest as anger and betrayal sliced through Callie’s heart. How could her mom kept this from her?

“Ruth Taylor wouldn’t lie about something like this.” The conviction in his stepfather’s voice rang out loud and clear.

He was a wealthy politician who sent others to do his errands. What more did she need to know?

She didn’t want Warren Sherbrooke to think she expected anything from him. As far as she felt, he was nothing more than a sperm donor who’d been involved with her mother.

“I said she won’t be around for long. Once the media gets wind of this, they’re going to hound her till she climbs back into whatever hole she climbed out of.” After her final comment Sara yanked her arm free and left without another glance in Callie’s direction.

The paparazzi hadn’t bothered him since his break up with Francesca.

Her brief meeting with Sara told her not everyone wanted to welcome her into the family with open arms.

She knew my parents had someone else in mind for me. To them my relationships were more about business than anything else.”

Basically they wanted him to spy on a perfectly innocent woman.

I don’t think his wife likes the idea. She was polite but there was something about her.”

“Just my half-sister Sara, who definitely does not want me around.”

She’d been intimate with only two other men, and she’d been in long-term relationships with both. Callie flipped onto her back and stared at the ceiling.

“I see you took your job of keeping tabs on her to heart. Maybe you can convince her to hold off on the announcement too.”

“You’ve kept her happy and away from the media. I knew you were the best man for the job.”

I found a free copy of The Teacher's Billionaire ,The Sherbrookes of Newport #1, on Amazon so I downloaded the ebook version onto my kindle pc.

This is a fantastic contemporary romance that focuses on...wait for it...a teacher and a billionaire. All joking aside I really enjoyed this romance.

The premise is sweet: unknown daughter reunited with father she thought was dead and falls in love with said father's stepson. Of course there are some bumps in the road, but like most love stories, this has a happily-ever-after.

Other than a few little misspellings and grammatical errors, I thought this was a top-notch contemporary love story. There was some humor, a little bit of drama, and some yummy steaminess.

I really look forward to reading more from author, Christina Tetreault. She has a great talent for writing and telling a story. I admire any author who can maintain a nice pace and hold the reader's attention.

If you like contemporary romances, give this book a try.

Happy Reading!

This wasn't a bad read for a freebie. I would have liked to see a little more development between Callie and her father, since they didn't know the other existed at the beginning of the book. I would have also liked to see the Dad's reaction to what Dylan did at the encouragement of his (dad's) campaign manager. But overall, an entertaining way to spend a Sunday :)

Callie Taylor is an elementary school teacher whose mother passed away recently. Her mother's friend stops by one day to tell Callie about a letter that Callie's mother requested she mail after she died, a letter that would change Callie's life. Callie's mother had always told her that her father died when she was young, only now Callie finds out that her father is still alive. Not only is he still alive, he is a Senator, and he is running for President. Callie is completely flabbergasted by the news, and just wants time to process everything and deal with her emotions. In the meantime, the Senator has received his letter and is ready to meet his daughter. Warren Sherbrooke's wife and campaign manager want him to take things a little more slowly, and his wife has her son, Warren's stepson, Dylan Talbot over to try and talk some sense into the Warren. After much discussion, Senator Sherbrooke agrees to let Dylan meet Callie first, then set up a meeting.

When Callie hears a knock on the door, the last person she expects to see when she opens is Dylan Talbot, who she recognizes from magazines, and who she also knows is Warren Sherbrooke's stepson. Hesitantly, she invites him in. Dylan explains his reason for being there and tries to set up a meeting for Callie and the Senator, but Callie bluntly tells him she is not interested at this time. Dylan is surprised by Callie's answer, and is even more surprised by how attractive he finds her. After several attempts, she agrees to a meeting. Little did she know that in the process of getting to know her father, she would fall in love with Dylan Talbot. Dylan tries to deny his feelings for Callie, but he just can't stay away from her. She is unlike any woman he has ever known. Things couldn't be going any better for them until Callie finds out about a secret, a secret that breaks her heart and drives her away from Dylan. In the meantime, Warren Sherbrooke has announced to the world that he has a daughter and now the press are having a heyday with the story and Callie has no privacy. Can she survive her broken heart and her new found yet unwanted fame? Will Dylan realize that he loves Callie, and if he does, can he win her back?

