A Great Paranormal Love Story

Another audiobook down in my quest to clear my Audible shelf! 'Kade's Dark Embrace' had been sitting there for a long time and honestly, I didn't expect much. Every once in awhile, a book surprises me and this was one of those books.

I found myself enjoying this book far more than I ever expected. In fact, I'll probably continue the series at some point in the not so distant future. I got completely sucked into this paranormal romance!

I love strong, yet vulnerable, heroines, and Sydney was the perfect fit. As a detective, she's no stranger to dark, grisly crimes. She's tough and fiercely independent.

When Sydney is paired with Kade, a detective from the paranormal law enforcement department, she is reluctant to share her latest case. There is definitely heat between her and the beautiful vampire. However, Sydney is determined not to let her attraction interfere with her job.

Young women's bodies are turning up with increasing frequency. It is clear that they've been tortured. There is no doubt that the murders will not stop until Sydney and Kade track down the murderer. When Kade informs Sydney that the murders appear to be ritualistic, a whole new light is cast on the crimes.

While listening to this audiobook, I found myself captivated by the world that Ms. Grosso crafted. The human and supernatural worlds blended perfectly. It was quite different from other paranormal romances that I've read, mainly because the humans were fully aware of their supernatural counterparts.

In the beginning, I didn't think that this book was going to be a "win" for me. There was some awkwardness in the beginning as I tried to figure out this new world and how I felt about it. However, it didn't take long for this story to grab my attention.

As far as audiobooks go, this was a relatively quick one. The narration was well done and I didn't have any issues with it. It is a good choice for an audiobook if you're looking to pass a little time.

Overall, I found this to be a great paranormal love story. There was plenty of suspense and danger to keep me intrigued, while also providing the requisite romance to hold my interest. I didn't expect much, but I was in for a pleasant surprise!

DNF #sorrynotsorry

description

I got one chapter in and basically said f$@k this. I couldn't stand the writing:

"As she stretched her toned arms up over her head, he admired her firm, pert breasts straining against her tight, white t-shirt. Her black spandex miniskirt accentuated her lithe, tanned legs."

Holy eye roll.

In the first 5 chapters, the only ones I could care to read, there were so many "wrong" things that I'm somewhat surprised at the ratings I see here. (Well, not really.)
I understand we all love different things and I believe it's great. Still, bad writing is still bad writing. Anyway, let's start the dance...

The cover and the title probably already told you this is self-pubb. Sometimes it's not really a problem, self-pubb or indie may have strong flaws, but still be ok or good. Most of the times the flaws are big enough that you really appreciate publishers..

Kade's Dark Embrace had a blurb that made it sound interesting. Cover and title said PNR, plot UF. Interesting enough and free, so why not.

The why not is easily explained.

-Characterization. Heroine is a detective. She is so much a detective that she can't keep her dick (sorry, vagina) into her pants. Not even a disfigured and ritualistic murder can prevent her from heavily panting after guys. She's so professional that, after being called to a heinous murder scene, she says, well it's my night off. I'll go shag the werewolf fuck buddy I have. Oh, by the way, a couple of pages before, we were told she's not so keen on preternatural beings as she almost died in an attack.

-Mary-Sueish wet dreaming. All of the guys we are introduced to (Tony the partner, Kane the mysterious vamp, the fuck buddy werewolf) want her. She's beautiful, strong, intelligent. Sure, does she lays gold too?

-Writing. Where do I start? From the didactic lessons during dialogue (so you can learn all you can read in a free buffet)? The jumps in scenes (so one moment the characters are inside, the next the are in the car)?

-Lack of research. If you want to write about aliens, you are absolutely free to invent their home-world. At the same time, physics can't be invented, so you still need to know your science. Fantasy isn't different, you might invent an entire new world for your vamps and were, but if you plan to put them in a detective story, then you have to research police procedures and, yes, science. Watching TV doesn't count.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when we are told she almost died during an attack (she was banged on the head and onto a wall) but she refuses to go to the hospital and go shag her fuck buddy instead. Then she go on dancing with the vamp who ten phrases above thought he's not going to share X info with her. But while dancing he does....

I can't even.

It has been quite sometime since I cracked open a paranormal romance. Since Halloween is getting close, I decided to get in the mood!! I have been wanting to check out this series by Kym Grosso for some time, as one of my buddy's had really enjoyed it! I am glad I gave "Kade's Dark Embrace" a chance. It has everything a great paranormal romance needs, this includes a hot alpha male who is a vampire...and of course, he likes to bite! (Rawr!!), there is also some awesome fight scenes towards the end; and best of all...a kickass, likeable heroine! (these seem to be not very easy to find!!)This read has some very entertaining secondary characters as well; which include Tristan, the studly wolf! (I definitely look forward to his book!)

