I discovered I was additcted to the paranormal when I was quite young - I blame it on the super heroes. Damn you, Wonder Woman! That passion led me to a number of amateur theatre productions in my home town, then ultimately to a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts.
It wasn't very cool to spend five years working my ass off for no money. But, I have to say, it was then that I made my first attempts into the literary world. The first ones were writing children’s plays for my family’s language school. After a couple of blunders, I decided to translate Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream into a dancing and kicking play. It was so much fun that after that, let’s just say that I caught the bug.

Beauty of Goodreads is finding new authors and genres. I've recently started reading paranormal romances and have been kicking my own ass for waiting this long! Found this gem and it was great. Dragons and vampires. What more does one need. Usual elements of mythology, with a heavy influence from the Greeks. I enjoyed reading how the Vampire King Tardieh joins forces with the Draconian demigoddess Zoricah to hunt a serial killer targeting vamps, draco's and fae's. Secondary characters were just as intriguing and I'll definitely be reading the next book in the series.

This amazing story opens with Tardieh, the son of the Vampire King, imprisoned by an evil torturous draco named Vrajitor and his razbian guards – lizard-like creatures that aren’t the brightest pennies in the box. Nearly at death’s door, Tardieh knows it won’t be long before he perishes as his vampire lifeblood is draining out on the floor. When a beautiful draco woman, with dark honey-colored eyes rather than glowing yellow eyes, helps him escape, he finds himself drawn to her even in his weakened state. When she allows him to feed from her, he wants more than her hunger quenching blood. He’s even more amazed to discover that his savior is Zoricah, the draconian demigoddess. After she leaves him at the base of his castle after asking his help to end the war between dragons and vampires, he discovers his father and everyone he’s ever known has been murdered.

Never will he trust a dragon again or so he thought. When Zoricah uses particularly unusual methods to gain an audience with Tardieh over two hundred years later, he’s more than wary of her – he’s very suspicious. He’s lived his long life with constant protection so that what happened to his father won’t happen to him. She reminds him of what he told her after she rescued him from his tortured fate. From this night forward, you will always have an ally in my kingdom.

Zoricah is planning to cash in on Tardieh’s promise of always having an ally to help her discover who or what is kidnapping sujhas - vampires and dragons of impure lineage – and experimenting on them. Teaming together, she and her girls – Yara, Sam, and Drew – and Tardieh and his protectors and friends – Hikuro, Dyam, and Joel - set out to rescue Drew’s twin sister, Deidre from the person or persons holding her prisoner and using her as a guinea pig.

DRAGON HEAT by Ella J. Phoenix had me glued to the pages from the very beginning. Mesmerized by the uniqueness of creatures she’d conjured to create this story of magical paranormal featuring dragons, shape shifting panthers, vampires, and humans with supernatural abilities, I inhaled this story and since she left me with a tantalizer teaser at the end, I’m eager to read the next one in this amazing series, VAMPIRE THIRST. Ella has created a world that exists alongside the human world and where these strange and exotic creatures move and live among us in our normal space. With the added danger of a serial kidnapper and murderer in their midst, the ante is upped and they must pool their abilities, their strengths, and their trusts to overcome the evil that preys on them all. And yes, that desire too strong to resist still burns between Zoricah and Tardieh and yes, they try to fight it but it’s one battle they most certainly lose. More magic ensues, worlds are crossed, bargains are struck, and love conquers all.

I highly recommend the fast-paced novella, DRAGON HEAT by Ella J. Phoenix to all lovers of paranormal romance. You will be amazed at how much story she packs into so few pages. You will be caught up in the imagery, the magic, the suspense, and the romance only to be eagerly begging for more by the end. Don’t worry there is more to come and I can’t wait to read the next one as their search for the evil villian continues.

