Jackie Ivie was born and raised in a suburb outside Utah's capital, beautiful Salt Lake City. The second in a family of four daughters and one son, Jackie was constantly amusing her siblings with her invented games, escapades, and stories. And she was always reading. She would even walk the family dog, with one hand holding the leash, while the other held the ever-present book. No subject went unread, but once she discovered Historical Romances, there was no doubting her favorite genre.
Jackie has always been the busy type, rarely sitting still without being occupied in at least one activity, and usually more. When she was younger, it was nothing to find her watching television, while doing her homework, listening to music, crocheting like a madwoman, and reading, all at the same time.
After graduating, Jackie gained secure employment with a large service company and relocated with her growing family to the neighboring, sparsely-populated state of Wyoming. She then spent several years enjoying the wildlife, scenery, and open space that Wyoming is known for. In addition to writing, Jackie is an accomplished artist in several mediums, preferring mixed media. She has several pictures in print and has exhibited in art showings throughout the West. There was never anything she loved doing more than reading, however, and once she discovered the thrill involved with putting her own words and fantasies on paper there was no stopping her.
In 2001, Jackie and her family took a huge step and moved to the largest state of the nation; Alaska. Although it was her job that brought her here, Jackie has grown to love this land of amazing contrasts, breathtaking vistas, and the ever-present resident, the Alaskan moose. There's nothing else like it, and the very long days of summer lend themselves to hours and hours of energizing tasks, while the long winter nights are just right for her real love...writing.
Jackie has now written thirteen novels and is continually starting more. The thrill of writing has now been enhanced by seeing her actual story in print. Lady of the Knight is her first published work. It will be followed by Tender is the Knight scheduled for release this summer.
I am just loving this series. I have received my copies free in exchange for a review. Have you ever read a vampire story you just kept smiling throughout? Well this one I did. Never hear of a poetry writting vampire, that is until now. Comte Jean-Pierre de Margolis is a very amazing vzmpire. Really he does his assassinations and colects his pay. His favorite is when a man is taking unfair cruel advantage of a women. This makes the challenge of draining of his lifes blood that more entertaining. All the while composing poems and sonnets in his head of love? Yes, I am sure he is a true vamoire. It turns out he has waited centeries for his mate and has been unable to find her. Therfore all thoughts of sexual gratufacation is impossible. Only with his true mate will he be able to accomplish this feat. He keeps his attire as he wore when he was a mortal. With velvet coats ruffled shirts and skin tight pants. But for whom? He has no mate to appreciate all of his primping. When he enounters a woman dressed head to toe in form fitting black. Her skills with spiked throwing stars,

EXCERPT
Jean-Pierre put a hand to his forehead in a dramatic fashion. “I am in love!” he announced.
“You’re always in love. What else is new?”
“This time is different! I swear.”
“Right. Go on. And remember, I have a conference call coming in. A very large offer I cannot possibly refuse.”
“I found her, Akron.”
“Who?”
“My mate.”
There was a heavy sigh, loud enough to echo, as though the man used a microphone. “Again?”
“Non. You do not understand! This time it’s different!”
“And so, you decide to ruin what looks like an expensive, albeit archaic, ensemble by swimming in sewage?”
“Non. This is her fault.”
“She likes to go swimming?”
Jean-Pierre shook his head.
“You want to toss me a line with this bait?” Akron asked.
“She got my sword.”
“Your 4.8 million Euro sword? The one-of-a-kind sword you picked out and had us bid for?”
“Oui. That one.”
“Fine. You love her so much you gave her your new sword. Invaris is going to have your ass. He spent weeks pursuing that.”
“I didn’t give it to her. She claims it was stolen from her clan. She wanted it back.”
“Very well, then. You let her waltz off with a 4.8 million Euro sword and then you went swimming. Got it. Anything else?”
“I did not allow her to waltz, or anything approaching a dance. She cheated.”
“Well…you just can’t trust a woman. How many times have I said that?”