I don't want to get into to much of the details of the book as there is an aspect of mystery to the story, and I am always careful not to give anything away. I will however mention that we have Sydney who is a cop in Philadelphia, and she has come across a case with a dead body that has caught the interest of a vampire from New Orleans. Kade feels an instant connection to Sydney, and he decides right away that he needs to be on the murder case with her. There is a huge indication that the killings have "supernatural" written all over it. The killer who is on the loose is someone that is most likely not human. There is also some hints that say that whomever is doing the killings, is also practicing voodoo.

Kade's attraction to Sydney is not one sided, she feels some heavy duty attraction towards him as well..and believe me; her thoughts are NOT pure!!! When these two finally do give in to their urges...they burn up the sheets pretty darn good...believe me! Oh wait a sec?? I don't think there are too many beds involved! LOL

The story is done in dual POV; which I really enjoy, and it also introduces us to a whole set of characters that are likeable and intriguing. Kym Grosso sets up the series very well for future books. In fact, I believe there are five or six books already published, so it is nice to know that I can dive in anytime I want!

I recommend this read to paranormal lovers, especially if you love a good murder mystery thrown into the mix. It has a great balance of romance, sex, mystery, action, and some great humor. Some of the one liners that come out of Sydney's mouth are priceless..and I do love a read that can make me smile or laugh out loud while I am reading it.

A great addition to my library, and I can't wait to find out what's next for these sexy supernatural characters!!

This book is currently free on Amazon...and I would have gladly paid money for it!!

Apologies to my friends who loved this, but I could not agree.

The heroine was abrasive and annoying, and the heroes seemed flat.

Sydney's endless protests of indignation that Kade and Tristan would think she needed protection (when in fact she DID need protection) were like the whine of a mosquito. I get that the author was writing her as a strong heroine, but her blindness to the mismatch between herself (a mortal human female) versus Simone (an immortal, black-magic-wielding, serial killing, vampire intent on destroying Sydney) put her in the category of too stupid to live, in my opinion.

I also think the author's intent was that Sydney refused to live by the current sexual double standard because she is so strong; instead, Sydney's casual attitude about random, no-strings sex makes her the equivalent of a people-using man-whore. Sydney's character came across as abrasive and myopic. She DID have the noble desire to protect others, but it was in the context of her unrealistic expectation that she could combat immortals without any assistance.

It was a struggle to get through the story because I disliked the heroine so much... Not recommending.

FIVE SENSUAL STARS*****

I picked up this freebie on Amazon Friday, and what a great surprise; because I LOVED IT!!!!! Exuberant sensuality, intense plot and excellent writing style, everything you could possibly want from a paranormal read.

This story has a ton of mystery and action which only added to the sexiness of the plot. There's just something about a vampire lover that gets me every single time. Makes me wonder why I don't read this type of books more often? Well, thanks to Kym Grosso I will now be basking in the passion and excitement of her books, because in planning to read them all.

Kade is the Vampire leader, Sydney is a badass detective and together they will work hard and unite human and vampire forces to find out who is responsible for the heinous crimes happening around Philadelphia.

They will work together and fight an explosive sexual attraction that burns very deep within them. Can a Vampire and a human mate? Or will these two simply enjoy a passionate night together and move on?

Read this amazing first novel or a series that promises to be one of the best paranormal books you will ever read.

2 Stars on my reread of May 2023
My reread did not work out well. I finally dnf'ed at chapter 11. I couldn't take it anymore.
The writing is amateurish. The dialogue, both spoken and thought is repetitive.
I'm changing my rating. This book is in desperate need of a 'Blue Pencil'.
It could have been Great. But ended up 'Grating'.
It just lost 2 Stars.

PNR Erotica?
3.75 stars For Now.
I put this on my Read 2022 shelf. Even though I have already read it, I just realized I have a ton of this series I HAVEN'T read!

I remember enjoying this and the mc's names. I know there were some steamy hot sexy times.
But I don't remember enough to go into the next book in the series.
I love PNR and add to that 'Detective/Mystery'! Yep. I will be rereading this in September. Then I can read more of the series.

I went on to Amazon the other day to buy this book and was happy to see that it was free, so I grabbed it while I could.
It would have been so worth the money!

