Bad Boy is an enemies-to-lovers romance. It involves a ruthless crime family, bonding with your captor gone wrong… or right, a D/s dynamic, and a ten-year age gap.
Heya! I'm Joe Satoria, I write sweet and spicy MM romances.
I mostly write Daddies and D/s dynamics in my pairings... some soft and sweet, other dark and dangerous.
As a queer person using he/they pronouns, I am an own voices author, which means you're reading through the eyes of lived experience... only the gay relationships part, definitely not the dangerous Daddies... oops!
Loved this gritty, dark world of Russian mobsters and organized crime that brought a brooding Mafia son and a sassy hacker together.
Danya, accused of stealing millions from the family laundering business, kidnaps Sutton, an elite hacker who’s escaped from the organization that raised him from a street orphan and taught him his skills. He suspects Sutton of being the thief.
But one thing leads to another and Sutton gets to live all his sexy kidnapping fantasies come to life after Danya discovers the sex-starved hacker’s giant dildo collection. After they’re fucking, Danya finds Sutton easy to extract information from and they begin working together to track down the real thief and shake up the organized crime underground from the inside with a trail of bloody chaos.
Each break their rules. Danya sleeps with a guy more than once; Sutton falls in love.
This would have gotten five stars because it was that good except I think it would have benefited from some line editing. The author had a style that favored sentence fragments and dependent clauses which made the prose awkward to read in parts. But the author clearly had talent so it wasn’t distracting enough to put down for that.
I’m usually not a fan of the instalove with the bossy captor sorts of narrative arcs but the way this was done was steamy, compelling and totally believable. Sutton perhaps didn’t have enough of a survival instinct at times but I loved Sutton and Danya as a couple. They had amazing chemistry and I loved the contrasts in their personalities that still fit perfectly together. The sex scenes were also well done. This was basically a kidnapping fantasy wrapped in a dark romantic thriller and it was one wild, compulsive read from start to finish.
I’d read more by this author and in this series. Though I must say we have another epilogue that ends in a marriage proposal when you already knew they had a HEA, but it left a nice transition point into the next book.
Definitely need myself more dark MM mafia romances in my life.
I liked this book, it was good. The writing could have been so much better and the length was too short for the romance. But alas, I liked it. Sutton was all sass and I was loving it. He was himself despite the situation he was in, it was hilarious. And Danya had been his family left overs for too long. He was scary when he needed to be but he was sweet too. I loved these two and their dynamics
Danya, a mafia man captures Sutton, a hacker when everything points to Sutton stealing his family's money. When he figures out Sutton didn't, Danya makes him help find out who did and they agree to a mutually beneficial sexual relationship. Sutton is cocky and super smart, Danya is all muscle but has some brains also. The actions in this book are a little choppy and hard to follow but in this book are clues to future book so that's cool. I did enjoy Sutton and Danya as a pair and if ever there should be a Joe Satoria series, this book is the prequel. I can foresee further adventures in their future. I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
satoria needs a better editor. half the sentences in this book are run-ons, and the other half aren't even full sentences. there are about six different plots thrown in, all with their own twists that aren't foreshadowed at all, and none of the conclusions feel earned. none of the main characters really do anything, other than have the plot happen to them and deus ex machina their way through the high-tension moments.
When I started reading, I had no idea what to expect. The plot has turns I didn't see coming. The sex is amazing (tho I wish there was more) All in all, a funny, slightly dark beautiful book.
I love this book. Sutton Levan is a hacker. He loves the rush of what he does. Until it sets him in the path of Danya Alexeyev a mafioso who is out for his blood for stealing from his family. There is one problem he didn't do it. Danger is at every corner bringing Sutton and Danya together. Can they stay one step ahead and find out where their relationship could go?
This book has a really promising plot but it was clumsy in execution. Additionally, I'm giving it a "Fudd" award for really poor gun selection (revolvers) and poor combat tactics.
Since bad boys who carry guns is kind of central to the plot, I was unable suspend my belief and go along for the ride, and I'm sorry for that, but no.
Revolvers have not been in common use for over twenty years. It would be helpful if authors would get some help nailing down gunplay facts.
