Banshee 3:33, a blognovel with music

Rate this book
Banshee 3:33 is an HTML "blognovel with music." The plot unfolds in real time—with entries every 3-4 days—between Oct. 25, 2006, and May 4, 1918. Most entries include music (mp3) as part of the story.

The main character is You. You works in a public library and contends with such public as Jeb Aubois, who is in love with his hourglass-shaped lap dulcimer, and Lazare, the foot-high sans-culotte, who tries to get You guillotined for copyright infringement.

Aubois comes to You for help when his dulcimer is stolen. You finds it with a pebble inside it, wrapped with paper that says “Banshee 3:33” which, when unfolded, contains a mysterious verse. Delving into banshees on Aubois’s behalf, You is lured into the town’s sesquicentennial time capsule … and can’t get out.

When somebody finally does let You out, You doesn’t know who it is or where You is or why You has a Confederate battle flag draped around the shoulders. In the course of finding out, You is revealed to be a shellshocked, semi-invalid WWI vet.

Which is the real You? Banshee 3:33.
