Book 1 in the Xylon Warriors series Warrior Braden Koll is on a mission to retrieve DNA-compatible women for breeding on the planet of Xylon. His current assignment is to locate an Earth woman Alexa Sandor found to be a match, and sexually initiate her into The Lair of Xylon. The lesser problem is she doesn't know anything about The Lair, him, or that she is a Xylon by birth. The greater problem is that, after meeting Alexa, Braden wants this woman for himself, even though the Warrior Council decreed she must mate another. Alexa Sandor is experiencing nightmares about a strange planet and a responsibility she doesn't understand. Now a man, supposedly from that planet, has come to "initiate" her into their society. The sexual ceremony, he explains, is to prepare her for breeding, so she can help produce children to save Xylon from domination by the Egesa a half-creature, half-humanoid race of Slave Masters. Despite her initial disbelief, this powerful, sexy man captures her heart with his strength and tenderness. He shows her things about herself and her body that she never thought possible. Ultimately, she believes his story, wants to help, and stay by his side forever. But... She needs to find the strength to leave Earth and travel to an unknown planet. If she can't, she will have to turn away from the only man she's ever loved. And her decision will not only affect the future of Xylon, but Earth as well.
Ruth started writing stories at age 8. At age 10, one of her stories won 1st in class (a romance, of course). Later, she spent years in a science fiction romance writers group, where she really fell in love with writing.
She is a member of Romance Writers of America and is a From the Heart chapter founding member. Her 1st book came out in 2001 - Wild Temptation, a western historical - followed by the Seasons of Romance anthology, which contained her short story, Naughty or Nice? (both books now out of print)
Ruth D. Kerce currently writes ultra-spicy romances for Changeling Press & she also has a few self-published stories.
I enjoyed the premise of the story. While the motivations of the hero are outlined well, the emotional investiture of the heroine is less believable. By the end, Kerce wraps up both protagonists feelings and it is satisfying, but at times I had difficulty crediting some of her actions.
The sexual interactions are varied and have elements of D/s. References to violence and non consensual activities are confined to secondary characters, but have multiple occurrences.
Finally, the overarching conflict for the series is well established by the end of this book leaving the reader with an definite interest in continuing the series.
Yikes! I just finished "Xylon Warriors I Initiation" and am now breathless to go on to "Xylon Warriors: His Carnal Need". This is a fast-moving science fiction whirlwind of an erotic story by Ruth D Kerce.
Alexa isn't sure what's going on, but now she's apparently expected to be 'initiated' by three men (yikes) after having narrowly escaped a bastardized 'initiation' by three lizard-looking creatures! All she wanted was to find her recently deceased mother's diary and figure out why so much of her life was so strange. Now, if these warriors are to be believed, her decisions will affect not just their world, but Earth as well.
The action is non-stop from page one. Just about everything for people from Xylon revolves around sex, and usually with more than one partner! The story does take place in rapid-fire scenes that sometimes switch with no warning, which is occasionally irritating. Other than that, love the story, love the book!
There is an interesting premise and the characters are all interesting but a little 2D in many places. This is supposed to be erotica, as the whole premise is to sexually initiate this 1/2 breed human into the Xylon world.
My biggest issue was the incompetence of the warriors to protect this invaluable female. After the first attack, I would think they would rethink the situation. It seemed like the Daegas was able to infiltrate and spy on these "warriors" without any problem and the warriors were incompetent. So after the 4th infiltration, it just became ridiculous. By then I got the idea that if the bad guys had wanted to, they could have killed them all without any problem because the warriors were so outclasses. I could only think that they were letting the situation go on.
The next big problem was that this is supposed to be an erotic novel but it seems like it is trying to be a lot more. We keep on switching back from the initiation ceremony to the infiltration, and battles going on right in the house, over and over. either tell the story or go to the sex, don't go back and forth each time the couple changes position. It takes away from the erotic and turns it into trying to be a scifi. This is not high scifi, it is simplistic and just barely there plot, so trying to entice the reader to the scifi story while the sex is going on is just distracting and irritating, especially since the scenes are of incompetence and leave a big feeling of frustration.
So the good, the characters, though some not completely well drawn, and the sex. The bad the incompetence and the continual switch between that and the sex.

This book read like a B-Sci Fi movie, not saying it didn't have its merits.
The Xylon's and the Egesa (lizard like humanoids, reminded me of the Gorn from Start Trek) are at war. The Xylons have discovered that Alexa is half Xylon and a superbreeder. The Xylon culture is highly sexual and are dying out so they are trying to find breeder to increase their numbers. (How a society manages to be highly sexual but not producing any children I'm not sure.) In any case, Braden along with his friends Erik and Leila and Kam find her to bring her into their society. In order to do so she must be initiated sexually in order to keep her safe.
The scenes switch back and forth from hot sex scenes to people (or Egesa) trying to kill them. There are references to a rape that occurred with a past initiation however it is shown to be unacceptable to their culture and the culprits dealt with.
Overall, its not a great plot (like I said, its similar to a B- movie) but the sexual scenes make up for it. After all, its not the type of book you read for depth anyway. I enjoyed it enough I will likely continue with the series.
