Rex Kane has always known he was different than his brothers, down to the fact that when he shifts into his wolf form, his coat is completely black. Always in trouble, he is given one more chance by his brother Tristan, the alpha of the Westervelt pack, to bring back to their island a witch who can stop some of the magical assault that has plagued their war-torn home. Rex knows he has one last chance to set things right. Everything depends on him and he cannot fail.
Elizabeth Willow has been cursed to look so repulsive no human eyes can bear to view her. Raised in a gentle coven of witches, she is ill prepared for the realities of the harsh world she now lives in. Raised to mistrust wolf-shifters as witch-killers, she cannot seem to help being drawn to Rex. Even if she doesn't believe she is his so-called mate. He can see her as she really is and is the first person to look her in the eyes in years. Although she is not naturally devious, she sees no choice but to use Rex to gain her own freedom and her family’s safety.
Together, Rex and Elizabeth will see just how evil the people around them can be. If they can trust their hearts, perhaps they will survive another night. If not, both of their battles will never be won.
I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Here i thought this book was going to be about Gabriel but noooo....I had forgot Rex... So yes this book is about Rex. I hadn't realise how insecure Rex felt yet in this book i saw a while different side of him and i have to say i love him! He is so sweet and sensitive and fearce and loyal and funny! Liz on the other hand has known pain and being abused and mistreated her whole life but still she is sassy and funny and just right for Rex. Still their big issue is he is a wolf and she is a witch....Can they both overcome their issues?
And here i am thinking that after finishing the previous book i had finally started to realising what was going on and here i am finishing this book and having the author doing a major turn in my views and once again i am upset cause i have no clue what in the world does Kendrick have n mind!
An amazing world building by Rebecca Royce with a few twists in the plot that truthfully i hadn't seen coming this book is one of the best in the series!(though i think Gabriel's will surpass this in awesomness!!!sorry but i am team Gabriel!!!!)
A must must must must read and so recommending this book and this series!!!!
Have you ever been channel surfing and stopped to watch a show halfway through the episode because it looked good? Well, that's how I felt the entire time I was reading this. The book starts abruptly and relies on many past events to dictate where things go throughout the story and I always felt a little left out. I enjoyed this read but wanted so much more.
I found myself drawn to Elizabeth and Rex and the many likable qualities they had. Elizabeth was devoted to her family and was willing to sacrifice herself and her happiness to keep them alive. She had very low self-esteem, which her servitude to the nasty witch twins only made worse. I felt sympathetic for how badly she was treated because of her grotesque visage that was caused by a curse and how lonely these rejections made her feel. Rex felt equally alone since he looks entirely different from his family in his wolf form and has been made to feel like he can't do anything right by his brothers. He's loyal to a fault and would die for those he loves. With each other, they are never alone and find strength in being together. They have a mutual understanding and feel more confident through their blossoming love. There was sexual tension from the start which was a nice build-up to some smokin' hot sexual interludes. The story's pace was very smooth until the last few chapters which felt a bit rushed with a lot of action-packed things happening.
A lot of action happened before the story even started and a lot happened off page as well. I felt a bit lost at times and felt like I was missing out on the whole story. Not having read any other books in the series was a detriment. I enjoyed the story and the characters but felt like I was getting just a taste as opposed to the whole meal. Intriguing truths were exposed in this story and for followers of this series the implications are mind blowing, but for the casual reader the impact is greatly lessened. I enjoy Rebecca's writing style and her characterizations though and will definitely read more from her in the future and highly recommend her to others wanting a new paranormal voice.
