There is a reason Nida's work has such staying power. He addresses the challenges of Bible translator from the standpoints of a biblical scholar, linguist, and anthropologist, and provides practical helps for a wide variety of situations (even down to marginal note formatting). He is rightfully concerned about the integrity of the source text and its comprehension in the receptor text, emphasizing meaning transfer rather than simply formal equivalence.