*I received a copy of this book as part of LibraryThing's Member Giveaways program in exchange for an unbiased review. Brief plot spoilers may follow.*

I thought this was a great book. I liked that all of the main characters were so different from one another; it helped to bring home the fact that they were all individuals with their own stories. There was just enough description about each character to set them apart, but just enough mystery to make us wonder more about them. I loved how descriptive the author was in the book; everything, from appearances to surroundings, was described so vividly it was like I was there. In fantasy or supernatural books I think this is an important detail and the author nailed it for me. I liked that there was detail even in the action scenes, another element that is sometimes overlooked and underdescribed. I got a good feel for all of the fight scenes, I could understand and see everything as it played out, and I didn’t catch anything that sounded far-fetched or unrealistic. I thought the story itself was intriguing and I enjoyed getting to see the events through both Tardieh and Zoricah’s eyes. I liked the bits where popular perspectives on supernatural lore were addressed and the author put her own spin on them in the world she’d created. I also appreciated that there wasn’t the typical sense of invincibility among the characters; they all had an Achilles heel. She did an excellent job of creating her own world and redoing things to give them a sense of authenticity to me. Typically, I see vampires and werewolves having the forbidden romance, or one of the two with a human. I don’t often see vampires and dragons mixing it up and I loved that this book gave me something different.

Even though this was Tardieh and Zoricah’s story, I still felt like I didn’t learn much about where either of them came from. There were still a lot of gray areas in both of their histories, and I think that would have been fun to explore. I don’t think we saw the full potential of either of these characters’ abilities, which is both a good and bad thing for me. For a vampire king, I thought Tardieh would have had a bit more finesse in the bedroom LOL, but I’m thinking that the feel the author was going for was one of raw passion, so I got over it. Lol I was hoping we’d get to see them navigate the waters they were about to endure by being together, but the book ended rather abruptly, so we don’t get to see how they do it. I’m sure they’ll be in future installments in the series, but it’ll be as background characters, so there won’t be quite as much attention paid to them. I noticed a few typos throughout the book and they were distracting, but I could still decipher what the word was supposed to be.

Overall, though, I really liked Dragon Heat. This is a smaller, probably stranger note, but I also liked that it was on All Romance, because I frequent the site often and think it’s probably one of the best sites to check out if supernatural romances are your thing. If you like your heroines tough and your heroes tougher, love fantasy and the supernatural, and can’t resist star-crossed situations, then check out Dragon Heat.

I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this book when I started the prologue. Not that there was anything wrong with it. It was actually very interesting, but it was also very dark and violent. Even though it was set in 1800 Romania, I was afraid it was going to set the tone for the entire book. Not only am I glad that I was wrong, I’m very glad that I didn’t just skim over it. It gives readers some very important history and character background. It also sets up the reason for the animosity between Tardieh and Zoricah.

Tardieh was the king of the vampires. Zoricah was a dragon goddess. On the night they met, Zoricah freed him from a torturous imprisonment. That was the last time they had any contact with each other and when they parted their races were in the middle of a violent war. Zoricah thought that there would be some tension between them when she came to him for help over a century later, but she didn’t expect raw hatred.

Zoricah and Tardieh weren’t the only characters that were suffering from trust issues though. Zoricah’s fighters, Sam and Yara were shifters who didn’t trust the vampires at all, especially where Zoricah was concerned. Hykuro, Joel and Dyam made up the king’s guard and after Sam attacked Hykuro, the vampires had their own trust issues. Because the threat they were facing was attacking both vampires and dragons they had to find a way to join forces and fight as a team instead of against each other. I love stories with impossible odds.

The romance between Zoricah and Tardieh was inevitable but not forced. Their attraction was strong, but they both fought it – for very different reasons. There were also sparks flying between the supporting characters, which definitely kept things interesting.

Dragon Heat had some amazing world building and mythology. It was magical and unique. The bad guys were beyond evil and there were also more than just the vampires and dragons that made up the super natural beings. So basically, this book had pretty much everything I like in a good PNR. A semi-broken alpha male, a strong female heroine, amazing world-building and loving and supportive side characters. The best part is that it is the first book in Ella J. Phoenix’s Dragon Heat Series. From the epilogue I’d guess that the next book is going to feature Hykuro and Sam. Because of the tension between those two in Dragon Heat, it’s sure to be an interesting story. I can’t wait!

