In the fourth and final installment, everything is on the line. Merrick's life is in the balance and Lily is their only hope. Ellie and her new powers are miraculous, but also problematic; if she's with the bunker family, they won't be able to sense when the Lighters are there. There are many new members to the bunker and sparks will fly, and with the food shortage, they will all have plenty to deal with. Miguel is intrigued with Rylee, her past and her spunk. Ryan and Elli are barely scratching the surface of their relationship. Cain and Lillian will have to deal with Daniel, who has no qualms about showing his true feelings for her. And Sherry and Merrick…what will happen to this happenstance family who have worked so hard to come together? Can they all survive? Can they all withstand the new enemy that is right outside their door? Can they beat the Lighters, once and for all…
Shelly is a NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author from a small town and loves everything about the south. She hoards paperbacks, devours sweet tea, searches year-round for candy corn, loves to site-see in the new areas they travel to with her husband's job, and adores reading but doesn’t have much time to these days with all the characters filling her head begging to come out.
Her own books happen by accident and she revels in the writing and imagination process. She doesn't go anywhere without her notepad for fear of an idea creeping up and not being able to write it down immediately, even in the middle of the night, where her best ideas are born.
I'm so sad this series is coming to an end... This was my first series and it will be hard to type 'The End' on Sherry, Merrick, Danny, Celeste, Lily, Cain and Lillian. But, I'm glad to know how it all ends and what happens.
I usually like to add a little summary of the book in my own words when I write my reviews. It's just how I roll. But I really don't want to do that on this review cause it would kinda give too much away. Trust me, you will want to read this book to get closure for the series. But one thing is for sure...these guys cannot catch a flippin break!
What can I say about this book...this series? Collide is what started my fascination with Mrs. Crane. I knew when I read it I would love everything she wrote…and so far I have. In fact each book, in each of her series, is different and better than the last. #TRUTH Please keep in mind when you read Revolution you must prepare yourself. Break out the tissues, cue the sappy sad songs, and get ready for one heck of a story. And if you don't shed a tear or two at the beginning you are apparently not human or have no soul. Just sayin!
I probably have mentioned this before but I absolutely loved when more POV's were introduced into the series. Cause really it is not just Sherry and Merrick's story anymore. Throughout the series there are more characters introduced that we have come to love and adore. All the characters really have become like a second family, to me at least, and it's heartbreaking to see this series end.
But guys...so much happens in this book! There are ambushes, deaths, love, and weddings. Oh did I just say that? Hmm maybe there was...maybe there wasn't. Guess you will have to read to see. And that ending!! Whoa! Absolutely loved it! It was something I was hoping for from the moment I fell in love with Merrick and Sherry at the very beginning of the series.
Fav Quotes… Merrick: He leaned down to me, nose to nose, and let his fingers run a path across my cheek. “No matter what happens, baby, I love you more than I ever though was humanly possible. Sometimes, my heart hurts from being too full. Know that. If nothing else comes of this day, know that I loved you so much that I could never be sad again, wherever I am.” Yeah I know right? Freakin love that man!
Lillian & Cain: “Make me forget that the world’s ending, Cain.” My heart ached a bit at that, but I complied with a willing mind and body and even grinned as I said, “Anything you want, L.” Yep, Cain is hot!
If you love books that are packed full of romance then this series is just for. Yes, my dear Shelly can write a romance like no one’s business. So I bid farewell to this series but welcome her new books with open arms.
Whoa! What a trip! I can’t believe this out-of-this-world series has come to an end. I have really grown attached to the Keepers! This was a pretty stressful book, too. The enemy keeps getting stronger and you just know something big is going to happen at any moment! This poor little family of rebels has already been through so much, it’s amazing that they have stayed so strong. Every time one of them walked out the door I was worried that they would not return. Sherry & Merrick are so amazing, they helped the group learn to love and survive no matter who or what was against them. This book really gave me a great appreciation for all the things I might take for granted, too – like beds, doors, food, and family. (Of course, it also made me start checking for the moon every night to make sure it’s up there like it’s supposed to be!) This will always be one of my favorite series!