“I need your help, Akron. Please? I am desperate here.”
“That’s why I’m still listening.”
“I need help finding her.”
“I thought you just said you found her.”
“I did! And it’s wondrous!”
“You know, Margolis, I’ve been told finding your true mate is a wonderful thing. I have to go by what I’m told, unfortunately. I am not that lucky. But I have to state the obvious. You don’t look to be experiencing much wonder at the moment.”
“You are no help! I should have found a drunken sot and drowned my sorrows in his blood. That would be better than this!”
“I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what you need. Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? I’ll need specifics. What’s her name?”
The scraping sound of a chair being moved and then the creak as it got used came from the shadowy recess. Margolis stared at the unlit fireplace as if it had answers.
“I do not know,” he finally replied.
“Hair color?”
“I would say…it is dark.”
“Would say?”
“Oui.”
“Okay. Eye color?”
“Dark, as well. I think.”
“Size? Build?”
“Oh. Of that I am certain. She is of perhaps…five feet, five. Approximately 120 lbs. Athletic build. Very athletic.”
“Heritage?”
“I would say…Asian. But again, I am not sure.”
“Do you know what she looks like, or not?”
“No.”
“It’s not the voice at the other end of the all-night drive-through again, is it?”
i thought this book was cute... but i hated the ending.. it was rushed and just didnt make sense how they fell in love... considering they just met and she has had a troublesome life then bam she is like i love you baby? it just didnt go with how the story was going and then bam! it was over... yeah. to be honest it really bugs me because every book i read in the series is the same. it gets so good then it gets rushed and doesnt make any sense then ends... this author just doesnt know how to end a book properly.
Flamboyant assassin Jean - Pierre was just finishing his assignment when he meets his lifemate (she's trying to kill him and not with kindness). Takaiya was on a mission: to return the samurai sword to her clan. Instead she meets a fruitcake dressed like a drag queen. Takaiya tricks the sword away from Jean - Pierre. He is intrigued by her and is determined to find her. They meet up again at a party (he cleans up nicely). Can Jean - Pierre convince Takaiya that they belong together or will she disappear forever?@
This book is charming. I laughed out loud several times at the antics of vampire JP and his Ninja assasin lover. This book is very short but enjoyable. Amazon was offering it for free this past weekend and I didn't realize it was part of a series until now. I think it would be even better with the backstory you gain by reading previous books in the series. If you are looking for something short and satisfying this is it.
What a hopeless Romantic J.P. seems to be. He's constantly writing and reciting what he believes ti be Love, only to find out how very wrong he is. But boy is he knocked on his @#$ when his mate becomes his opponent. Now he learns the true meaning of what real Love is! ;) This is another fast paced, entertaining story of another Vampire Assassin finding his True Mate. Very funny series. I look forward to more. :)
Another in the Vampire Assassin series, this was a readable short story. I do not think it was stellar. The constraints of the short length mean that the plot is rushed and I see the potential for much larger stories in this author's work. It is worth reading, but has the issues you get with such pieces.
Love, love, love, This Arthur. I have read ALL of her V.A.L. books. I just can't get enough of the series ( & covers). plus if you join her Facebook reading group. (Street Assassin's) she sends you SWAG .! She takes the time to talk via email to her readers, especially if you are in her assassin's group.
Once again this author has written a good entertaining story. My only complaint is that it ended to soon! I really wish this story and the rest of the series were full length novels! Loveable vampire assassin's!
An very interesting short story about a vampire search for his perfect mate only to find his mate is an assassin as well. Action, romance, laughs and a really good story line.
J.P. the male lead is arrogant butt hat. The female was equally forgettable. The dialogue between the two was horrific. Just not a good read in my opinion
For some reason this particular book didn't appeal to me as the others I have read in this series. I was never able to get a good feel for JP, which made the book mediocre.
To be a poet is what this vampire would like to be. Join with me in finding his perfect mate. Will this poet find the missing key,or will hunters try to kill him?