I just finished reading Ella J. Phoenix's book, Dragon Heat. This is book one in her new Dragon Heat series. This series begins with the Draconian demi-goddess, Zoricah, rescuing the Vampire Prince, Tardieh, from imprisonment by the Draconian people during a civil war over power. Neither one is sure if they can trust the other. But, let me tell you the amount of chemistry between and Tardieh and Zoricah makes you sit up and take notice - and they are interrupted before anything can come of it.
Two hundred years, and a time of peace later, finds Zoricah seeking out Tardieh's help in finding the missing daughter of a Draconian Senator, Deidre (who is a dragon twin, which is very rare and treasured)... and the chemistry is stronger than before. Even though they both fight their feelings for one another and the trust issues they have keep coming to the surface, Tardieh and Zoricah finally give in to their feelings and come together....
Just as Zoricah and Tardieh find their way together, circumstances arise that have them separated in searching for the leading person behind Deidre's abduction as well as the massive abductions of females from all races. And this is where the book leaves you - wanting to know more!

I had to pre-conceptions when I fist started this book. I had never heard of it, but the blurb intrigued me. The parts that really loved in this book were about Sam, a human with powers that Zoricah rescued from a mental facility, and Hikuro, Tardieh's second in command and loyal protector. What can I say about them? Not much is know about Sam and her history but you can see that she has suffered some great trauma that she is not fully recovered from. Hence, I want to know more! And, oh Hikuro..... That vampire.... SO MYSTERIOUSLY HOT! Sam and Hikuro get off on the wrong foot and the chemistry they have...like fire! I wanted to know more about them both and what was going to happen with them!! It definitely made me want to read the next book to find out what happens next with all of them!

I have to say that Ella has defiantly won me over. Ella will be on my auto buy list from now on.

Dragon Heat started out with a bang. I really love how we get the back story in the beginning for Zoricah and Tardieh. There is a glossary of terms to help at the beginning of this book. Ella does a great job of giving explanations as the book goes on so you aren't left questioning what? and when?

Its very well written and the pace flows perfectly keeping my attention the whole time. I loved this book because of the dragons. What a treat! I haven't found many books with fascinating dragon's in them so this one was great..

Zoricah is a demi-goddess and she is also a bad ass dragon with beautiful dark golden wings, she can shoot fire whips!! Hello.. how cool is that? Totally loved it :)

Tardieh is a handsome vampire king. They met 200 years ago when Zoricah saved Tardieh before he was king. When they cross paths again they have to find a way to work together. Will they be able to overcome everything and find happiness? Well you will not want to stop reading to find out, I can promise you that :) Their chemistry is off the charts. The sex scenes are erotic and sexy with lots of passion and emotion.

In this dark, magical and oh so sexy tale we are introduced to many intriguing characters that play big roles in the story. You will want to read more about each of them. The mix of all the extraordinary characters added to the story's allure. I can't wait to read more about Zoricah's team of warriors and Tardieh's team of warriors.

Oh boy! The ending was amazing.. It sets you up for the next book so you will be wanting to read it right away, so make sure to buy it!

Ella, delivers a dragon and vampire love story like no other out there today. Zoricah is not only a dragon, but she is also a demigoddess, so you get the addition of mythology added with the story. The author added a lot of imagination in the world building and she brings you a lot of great characters that you’ll want to keep reading years to come.
Tardieh is a hot vampire and Zoircah is really neat with her dragon shifting and her demigoddess abilities. So be prepared for a really strong heroine.

If you like your PRN’s on the darker side you’ll love this one, the villain is very evil. He does torcher his victims in cruel ways, so be warned.

My only downside was with this being a novella I lost the connection between Tardieh and Zoricah, the spark was there during the Prelude but when Zoricah came back to Tardieh for help I didn’t feel that spark again. I think it was because there is so much world build, action and different characters that it just overshadowed the spark between them. The sex is hot but I look for a good spark and connection between the main characters. You can’t expect everything in a novella and with the story being so different and good I can’t really low ball this book because of a spark between characters. I feel the next book will be totally different and as you can read in this story there is some very heated sparks flying between the next couple already, so I’m definitely looking forward to their book. This also reminds me the H/h gets a HEA but there is a cliffhanger at the end that will leave you wanting the next book A.S.A.P.

I recommend this to any PNR fans that likes their books on the darker side and with plenty of action and a great world build.

