I am usually the biggest advocate for this series because I think the smut is some of the best smut I've ever read (and I've read a lot), and each story still has an engaging plot, but this one wasn't for me. Tbh, this one made me uncomfortable. This is the first time in my entire smut-reading career where the term "good girl" was giving me the ick. Good girl was said 46 times in this book, and bad girl was said 17 times...it was too much. There are some spoilers ahead but I can't hold back.
I understand you're supposed to be able to feel the age gap here (although, it's only 4 years, so barely an "age gap" in my opinion), but the female main character, Sydney, was written to seem a bit too immature. She was 20-years-old throughout this story, but I felt like I was reading about a 14-year-old. I get that she's a "good girl" (if you forget, this book reminds you that she's a good girl about 5,686,737 times), but she mostly just seemed like she just graduated junior high. All of the spicy scenes had her mommy and daddy issues built into them in a way that made me feel gross. Like, the main characters would go out of their way to have sexy encounters where her parents might catch her because then she'd be a "bad girl." Idk, man. For me, the possibility of my parents potentially catching me getting fingered in front of a mirror is not my kink, but hey, to each their own, I guess. It was also really weird when they planted condom wrappers in Sydney's parents car car so that her parents would find them.
Truthfully, I feel like the 'brother's best friend' trope is really overdone in general, or maybe I've just read this trope too much, but I don't really get excited about it. It has to be done really well for me to love it, and this one was just an average scenario that had a FMC who was the real villain of the story. The 3rd act conflict is almost always the same in brother's best friend tropes (oh no! the brother found out!). *sighs*
...I just had a hard time connecting with this or caring about the supposed "taboo" with the brother's best friend trope. On a personal level, I am a single woman in my late-20s, and I have 2 older brothers. If I liked one of my brother's best friends, it would be like...what's the big deal...they're both adults...
Anyways, I was rolling my eyes a lot throughout this book. Sydney was bland as white rice. She was definitely a pick-me girl, in my opinion. Her ~amazing culinary skills~ were giving me 'Feyre painting vibes' (cringe). I was kinda lolling about her cooking because she made basically 2 dishes for Preston throughout this book, and they were virtually the same thing: some form of carb with shellfish (lobster raviolli and shrimp risotto). As someone who is allergic to shellfish, I was like eek gross...show some range in your cooking, girl. lol
Also, if I had to read about how Sydney was a "good girl" one more time, I was going to throw my kindle. I feel like this book fools you into thinking it's all about a praise kink, but it's not. It's about the FMC being extremely immature, very sheltered, a bit boring with no backbone, and inexperienced. I am sure there are readers who can relate to her, but for me, I just couldn't relate. The 3rd act breakup was 100000% Sydney's fault...like seriously, it was only Sydney's fault. She shouldn't have sent that text to Preston when she knew he was with Colin, and then she shouldn't have gotten mad at Preston for saying she shouldn't have sent that text. Her horrible inner monologue endlessly prattling on about what Preston must be feeling during the confrontation with Colin in his apartment made me want to scream. Sydney literally launched an "i love you" at Preston in the worst possible way and then immediately broke up with him for needing a damn minute to think. I'm actually getting mad all over again just typing this. The author tried to make Sydney look better again in the next chapter by having Cassidy be like "she's trying to help you by not making you choose between her or Colin." Sorry Cassygirl...it's too little too late; I've seen how crazy and childish Sydney is, and I hate her. Sydney, a glorified child, was the villain of this story. She was so fucking childish that she made Preston (who has been a completely immature jackass for the first 4 books of this series) look like a mature man.
Speaking of Cassidy, there was a little too much of Cassidy in this. The Doctor was the only other book in this series that I'm like, meh, about (although I like The Doctor more than this shit), and I was annoyed at how much Cassidy/Doctor Dad were in this. It makes sense why they were in the story since she's Preston's ex and he's Preston's dad, but that didn't make me any happier about it. Whenever Preston would be upset about his situation with Sydney, Cassidy and Doctor Dad kept being like, "this is what you did to us" or made it about themselves/refer back to the beginning of their taboo relationship, and I was like NO ONE FUCKING CARES ANYMORE! THIS IS NOT YOUR BOOK! SHUT UP! But that's probs an overreaction on my part LOL
Another big issue that I had with this book was that it was repetitive. I swear the same thing happened in every chapter. Preston would pick Sydney up, one of them would say "I have something for you" and give the other person a gift wrapped in black paper, and then they'd have sex. The sex was pretty repetitive because how kinky are you going to get when the FMC is a virgin...I skimmed most of the smut, which was a shame because I think Nikki Sloane did such an amazing job writing the smut for the first 4 books of this series. After such heavy steam in the last few books, this book felt vanilla (or maybe just boring bc both of the MCs were sub-par).
Finally, Preston. After reading the first 4 books of this series where Preston was always written as an asshole, selfish character, I just couldn't bring myself to care about Preston. I know that this book is his redemption arc, and I didn't necessarily dislike him, but I just don't really give a fuck about him. He's so boring to me, and I wasn't into his sex scenes. Side note, I think Preston is such a douchebag name for a man LOL (no offense towards any particular Preston). He's just not book boyfriend material for me, and I couldn't see him being sexy.
Unfortunately, I'm disappointed in this. My opinion - skip this book, but read the rest of the series.

