Investigating is not really Alley’s thing; however it is her best friend Val’s. So when Alley gets an unexpected phone call in the middle of the night from Val explaining that another one of her crazy plans has backfired, Alley springs to action to save her best friend once again. Alley doesn’t understand Val’s fascination with trying to figure out who the next student popping pills is until someone starts a rumor that it was Alley who had been snooping around for details. In a twist Alley never saw coming, she suddenly faces consequences for whoever started the treacherous lie, and this time the possible suspect is out for blood. With the help of her other sidekicks, they discover who is really calling all the shots and to their horror they realize who has really been taking the drugs.

My luck appeared once more when I became the part of the tour for Uninvited and after enjoying the first book so much you can only imagine how I felt when I found the two remaining books of the series in my mailbox. Over the moon doesn't even start to cover it.
In Uninvited we met Alley who might be me in some other life. She is the witty one who doesn't spend her time only for shopping but at the same time she doesn't judge others for doing that. She might not be the queen bee as her best friend Val but that doesn't stop them from being best friends. This time Val is the one that started some problems with her tries to become a detective. Only this time Shane can't let them go deeper into the case as it might get to dangerous. Ally is aware of that and she tries to let everything go but the trouble has its way of finding her. Soon enough she sees that the things are much more dangerous that any of them believed and once again they must stick together. When you add Shane's hot and cold moments you see that she has had enough of everything. Unfortunately universe is not a really good listener.
It surprised me how much I enjoyed this story, as much or if not more than Uninvited. Alley is growing and she is starting to change from a girl to a woman and trying to get her feelings in order. Others aren't helping her which gets her weaknesses out and that makes her real. Shane at the other hand tries to balance everything and even though he is hot and cold it's because he doesn't know what to do. He is supposed to be the older and smarter one here but he is only a boy too.
This all leaves us with book three - Compromised in which I'll unfortunately have to say goodbye to these lovely characters. I'm not ready to do that just yet though. Some time soon maybe...
Confiscated is book 2 in the South Hills Sidekicks trilogy and leaves off perfectly where book 1, Uninvited left off. Once again we are treated to the craziness of this awesome group of friends consisting of Val, Alley, Libby and Kayla. This time, the girls get sucked into investigating suspected drug dealings within the school – as well as outside of the school. Things become a bit more dangerous in this installment, however there are still tons of laughs and that sizzling chemistry between Shane and Alley steams from the pages! In Confiscated, Shane has his hands full and nearly overflowing with dealing with these 4 girls – particularly Val. The things that she gets them into will leave you shaking your head. It is the relationship between Shane and Alley, however, that will have you flying through pages, hand-over-your-heart, aching for more. Yes, this is YA and no there are no actual sex scenes of any sort, however the tension created between these two is even better than a sex scene in my opinion! The way they constantly bounce off one another and get under one another’s skin in every way is fabulous and just pure FUN! With an excellent combination of romance, suspense, humor and fun, Confiscated is definitely one YA book that I highly recommend! I love this series – and do want to mention that even though it is part of a series, each could easily be read as a stand-alone. There is enough background info tidbits thrown in throughout the stories so that a new reader would not be left scratching their head and feeling lost. As with the first, once I finished this, I was left dying for more and dived right in to book 3!!
This series is one of the best YA mystery I've read all year. Leah Spiegel was nice enough to send me this and the third book in exchange for a review. I loaded them onto my ereader and didn't put it down until I had finished both books. Needless to say I loved them. The characters were awesome and so realistic and I still claim Shane as my book boyfriend.
The ending of this one forced me to continue reading, big cliffhanger, and I loved it. Leah you are now on my to watch list of authors. This one wasn't as funny as the first one and I still want more romance between Ally and Shane but all in all it was awesome.
Confiscated has more Val, Alley, Libby and Kayla getting into trouble, though not as funny as one it still has its moments. It also has hot Shane doing his best to keep Alley from getting into that trouble. Which is a lot of work for poor Shane! I must say, reading about these fumbling (but fabulous) sidekicks is a fun read. Looking forward to the next book, which will be coming out....?? *fingers crossed* Soon I hope Leah.
I loved this second installment of South Hills Sidekicks and I'm really glad that they finally got rid of Taylor and now all of the ties and hints throughout the 1st and 2nd books click together. But I am really bummed that we didn't get read about the Ice Ball or who got 'Ice King' and 'Ice Queen.' I love Alley and Shane's "Relatioship" because it is so connfusing and no one knows where the boundaries are, and it is really kind of hilarious actually.

Just as fun as the first, it was really more like one book split in two rather than an a sequel. Warning though, it did end on a cliffhanger, so if you don't like those.... can't wait for the next one!