Vampires and supernatural beings are all over TV, movies, books, everywhere! I must admit that since Anne Rice's "Interview with a Vampire" came out when I was in college and I saw Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in all of their vampire glory, I have never read a vampire book.... I know! Crazy! So since then (1994!), I have not picked up a book with fangs until I came across Dragon Heat. It is heated I tell you! This book has so many interesting characters that it is hard to pick one. So let's start with the Hotties! Tardieh, the vampire king and his warriors Hikuro, Joel and Dyam. They are all deliciously crafted by the author making them addictive to the reader. Our leading lady is the demigoddess Zoricah and her group of bad-ass companions Sam, Yara and Drew. It all begins in a flashback where Tardieh gets rescued by our Goddess Zoriach. They meet, sparks fly and then, BAM! 200 years go by until their fates meet again. Both Tardieh and Zoricach embark on a mission to rescue females from different species who are being used in gruesome experiments. Ms. Phoenix has the rare ability of giving us a world of supernatural beings that we think we know and gives them a whole new story to tell. Of course blending it with mind-blowing-vapirish-dragon-hot-steamy-f&6^*&-ing sex! Take a few seconds to digest that! Every character in this book deserves it's own book. You will meet gods, vampires, shifters, dragons, razbians and soartas. My faith in vampire books has been restored! I can see this in a movie! Let your teeth sink into it tonight! The series has three books, there will definitely be more reviews to follow ;)

Narration: Multiple third-person

Character Development: The two main characters of the story are Zoricah (a draconian demigoddess) and Tardieh (the vampire king.) Zoricah and Tardieh first meet in the prologue about 200 years ago. Zoricah is a woman set on saving her people at all cost. She’s a strong character and fights for what she believes in. She is also willing to work with draoncian’s natural enemies – vampires – to help her fellow friends. When we first meet Tardieh, he is in a difficult situation. Going against his instincts, he allows Zoricah to help him. He struggles with what his father would do and what he feels is right. To make matters worse, he becomes smitten with Zoricah an archenemy of vampires. But, with his own people at stake, he must decide if he can trust her.

Plot Development/Flow: The story moves along very well. There are some dark moments in the book for those of you who are not particularly fond of them. Zoricah has discovered that someone is kidnapping draconians (as well as vampires.) Although she is not exactly sure what is happening with them, she becomes more involved when her friend’s sister is taken. She calls upon the help of the vampire king, Tardieh. She hasn’t seen him in over 200 years and she feels a stirring for him – which could be bad because it is distracting her from the job. Can the vampires and draconians work together for a common cause? Or will their differences (and the distractions) cause them to go off course?

Draconian and Vampires have been enemies for centuries, but in order to save innocent lives Zoricah and Tardieh have to put their differences aside. Since he’s the Vampire King and she’s a Draconian Demigoddess, completing the task at hand will be both dangerous and difficult.

With the help of their comrades, the two diligently search for a killer that has targeted females from both of their races. Struggling with an unremitting desire to be close to one another, they are each determined not to be the first to give in. They’re not alone, however, in this battle of the wills.

Sam, one of Zoricah’s warriors, and Hikuro, one of Tardieh’s guards, can’t decide whether to kiss or kill each other. With both aching to do the former, they are caught in a tangled web of honor, duty, loyalty, and love.

This is a wonderful novel that captivates the mind and stimulates the imagination. The battle scenes and personal history of each character were perfectly depicted and easy to follow. Erotic moments throughout the book left me in need of a cold shower and wanting more. With a variety of mythical and paranormal creatures, I feel this book was true to its genre and a great read. I can’t wait for her next novel!

I found this to be a surprise, for me it wasn’t your normal run of the mill vampire story. I did find it to be interesting. The book started off with a bang and then when we moved to present day I got lost. You will be happy to know I was found and the book took off. I found it to be an enjoyable read with many characters and lots going on. You have mystery, romance and paranormal aspects. A fun and entertaining read that many fans of the genre will love.

The romance between Zoricah and Tardieh was strong even though they fought it. There is nothing like a book full of sparks, and you have them all over the place, even the supporting characters have sparks flying.