Preston’s book is one I’ve been wanting for a while. I was ready to see him get his happily ever after. I didn’t think it would be with his best friend Colin’s little sister, but here we are. I loved Sydney. She was a great character and she and Preston were good together.
If you’re looking for a fast paced and fun book check this one out. It was a great end to this series.

Oh but how I've been waiting for Preston's book. It feels like I've been waiting forever. But you know what they say about good things coming for those who wait? See what I did there? Ha! But I digress. Where was I? Ah, yes. I was in the process of telling you that this was easily my favorite book in the series to day! I fell so hard for Preston and Sydney.
We met Preston first as the ex boyfriend of Cassidy and son of her new lovah, Dr Lowe. Yes, it's as deliciously dirty as it sounds. Preston was the ex who I loved to hate in that book. He was immature, selfish, but with just the hint of something redeemable that you couldn't help but grab onto. He continued to make a guest appearance in the rest of the series and you can see his character arc grow.
Sydney is the younger sister of Colin from The Frat Boy. Yes, the frat boy turned porn star. That one. So of course his sister is the good girl to her brother's irreverent bad boy vibes. She's the girl that tried like h*ll to please her ridiculously strict parents and ultimately gave up. SO what's a good girl to do when she finally gets pushed too far? Find someone to teach her to be oh so bad of course. And who better than her brother's best friend and the man her brother threatened to stay away from her? Yes, that's also as deliciously dirty as that sounds.
Sydney and Preston agree to a secret arrangement. She will use him to teach her to be bad, and he promises her three very dirty lessons. No feelings, no dating, no complications, and most importantly no one can know.
I enjoyed this story so much that I binged on it in one sitting. I loved Preston's character growth and redemption arc throughout this series. But man, he really shines in this book. He's grown up and matured and he's not the same immature boy we met in The Doctor. Sydney may be a good girl, but she's not ingenue. This is s girl who can hold her own and isn't afraid to go after what she wants. I loved her and her quiet perseverance. I also loved the way she had Preston tied in knots. He was a goner before he even knew he was a goner.
The story was easily my favorite in the series and oh so satisfying. And that ending? Perfection. Do yourself a favor and read the series in order to really get the most out of this one. Trust me.

