Kimberly Dana’s latest book will bring hours of reading pleasure to teen girls, especially those with a particular interest in cheerleading.

Years ago, a murder was committed in a cheerleading camp: a beautiful teenager with beautiful red flowing hair was drowned in the lake. Rumors say the killer was her best friend.

Now, ten years later, our witty protagonist Tiki Tinklemeyer is put in the same camp by her parents, who want their daughter to become more social and outgoing. But Tiki couldn’t hate the situation more. She feels awkward and out of place, to say the least. She’s not into fashion, makeup and boys, like the other girls in the camp. Worst of all, she’s never done cheerleading in her life! How could her parents have been so cruel? How will she possibly fit in? Thank God, one of her roommates, Rubi, turns out to be rather nice.

Soon, Tiki finds out about the ten-year old murder and the rumors that the dead girl’s ghost still roams the camp. Tiki can handle rumors of ghosts. After all, she’s an intelligent girl with common sense. However, things take a turn for the worse when strange events begin to take place in the camp. Is it one of the girls playing a trick on her — or is it the ghost of the murdered girl?

This was a delightful read! Dana really has a talent for getting inside the head of teen girls. The voice is young and fresh and the pace moves quickly with lots of fun, quirky dialogue. So this is a soft horror story with a humorous twist. The story was intriguing enough to keep me reading throughout, and the ending was good, promising more to come in Book Two. The only thing I found a little annoying was how the author wrote the dialogue by some of the girls in capitals. At times it was too much, and I found it distracting. Because of this detail, I’m going to give this book 4.5 instead of 5. Recommended!

Disclaimer: The fact that I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review has not affected my rating. This review expresses my honest opinion.

As a current high school student in a school where your social rank is based on how high your GPA is, apparently my view on cheerleaders is pretty messed up. In most books, cheerleaders are blonde, popular, resemble Barbie dolls, and are a geeky heroine's worst nightmare. In my world, the rank of a cheerleader could mean nothing if you can't pull off a 4.0. That being said, the view on cheerleaders in Cheerage Fearage was pretty refreshing!

Because almost all the characters in Cheerage Fearage are cheerleaders, it would be unbearable if all the characters were the stereotypical blond mean girls. Instead, the book portrays a more realistic view by providing you with different "types" of cheerleaders. It's nice to see that at least one author realizes that a cheerleader's life and personality are not what the movies portray - cheerleaders do have to work hard, and not all cheerleaders are bitches. You have Tiki, for example - she's definitely a geek (book clubs, yay!) but she works hard, tries to make some friends, cries a little, then eventually hails the "oh-so-glorious" acclaimed rank of a cheerleader, without being a complete pain.

As for the plot, there wasn't much twists, although the author was able to keep it moving, along with a couple of laughs. I loved Rubi - she's exactly the type of person that shows that a cheerleader doesn't have to "fit in". Her jargon, hair experiments, jokes... definitely entertaining and lovable! Moreover, even though I said earlier there weren't many twists, I have to admit that I did not suspect who the culprit was until at last, she was revealed. I'm also intrigued about Tiki's little bit about the undead and saving them, and who is involved. I'm assuming that paranormal elements aren't too involved, so I can't wait to see what happens!

Overall, Cheerage Fearage is just a fun and short read, with great characters and a satisfying amount of rhyming riddles and mystery. Although there was only about a chapter or two worth of talk about training, if you're a reader who also happens to be a cheerleader or fan of cheerleading, I would definitely recommend this book - it's just a bunch of fun and a short read!

Tiki Tinklemeyer is a manga loving social misfit who has been sent to cheerleading camp by her well-meaning adoptive parents in an attempt to get her to make some new friends. Unfortunately for Tiki, 10 years earlier the cheerleading captain was murdered at camp and weird things have been happening ever since. When bad things start happening to the girls in Tiki’s cabin, they originally think they are just being pranked by other girls, but then the pranks start to get creepier and scarier and Tiki starts seeing things. Is it all just a prank or is it something much more sinister happening at camp valentine?

This is a very funny book that successfully uses comedy to offset the horror that is happening. It is very rare for a book to be able to be both funny and scary at the same time but Kimberly Dana has managed very well in Cheerage Fearage. The characters are somewhat clichéd and very over the top but that is part of their appeal and what makes them so lovable. I loved Tiki – the socially awkward geek who finds herself very surprised that she is actually enjoying cheer camp and starting to make friends only to then have to deal with an apparently haunted cabin.

This book had me hooked and I didn’t put it down once until I was finished. The story starts out ok but steadily gets better and better and the ending is fantastic. This book should be read if only for the ending, the last page surprised me and absolutely blew my mind. I am looking forwards to reading more by this author and I am desperately hoping that we will hear more about Tiki and her friends.