This is the first in a series that features a shapeshifting dragon demigoddess, Zoricah, and a vampire king, Tardieh. They uncover a sinister plan to create a pliable army of minions by breeding dragon/vampire hybrids with razbians, a lizard-like species that is aggressive, vulgar, and biddable. Along the way, Zoricah and Tardieh fight, kiss, and have make up sex.

It is an usual read but a very enjoyable read. It you love paranormal you are going to love this book. I give it a 3.5 and rounding it up to a 4 star.

I... wasn't enamored of the beginning of this book. I enjoyed the dark opening scenes but then we flipped over the modern times and I was floundering a bit. In the "who are these characters and where are the two I met before" sense. Overall, there were things I liked (the bad guy was wickedly nasty and the world building showed great potential) but they were offset by the things I was iffy on (the reactions of the characters seemed forced at times and there were instances where things happened that made no sense to me).

I liked the secondary characters of Sam and Hikuro and I really dug their interactions. In fact, Hikuro's creepy staring was awesomely stalkeresque and made me want to see more of the two of them.

Not a bad book, by any means, but I never really got on board with all the things that were happening and I didn't connect with the main characters nearly as much as the secondary characters. I guess it's a good thing that Sam and Hikuro look like they'll be front and center in the next book.

Tardieh has been captured struggling to hang on until he's rescued. He doesn't hold out much hope of that happening either but he couldn't be more wrong. What appears to be a slave girl gives Tardieh his chance to escape. Zoricah, Draconian Demigoddess, works to rescue Tardieh to end the war between both of their kind. Zoricah tries to extract a promise from Tardieh but he denies it. Flash Forward to the present day, someone is taking female dragons and vampires for unknown purposes. Tardieh, is King of the Vampires has learned his lessons well in trusting people around him. When he receives a message from Zoricah sit up and take notice. Tardieh believes that Zoricah responsible for his father's death and won't listen to reason otherwise. Will Tardieh listen to Zoricah? Is Zoricah deny her feelings for Tardieh? Your answers await you in Dragon Heat.

This new to me author presented such an unique world that plays out in ours. The story and characters were raw, honest, real, smokin' hot, compelling, and intriguing too. Definitely looking forward to the next book Vampire Thirst. Until then Happy Reading!

WOW! While it was a bit of a slow start, once it got going. It went! Full of action, excitement, a touch of mystery, romance and original paranormal aspects. A fun and entertaining read that many fans of the genre will love!

Tardieh is a vampire that is next in line to be king. He has a much clearer view of the world than the current king, and is constantly told as much. Fighting a war against other paranormal beings, most innocents, is a difficult thing to live with and he would like to change that one day. That day actually comes much sooner that he thought it would and he finds himself not only the new king. But enamored by a beautiful female that is known as his enemy.

Zoricah is a beautiful, powerful dragon shifter that holds many secrets. After saving a very important person’s life, which she hopes can bring much desired peace amongst all paranormals. She finds herself falling head over heels for a sworn enemy.

I really enjoyed this story and look forward to much more from this author!

I received this book in exchange for a review. The blurb sounded like a good bet--dragon shifters and vampires and romance. Fun! However, I found myself lost with all the special terminology and the complete lack of world building. Also, the romance was ridiculously short, bordering on insta-love, or at least lust rather than love. The book starts out in the past, with a prince being tortured, and the hero and heroine meet. Once the action moved to the present I had a hard time keeping the various males and females apart. I also didn't like the torture scenes in past or present. The sacrifice made in the name of love wasn't believable to me given the short duration of the relationship; although it did do a neat job of solving a difficult problem. There were a few misspellings (my favorite was the use of "crouch" instead of "crotch"), but only about 3 or 4 and they were easy to interpret. In general, the book read like it was 5 books into a series rather than the first book.

Steamy (and I mean with a capitol S) paranormal romance. Tardieh a vampire princes owes his life to dragon demi-goddes, Zoricah. Vampires and Dragons have been enemies for centuries so Tardieh was amazed by his rescuer. Now as King, Zoricah has come to ask Tardie's help. Should he trust the dragon as his heart insists or be wary that she is up to something. Great read and an excellent way to spend an afternoon in the sun. Look forward to reading more from this author.