It felt so good to be back in the neighborhood.. the Nashville Neighborhood of course!
This time we are getting a bit of a redemption arc for Preston but it might just come at the cost of his friendship with Colin. Because Preston has his eye on Sydney, his best friend (and business partner's) little sister.
But how can he resist her when she is asking him to teach her such filthy things?
Of course, Preston CAN'T resist and we begin a secret relationship for a limited time. 3 dates to be precise. In which Sydney will get the education she desires and hopefully, convince Preston to risk it all.
These two were fire together and there was so much pent up desire on both sides. It made for some very steamy scenes, and the forbidden nature just made it more fun. I really loved their easy connection with each other and how they realized they get along so well but have kept themselves away from one another to please other people.
My one complaint that soured me a bit towards the end... had to do with how other characters reacted to this relationship. I just wish, based on what they went through in their romances, they were a bit more understanding. It felt off that they would react that way
Overall, it was great to be back and if you are a fan of earlier books in the series, there are some great cameos.

EASILY FIVE STARS. I felt so back at home in this series and I’m so damn sad it’s over but this was the best way to go out. Preston falling in love was EXACTLY WHAT WE NEEDED. This book was so damn spicyyyy oh my GOD.

AFTER reading: I started reading this a few weeks after it released. Had some ARCs due, so I put it down and just now picked it back up. I think I had like 5 chapters to read. It was entertaining, but I feel it was missing a spark that the rest of the series had. This was pretty low stakes compared to the others. Best friend’s younger sister/older brother’s best friend. “Bad boy” teaching a “good girl” how to be “bad” and it turning into a secret relationship. But essentially they just bang a lot and she defies her controlling parents a little bit.
I appreciated that in the end the heroine was like, “everyone can eat crap, I choose me,” before the happy ending happens since everyone was trying to boss this woman around or at least she felt that way, and it was just too much. All in all this was a decent read, but a bit of a let down for the final book in a series if I’m completely honest. 🤷♀️

Boring boring boring. I only finished reading this because the previous book was amazing.
The last book in this series and this was so boring.It's not a bad book.I will actually recommend reading the whole series, including this book, because Preston's storyline wraps up very nicely.
Other than that, it took me a while to finish it.

Brother’s bsf will always hit for me!!! And you add in fake dating, spicy lessons, sneaking around and good girl x bad boy???? Of course I was gonna love this book.

I knew this book was going to be good, especially when we find out it’s Preston’s book! YA GIRL LOVES A GOOD REDEMPTION ARC!!

The Good Girl is the fifth installment in the Nashville Neighborhood series. The books in this series are interconnected standalones, meaning you don't have to read them in order, but it'll improve your experience if you do.
Preston Lowe is Cassidy's ex and Greg's son from The Doctor. It's been roughly four years since the events of that book. On the other hand, Sydney Novak is Colin's (The Frat Boy) little sister. Colin is not other than Preston's best friend and he has made abundantly clear that Sydney is off limits to Preston.
Sydney has always been a good girl, a good daughter, living as her parents wish her to. But she doesn't want to be like this anymore.
“You said it, and you were right. All I've ever been is a good girl, and I'm so fucking tired. I don't want to be that person anymore.”
Preston is more than happy to teach her how to be bad, despite his best friend's warning. Sydney has always had a crush on Preston. He, in turn, is convinced that their lessons will be nothing more than sex. They can't be anything more than sex. And that's pretty much the plot.
Preston and Sydney's chemistry was electric. The smut was a giving. I had complete faith it would be good, and, damn, it was amazing. Also, good girl as a pet name hits differently than when it's only used as praise. I liked it a lot. And I'd like to emphasize how realistic and relatable that is. Which in itself is a breath of fresh air considering how over the top smutty novels have become.
Preston has come a long way since the attention-seeker boy he was in The Doctor. Seeing Preston slowly opening up to love Sydney was so sweet and natural. I loved how it played out.
The story is not deep in feelings, nor is it intended to be. Nevertheless, it's very real as it shows Sydney's process of reassessing the values her parents imbued her with—especially those regarding sex. I also found it interesting that they weren't religious. People can and see sex as a taboo even without a religious background.
The parallelism with the other stories was a nice touch as well. We can see firsthand the characters reacting when put in the other's shoes.
If you're looking for a light, fast-paced, and scorching read, you're in for a treat with this one.