This is a charming contemporary romance. I loved Callie's character. She was very real and believable. Dylan Talbot was absolutely dreamy and swoon worthy, and the chemistry between him and Callie is undeniable. I enjoyed watching the story unfold and really enjoyed getting to know the characters. This was a delightful romance with a real life Cinderella feel to it that I found to be delightful. If you are fan of contemporary romance, then you will enjoy this lighthearted and entertaining story.

Okay, I really loved this book more than I hoped. Callie Taylor is an average 31 year old teacher when her recently deceased mother's best friend informs her that her mother has been keeping a secret about her father. She learns that her father is not dead like she thought but he is in fact presidential hopeful and senator Warren Sherbrookes. This throws Callie's world off balance throw in a sexy Adonis Brit and Callie's world is thrown in a tailspin. Dylan Talbot is instantly suspicious when all of the sudden his step father gets a letter informing him that he had a daughter. He intends to get to the bottom of this to she if in fact he is her father and what she wants from Warren. When Dylan meets Callie he can see the family resemblance to his siblings and believes in fact she is Warren's daughter. They both feel instant attraction towards each other and over the course of a few visits he knows Callie is no threat toWarren and he doesn't need to be around but he can't get her out of his head. When Warren's campaign manager asks Dylan to keep an eye on Callie he jumps at the opportunity to spend more time with her. After realizing they have many common interest and have an ease around the other their relationship blooms into something other than friendship. Dylan has been burned before and tries to keep Callie at arms length emotionally but when he is around her he can't seems to feel anything but love and contentment for her. Things go bad when Callie finds out that Dylan has been hanging out with her to make sure she did not spill about being Warren's Daughter even though for him it was not about that. Their brother Jake (I know weird but he is half brother to both) convinces Dylan that Callie is not his ex and that he is in love with her, he realizes that he must fight for the woman he loves. It ends nicely with the couple marring and most of the family accepting her as family (except her sister Sara) and are happy for the two of them.

I love the character and plot development. The book was well paced and no point felt rushed or bogged down. The main characters were endearing felt instantly comfortable reading about them. The secondary characters added to the story especially Lauren Callie's best friend and Jake. I can't wait to see Jake find love.

I have to admit I enjoy a good romance, and this qualifies as a pretty good romance, I would say. I can identify with Callie since she is a teacher (and so am I). I cannot imagine how the news she heard would change my life, and it was amazing to see how it changed hers. I don't think I would have responded too well to the news either. I might even tend to say that Callie was very similar to me in personality, so I easily identified with her.

Dylan had everything going for him. And the fact that he was British made him even more charming to me. I loved the interactions between the two--I would have even loved more banter because it was quite witty at times. He was the perfect gentleman and just your all-around nice guy. I often felt like I wanted to just take Callie by the shoulders and ask her why she was being so difficult. But then, I can understand. I probably would have reacted and thought very much the same thing if I were in her position.

Sometimes the story was a little surreal to me and seemed to be working out too well. Yes, it was even a little cheesy at times, but the romance was fantastic! I was glad that the sex scenes were not detailed. I wish there had been none, but at least a lot was left to the imagination! I often do not like intruding on character's bedroom scenes. I was also pleased that the profanity was incredibly mild. Sure, I could have done without it, but I cannot say I found it overly offensive.

I read at the end of the book that the author was planning a second book about one of the lesser characters, Jake. I think I would like to watch out for that book. The author has an easy-to-read style, and she easily switched back and forth between points of view.

If you like romance, this book is for you!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

A nice story, with emotional turmoil throughout. Callie’s mother has died, leaving a letter to be posted to a prominent senator. When Callie finds out the senator is her father, her life is thrown into an emotional roller coaster. The senator has a wife and family, and was unaware that his past relationship with Callie’s mother had left her pregnant. As the senator is in a candidate race for the Presidency, it is agreed that his stepson Dylan meet with Callie and talk her into a meeting with her father. Neither Callie nor Dylan are prepared for the feelings that arise from the time they spend together.