OH. MY. GOSH. Already suffering from withdrawals. I wish I could have savored this book, but I flew through it to see what happens! It's insanely good. Well done Shelly, I was in tears at the end. Love, love, loved it. I snagged an ARC for the book tour, and I felt compelled to leave a teaser on GR that everyone needs to buy this book if you have/are reading the Collide series. Seriously. Go do it. It's so worth it!!
I am so sad to have this series end. But since it does have to come to an end, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Revolution wraps up the Collide series absolutely perfectly. We get to see how all of our favorite couples end up and there are lots and lots of surprises. Shelly has done it again. I swear everything that woman writes is gold!!
I'm hoping that Shelly will do some novellas in the future about some of the couples. I just can't get enough!!!
Revolution is a great end to a great series. When the book opened up with a lyric from one of my favorite bands, The Cab, I knew I was in for a great read and I was not wrong. Can you say one sitting book? Cause that is what this is, but I really shouldn't be surprised. It is near impossible to put down any of Shelly's books and this one was no exception.
Revolution starts off in the middle of action and that action does not let up throughout the course of the book. The poor bunker family never seems to get a break. Whenever things begin to look up something else always seems to go wrong. However they never give up hope and that is one of my favorite parts about this story. No matter how bad things get, this family always manages to keep their heads high and looking toward a brighter future.
Along with all the action comes a lot of sweet romance. Shelly is the Queen of Sweet Romances. Her couples are always adorable and strong without all the angst and drama you get with most couples. It amazes me how she balances action and world ending circumstances with a simple and sweet love story.
Revolution brings back all of the characters we have come to love over the course of the series and there really are a lot of them to love. They are all very different but all mesh together perfectly at the same time. Since there are so many of them I am only going to focus on my favorites. Obviously we have Merrick, and if you follow Shelly's blog you know that he is the voice for the first chapter, but is that the first or last time we see him? Well I'm not telling, read and find out for yourself. Next we have Sherry who has really grown over the four books. She is so strong, but in her own way. She is fierce and determined and always wants to do what is right. Then we have Cain who is my absolute favorite. I simply love his wit and sarcasm and oh yeah the lip ring, can't forget about that. Last but not least I have to mention the ever adorable Lily. It becomes very clear that this little girl is a very important piece of the Lighter-Keeper puzzle.
Like the last couple of books, Revolution switches perspectives throughout the course of the novel. I love getting inside so many different characters heads. We even get inside Lily's head at one point which was kind of fun. I just love the depth the novel gets by switching perspectives and the dynamic it creates.
All in all, Revolution is yet another great book from Shelly Crane. I have yet to dislike one of her books, actually I kind of love them all. So those of you who have been waiting for this book, well then your wait will be rewarded and those of you who have not started this series yet should get on that.
*I received a copy of this book as a part of the blog tour in exchange for a fair and honest review
Shelly Crane, what can I say that would truly capture the way I feel about Revolution? I haven’t reviewed the rest of the Collide Series and I’m thinking I may have to remedy that because; this series is seriously one of the best series that shows the struggle of life and love.
First and foremost, for those of you have already read the Collide series up until this point, take a major deep breath and know Merrick is very much still with us! I was so worried but knew Shelly wouldn’t do that to us, I mean she is a HEA girl! I’ve read all her other books and I’ve never been disappointed! So a lot happens in this book, I mean it has to right since it’s the end. Is it going to be the end of human life as we know it, or is the Lighters reign finally over?
LOVE! OMG all the love that is instilled in this book is so breathtaking that I’m actually jealous of the relationships these characters have. A band of people who knew absolutely nothing about each other when everything got started formed an incredible family that some don’t see in the actually relatives they have. That in its own is truly inspirational and just shows you that family is who make it. Merrick and Shelley, their love is so awe worthy that whenever I’m reading about them I have this ridiculously huge grin on my face, totally and completely love them! Then there is Cain. Fell in love with Cain and was so happy when he got Lillian. Their love is amazing too, as is Danny and Celeste’s love. I’m telling you so much love, oh and Jeff and Marissa can’t forget them! Then there is the lovely Lily; the sweet, innocent, beautiful girl who is so important on so many levels and helps in more ways than one. Sigh…then there is Daniel, the Lighter who turned sides…I can’t really talk about Daniel without giving away what happens, I happened to fall in love with him too and I believe my tears started around him. The most important thing to know about Daniel is he helps save the world from his fellow kinsmen. Calvin comes into play into this book as well and he is a damn good special!