I’ve read all the stories in the series and fell in love with the Westervelt Wolves. When I finished this story, I was shocked. Rebecca Royce keeps the twists coming and I was blind to all of them. Like the rest of the series, Rex Kane is a alpha male and wolf to love, nobel, caring and protective. He’s the perfect man…err… wolf. If only he would believe what we all know, that his soul isn’t blackened. Rex Kane has always felt separated from the rest of his brothers. He’s felt like he keeps doing things wrong and endangering his family. He feels like the betrayer. But in order to make things right with his brothers, he is willing to go out and find a witch that will help them defeat their evil father, Kendrick. Liz Willow is a witch but has been a slave and babysitter to two immature witches. Her life and her mother’s life is on the line if she doesn’t keep the immature witches ammused. But when she meets up with Rex, her whole life changes. He is the only man who can see the real her behind the curse she is under. Darkest Wolf is the seventh book in the Westervelt Wolves series. If you haven’t read the previous stories, this one will entice you to find out more about the other brothers and one sister. But for me as a fan of the series, I enjoyed that chance to reconnect with old friends. I love the romance that builds between Liz and Rex. They are innocent in their sexual passions and as they come together, I found their lovemaking sweet and endearing. While each of them struggle with self-confidence but together they are unstoppable. If you love the series, you are going to enjoy how Rebecca Royce ties up some of the loose ends but still leaves you hanging. Darkest Wolf is a story that will leave you longing for more… more alpha males, more mates, and more butt-kicking against Kendrick.
So after reading Alpha wolf I was really intrigued as to what this author was going to write about next and I wasn't disappointed. Darkest wolf was really really good I really enjoyed how Rex and Liz's relationship developed. It was all rollercoaster ride from start to end and I'm really looking forward to what she writes next. The world she's developed is really complex and the plots draw you in. If you haven't read this book already I recommend that you do and I can't wait to read what she writes next.
Rex Kane has always been the odd brother. He doesn't look like the others as a human or a wolf; his loyalty has been questioned time and time again. Rex himself feels that his soul has a darkness; that he's unworthy. He's out of chances with the pack. The Alpha, his brother Tristan has sent him to find a witch and to bring her back to seal off the island. Rex hates witches, but he won't allow himself to fail. Even though the pack may question his loyalty nothing means more to him than his family and his pack. Elizabeth is a slave. Her mother, once the coven leader lost the pack to an evil witch who cursed Liz. She was stripped of her magic and given to the new leader's twin daughters to serve them. She was also cursed to look so hideous that no one can bear to even look at her. She has now lived for years lonely and abused. Until Rex follows the witch's scent into the same diner his sister Angel and her mate escaped from. His wolf instantly recognizes her as his mate. But he hates witches! And Liz hates wolves! It can never work. Yet, he sees the real Liz, not the cursed face the rest of the world sees. And Liz sees Rex and the honorable, loyal man who just wants to be loved. It's impossible to deny the mating magic.
The two don't start out on good footing. They both have strong, negative opinions about the other's lineage. Rex doesn't give Liz a choice about leaving with him. He needs a witch. He does promise to free her and her family from the curse and she plans to use him to accomplish that as well. As their feelings deepen and the mating occurs Liz plans to tell Rex the truth, but outside evils find them first. If they survive, he may never forgive her for the betrayal. Even if he does forgive her, he doesn't believe that he is worthy of love.
This may be my favorite Westervelt Wolves book yet. It has such emotional depth. Each book gives me a new favorite couple to root for in the fight against Kendrick, but Rex won my heart. His pain drew me in. The hurt he wouldn't allow himself to feel when his family accused him of betrayal, the loneliness he felt, the way he was convinced that he was bad all broke my heart. The action and danger both ramped up in this book and Kendrick proved his strength once again. With a formidable witch and possibly a family member or two on his side, he will be an almost unstoppable foe. Now that we know his ultimate goal, the need for his defeat is even more urgent. But the brothers and their mates are also impressive and are fighting for family and pack, not power. I am looking forward to seeing him fall! Right now I will settle for being happy for Rex.
I thought it was a good story but it felt incomplete in areas. After the buildup of the trip to Florida, the story was rushed at the end. I would've liked more scenes of Rex with Tristan after he returns to Westervelt. I still don't understand why Rex felt he was dark when he really didn't do much to warrant the feeling.
I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. I couldn’t stop reading. I have a strong woman in this story but she doesn’t know it when the book opens. There are all kinds of things going on and close to the end of the book a surprise happens. Loved this book.
This is the next instalment in the Westervelt wolves series and it's just getting better and better! This is Rex and Elizabeth's story. In this book we see more witches and we see more pack drama.
He deserves better from Tristan! He didn't even apologize for accusing him twice without evidence! That's why I stand by what I said before, Michael is a better choice for the alpha spot!
