I liked this book very much! As a dummy in buffer overflow, I had to learn the basics to cope with the class and this book was right to introduce me to all the concepts: stack smashing and all. SANS is really helpful!

deep info, not well organized. It confuses you alot. Unless you have a strong background about Assembly I recommand you to skip this and go to another basic book.