I love alternating POV, to me it makes each character more real by providing depth that we don’t see from single POVs. Shelly totally uses this in this book and it’s amazing, we even get a POV from Lily at the end. Love that little girl, I can hear her giggle in my mind know. This was an amazing ending to an amazing series, and though I’m sad to see the end is here, I could not be happier or more thrilled at how it ended. Love Love Love Shelly Crane!
OK, this review is going to be a little lackluster, as all my reviews seem to be when I go on a vacation in the middle of a book. I really have to stop doing that, b/c I just end up forgetting what I was feeling for the beginning of the book. And the middle. :) My husband suggested I just reread it, but I'm not that ambitious.
OK, enough talk. So all in all I thought this was a pretty solid conclusion to the series. It maintained the feel of all the rest of the books having a bunch of mini climaxes instead of one big one. I think that was one part that kind of disappointed me in the end...for some reason I was still expecting some big battle at the end, and so it was kind of anti-climactic for me. I mean, I knew they kept saying Lily was the key, but it just felt like a bit of a cop out easy ending. Not enough strife or something. Maybe it's because there's little strife all along. So yeah, I enjoyed the series as a whole, but I'm not sure the format is necessarily my favourite. Apparently I just can't get past the normal flow of stories.
Now with that being said, I did thoroughly enjoy the earlier mini climaxes. Holy crap, the needs warehouse section was crazy!! That seriously had me on pins and needles, and I loved the little developments there.
I also loved getting into Ryan's head in this book! I've always had a bit of a soft spot for him, so that was pretty sweet...and it added a little something different to the Keeper storyline... (course now that I'm thinking about it, I can't remember if that was new to this book, or if we got into his head in book 3...it's hard to keep it straight when you read them all in a row like this)
And I really enjoyed the introduction of Chesser as a character. I thought that little bit of plot was really intriguing.
So there was lots of goodness, I was just a bit let down with the way the big fight played out. I did really appreciate that we got some bits of epilogue, b/c I was going to have a ton of questions otherwise and would have felt unfulfilled. Course then it made my brain start going with questions of what this all looked like in the rest of the world, but I decided that suspension of disbelief was the way to go. Initially I remember this being my favourite series of Ms. Crane's, but I think Significance has it beat now that I've reread and finally finished it.
I have wanted to read Ms. Crane’s books for a while now; I would see reviews and comments regarding how incredible her books; in fact my own daughter for her 14th birthday in June received a Kindle, and what did she want?(This was after previously reading one of Ms. Crane’s other novels…) Yes, you guessed it, she wanted all of Ms Cranes novels! So she did receive them and loved them! I would see her staying up late(it was Summer); wrapped around her Kindle reading; so yes, I was looking forward to the adventure myself.
Revolution is a great ending to an edge of the seat ride with the Collide series! Now, a reader can pick up Revolution and receive a recap briefly of the events that led to Sherry and Merrick’s current predicament, but I fully suggest going back and reading all of them!
Revolution(without giving away too many spoiler deets.) chronicles the events of Sherry, Merrick,Lilly; those who make up the “army of resistance” as Sherry, the main character, refers to her group; They are fighting against the Lighters, beings from another dimension who have the ability to basically “hijack” the body of a human who had recently died; The Taker is a leader; an almost unstoppable being, whose plan was to take over Earth.
Keepers are those sent to protect “Specials” Humans with powers great destinies; they are a threat to Lighters. Keepers and humans not affected “marked” by Lighters are fighting to stop the Dark Ones.