I picked this one up as an Amazon freebie. It was inexplicable, really, because I'm not generally drawn toward anything with 'billionaire' in the title or blurb. I think I was having one of those nostalgic moments when I saw the title of the series. I had a flashback to one of my favorite movie romances, Sabrina, and picked it up. It was a gut move and turned out to be a good one as far as thinking Sabrina thoughts. It bore a lot in common with it though it was by no means the same story.

The Teacher's Billionaire introduces The Sherbrooke family. They come from old wealth and now are becoming a power in politics. Into their midst a letter arrives and old wealth will meet a fresh and charming woman who is no threat, but they can't believe anyone is not mad to get in good so Warren is cautioned about meeting his long lost daughter and his step-son Dylan is tasked with the delicate job of scouting out Callie Taylor and keeping an eye on her. If he honestly thought her a threat, this would be nothing, but she is exactly who she is and sweet and attractive as well. He's falling for her and now has the guilt of knowing what she will think when she learns the truth.

Callie is shocked at her mother's deception for all those years and struggles not to be angry and hurt at the decision that kept her a secret from her father and vice versa. Now, he wants to meet her and get to know her. Warren Sherbrooke is nothing like she expected and yet, exactly that. His wealth and status are a chasm between their two worlds and she constantly feels it even as she spends time with Dylan and fights her attraction. It can never be more than friendly, right?

This had a nice feel-good vibe to it and had a little drama, but stayed on the gentle side. Callie was a sweet school teacher, loved her dog, Jane Austen, and trips to the beach. My kind of gal. Dylan was a real gentleman even though he didn't think he was a relationship sort of guy. He'd been burned in the past and didn't want to get hurt or hurt Callie because of his issues. But, their friendly encounters and ease with each other drew them together in spite of his past and the difference in their status up to this point. Callie got stubborn about holding back from her family and Dylan using the family wealth as a way to hold back. It got frustrating because it was a cut off her nose to spite her face thing since she knew her dad was genuine and so was Dylan even if he screwed up. But, I get it. Anyone who got a family like that sprung on them and the situation that was going on would feel inadequate and wary. It had a modern fairytale unreality quality to it and that worked for me.

It read fast and was developed nicely though the end was abrupt in comparison. It sorted out quick after all the build up with Dylan's secret watch, her step-mom and sister not wanting her around, and all. The end was left a bit open in some ways though it wasn't exactly missing anything so much as seemed to be setting up a series. Maybe some of that will be followed up on with the rest of the series.

Incidentally, I saw reviews about atrocious grammar and spelling. I read an updated edition so it must have been cleaned up since then so no worries about that sort of thing.

So, while it wasn't riveting, it was sweet and enjoyable, more than meeting my moderate expectations. I would recommend it to those who lean toward sweeter romances and modern fairytale-style contemporary romances. I will most likely continue with the series to get Callie's half-siblings stories because the family was definitely an interesting group.

Dylan and Callie's story was a little far fetched for me. Just seems weird to have his mom married to her dad and they fall in love. What I did not like about this book was the writing style. I did not care for the change in character in the same chapter etc. One minute you were reading it from Callie's point a view, the next paragraph you were now Dylan.

I did love Callie's character. She is not money or fame hungry but unfortunately it is hard for others to believe that. She works hard and really enjoys working with children.
Dylan is also hardworking, putting his job before anything, well at least he used to. I really felt for him when he was trying to keep him professionalism when keeping tabs on Callie but also falling for her at the same time. That must have been very difficult. Callie's half sister is a bitch but her half brother was great. I liked him.

In this contemporary romance, Callie, a sweet and slightly naive elementary school teacher, grew up believing her father was killed in a car accident before she was born.

Having just lost her mother, Callie feels a mixture of emotions when she discovers her mother lied to her. Her father is very much alive, and not only that, he is running for President.

Callie struggles to come to terms with what she has learned, while also dealing with her mother's death and the fact her mother kept this secret from her.