Darkest Wolf The Westervelt Wolves Book 7 by Rebecca Royce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow! Fantastic magical greatness! Darkest Wolf The Westervelt Wolves is the book 7 in the Series by Rebecca Royce and it totally Rocks! I loved it! Elizabeth Willow is a witch albeit a very repulsive looking one that no human eyes can stand to look her, because she has been cursed. Elizabeth grew up in a gentle coven of witches, but she now lives in a harsh world she isn't prepared for what the reality is. Her mother was a powerful witch and she could be powerful as well. She has been raised not to trust wolf shifters because they are witch killers. But she finds Rex Kane irresistible and she can't believe she is his mate. Rex Kane has always felt different than his brothers, when he shifts into his wolf form, his fur is totally black. He can't believe his mate is a witch. But it's just another example of him being different. As always he is in trouble, but he is given another chance by his brother Tristan, to bring back a witch back to their island so that she can stop the assault that keeps plaguing their home. Of course Rex feels this is his last chance to get things right. Oh my! Can things get any worse! Yep, they could their Sparks fly! Fate and love just can not be denied! This storyline is exciting, thrilling powerful, magical, sweet, funny, romantic and arousing. The dialogue is smart, sassy and well written. The characters are adorable, captivating, fascinating and sexy. I love the way Rebecca combines these elements as only she can with her amazing skill to produce an extraordinary read! Sexy werewolf, Beautiful witch, suspense, romance and I hope like me you are unable to stop reading until you read the entire book! I loved it! Fantastic entertainment and a magical read!
This is definitely a book you will enjoy reading. There's action, romance, and excitement for us all. The way the book starts off I needed a Kleenex or two. But I recommend it to anyone wishing to just read a great story told by one of the best authors. I'm not through with the series, as I am savoring each story in it's turn-- but I'm enjoying the journey, and invite others to come along. I'd recommend this series to anyone who likes a strong and likable heroine, an irresistible male wolf shifter and a story full of twists, turns and love. I can't hardly wait to read the next book! This is a SPECTACULAR Read! This story will make you smile and give you lots of romance. If you love witches and wolf shifters then this romance is definitely a fabulous choice for your TBR list. I am hoping there will be a lot more exciting stories. I highly recommend this book! I am looking forward to reading the next book which I already have so I don't have to wait, I can tell this will be a all nighter because I know once I start I won't be able to stop until I finish the book. I received this book for my honest opinion in a review.
If you believe in the world of Paranormal romance the possibilities are endless and fascinating.
I must admit that I am an avid fan of the Westervelt Wolves and I have been waiting for this book and for the series to come to what I expect to be an explosive end. In Darkest Wolf, which is book seven in the series by Rebecca Royce, the focus is on Rex Kane and his witch. It has been a while since I read the previous installments in the series, but I really couldn’t relate to the side of Rex that was the failure and the one who made mistakes. Obviously he has made mistakes and so to make up for that, he is tasked with finding a witch that can help against a magical onslaught being brought to bear on their home by their evil father and their sworn enemies. This time Rex cannot fail.
Rex meets his witch and rescues her. He can see her beauty where others can only see how horrific she looks. Elizabeth is his mate and while she is wary of shifters, she is also drawn to Rex. She has been cursed to look super ugly and she is used to being the way she is, but there are still times when the pitying looks of people get to her. Rex is the only one who can see her as she truly is. Before these two can even begin to explore their own relationship, they must survive attacks by evil witches who are also connected to the evil father who set out to destroy the pack and build an army of super shifter soldiers, only to be thwarted by his mate and the other females of the pack, but not without dire consequences to the pack and their children. Rex has a lot riding on his shoulders and so does Elizabeth. She is responsible for the health and wellbeing of her entire coven which was taken over by the evil witches. Can Rex help her regain her freedom and help save the lives of her family, or is he doomed to make more mistakes and thus also doom the Westervelt Wolves that are relying on him to return with help? Can he trust Elizabeth his mate?