Do you enjoy Cheerleading and all that goes with it ? Do you own all the Bring It On movies , I personally have a confession to make - "I Paula Phillips own all five of the Bring It On movies and have a thing for Cheerleading type films". The other thing I love is Horror movies and ghost stories.
Kimberly Dana's new book "Cheerage Fearage" has it all as the novel starts ten years ago when two cheerleaders went out swimming one day , over the hill and far away and the captain called them in one night and only one little blonde cheerleader came swimming back. Now on the ten year anniversary in a town named Valentine , we meet twins Toby and Tiki Tinklemeyer . They are new to the town of Valentine and Tiki finds herself enrolled in Cheer Camp. However, strange things start occuring and the cheerleaders find themselves being picked off one by one in some scary and unusual cases . Is the ghost of Lexy Mills back for some revenge , taking it out on the very cheerleaders like the ones who stole her life ? Are ghosts real and can they really hurt or is somebody at the camp trying too hard to cover up the real truth about what happened ten years ago at Camp Cheer ?
As Tiki starts to unravel the truth, will she find herself next on the Camp Cheer Killing list and instead of joining the squad in the real world be joining them in Heaven ?
Find out in Cheerage Fearage by Kimberly Dana, a fun story with a horror twist.

I received this ebook free through the ARR program. A very quick read, this book takes you to the exclusive world of cheer camp. That secret place newcomers rarely tread. The elite girls of high school's secret summer haunt. It's the age old story re-told with a twist- A camp in the woods, an unsolved murderer and a group of mean girls. What happens is predictable but the language is new. Texting lingo and uber-trendy girl communication abounds. Once the crime is solved, some extra-sensory talents and ghost chasing is implied. Is our heroine, Tiki Tinklemeyer, a new age Nancy Drew? Only future installments will tell. I look forward to seeing this story line develop and the writing talents of Kimberley Dana mature. GO KIMBERLEY! You have a new fan!

I loved this book!! Tiki Tinklemeyer just wants to fit in. She has never cheered before and for some strange reason her adoptive mom sends her to cheer camp! She meets some crazy girls and learns how to cheer with the help of her new BFF Rubi! But then strange things start happening in their cabin. Things that are unexplained and that seem to be the work of a dead cheer leader Lexi Mills!!

I liked this book right from the start! Kimberly keeps you turning the pages until you get to the end and what a surprise ending it was! I hope there is more of Tiki to follow!!

I really enjoyed this YA book. The author has written some very realistic characters, and she manages to move the story along with wit and talent. At times scary as well as laugh-out-loud funny, Cheerage Fearage will capture your attention and keep you guessing until the very end.

Tiki Tinklemeyer (love the name) is moving to a new town, and is being bustled off to cheer camp by her adoptive parents in order to meet new friends. This is bad news for Tiki, who is a be-speckled klutz who can't walk a straight line, and is more inclined to read books than spin cartwheels. And of course, the camp has a haunted past.

The premise was pretty good. The characters were well-thought, well-drawn, and pretty easy to imagine...and hear! We followed along with the mystery, trying to figure out who was behind the happenings...was it a ghost? Or human? There were no plot holes that tripped the reader.

I thought the cheerleader slang was a little over the top. I wouldn't be able to have more than a 5 minute conversation with any of the girls...except maybe Tiki. Though some of the slang was creative and quite clever, I would have preferred to have it toned down and mixed with a little normal kid-speak.

I didn't buy that Tiki, who couldn't walk a straight line on day one of camp, was one of the best tumblers by day 5. That seemed a stretch to me, unless Tiki has some kind of super power that we weren't made aware of!

The voice of the parents bothered me a bit...I believe they were meant to be portrayed as highly intelligent, but it came off sounding like two people *trying* to sound highly intelligent.

For me, the story ended abruptly with an epilogue that hinted at a supernatural angle. This is fine, except it wasn't set up properly in the story, so it seemed to come out of the blue. I literally looked at that last page and said, "What the hell was that?" The story played out as a pure mystery, except for the one or 2 hints of the supernatural; however, the supernatural story-line was never fleshed out. In fact, the epilogue seemed attached to the wrong story. It's voice was even different, as though the event that ended the story abruptly was a life-changing event for Tiki...except we never got to *see* it. The reader is left with no clue as to what happened.

I get the feeling that a lot of the unanswered questions are meant to be addressed in book 2, but I would prefer to have a story stand on its own merit, and not rely on sequels to finish it.

It would have been a good ghost story if not for the insane amount of text language. APF= Abandoned possibly forever. Managed to get through it however.