The first book in the paranormal Dragon Heat series is an intriguing and unique read about vampires and dragons. The world created by the author is fascinating with some very interesting concepts and twists that surprise the reader and keep them guessing, making a very good storyline for the series and giving future books lots of potential.

This book is about two paranormal species (dragons and vampires). The two main characters are mortal enemies that overcome all for love. While I love vampire novels I have not read many involving dragons as main characters. I found this fantasy world intriguing but not without its violence and disturbing scenes. Over all enjoyed this books.I received this book in exchange for honest review. (

This book is only 170 pages and it is attempting to do a lot in those 170 pages. The author is setting up the world building. She is introducing all the characters. She is giving us a villain and a conspiracy to be solved. She is also giving us a romance for our main characters. It is a lot to accomplish in just a few pages. While in some respects if fails, in the most important aspect, she succeeded. Simply put, I want to read more.

Dragon demi-goddess Zoricah has been tasked with finding a missing senator’s daughter. Someone has been kidnapping dragons, vampire, and fae women and experimenting on them. Each time Zoricah gets close, all she finds are the remaining mass graves. This time Zoricah has a secret weapon, the missing woman’s twin. Everyone knows that dragon twins share a special bond and can feel each other through that bond. Zoricah might just be able to find the women before it is too late but she needs help. Two hundred years ago during the dragon/vampire war, she saved the vampire prince, Tardieh. Now she hopes he will return the favor and help her. Tardieh is now the vampire king and he is hard to locate. He is always elusive, hiding from assassination attempts. Zoricah and her friends will need to be tricky to finally set up a meeting.

A reluctant Tardieh agrees to look into these kidnappings that Zoricah claims are happening, but after meeting the dragon twin, he starts to become a believer. Tracking down the missing women is hard enough. Getting through the defenses and actually finding out who is experimenting on these women and what they are trying to accomplish is something else.

As Zoricah and Tardieh work together, the spark from long ago starts to simmer into something more but not everyone is happy about it. There are those who are unhappy about the truce between the vampires and dragons, nor are they happy that the vampire king is cozying up with the dragon demi-goddess. Now that Tardieh has come out of hiding, they believe it is a perfect time to strike and take out both the vampire and the dragon and hopefully re-start the war they want to win this time.

THOUGHTS:
I was given a copy of this book by the author so that I could catch up for her upcoming Book 5 release. I read the descriptions for the four books in the series so far and was interested enough to give it a try.

As I mentioned, the author is trying to do a lot in only 170 pages, and the last few are part of the lure for book 2. So in approximately 160 pages, she is trying to accomplish a great deal. She introduces us to the first time Tardieh and Zoricah first meet, 200 years ago, when dragons and vampires were at war, which is still an underlying theme since not everyone is happy about the peace. She has to set the foundation for the continuing “conspiracy” that is being investigated by Zoricah and her friends and Tardieh and his friends since it is bigger than just one story. First Zoricah needs to find Tardieh and convince him to join her investigation. She also gives us a little bit of an introduction to the secondary characters who will each be featured in the next stories, enough so that we will be interested in seeing more.

So we have unrest between dragons and vampires. We also know there are fae and shifters in the world. We have a conspiracy which needs to be solved. Bad guys to be introduced to. Main characters that need to be introduce and loved. We also have Zoricah and Tardieh who need to fall madly in love and have HEA. Did the author accomplish it? Yeah. Was it fabulous? Meh. It’s a romance and I didn’t feel as connected as Zoricah and Tardieh as I should have and their romance was too expected with not enough passion behind it.

Although I won’t be putting this book on my best re-read shelf, I will tell you that it accomplished its most important goal — I am interested and invested in the characters. I want to see what happens in Book 2 (and after reading 2, I want to see what happens in book 3). Dragon’s Heat tried to accomplish a lot in very little time and while it might have lacked in certain aspects, it has me wanting more and that is what you want most if you are creating a series.

Dragon Heat is only $.99 at Amazon and certainly worth the dollar investment to see if it grabs you too. I’ll be back soon to discuss book 2, Vampire Thirst.

Dragon Heat, by Ella J. Phoenix

Wow! Talk about hot! And I'm not just talking about the dragon fire!

