Camryn Rhys grew up on the border of Canada and the US, and still hasn’t decided which country to call home. She splits her time between the Alberta and Montana Rocky Mountains, with friends and family in both beautiful locations. After running her own restaurant for several years and acquiring advanced degrees in writing, foodie romance seemed the only logical option. When she’s not watching the Food Network, she’s reading a romance novel, or if absolutely necessary, working as a consultant. Someone has to put really excellent food on the table.

No one needs to know Kyle is actually divorced right? He needs this new chef job at the Misbegotten Ranch and if it hinges on him being married so he doesn’t want to flirt with the staff or the paying customers, so be it. Upon first seeing the ranch owners sister, Jamie, he knows he’s in a lot of trouble. Her flawless ebony skin begs for the his touch and those jeans she wears molds to every curve on her body. Jamie isn’t looking for love. Scheming to get her friend’s job as ranch chef back so vows to do ANYTHING it takes. If that includes seducing Kyle, it might not be such a hardship.

Welcome to erotic foodie romance everyone! Didn’t know it was a sub-genre? Well, now you do and Camryn Rhys does it oh so well! Misbegotten Gaines is a family ranch that tailors to singles excursions on the trails. Striving to find that special someone for each of their guests. The one rule of the ranch? The employees are off limits. To guests and to each other. Which makes things even more difficult for the new ranch chef, Kyle when he sees ranch co-owner Jamie. When he was interviewed for the position after the last chef hooked up with one of Jamie’s brothers, he was still married. Being taken made him more attractive for the job since he’d be less inclined to stray from the rule of the ranch. Only problem is that since the interview he’s been divorced and is now on his own.
The chemistry between Jamie and Kyle is palatable right from the beginning. Each trying to control themselves while looking their fill when the other has their back turned. I liked Jamie’s loyalty to her friend even though said friend was a mooch and totally using her. However misjudging she was with her friends character, it was so nice to see that level of loyalty. Though I must say, when her friend is telling Jamie to sleep with Kyle so he’ll get fired by Jamie’s strict brother I wondered what exactly the friend would have to do to get Jamie to see her duplicity. Jamie seems like a smart girl and yet she doesn’t bat an eye when her friend is basically whoring her out. Though the inner workings of her mind tell her how wrong that would be and as she starts to having feelings for Kyle she comes to the conclusion on her own that she just can’t hurt him that way.
I appreciated Kyle’s attempt at restraint in regards to Jamie and thought the smoldering between them was extremely well wrote. Especially since he was supposed to be a married man. I loved the food aspect. I mean come on…good sex AND food? My version of heaven right there. Kyle is part chef and part cowboy and I found him scrumptious. I cringed right along with him when his devious ex shows up though I expected much more on her part then what we got. He talks her up to be pretty nasty and yet she ends up being semi protective of him in regards to Jamie’s mis-handling of their relationship. You know, when she wasn’t flaunting her…errr assets with every male within breathing distance.
The end felt abrupt and not finished. Everything wrapped up way to quickly. There will be two more in this series, most likely dealing with Jamie’s two brothers, so I wonder if we will get a better HEA for Jamie and Kyle within the other novellas. I hope so.
Misbegotten Gaines is a solid erotic romance full of yumminess both on the food and the man front. Emotionally charged and a highly entertaining read!

I give Misbegotten Gaines by Camryn Rhys 3.75 stars!

I have a special fondness for western themed stories so this one was a joy for me to read. Misbegotten Gaines takes place on a dude ranch that offers trail rides for singles to meet. Oh my, right there you know fun things are going to happen on those trails.

Kyle is one good looking guy who sure can cook according to the descriptions of some of those meals. If you are not hungry when you start this book, I think there is a good chance you will be after you read some of these mouth watering descriptions. He is also a nice guy that has some trust issues due to his ex-wife.

Jamie is a charismatic lady with a lot of personality who wants her friend hired back as the cook. She starts out with attitude towards Kyle but things change quickly.