I enjoyed this tale because it revealed a bit more about the Westervelt Wolves and the evil Kane and his connection to the witches, but I really didn’t find myself connecting to the characters of Rex or Elizabeth. I am not sure why this was, and I tried to work out what it was, but just couldn’t pinpoint it. Perhaps it has something to do with the length of the story, perhaps it also related to the characters of Rex and Elizabeth. Apart from these tiny little niggles on my part, the story was well written and I was glad to be one step closer to the ultimate battle between good and evil. I have been desperate to see what is in store for the Westervelt Wolves and what happens to the evil former pack leader and father to the sexy Kane boys, but it looks like I will have to wait a little bit longer. The longer I wait, the more the anticipation builds and I cannot wait!
Book 7- Not a stand alone book. Elizabeth Willow is a Witch not just by name but truly she is a Witch! She was been taken from her coven and be-spelled by a Bad Witch. Now no one can look at her with being repulsed and her powers stripped. Oh and she is the Maid aka Girl Friday for the Bad Witch's Twin Daughters. If she try's and leave or pisses off the twins her mother and coven will be killed. When they stop at a truck stop in New Jersey, nothing will ever be the same for Elizabeth. She finds she can freeze people, OOps she froze the Evil Twins!!! She is kidnapped by a Wolf and not just any wolf a Kane wolf, they killl witchs or so she has been told. Now he is telling her she is his mate, AS IF. She calls her mother and tells her she has a wolf and he is telling her all sorts of things... see if Bad Witch will take him and knowledge for trade of her coven? Damn he can see her for herself and he is intent on making her his mate. She is falling for him. No Way, No How!
Rex Kane is as messed up as they come, he is so different then his brothers. Now they think he is a Traitor to his evil father. Sent on a mission, to bring back a witch to help against the war with his father. This should be no problem! He will prove his loyalty once and for all. The Infamous New Jersey Diner has other ideas. He finds a mess in the kitchen, a cook down and out 2 witches down and out and a pixie of a woman who is a witch and his Mate! The Fates must really hate him! He really does try to head back to the Westervelt Pack, but no one said falling in Love made you do what you are supposed to.
This was a fun book! He couldn't stand witches and she was so cocky and she couldn't stand wolves! A fated match, yes the fates have a sense of humor! The first half of this book takes place in a vehicle, well mostly!! The taunts and heat are right up there to have you laughing and groaning. These 2 fight the mating for all it is worth. Little by little they come around. But fate is not done yet. She is mother of all mothers and she has some twist that knock everyone for a loop even the reader. I had a lot of fun with this book! I look forward to more in this series, PLEASE!

Title: Darkest Wolf Series: The Westervelt Wolves Destination: Book 7, 127 Pages, StandAlone Author: Rebecca Royce Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN #WolfShifters #Witches My Score: #5Stars☆☆☆☆☆ •°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡ I don't think I can say enough about Ms. Rebecca's writing in fact I really hope I'm not being repetitive to much but this Lady is Phenomenal, Awesome yes I love her. Her books always transport me to in this instance Rex and the Westervelt Island. And I'll be damned if I haven't mated 7 men so far, OMG I'm a hussy !! I ofcoarse recommend this book and believe me when I say yes it's a standalone but you will want to read the series. Randolph Kane aka; Rex Prince of the Royal Kane's of the Westervelt Wolf Pack the baby of the Kane Brother's. Everyone thinks he is a traitor, but is he? Rex is a screw up at least he thinks so but is he? This is his last chance to prove to his Pack and his brother's he is honorable. Sent to find a Witch and bring her back to the island, Rex takes off looking Geeezzzzzzz where's he going find a Witch? Elizabeth Willow aka: Liz is a Witch but her whole Coven has been basically put in to slavery all there powers were binded, but Liz received a little more, a spell made her look repulsive to everyone. The only thing Liz was allowed to do is babysit the twins, which she has done for sometime now and they were cruel, evil bitches. It was bad enough she had to be with these crows, then she has to get kidnapped. Geezzzzz is she ever going to get a break? I was gifted this book for an honest and truthful review.
This is book #7 in the Westervelt Wolves series. It is not meant to be read on its own.
Rex is an interesting character. He is constantly dealing with his own internal battles, and couple that with the external turmoil the Westervelt pack are dealing with it certainly makes for an action packed read.