Zoricah, demigoddess, leader of the dracos, is on a mission to stop the maniac who is abducting and killing women of all kinds - draco and vampires alike. In her efforts, she tracks down Tardieh, king of the vampires, to enlist his help. Two hundred years ago, she saved his life, and she's banking on that debt, but dracos and vampires are sworn enemies, and he harbors suspicions that Zoricah is the one behind his father's murder.

Miscommunications aside, they unite to save draco Drew's twin sister. When they find her, Deirdre is pregnant with some hybrid being that is slowly killing her, just as the other women were before they died from the monster inside of them.

The two join forces with their small groups of elite fighters and track down the man responsible. At least, they think they do. The tension between the two groups is believable and suspenseful. It adds a dynamic that really enhances the story.

This book was fantastic. The romance was steamy, the story was gripping, and the whole thing was bursting at the seams with creativity. I have to admit, I was worried when I saw there was a short glossary at the beginning of the story. But Ms. Phoenix is wonderful at inserting short explanations in with the made-up words so I never once had to look back at the glossary. And her lore is amazing. She has created a world where I would definitely like to live!!

There are surprises at every turn in this book, and it will keep you wanting more. Including the cliff-hanger epilogue!

I'm certain you will enjoy it as much as I did!

I was given a copy of the book in return for an honest review; no other compensation was received.

Zoricah rescues the vampire prince Tardieh who is being held prisoner and tortured. Two hundred years later she needs him to help her rescue women (human, vampire, and draco) who are being kidnapped and used in experiments. He does not trust her feeling that she killed his father but he's not entirely sure about her past and his father. He knows he's attracted to her.

I enjoyed this book. The world building is good and this sets up the series very well. A glossary is provided at the beginning but I wish Ms. Phoenix would have explained the terms as they occurred the first time in the story as well. I had to rely too much on my memory of what some of the terms meant.

I liked the characters. Zoricah and Tardieh are astute and wise. They try to figure out why the other is doing what he/she is doing. They try to outmaneuver each other but their attraction gets in the way. I liked the teams they have around them. It seems each will have a story to tell. They are all strong characters.

The story was done well. I like how the world is built throughout this first story. The rules are set out. There is a language and mythology set up for this world. It will be interesting to see where the story and the world goes from here. The bad guys always seem to be a step ahead of Zoricah and Tardieh and their people. Hopefully they will soon be ahead of the bad guys.

Tardieh is a main character in all 4 books, but book one is about how he became the king of the vampires and how he rules them now.
Book 1 – Tardieh is soon to be crowned King of the Vampires under his father who is now King. Tardieh is anything but happy about it, he does not want to be king he just wants to live his immortal life the way he wants to, but it all changes when he is taken captive by the enemy and Dragon Lord. Subject to various and gruesome tortures Tardieh is all but given up when suddenly he is rescued by a lovely yet mysterious woman, Zoricah the dragon demigoddess that had been disowned by her own people because of what she was. After rescuing Tardieh she leaves him with just her name. Many years pass a hundred or so, when suddenly Tardieh is taken aback by a woman who gets his attention in bar. As time passes many thing change and change again. Quite a good novel and series.

Welcome to this book review!

4/5 stars

Well hello there, first of all disclaimer I received this book for free in exchange of an honest book review.
This book was REALLY GOOD, though it took me a while to actually enjoy it my heart was pleased by the romance and well my brain was pleased by the world. It was really good and the writting was beautiful, I loved the little twists and turns the book took and even though it wasn't the best book I've ever read, I loved it !
I can't wait to read the rest of the series and hopefully get more of these two characters and their love stories!

Thank you for reading!

See you next time,
Love Bookarina -xoxo-

The storyline was pretty good, but there were just too many holes and too many things that bugged me about the lack of editing (and not just spelling errors... serious plot holes, people.) I must say I'm mildly curious where this series is supposed to go, but I don't find myself intrigued enough to want to read the second one. This book wasn't a favorite and ended up just not being for me.

This is a short, paranormal romance. Book 1 introduces us to a wide range of supernatural creatures including vampires, shifters, gods, demigods, and humans with exceptional abilities. The storyline is on the formulaic side with little in the way of character depth or world development. For all of that, this was a quick, enjoyable read.