In Revolution, the stakes are raised as the rebels come against an even more formidable enemy, a Graphter; this is a being who has the Taker’s power, human intelligence and Lighter abilities. The rebels also have new weapons for their enemies,;they now allow the “Specials” to fulfill their destinies and so the war commences. Interwoven in the adventure, Ms. Crane builds a world that chronicles the lives of these characters, that even in the mix of despair, they experience, love, passion and yes, there is loss and heartache; but through it all the group has a sense of family; it was this storytelling that adds a in-depth dimension to Revolution, that has this book standing out from others. It’s not just about the fighting, and the blowing up of things; but about the people, who against the odds stay intact and together.
I do not wish to spoil the ending, but it was fantastic how Ms. Crane brought the Collide series to an end;
I will just say great and surprising things come in small packages:)
It is so sad to see this series come to an end. We've all been through thick and thin with Sherry, Merrick, and the rest of the gang. In Revolution, the battle is coming to a crescendo. Not only are they threatened by the Lighters, the Markers, and the Enforcers, now they have Graphters to worry about. After their location is compromised, they have to leave suddenly, leaving everything they have built behind, things, memories, and lost loved ones. Food is scarce and so is privacy, but nevertheless they press on. There are turns in relationships and choices are made, which will affect each of their futures.
We are introduced to a some new characters in this book, one being Chesser, who is an Enforcer that is secretly helping the rebels. I really liked him. Lily is said to hold the key to ending the war, and she does. This beautiful little girl is just precious. All the Keepers are their usual hot selves, and even Daniel the Lighter who turned over a new leaf, ends up being a hero. Cain is still his sexy, funny self, and you can't help but love him and Lillian. Miguel and Rylee are pretty hilarious also.
Shelly has done an excellent job in bringing the series to a close in Revolution, which is exciting, fast-paced, and entertaining. There is still a ton of romance, which Shelly writes so well, and there is also a whole lot of action, danger, and edge of your seat situations that keep you turning the pages. Although I hate to see the series end, it really ends so well, and I think you will truly be pleased. Shelly even writes an epilogue, which is so awesome, and we get to find out about some new "little surprises" in it. This is a great end to an awesome series and I highly recommend it.
How is it possible to love a series of books when you know you are reading the last book? Well, Shelly Crane is the master of it! I was shocked and very surprised when I received this ARC from Shelly. I want to thank Shelly Crane VERY MUCH!!
Best part: I thought long and hard about this because it was just so tough to pick my favorite part. So, the best part of this book is the characters, ALL OF THEM! Each is unique to the story, each has a special place in the series and you will never forget any of them nor their journeys through the series. Could I pick a favorite and say they were the only one to make the story? I could not because with one there would not be the others. Something that I do love in this series is Lily. That little girl is so sweet! Another is, Sherry and Merrick. They are truly a perfect couple and I love their interactions. Along with that, I have a soft place for those who protect their families. I could go on and on about each one of the characters but what fun would that be when you read the series.
Not so great: The truly worst part of this book is ............ IT'S THE LAST BOOK! How am I going to be able to survive?!?!?!?!?! It is okay though, Shelly Crane has more books coming out soon!! On top of that, now that I have all the books I can reread the whole series whenever I want!
This series is an amazing roller coaster of emotions and worth every word of the page!
How to possibly write a review of a capstone book without giving too much away....this my challenge with this AMAZING novel by Shelly Crane.
From the very beginning, Shelly reels you in. With the oh so tense cliffhanger at the end of CATALYST (book 3), there was no doubt that REVOLUTION was going to have to start with a bang. As Shelly has done throughout the series, the development of the relationships between her characters is wonderful. I literally was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire novel.
The beauty of the love between Merrick and Sherry just blows me away. It's seriously the relationship that I think we all secretly want. (Obviously in not "end of the world" circumstances). I loved that additional POV's were added (without giving any details as to give anything away...)
And - diehard COLLIDE series fans....you are going to LOVE the ending...it's what we were ALL waiting for. ;-)
So - what else do I say....an AMAZING 5 stars for Shelly Crane. I don't know how she's going to beat this one!! But I will be around, anxiously waiting to see her do it!!
This book was PURE perfection! I had a hard time finishing it ONLY because it was the end to the series and I didn't want to say goodbye. I've grown so attached to all the characters that it felt wrong to just rush through this book without dragging it out and savoring it for as long as as I could.