I'm almost certain that I will retain very little of this book one month from now. It doesn't reinvent the wheel and it, instead, does exactly what you'd expect a brother's best friend forbidden romance with a virgin FMC smutty novel to do.
The trouble is, even the spice is pretty forgettable. It's good, there's no doubt about that. It simply doesn't stick to your brain like your favourite romance novels will.
Nevertheless, I did enjoy how attentive Preston is and how skilful he is at reading Syndey's body language and micro expressions. It's a wholly necessary facet of his characterization that became the perfect counterbalance to Sydney's cautiousness and inexperience vocalizing what she wants.
I found myself hoping to see more MMCs with those traits in the future because it really was quite refreshing.

WHAT THE HECK TOOK ME SO LONG TO READ A NIKKI SLOANE BOOK!!! I need to jump on and her backlog. I couldn’t put this book down. It was feel good, witty and spicy. This had an innocence but yet so dirty. It’s right up my alley.
Sydney is a good girl. She lives her life the way her parents expect her too. She goes to a college graduation party that is for her brother and his best friend Preston. She shares a moment with Preston, who she so happens to have a secret crush on since high school. That moment left a lasting impression. A year later they run into each during a time she needs someone to vent her frustrations about not wanting to be a good girl anymore. So she asked Preston to teach her to be to bad girl and help her gain some life experiences. Preston agrees to give her some lessons. She wants him to give her lessons in seduction. Sydney wants to explore her sexuality and loose her V card to Preston. The main problem is her bother can’t find out.

I loved to see these characters mature and find their way. Preston truly worked on himself while helping Sydney. Then watching him develop feelings for her on such a different level. Through all the lessons Sydney developed a strength that made her an awesome FMC. Together they’re perfect.

4.5 stars! The Good Girl is book 5 in Nikki Sloane’s Nashville Neighborhood series and this one was so much fun! This is a brother’s best friend, bad boy-meets-good girl, teach me/sensual lessons, forbidden romance, with some fake dating vibes as well!
“He wasn’t wrong. I was a good girl, but sometimes, especially when I thought about him, all I wanted to be was bad.”
Preston is a character we met in the very first book in the series and he’s definitely been working on himself the past few years. He’s trying to be more aware of his actions, be more thoughtful and caring, and act less selfish. He finds himself pulled to Sydney, but just one problem…she’s his best friend’s younger sister who he has been warned to stay away from. Colin (the hero of The Frat Boy), is not only Preston’s best friend but also his business partner so he’s really trying to follow his rule and stay away from Sydney. But Sydney, who has crushed on Preston for years, definitely has other plans and doesn’t care about her brother’s warning…
Sydney is a classic “good girl” who wants Preston to help her go bad. She’s tired of her parents strict rules on her life and wants Preston to help her lose her virginity and show her all the things she’s been missing out on. All of course while hiding it from her brother. 👀
This book was just so much fun, the lessons scenes were all so good! I liked how Sydney wants to be a personal chef and really enjoys cooking and pleasing people with her food. I did think at times Preston was a bit too competitive or his inner thoughts about winning did come off a bit “off” for me at times. It was fun seeing a bunch of familiar characters again from this whole series: Colin and Madison from The Frat Boy (Colin is Sydney’s brother and Preston’s best friend and business partner), Troy from The Pool Boy (he’s friends with Preston and a client for his event planning business), Cassidy and Dr. Lowe from The Doctor (Preston is Dr. Lowe’s son and Cassidy’s ex). This whole series has just been a delight and I loved this one!