Enter the delectable Dylan Talbot who has an agenda - protecting Senator Sherbrook from the scandal that is sure to come if the press finds out about Callie.

I found this a charming read, and particularly liked the character of Callie, who was naive in a sweet way, but strong and true to herself as she struggles to come to terms with who her father is and her insecurities about Dylan as she develops feelings for him, never believing he could actually 'like' her that way.

Callie's simple life becomes suddenly complicated as she learns more about her new family and gets to know them - and there is trouble brewing as Dylan develops feelings for her, complicating his own role in protecting Senator Sherbrook from scandal in the upcoming election.

An easy read that will quickly draw you into Callie's world with a strong cast of supporting characters (I developed a soft spot for Callie's father and her brother) and Callie's voice stuck in my head well after I finished the story.

I noticed a comment on editing but I don't remember anything worth mentioning - the story flowed well and was of the sort of quality I would expect from a traditionally published contemporary romance along the lines of Mills & Boons (although there weren't any of the Mills & Boons style sex scene - though there was still enough that this story is probably not suitable for teenage readers).

The Teachers Billionaire by Christina Tetreault

Dylan & Callie

NICE, TAME, AND WELL WRITTEN

Ok, first of all, I'd like to start by saying that this was a very well written book... it had everything a story should... great characters, a good plot, plenty of highs and low, but for me it was too tame! In fact, "tame" isn't even in my vocabulary when I'm usually describing a book! I would recommend this to people like my Mom, my Aunt, even my Grandma if she was alive... just because it's so... well.... tame!! There aren't really any "dark issues" within the walls of this book... just a beautiful, light-hearted tale of two people from different sides of the tracks coming together in a nice way!!

Dylan came across as the jaded bad boy, but soon became squeeeee worthy! I seriously hate when they start out nice... I love to see the transformation from "tough" to "nice"!! Callie on the other hand was the perfect combination of sweet, tough, and cute!! It was nice to see how they're relationship went from friends, to lovers, to enemies, and back to lovers again!!! Great cycle!! I loved the additional characters brought in to enhance and liven up the story... and of course Jake is gonna be our main man in the next book The Billionaire Playboy!!

It took me one day to read this... it was 200 Kindle pages long and to me that was just about right... I'll say this one more time, just so you understand... the writing was good, the story was great... but it was just too tame for me.... I need more than just going from "he picked her up and carried her to the bedroom" to "they woke up in each others arms"... I NEED THE MIDDLE... I need to know how big you know what is... and I wanna hear about how tight her you know what is!!!! Bwahahaha!! I'm not disappointed in the book... I've never read this author before, so I didn't know what to expect!!! Now I know!!! I liked it and I'm giving it 4 stars because IT IS WELL WRITTEN!!!

Wow...I really liked it!
It was kept real...you could picture yourself actually there inside the book with the characters.
Truly a fun relax out in the sun on the beach read!
(Don't forget a hottie of your own to rub in some sunscreen!)

The writing was so nice, each scene , each character, worked great.
I think the realism of the places made the book so much better. Being able to pictured yourself on the "not dates" with Dylan and Callie were beyond fun.
I think being able to connect like that also added to the emotional effect that each character had during the book.
Trust me it was one emotion Roller Coaster!
Heck...why wouldn't it be????
Mom's been lying your whole life, rich daddy wants to meet you, step-bro is a HOTTIE and you think your beneath them.

A Cinderella story with a twist.."The Teacher's Billionaire" tugs at your heartstrings from beginning of the book to end.. with Callie Taylor and Dylan Talbot.. It is a sweet romance about an everyday woman whose life is turned upside down when she finds out her father is not only alive..but is running to be the next President and his beautiful English stepson has been given the task of arranging their first meeting!! I loved the chemistry between the two and how they kept trying to fight it..I have one complaint sorry to say Chrisitne it is Jane Austen not Austin!! otherwise I highly recommend this book...

For a kindle freebie it was an okay read, but nothing to write home about, really.

There was some potential in the story for family interrelationships/dynamics, but they were never made use of and this way also the romance was remained flat and one-dimensional.