Enter, Elizabeth Willow. Witches and magic have played a pivotal role in the previous books and this one was no exception. Elizabeth is a magically cursed witch who has been made to look so hideous that humans can't look upon her face without flinching (what a horrible curse!).
The story starts off at a certain point in time we were witness to in book 6, except we're taken on a completely different journey.
Between the two of them, Rex and Liz have a rather bumpy ride. I liked the plot twists, some of which I hadn't seen coming, others I had kind of guessed at previously. The story flowed well, with realistic reactions (for most things except the unnatural attraction) and great conflict.
I did notice one discrepency while reading. At approx. 64% through the book (right at the end of Chapter 9) The towel is referred to as a blanket the second time it is mentioned, then at the beginning of chapter 10, it is once again referred to as a towel. It's not really a big issue, but it made me have to go back and re-read the scene because I thought I'd missed something.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and look forward to book #8 and the supposed last in the series. Thanks Rebecca, for adding another enjoyable book in this series.
Randolph "Rex" Kane of the Westervelt Pack is on a mission to retrieve a witch for the pack. Rex being thought of as a traitor by pack hurts a lot yet not to be helped either. Rex discovers his mate to be a witch. Elizabeth (Liz) Willow doesn't know what it means to be mated to a wolf. Liz has been cursed by twin witches mother Drea to appear ugly. Liz believes if she gathers information about wolves it will free her mother and the rest of their coven in the process. Kendrick Kane shows up right after Rex and Liz mate. What does Kendrick share? Will Rex understand Liz's betrayal? Will Liz accept being mated? Your answers await you in Darkest Wolf.
Rex Kane is completely misunderstood by his family and pack. Liz Willow has tried hard to cope with being different since being cursed. Together they make an unbeatable team. Kendrick Kane appears more unstable each time he shows to a member of the Westervelt Pack. Clearly the author is gearing up for the ending of the books. I hope not but alas that's not my decision.
Witches and wolves!! Rex is out to find and bring a witch back to the island as his brother asked but when he finds one she turns out to be his mate. Liz is under a curse by the witch who took over her family's coven and now looks hideous to anyone who looks at her but not Rex the wolf who tells her she's his mate, as if a witch would mate with a wolf. During their road trip to save her family, his idea but she also figures out a way to do it, they mate then you have misunderstandings. Can a witch and Westervelt wolf truly be together?
WOW what a story! As another reviewer said I was expecting the next book to be Gabriel's story but was excited for Rex's. Liz is great, very strong and good match for Rex. There are so many surprises and secrets that once again you just don't see coming, and after the other books you would think the author couldn't surprise you anymore well think again! And Kendrick well I can't wait to find out what happens in Gabriel's story, it's bound to be epic! I received a copy for a honest review.
Rex Kane is a tortured hero! He feels that he has been labelled as a traitor by his family. He has had the bad luck to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and he feels that nabbing the family a witch is his only shot at redemption!
Liz Willow has been cursed and is like a modern day Cinderella to her two nasty twin sister owners. Her family is on the line and she will do whatever she has to to ensure their safety. She may look so horrendous on the outside that no-one can look her in the eye but so far she has met 2 wolves who can..and do!! Rex is way out of her league but she can't help from falling for him. But will he want her when the treachery has been brought to light???
Liz and Rex have been beautifully written. Rex sees beyond her outward appearance to her core, seeing the gentle soul that Liz is. Liz can also see through Rex' hard shell to see how hurt he is that his family think he could hurt them willingly. Some loose ends are tied up but more are unravelling and I'm dying to know what happens next.
Another incredible book! This series completely rocks! A lot of truths revealed in the story this time. I can’t believe I’m near the end of it. I can’t wait to see how it ends, but I’m going to hate to see the series come to a close. I’ll miss reading about these phenomenal characters. Speaking of phenomenal characters... Rex and Elizabeth... what can I say? Such a great couple! Rex is so incredibly fierce and loyal and protective and loving. Elizabeth has an inner light and a strength that even she is not fully aware of. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with... and Kendrick is definitely due for a reckoning. Darkest Wolf is a story filled with surprises, romance, intrigue, and lots of Westervelt drama. I loved this book, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a compelling and riveting read. I am beyond anxious to read the last book in the series!