Kyle Harris shows up for his first day of work on the Misbegotten Gaines Ranch to discover that it's not just Dude's running the place. There is one fine young lady that catches his eye instantly. The Chemistry between Kyle & Jamie is intense from the very beginning. These two are so hot they are almost combustible before they ever get started with their first outing.

There is plenty of drama surrounding these two and the fact that Kyle is divorced but everyone believes he's still married adds to the story line. An ex-wife, a friend that takes advantage of a friendship, and the attraction between Kyle and Jamie make this a really enjoyable, quick read. It's under 100 pages so it's one of those books that you can read in a couple of hours if you are lucky to get some uninterrupted quality reading time. Between the steamy scenes, the humor, and the drama there was plenty of reasons to keep me turning the pages quickly.

This is the first chance I have had to read work by Camryn Rhys and I really enjoyed her writing style, I have two more of her books in my to be read pile and I am certainly looking forward to them. Stay tuned for those reviews soon.

I received this book to read in exchange for my honest opinion. It is always my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

Kyle Harris, newly divorced and hired as cook for a dude ranch, finds that to his surprise isn't run by dudes at all.Well, there are some dudes, but one little filly that's very much a woman.

When he accepted the job at The Misbegotten Gaines ranch, in his mind, he pictured a John Wayne type movie where the men run things. Instead he finds the ranch is owned and operated by Brady Gaines, his mom Mattie, brother Paul and sister Jaime.

Everyone except Jaime welcomes him since his being there means her friend Charity won’t be coming back. Charity was the cook before Kyle was hired, but was fired when Brady and Jaime caught her having sex with their brother Paul. As a result, Brady put in a non fraternization policy and hired Kyle because he's married.

Jaime resents Kyle’s presence and decides she'll seduce him to get him fired and get Charity back. Besides some pretty obvious flaws in her plan it doesn't help that she might be a little bit attracted to Kyle. Then to throw a wrench in Kyle’s cover his ex-wife Lana is one of the guests at the ranch.

It was fun to see the dynamics between Kyle and the two women unfold, and it made you wonder when Kyle was going to come clean about not being married. Misbegotten Gaines is a clever story. The characters and situations they created made for an enjoyable read.

Jamie is a misguided and easily manipulated woman who almost lets love pass her by when Kyle comes around because her need to have a friend around that in reality it seems only wants to use her. Kyle is a very sweet guy in need of a job after his divorce. It is assumed that he is still married and he thought it easier not to tell his new employers about his recent divorce. He thinks there should be no problems with this, until his ex wife shows up. Kyle had no plans on getting involved with a woman when he took this job but then he did not expect Jamie. Jamie thought it would be easy. Seduce the new cook, get him fired and get her friend back. The plan does not go so well when she realizes he is too nice of a guy to do that to and she may feel something for him and can't bring herself to do it... I liked Jamie and Kyle, they both had a little something to work through but when you have an attraction like that you can't fight it.. I found both Charity and Lana to be too needy. Paul was definitely the player and Brady was the Alpha take charge type. I really enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend it.

This is a great story set in Freewill, Wyoming set on a Dude/working Ranch owned by Gaines family. Kyle Harris is desperate for a job and lets the Gaines believe he’s married to keep his job. Only he didn’t expect to find Jamie Gaines so attractive.

The attraction between Jamie and Kyle is off the charts and so very explosive. I loved their relationship and getting a chance to see them fall hard for each other.

This is a great story to sit down and read in an evening. It has everything, a strong heroine, a swoon worthy hero who can cook and a setting to dream about with a few meddling supporting characters to throw some wrenches into their courtship.

I highly recommend this story. I really enjoyed it and will pick up more of Camryn Rhys in the future.

I liked Kyle. Jamie got tiresome after a couple of chapters of how wonderful the former cook was. The one who ordered caviar for a 2 week trail ride! Other than her tight short tank top, I don't know what Kyle saw in Jamie. Maybe that was enough for him, but it wasn't enough to hold my interest.