I was glad that this was a short book (roughly 250 pages) because my reading habbit is as ever out of control and my to-read list keeps growing longer and longer everyday. Now a shorter ebook like this I could easily squeeze into my schedule LOL. I wasn't dissapointed.

Sydney/Syd was a wonderful heroine, she is a detective in Philly. She has worked really hard to be successful and has done a pretty damn good job. She knows how to look after herself and doesn't take any s**t, from anyone. (I loved that Kade and Syd didn't have a typical meet-cute, it made a nice change.) So when Kade shows up at 'her' crime scene and tries to take over... well let's just say that it doesn't go down well. It get's even worse when Syd goes from being totally kick-ass in her job to feeling a bit helpless and out of control in this new supernatural situation.

Kade
I will try to say something more than...'Oh my god I love him.' LOL. Kade was impressive. He knows how to take cotrol of a situation without being an asshole. He always thinks about Syd's feelings and tries his best to help her without stepping on her toes. It was so refreshing compared to the alpha-males I have been reading about lately.
I loved that he was always so calm and controlled. Then when in private (and a few other less private times) with Syd, he had the dirtiest mouth and mind, it was amazing how he could just turn it on whenever he wanted. He was a great hero.

Luca
Luca is Kade's second, and best fiend. He tends to have a stick up his ass and always seems to be so serious. We did get to see a tiny flash of his wild side, so I can't wait to read his book next.

Tristan
'Mmmmm Tristan' LOL.
Well, where to start. Tristan is the Alpha werewolf of his pack. He has been sleeping with Sydney for a few months and is one of her best friends. He would like nothing more than for Syd to realise that she desperately wants to be with him, and he would be more than happy to oblige. But he appreciates her decision to remain friends and he is glad to help her out (wink wink) whenever she wants.
Of course he is annoyed when his friend Kade comes along and sweeps her off her feet, but he is also happy for them. He's an amazing guy and I really hope he get's his own book and a HEA.
"You really don't get how a little wolf lovin' could get me killed, do you mon chaton?"
I loved how he always called Syd 'my kitten' and she calls him (mon loup) 'my wolf'.

Tony
He is Sydney's work partner who has serious potential to be a hero. Six foot three, italian and smokin' hot. He also has a wicked sense of humour.

I will finally finish this review leaving you with a few little snippets from my favourite scene... dancing in the S&M club...

'Just as she was beginning to relax, Luca spun her around into Kade's arms. But instead of moving away, Luca rubbed against Sydney's ass reaching his hands around her waist. His hands slowly inched up under Sydneys breasts as Kade kissed her passionately...'
'Kade grasped the back of her neck and leaned in to speak sensually in her ear... "You seem to like playing with two men. Enjoying our dance with Luca aren't you, love? But remember this Sydney, I don't share, and at the end of tonight, you will be mine."'
Holy crap. Just writing it out on here is making me shiver again.
It was an incredible scene.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a terrific storyline, supernaturally hot guys, and a fantastic romance to boot.
Amazing!

I suppose it isn't fair to rate a book I couldn't finish...but then again, the reason I couldn't finish it is because clearly I didn't like it. I know allot of people love this book, so as always it comes down to personal taste.

I read the first chapter and found it to be painfully boring and something about the writing style just did not sit right with me. I love a tough heroine, and I have no problem with kinky sex and foul language...but in the first chapter I thought the heroine was simply a cliché of everything I dislike in testosterone overdosed male characters. First chapter, crime scene and our heroine Sydney is checking out Kade's "supernatural assets" and then her partner notices her checking out Kade's "assets" and comments on it and I thought for a moment I'd stumbled onto the set of "Animal House".

But allot of people REALLY like this book, and by all accounts so should I: vampires, voodoo and the sultry backdrop of New Orleans - definitely a few of my favorite things! So I dove into chapter 2, found it painfully boring and decided that skimming was a reasonable option. So I skimmed the rest of the book, HEA in case anyone cares.

I never cared for any of the characters, they all seemed fairly one dimensional, like cardboard cutouts. I never warmed up to Sydney. Kade was "blah" despite his "assets". The story while for all intents and purposes really should have been interesting was...meh. (Sort of reminded me just a little bit of the Angelique storyline from Dark Shadows). Anyway, not for me. But it was free so no harm, no foul.