Raised by a strong single mother, teacher Callie Taylor has always thought her father was dead. But when her mother dies, she learns the truth. Her father is Warren Sherbrooke, a senator currently running for President of the United States. She wants nothing to do with him, or the publicity that would come from the scandal of being outed as a presidential candidate's illegitimate daughter, but her father has other ideas. While Warren Sherbrooke wants to get to know his daughter, his campaign manager is only concerned with avoiding scandal before the election. He asks Warren's stepson, CEO Dylan Talbot to keep her occupied and out of the way. But when Callie and Dylan fall for each other, can their love withstand the pressure of scandal and the knowledge that Dylan lied to her?

This is the first in the Sherbrookes of Newport series, though not the first I've read. It's a love story, both the romantic kind between Callie and Dylan, and the paternal love of Warren for his long-lost daughter. The characters are well developed and the plot is tightly written. Some of the plot points (like Callie finding out that Dylan was asked to spy on her) are a little contrived but overall it's a great book.

Adorable

Loved the story. I actually have read some of this series later on and finally got around to reading this, being the first in the series. Loved Callie. She is really down to earth and handled things so much better than most people. She was lovely and loved to joke and just do normal things so she was at a loss when told she had a senator for a father she originally thought died before she was born. Her whole life flipped upside down. Dylan was adorably sweet and although he wanted her from the start he was also coerced into watching her for the sake of warrens presidency candidacy. Loved how it all worked out. Honesty though felt like more should have been said about Elizabeth’s involvement in the managers plans and how that was the managers idea all along as well. And what warren would have thought about it all. Can’t wait for more.

I must admit that sometimes, just because it is free- does not mean it is worthwhile. I was given the chance to purchase this novel free off of Amazon- through one of my Christian sites; however, this story was far from Christian when it comes to morals and standards. There were sex scenes and language, just many different areas that I would not recommend to any Christian reader. I was disappointed, especially because I thought I was opening up a book that would share my beliefs and ideals.

So the title on this one is misleading I think. I was not expecting so much depth and feeling in this book bewteen the two MC’s. Especially as it was a two-fer; billionaire and step-brother romance.

The whole long lost daughter thing was a nice touch to the story. It gave an added layer so the romance didn’t fall flat. The slow and steady part of the romance between Callie and Dylan made up for the title and cover. TBH, they were both wanting.

Callie was bit too introverted for my tastes. A bit too stereotypical school marm. But I did like how she didn’t let her heart completely rule. She was a bit a loner, an old soul. She had a great head on her shoulders and was always analyzing everything from all angles, even ones that didn’t benefit her, which was both nice and too nice. She took her time getting to know her father but the whole thing seemed a bit sterile to me. Like neither side seemed to interested in getting to know the other but rather how Callie would effect his running for president.

Enter Dylan. Dylan was a skeptic and very loyal to his step-father so when he was tasked with finding out more about this long lost daughter he quickly accepted. But I didn’t get the impression his loyalty was due to love on his part, but rather obligation since the guy basically took care of him his whole life. We never really got to see any bonding moments between them so I wasn’t a big believer the ‘realness’ of their relationship. Yeah, he was a smart businessman but that really has no bearing on their relashionship and it seemed as if it was supposed to.

Now the progressionof their relationship was the best part of this book. Dylan and Callie’s attraction and chemistry seemed effortless to me. Accept when Callie got in her own heads a few times. But other than that it was a slwo simmer romance that made mem smile and thats all I really wanted from this book.

Well... This was a quickie read... and there were several things that brought it down for me, but the author's writing is excellent, so there is potential. Maybe future books will be better.

A problem for me, but maybe great for others, is that this is a clean (only describe kissing) romance book. It bothered me because of all the fade in and out, assume something happened, scenes throughout this book. The obvious romance: kiss, open a condom & wake up next to a warm body part made me start to notice that scenes like this were everywhere. Some were not so fade in and out like.