Shelly, you amazing person, you! Just when I think your books can't get any better (I mean how can you get more than the 5 star rating I gave your last book?) you blow me away again! You touched every emotion and brought to life a world that I never could have imagined. Every thought, every sight, every emotion, every smell, every touch...everything was as if I was there exeriencing everything right along with every character. I went through many tissues, some of the struggles just seemed so unfair! And beans?? I don't know how those poor people survived! I would have committed murder for a piece of chocolate!
Everything was perfect! I had only ONE complaint, which I'm sure others AND Shelly can figure out with Caine and Daniel being alone at the station and the outcome there. Other than that? Completely satisfied with everything! Can't wait to see what's next. :)
This final installment in the Collide Series is bitter sweet. I've been anxious to find out what Merrick's fate would be but not so ready for the series to end. Shelly in her genius way gives us our most wanted answers in the first two chapters. There are so many things I loved about Revolution. One of my favorite parts is Lily playing dolls with Calvin. Her reference to Joy doll being "Piper, psycho Barbie" and telling the boy doll to "take that you sissy" made me laugh out loud. I LOVED the developing love story between Ryan and Ellie. I can't get them out of my head. It was too funny when Miguel walks in on Sherry and Merrick getting frisky. Miguel is still one of my fave characters and he finally gets a little love in this book which is another part (in the club) that just cracked me up. I also love the new character Chesser. There's so much action in this book as well as sweet and saucy moments. Shelly does not disappoint in giving each of the main characters an ending that will keep me happily ever after. Thanks to Shelly for making my heart swell with happiness for Merrick and Sherry.
I was thrilled to death to receive an ARC of "Revolution" by the talented Shelly Crane. I have read every one of her books and she is awesome. This is the last book in The Collide Series which made this book be bitter sweet for me. I have come to know and love the characters so well that I never wanted it to end. I have paperback copies of all of her books and will definitely be getting this one! This book was action packed and emotional for me. I envy the love of Sherry and Merrick. Merrick is definitely my keeper. The trials they go through in this book are just as dynamic as the very first in the series. There are so many great characters in this book that I will dearly miss. If you like drama then Shelly knows drama and she also knows love. She has another winner! I look forward to a new series.
This bunker family can't seem to catch a break. It's always something. Just when things start to look grim, they find hope that things will be better.
There are a few new unexpected allies that prove to be very useful. Cain and Daniel manage a somewhat truce. And Lily is VERY instrumental in this finale. ;) Even though times seem bleak, there is good news sprinkled throughout this story.
You learn more about love and family in this book more than the others. This group of people have stuck together and fought for their survival. Not once have they acted like crazy people. (Well, not all of them.) They have won their battles by standing together.
All in all this is a great love story. Yes, there is a sci-fi feel, but the focus is on this group of people and their love for each other.
Revolution is offically my favorite in this series!!! I love this entire series and the only thing I see wrong with Revolution is that its over :( I loved how Shelly added so many different POVs in this book. Ryan was my favorite. He was so cute and naive. I wish Cain was in it a little more, he is too funny and witty. I adored all the romance and how all their family/friendships have developed into so much more throughout the series. I have to say I was kind of excited that the fight scenes were pretty minimal and the focus was more on the characters and there relationships. I personally think Shelly should continue this series with Migel, Ryan, Frank, Calvin, Lilly etc... Ohh there are so many possibilites- just a thought ;)
The battle is coming and it’s a fight for the survival of all life on Earth. Sherry, Merrick and the gang are all putting everything on the line to face the threat of the Lighters, the Markers and the new Graphters. Will they be able to find the key to defeat the ultimate invasion force or will all be lost.
This is the last in the Collide series by Shelly Crane and I’m sad to see all these great characters move on. Once again, Shelly Crane has created a wonderful story that heaves you right into the action and keeps you immersed till the end. This is a truly original story that took my breath away and made my heart ache then she threw in lots of nail biting action and thrilling twists to engulf the rest of my emotions. Thank you for a fantastic ride!