The book was kind of slow for me at first. Someone suggested the book to me, by someone who said the main character reminds them of me. ( okay I have black hair, did work in the PD.. But not a cop). Don't get the connection but I do love Vampires. I don't like to "spoil" or review novels like the norm. I like to say this is how it made me feel. Read the description for crying out loud. I liked it, 4.5 stars really. If you're in the mood for a hot romance with a little naughty that's not way out there, here you go.Also it's a must love Vampires. Yup, that sums it up for me. If you love Adrian, Ward, or Kenyon you'll love Grosso.

OMG so freaking good!

Okay, most people will know by now that I love me some smut. Good smut, bad smut, weird smut - smut = smut guys. Now I'm also not going to lie about this book, it took me forever to finish. I did listen to the audio at work.. but it's like everyone and their mother needed to talk to me or get all up in my grill. I think it took me two days, maybe three, to finish this audio! Trust me, that's a long ass time.

In this book, you will meet Sydney. She's a detective in a world where supernaturals and humans coexist. Everyone knows everyone's business. Even if there's a murder or two involved. Which is where our girl steps in, because there's a string of mysterious murders happening in her city.

While on the job, she meets Kade. There's an obvious attraction and a smidge of sexual tension going on between these two. However, he's a vampire and she's a human - it doesn't stop them from getting together though. Which I'm so freaking happy that it didn't because I loved their relationship. The chemistry and the smut were AHMAZING. I would totally dive into the second book if I didn't have so many other books lined up right now. Maybe next month.

Overall, I loved this book and I wouldn't mind diving into more of this series. Especially if the smut keeps getting better.

Detective Sydney Willows is as stubborn as stubborn gets. Working a case is one thing, working a case with a vampire, a very sexy vampire might I add, is another thing all together. Kade Issacson is a big, bad, overprotective vampire, not to mention the alpha bad ass in New Orleans. When it come's to Sydney Willows, Kade can't help but feel something for this mere human. Working a case together and trying keep their hands off of each other deems to be some really hard work. With a sick killer out there picking off the women of Philadelphia, Sydney and Kade work together to get this sicko off the streets. With enough clues and run-ins, Kade and Sydney put together that who or what they're after isn't just some sicko, but some vampire sicko, wielding voodoo magic and is still in love with Kade and will do anything to get him back, including taking Sydney Willows out of the picture.

Geeez, I think I'm in love with a few of the vampires mentioned in this book. hehe. This book really caught my attention right from the beginning. The connection between Kade and Sydney kept be reading and wanting to know what came next, and before I knew it the book was finished. Despite her bad ass facade, Sydney can't help but let her guard down with Kade. Shes slowly letting him into her life and into her heart and she has no idea what to do with that. The catty comments between the characters really added that much more flare to this book, breathing more life into the book, although it was already sizzling with the heat off of the bodies of some sexy supernatural hunks ;)

I really liked this book, I'd have to say my favorite parts of this book, is where Sydney shows off just how bad ass she is. She doesn't really seem to notice that she is a human among supernatural beings. Which can be life threatening, but she's so bad ass she stakes vampires in her home and talks a good talk when facing a lover scorned in an alley, who happens to be the exact threat that she and Kade are after. What I didn't like from this book, hell, I don't think I didn't like anything from this book, of course I'm going to dislike the villains, but who doesn't? I think the villains we're essentially great and the threats they imposed really came through.

Really great book, I would definitely recommend this book, if you don't have it, get it now! I am so glad it's a series, I can't wait to get hands on the next book which is... drum roll please... Luca's Magic Embrace. Luca is Kade's best friend and fellow vampire, who's gone missing. There is no exact date on when this book will be out, but luckily for me, it'll be out sometime this summer :)

Kade’s Dark Embrace is the debut novel in Kym Grosso’s Immortals of New Orleans series. This book has it all: vampires, werewolves, witches, and voodoo. Unlike many books in the genre, the paranormal world is public knowledge in Kade’s Dark Embrace. Sydney, a human detective, is forced to work with Kade, a powerful vampire, during the investigation of ritualistic murders. The author does a great job of balancing the criminal/suspense story and the romance building between Kade and Sydney. There were times when I wanted to shake Sydney for being so stubborn. Sydney’s character works in a male-dominated job where showing any fear or weakness means no longer being seen as an equal. Her reaction to Kade’s alpha male attitude is completely understandable, especially since he took control over everything with the case they were supposed to be working on as a team. He has the typical, centuries old, vampire attitude who expects everyone to obey him. The sexual tension between Sydney and Kade is scorching hot and when they do get together, they explode off the pages. Still, Sydney fights Kade at every turn, showing her independence even when it’s obviously not in her best interest to ignore his commands.