I just can't handle when authors are having there characters doing something & the very next paragraph they're somewhere else making the reader just read along & not experience what's happening with the characters. This divides the good authors from the excellent writers. I have read over 700 books in the last couple of years & writers people recognize by name do not fade in & fade out or jump scenes without changing chapters.

Another thing that bothered me was the lack of acted out resolution & acceptance to a problem. It was just accepted & overlooked in the epilogue. I am talking about Callie & Sara's relationship. It was weird. (You'll know when you read it)

For being a light romance book, it was kind of strange for the relationship between Callie's father & her love interest was that they were step-brother & sister. I think I would have worked that slightly different as in he didn't live with his step dad since he was six etc. Maybe detatch a little to make it less almost inappropriate like, but oh well.

This was a good free read & I would recommend it as a fast read & if you are not a lierary critic as myself. If you like to pick out flaws in movies like I do, it may not be the book for you. Sorry.

I would reccomend this book to my mother though!

For me, this storyline had too much ‘self talk’ and not enough plot. It was an easy read and a good book to wile away a lazy day, however, it needed more in-depth development. It almost was like three different storylines battling against each other.

✓ …. The billionaire step brother
✓ …. The secret dad and daughter…. neither knew of each other’s existence
✓ … Love/hate relationships with step and half siblings. It was good with the half brother, Jake, but very bad with Sara, the half sister

I needed more detail and depth concerning the three issues above rather than skimming the surface.

👁OBSERVATIONS:

… Sara needs a BIG comeuppance. She comes off as a spoiled little princess. When she dissed Callie’s mother at the fundraiser, that was when Callie needed to take the kid gloves off.

… Lauren, for a teacher, lacks maturity. I’m thinking she wasn’t a vocabulary teacher.

… Halfway through the book and I still kept wondering just what were those lessons Callie learned as a teenager. She keeps mentioning them in a negative way so am thinking something happened to tear her self confidence apart.

... The stepmother brought about a lot of unanswered questions. Her actions were not the best when it came to Callie. How did she resolve her backbiting. Did Callie's dad ever find out what his wife did and the role she played in Callie's misery? Did he ever explain how he truly felt about Callie's mother and that their relationship had been serious and really loving? (Sara, the stepsister, needed to be set straight on that issue.)

So, yes, this was a nice and easy read, but could have been much better had it delved into the 'observations' listed above rather than skimming the surface.

A simple yet endearing book.

Callie lived her life knowing her dad died even before she was born. She lived through that lie until her mother died and a family friend reveals the truth that her father is indeed alive who is a Senator buying to be the President of the United States.

A letter started it all. Warren Sherbrooke, Callie’s father, learned about his daughter’s existence. Now, he will find a way to talk to her and get to know her. But with all the media s eyes in him, he can’t afford to have the news break loose. So they decided, Dylan, Warren’s step son, to meet Callie privately to know if she has any ulterior motives.

Dylan is a rich and handsome bachelor of the Sherbrooke Enterprises. Warren is like a father to Dylan so he decided that it’s best that he himself will take the matter seriously.

I like that the author took time for the characters to spend time together and get to know each other. It’s not the love at first sight kind of thing but the attraction to each other is noticeable especially in Dylan’s case.

The sexual tension between them is very wholesome. If you’re expecting some intense scenes, you will be highly disappointed. Although for me it’s nice to read a book which has more emotional content other than sexual ones once in a while.

Something that made me disappointed is the ending. I think it was abrupt and there were issues that didn’t have a closure as what I expected.

This was an ok freebie. I liked the plot and the characters. This was a good book and written well, but it didn't really catch my interest. It felt a little tired, slow, and drawn out. There wasn't really anything wrong with this and it would be good for something to read to pass the time. I liked the Jake character though. He sounded a little more interesting. The dad was a good character too. I don't think I would end up reading this again but overall not a bad book. Good Luck

Jan 2014 Erotica/Romance/Smut Review Challenge - to catch up on my backlog.

What is it with all these characters being billionaires? Don't poor people have sex, too?
The story could've used more clarification in the beginning to show that there wasn't some sort of incestuous tie between the two main characters. Communication, of course, could've fixed the problems. Trite.