I love that Preston has grown up since we were first introduced to him in The Doctor. He is not the little sh*t he once was, and we finally get to see a little redemption.
Sydney is adorable! I loved her character arc and her attitude. This book was an incredible continuance of the series!

nikki sloane just ALWAYS delivers on the spice and the connection.
this is a brother’s best friend, smex coach, good girl x bad boy, reformed playboy romance.
this is definitely not anything new when it comes to brother’s best friend or the reformed playboy teaching the innocent girl but it was a really fun read and preston went from never wanting to date anyone seriously to being such a simp for her, i ate it UPPPP.
and of course, the spice is always extra EXTRA in this series. the frat boy is definitely still my favorite but this was such a fun read.

whew, another series completed! i didnt LOVE this series, but i did enjoy it and liked that it was quick reads to break up my other reading. i also enjoyed that each of the books were taboo and that spice was 🤌🏻. brother’s best friend is always such a fun trope for me to read and this book was no exception. i loved the tension and the sneaking around the the forbidden aspect that preston and sydney’s relationship had. and how preston was sort of a “bad boy” and obviously sydney is a “good girl”. i did feel like sydney acted kind of immature for her age sometimes throughout the book, but im not reading this series for plot so the spice made up for that🤷🏻♀️.

Enjoyed this spicy read from Nikki Sloane. Loved seeing Preston's story and that he finally got an HEA. Even though Sydney was the typical "good girl" she didn't feel too naive for me. I love the angst that she is Preston's best friend's little sister. But i felt the ending wrapped up a bit to fast and felt rushed.

I would like to sincerely thank the author and Valentine PR for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I had read 'The Doctor' by Nikki Sloane, which is an age gap romance and a son's ex-girlfriend romance, and it was a good read. So when I saw that in 'The Good Girl ' it is the story of the Son, I was really intrigued to read the redemption arc of the son.
The story follows Preston and Sydney, who meet at a party. Preston feels an instant spark towards Sydney, but he fails to recognise that she is his best friend/business partner's sister, and therefore, she is off limits. But when she requests him for some 🔥 lessons 🔥, how can he possibly say no to her?
In the first few chapters of the book, I felt that Preston did not go through any kind of redemption, and he's the same cocky and arrogant guy that he was in the previous book. But as the story progressed, I really appreciated Preston's character development and how he grew into a mature, caring, and understanding guy. I had read 'The Doctor' by Nikki Sloane, which is an age gap romance and a son's ex-girlfriend romance, and it was a good read. So when I saw that in 'The Good Girl ' it is the story of the Son, I was really intrigued to read the redemption arc of the son.
The story follows Preston and Sydney, who meet at a party. Preston feels an instant spark towards Sydney, but he fails to recognise that she is his best friend/business partner's sister, and therefore, she is off limits. But when she requests him for some 🔥 lessons 🔥, how can he possibly say no to her?
In the first few chapters of the book, I felt that Preston did not go through any kind of redemption, and he's the same cocky and arrogant guy that he was in the previous book. But as the story progressed, I really appreciated Preston's character development and how he grew into a mature, caring, and understanding guy. Preston Lowe finally gets his turn at being the main character. He’s come a long way since he was first introduced in The Doctor, because I was definitely not a fan of him back then. And it seems like poetic justice that the person who holds his interest the most is his best friend Colin’s sister, Sydney Novak. Preston initially comes off a bit immature and spoiled and even entitled. However, I can admit that he has grown up more in the last few books and even agree that he’s a good friend to Colin and Troy. A few humbling experiences seemed to have knocked him down a peg and made him realize that he needs to be more accountable and responsible and less self centered. The fact that he acknowledges this is a step in the right direction.
Sydney is always responsible and following the rules to appease her parents. When her goals and her parents’ goals for her don’t align, she’s had enough of being a good girl and what better person to show her the ropes of being bad other than Preston? At first glance, it doesn’t seem like they would have much in common, but they’re both driven, competitive, and visionary thinkers. The chemistry is definitely there and continues to heat up between them. While the sexy scenes are part of the story and their relationship development, they both still have their own journey and milestones to achieve. Of course I wanted a front seat to the full circle of karma for Preston, and not because he deserved punishment, but for him to realize he can’t help who he falls in love any more than the other characters in the previous books and that there’s always a sacrifice involved. In that way, Preston didn’t disappoint. As for Sydney, she had to straddle a fine line to to get what she wanted, but when she was done compromising and followed her interests, she should’ve known she’d always come out a winner. While this might be the last book in the series, there is no forgetting this Nashville neighborhood any time soon.
