Two wounded Union soldiers will die without proper treatment. Sabrina Patrick realizes they won't get it at the Confederate army hospital where she helps nurse the wounded men. She does the unthinkable and takes them to her home.
Jason McCain’s pain is eased by the feel of clean sheets, a soft bed, and a touch that surely must belong to an angel. But what reason could an angel have for bringing him and his brother here?
After reading several fictionalized story accounts of real historic events in the Civil War, I wanted to find some romance stories in the same time period. I grabbed this one to start with because it was a short novella and it sounded right up my alley.
Loved Sabrina's heart and compassion and strength to do the right thing, even if it was hard. Loved Jason's survival drive and honesty and the way he saw Sabrina.
If you have just a little bit of time and want to have a fast, light-weight, cute and sweet read, this fits the bill!
Pierson pens a suspenseful civil war romance with "Jason's Angel." Jason McCain is a Union soldier injured in the heart of the Confederacy. Sabrina Patrick watches how Jason and his brother are treated at the hospital and takes great personal risk to bring them to her home. As Sabrina nurses the men, she develops a friendship with Jason. Will the allegiances of war ultimately tear them apart?
Pierson's writing is easy to read and draws the reader into the story from the first page. The plot flows well, building suspense effortlessly. Pierson paints vivid pictures of the setting with a good economy of words. Jason embodies Pierson's wounded hero, harboring a noble heart and putting the heroine first. Sabrina is gutsy and caring, wanting only the best for the hero.
The romance is sensual with Jason and Sabrina sharing a kiss and several intimate embraces. "Jason's Angel" is a sweet romantic escape to another time and place that will tug on the reader's heartstrings.
Jason McCain's angel is Sabrina Patrick, a Confederate woman. She did the unthinkable and took him and his brother in when they were wounded and left to die at a Confederate hospital. They were Union soldiers, but they found peace and comfort in Sabrina's home.
I love Cheryl Pierson's tales about wounded heroes and the heroines who reach out to heal them. This novella may be short, but it doesn't not lack in detail or in compassion. Sabrina is able to put aside her prejudices and look at the man. Jason and Sabrina's love for each is tender and heartfelt. I recommend this story to those who enjoy a quick read to inspire their day and give them pause to revisit the characters long after. Well done!
I loved this story. Right from the beginning, I was caught up in the hero and heroine and their plight. My only gripe--this is a short story and I wish it had been longer. I could have easily read 200+ pages, the characters and setting were that fascinating.