I am glad I didn't have to pay for this book!! "Initiation" Book 1 in the Xylon Warrior series could have been written much better. It certainly had potential, if you are a fan of erotic paranormal/fantasy romance. I love this genre. The problem I had was the Xylon Warriors kept getting their butts kicked by their enemies the Egesa, a half human half lizard race. They want to sterilize women who can breed with the Xylon warriors, this is their way of controlling and killing off the Xylon race. "Initiation" features Braden and Alexa. The Initiation is a 3 part sexual act that prepares the female to breed and produce Xylon children. Before and during Alexa's Initiation they are attacked and eventually captured by the Egesa. The story became frustrating with how offend they were defended and got their butts kicked. I like the good guys to be the ones that do the butt kicking not the other way around. This is really a 2.5 star book, since I can't do that I gave it 3 stars. Begin the first book in the series maybe the books will get better, but I wouldn't pay for a 2nd book it would have to be free or loanable like this one
Quite an interesting story and setting. I was really surprised by the fast pace, the slow character unveiling and overall development. I liked how it turned out and was glad to be able to read it (I lucked out and got a freebie of the book). The story kept me on edge and due to the fast changing developments and sometimes even jumps between settings it was hard until the very end to figure out on which side everyone stood. It kept me guessing about the true identity of the villain until the very end __ that made reading the story a real page-turner.
I have to admit, if the follow up books wouldn__t be so expensive I would definitely continue reading the series. It__s a recommend for a hot Sci-fi Romance with a twisty plot and loveable characters.
Erotic scifi. m/f with a little assistance to make one or two quasi-menages. The universe was ok. The characters were ok, but the plot felt a little thin, with too much unexplained, so that I couldn't fully buy in to why the "initiation" of the half-alien/half-human woman had to take place at her house, where things were so dangerous. This book also suffers from insta-lust and insta-love, the later is the one I find harder to live with.
To be honest, I think I am over the use of "aliens who must have lots and lots of sex" as a plot device for a book to have, well, lots and lots of sex.
So, my husband and I went out yesterday to a second hand book store. He choose this book for me. I have to admit when I first read the back cover it made me giggle. "Xylon" sounds like a bad Sci-Fi movie! However, this book turned out to be a good read. The story was captivating and I found myself reading through the night until my eyes wouldn't stay open. There was a budding relationship, action and adventure, and intrigue. Although the book is sexy, not sure I would categorize it as erotica. The action parts of the book detracted from the sex scenes and added more to the story, so I believe that a wider base of readers would enjoy this book than just those that read erotica.
I always love a good futuristic/sci fi erotica book, makes my imagination come alive! Not to mention the fact that i am a sucker for series books so as soon as i read this first one i was hooked and had to immediately download the other 3 (thank god for the kindle app and it's instant gratification factor:) ). This series has a great premise and some hot scenes;) I recommend it for anyone who likes erotica, but if you are not really into menage or spanking this might not be for you.
This was a freebie on Amazon, and because the reviews were pretty good, I decided to give it a try. I was very surprised at how good it was. It has lots of sex, carries its "erotic" designation honestly, but tells a story of characters who struggle evil forces and love each other very much. I thought it was a great fantasy, with otherworldly settings and well developed characters. I have already downloaded book 2 in the series and am anxious to get started on it.
Poor Alexa, finds a hot man who wants to have unlimited sex with her, but he is not from Earth. And he wants her to go back to his planet, where he is suppose to turn her over to their leader. But what are they to do, when neither wants to that, and other forces are trying to get to Alexa, and make her unfit for breeding. I could also see other characters crying out for their own stories.
Ruth sure knows how to write fantastic novels and Initiation is no exception. The chemistry between Braden and Alexa is electrifying and there are plenty of plot twists and turns making this a definite must read!!!!!!!!!!!! Once you read Initiation you will immediately buy the whole Xylon Series and you won't be disappointed.
This was surprisingly enjoyable. Smut with a believable plot. Heck I was surprised it even had a plot as most of erotica is smut based with background noise. I will be hunting up the other 3 books in the series. I loved Braden, Erik and Kam. Heck I even liked Leila and Alexa. It will be interesting to see who (and how) they hookup.
This is a really hot erotic read. I really enjoy it and I can't wait to read the rest in the series. I'm really wanting to find out what happens next. It has some really good suspenseful moments in Initiation. Also got to find out about a whole new race of people. Really good job on the storyline and loved the characters.
Really enjoyed this futuristic/Sci-Fi!!!! This book "Initiation" is the first book in a series of 4 books called "Xylon Warriors", and is followed by book two ..."His Carnal Need".
The scenes are very graphic so for those that are offended by this, be warned.
I have downloaded the second book and am now off to read it!!
Found this book very difficult to read even though it was a good story and I persisted because of that. Unfortunately I found that enough bad things happened with enough frequency that I felt constantly anxious reading the book which took the fun out of it. Will have to be in the right mood to read another.
I am not into erotica, but the mystery and Scfi suspense made this book worth the try. The character development was good, but I could have been happier with more mystery and suspense and less sex. I will recommend this book to those who enjoy reading erotica, but I, personally will not read the rest of the books in the series. Sorry, this was not my cup of tea.
Wow, I think I may have outdone myself on the embarrassment front. The book was bad. The plot and premise were terrible thin. But I tell you what: you have a couple hot dudes trained in the art of lurve, and a willing lady, and you can do better. All I'm saying. Move along.
No slow start on this one. The Introduction/Prologue and Chapter one were very steamy. A foursome to get it rocking along. The convoluted plot lives within very erotic sci-fi backdrop with exceptionally well done character development. I’d recommend this for erotic book lovers.
This book would have been great if there was less sex and more story. Or at least more story.
Xylon needs compatible females that can breed in order for their race to survive. The initiation process is very involved. But hey what is too much when the safety of the world is at stake.
good book, stayed up most of the night reading it and finished it as soon as I got home from work today :) Alexa is a breeder and Braden is a Xylon warrior sent to earth to recover her before the lizard guys do and Initiate her. lot of funny moments and I am looking forward to Erik's story
This is was a bit out of my comfort zone (there was a some questionable relations in a couple of scenes.. RAPE is not something to read about and was uncomfortable...) Interesting concept but some parts could have been deleted in my mind... This book is Sci-fi erotica