* I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Wonderfully done!! I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Rex's and Elizabeth's characters are well fleshed out and engaging. I had a very, very hard time putting this one down to go to work. I love, love, love,Rex's character. He's sweet, loyal, and has a soft heart. He feels betrayed right now when his family accuses him of treason. While trying to find a witch for the pack, he finds his mate who happens to be a witch who is bound to two spoiled witches and yes I wanted to call them something different. Can they survive her family problems and his?. Will the circumstances of his conception cause doubt for Rex? I can't wait for the next book!
I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.
Holy plot twist! I'm trying to refrain from spoilers so let's just say Kendrick spouts off a few things that left me going WHAT!!? Rex finds more than he bargains for when he pulls a witch from a New Jersey truck stop (yep the same one from Angel's Wolf). Despite his hate of witches, this one is his mate and Elizabeth has an equal love (or more to point total dislike) for wolves. Fate makes them pull together anyway and Rex feels compelled to save her family, even though his family wants her in Westervelt immediately. What follows is betrayal, sacrifice, magic and several earth shattering revelations! Love this series and cannot wait to read the dramatic end which I'm betting will be EPIC! **this book received in exchange for an honest opinion**
I Tried Y’all… I tried really hard but This book was boring. It was confusing, it was convoluted and it did not hold my interest. I found myself drifting off while reading this story. I was thinking about other books and comparing it to other ones. While I appreciated the basis of the story ( she was ugly because of a curse but because he was her mate he saw her for her true self which was beautiful! Awwww) This book held nothing for me . It was boring enough that I had to stop and read something else because it was putting me to sleep. I will give the author another chance because this might just not be the book for me.
Darkest Wolf -book 7 . Please read this book series in order -each book builds on from previous book. Rex Kane has always been different and he out to prove to his brother and pack he can make a difference. He needs to bring a witch back to help with the fight with his Dad and protect the pack. But he finds his mate -a witch Elizabeth. Who is being abused by other witches and cursed to look terrible to humans. Because they are mates -he sees only the beauty of Elizabeth -but they must battle other witches, evil Dad and themselves as they become one. Another great read in this series.
Rate 4 1/2 stars ---- The Darkest Wolf truly a fun book to read. If two people were considered complete opposites, then these two would be it. Rex hated all witches and Elizabeth hated all wolves, what a pair. The inter-action of these two as their love developed for one another was wonderful. With the next book, I know it will be about the end of the evil that has been trying to destroy the Westervelt pack, this has been anticipated since the first book, but a sadness has now developed because the series will then be over, I will miss these characters.
I am addicted to this series! Rex, the youngest Westervelt wolf sets out to bring home a witch to help save the island and prove himself to Tristain. He finds the witch right after Angel and Parker leave the restaurant (book 6). She has a curse put on her face and no one can see her true beauty except Rex. The wolf and the witch need to remove the curse before heading back to the island. They head for Fla. where her coven is and get the surprise of their lives. This book was given to me for an honest review.
This series is keeping my attention. I like the later books better than the earlier books. More was revealed in this book about Kendrick....that dude never seams to surprise me. But we also learn more about Kendricks Mate. Alot happens to the heroine in this one and the Westervelt's catch a big break....it is all set up for book number 8 the final in the series. Wow, what a story!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Rex has always thought hes not worth to be in pack...tristan always thought him as traitor...is he? So when he wants to prove himself finding a witch tristan asjs to bring..hes in dilemma...coz the witch turns out to be his mate...n she has her own coven back of her. With kendrick's wolves n witches of coven following them to kill..both Liz n Rex has to fight togethet to survive ...can they accept to be as mates?. Waiting for nxt one....! Sri.
I am getting closer and closer to the end of this series…. I haven’t broke down and cried yet but I am close. I’ve read all the stories in the series and fell in love with the Westervelt Wolves. When I finished this story, I was shocked. Rebecca Royce keeps the twists coming and I was blind to all of them. I must repeat these books in this series are not stand alone stories. So as not to be confused as to what is going on in the series start from book one and work down to this one.