This story is filled with non-stop action, suspense, and steaming sex blended flawlessly with strong characters you will love. Kade’s Dark Embrace is a must read for anyone who enjoys series like Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake or Keri Arthur’s Riley Jensen. I can’t wait to read what Grosso brings us in the next book which is due out this fall.

Loved this book. I was in a Paranormal slump and this book pulled me right out of it. And the best part it has an HEA...lol I have read way to much New Adult lately so it was real refreshing that this book was about one couple even though the story arc continues in the next book.

I loved Kade and Sydney. Kade was HOT and pure Alpha Vamp which I love. Sydney was a fiery tough as hell detective. The chemistry between the two was smokin. I loved watching the love progress between the two and all the ups and downs they had to go through to secure it. I also really enjoyed the secondary characters and can't wait to see them get books of their own.

This book was a fantastic beginning to a sexy as sin series full of Bad Ass, smokin hot, paranormal beings that make you have to go change your panties a few times while reading them. Go check out my Casting Post to see who I think represents all of these sexy characters. http://alphasauthorsbooksohmy.blogspo...

Kade’s Dark Embrace, the first book in Kym Grosso’s Immortals of New Orleans series, is a book with potential, yet it failed to deliver. I tried to love this one, I had hoped to love this one, but the more I read, the less I enjoyed.

At first, I was curious about this one. The constant head hopping between characters – one of my biggest pet peeves – annoyed me, but I was curious to see where the story would go. Then, a big information dump happened, and all the answers were before us. This would have been somewhat okay, if there had been twists. Alas, there were none. Things played out in a predictable fashion, and it was a chore to force myself to finish the book.

All in all, this could have been a decent read, but it didn’t take long for me to be done with the book. In fact, if I was the kind of person to not finish books, this is one I would have given up on.

It was Ok

I read this book after it was recommended by a friend. It was alright, but I found myself rolling my eyes too much. There were too many lines in it where I kept thinking "what a cliche". I got this book for free so I'm not sure if I will spend money on the rest of the series.

I read the ebook a while back, and my thoughts on the story stand. Now rereading in audiobook format brings so much back. This is a great way to gear up for reading the 5th book in the series!

The story her was very involved and flowed beautifully!! I was with it from beginning to end!! Really rich story telling that created a fabulous atmosphere! What a great way to kick off the series and give us some delicious paranormals to look forward to in the future!!

Sydney is a really kickbutt chick with serious attitude, maybe a touch too much at times. I will give her a pass though cause she is totally a Philly girl and that is how they are! She gets better in the end and I totally loved her!!

Kade is very delicious tall dark handsome Vamp!! He is rather swoon worthy and very Alpha!!! I loved that he was quick to recognize Syd as the one!

Loads of yummy supporting characters to make a gal drool!! And definite hints at the next book!! And yes their stories play out in the next books in the series. Deliciously Alpha men and sassy women!

The mixed narrative is great but at times disconcerting. It is always clear who the narrator is but it changes from paragraph to paragraph. It flows better in the audio, but you need to stay on your toes to keep up with who is speaking. Really fabulous hearing from supporting characters too! It made the story fuller.

The steam is delicious!! It is more of a tease for most of the book but once they get it on, holy hot and heavy!! Some very slippery shower action and a desk scene to make you scream!! There is a visit to a BDSM club and mention of tying up but no real play happens for these characters. Perhaps it will be a part of future books.

The audiobook is narrated by Ryan West, who is delicious!! His voice will melt your panties, especially at the naughty bits!!! Not sure I loved the accents, the slight British is not always consistent. The pace is great, really keeps things moving at slower moments. I enjoy that he doesn't try to go to high with the women, although she is kind of breathy. Still, he can seduce me with his voice any day!!

I still adore this series, there is just something about it that draws you into the dark and dangerous world. I can not wait for the rest of the series to pop up in audio!!

Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

This book is absolutely horrible. I don't think it deserves any stars. I got this through Audible because I love the Narrator Ryan West. I had just finished listening to Fight for Flight where Ryan was a Narrator and Holy cow was he amazing and sexy. Unfortunately he was the only good thing about the book and it wasn't enough to save it.
The main character Sydney was extremely unlikable and couldn't have been more annoying - I was actually hoping a bad guy would kill her or at least shut her up. She non-stop bitched and whined about how she didn't need a man protecting her, she could do everything herself. Then the second she got hurt (because she of course didn't listen when they told her how dangerous things were) she would immediately ask "where are you Kade? please help me". Then she would have to get saved by him, then yell at him for treating her like a child, then she would get into trouble again and yada yada yada into an endless circle of hell. Then to top it all off Grosso wrote the most NON sexy sex I've ever heard-I was seriously cringing the whole time. Every word she used was a huge turn off! When an author calls not only a woman's privately parts but a guys parts their "sex" It takes me out of the moment and I find it weird and creepy. I don't know how to describe the rest of Grosso's sex scenes - a bizarre mix of clinical descriptions, words like "mounds", "nub" and "pink tipped peaks" and flowery garbage words that just didn't work. It didn't help that the author has Sydney & Kade literally falling madly in love within 3 freaking days! Kade's been alive for centuries and has met and dated a million ladies but somehow this annoying, whiney, God awful woman (who he hasn't had a decent conversation with mind you) is "the one" and he's never known anyone like her. - I think he could have done much better. I could go on and on but the point is I wouldn't recommend this book - I couldn't even finish it.

Kym Grosso has created a fantastic beginning to what promises to be an amazing paranormal series-The Immortals of New Orleans! Kade is a dominant, sexy, extremely handsome over two century old ALPHA vampire that heads the paranormal community in New Orleans. Sydney is a head strong, street smart, beautiful Philadelphia cop that has to share her case with this "man" that has come to her city at the request of his long time friend, who is also a werewolf and a friend of Sydney's. They butt heads from the moment they are introduced which only adds to the immediate attraction and the sparks that begin flying.

Ms. Grosso has an awesome talent for creating believable, likable, infuriating and enthralling characters. She weaves a plot that pulls the reader into the story and her characters have you laughing, crying and screaming right along with them! She does not simply give you an easy story where vampire meets mate and they ride off into the sunset. She makes you work for it! She creates an entire paranormal community that spans from Philadelphia to New Orleans and I am sure the entire world before she is done. Not only are we dealing with a crazy power obsessed vampire but there are dark mages and white witches, it is a thrill ride that will have you reading faster and faster and unable to put it down!

Just when you think you are about to get your happily ever after Ms. Grosso is not done with us yet! She keeps the excitement coming until the very last page and promises much much more with her lead into the second book, Luca's Magic Embrace. Ms. Grosso's incredible depth of secondary characters and plot promises this will be a long running series with one book even more thrilling and captivating than the next! Grab this book and buckle up! The ride is more than worth it!!!

This book started out pretty good. This was the intor to a paranormal world. The king vamp of new orleans goes to philly to help solve (actually look into) murders of women where all of their blood has been drained.

Vamp hottie Kade meets badass hottie philly cop Sydney Willows and she is forced to work with him. She likes him, she likes her and it goes from there. It's an easy relationship, but the problem was that the flip flop back and forth by made it cheesy. It was then followed by... Oh, I love you & Oh I love you too. I don't understand it, but I do... Ookkayy!

It had way more potential & it was really short. I did find myself skimming over a bunch because it did lack any real connection & read like one of those books you have to take at face value. I think the first half was amazing, but the second half went way too fast. It could have really been played out more. Oh well. For a first time PNR by this author, it was a good start. I hope it gets better.

This book was super interesting. Not only did it have my beloved erotica, but I was intrigued with the storyline throughout the entire book as well. Which is awesomesauce in my opinion.

This is the story of Sydney who is a detective. In this world, supernaturals are known by humans. Humans know that vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, the whole nine, they know they exist. So there is a supernatural division of detectives. There are a string of murders happening in Sydney's city. She's the detective on the case. *enter sexy-as-sin Kade* He is entranced by Syd from the first time he sees her. She feels a pull to him too even though she is human and he is vampire.

This story is filled with jam packed action and lots of steamy moments that I absolutely loved. And of course Kade. *swoon* OH! And Luca! I effing loved him. I listened to this on audio and the narrators accent for Luca. Loved it!

Spoilers ahead

1)First of all the writing style

As she stretched her toned arms up over her head, he admired her firm, pert breasts straining against her tight, white t-shirt. Her black, spandex miniskirt accentuated her lithe, tanned legs.
Say what now??

2)Then the way the h spoke, even in her inner voice like a wannabe badass is already grating on my nerves

3)Then she met the H felt drawn to him but left to go have sex with her regular hookup at his club....the same guy who's friends with the H. Now if the H had done this I'd be pissed, no hooking up with others once that initial connection is felt! #IsaidwhatIsaid

3 strikes.....
I didn't even make it to 10% 😂😂😂😒 I'll be back because I was recommended this series but it's a pause for now