Loved it!!! Great ending to a great series! I fell in love with these characters and their seemingly endless struggles. But Shelly did such a great job pulling it all together, tying up loose ends, mixing the bitter with the sweet, but ultimately leaving you hopeful and refreshed in the end. And can I say how happy chapter 3 made me! It set the stage for the rest of the book for me, and didn't disappoint. Sherry and Merrick were wonderful as always, as were all my other favorites. I love how the characters became each other's family. I'm sad the series is over, but loved every moment of it. Thank you Shelly Crane!
So sad to see this series come to an end but I'm sure Shelly has something just as brilliant as this series up her sleave.
If you haven't read any of these books or any other books by Shelly you are definitely missing out on an extremely talented author I really rec commend any of her books.
So do yourself a favour and read this book and all her others and I guarantee you will not be disappointed :-)
To Shelly I would like to congratulate you on an awesome finish to an awesome series. You deserve all the success you get and I am so happy to have stumbled on to your books
Awesome ending to an awesome series! I was so sad to see it go but I'm glad it had a happy ending. And for the record Piper is evil an should have been lighter! Well she pretty much was at the end until she got called back, I'm assuming that she didn't get to go to her 'after' in the end. Or at least I didn't think she should. I'm really glad that Sherry and Merrick got there big surprise at the end, it was greatness. Thank you Mrs. Crane for all of these wonderful stories and keep 'em coming!!!!!
I cant believe I'm gonna say this, but I wasn't ready for this series to end. The characters were in a good place, development wise, and I felt like the end was too rushed.
I didn't like the repeated HEA's at the end of the book. It felt unnecessary. I wanted to know more about the other people but understand that it had to end at some time.
I guess I'm just sad that what I wanted to know about I didn't find out about, and now never will.
Oh-well. Good series that I would recommend as a guilty pleasure read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Time to turn on the SHOUTY capitals, and say --- FIVE AMAZING STARS!!
What a conclusion to this series. From the first words I didn't want to put it down. All the characters made appearances, and even a few new ones were introduced. I felt like everything was tied up, and no loose ends, which is always an important factor for me when reading the last book of a series. Thank you Shelly Crane for another superb read!
What a great ending to a great series! I laughed, I cried, and I was anxious! I was stalling to finish this book because I just didn't want it to end. There were soooo many amazing characters in this series and you were able to see their POVs at all the right times throughout this series. I will miss Sherry, Merrick, and good ole "Cainy Boy"! Mrs. Crane as usual... Delivers!!! Thank you for the amazing "very end" of this series!
Revolution is the conclusion for the collide series. Shelly Crane has made me care significantly for all the couples and characters that are a part of the rebel community in the world she has so carefully created. This final book ties all of the stories together and ends with a peak into the future. I loved it I don't want to writed too much as to spoil this wonderful finally would be a shame. This series is definitely on of my all-time favorites and will be on the keeper shelf.
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Totally worth the wait. Cried at the end like a total tool. Couldn't care less about it. Thank you Mrs. Crane for what you've done with our favorite characters. Awesome work. You're writing and editing are getting better with every book. Thank you for an amazing series from beginning to end. K-
What have you done to me Shelly?? I was literally a sobbing mess at the end of this. That little surprise ;) toward the end was totally unexpected but had me giggling and crying at the same time! I'm so sad all of their stories are over but I loved the way it ended even though I wasn't ready to let them all go.
I loved this book! I'm sad the series is now finished but i did like how it finished. I love all the characters and at a certain part of the book (won't say when cuz of spoilers) i wanted to cry, and near the end i got all emotional as well. Loved this book, i'm so glad i decided to read this series :)
The only negative thing about this book is that it was the final book in the collide series!!!! I LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! This entire series was AMAZING as is everything Shelly writes. I wish there was more!!! I don't think I could ever get sick of this story. Though Shelly gave it a FANTASTIC ending I'm greedy and wished the story didn't have to end!!!
As sad as I am that this was the last book in the series...I am soooo unbelievably happy at the way it ended! The epilogue was perfect!!!! I am going to miss all of these characters very, very much! Bravo Shelly Crane...and thank you so much for this wonderful series!!!
