This beautiful and colorful autobiography about the foremost songwriting team in entertainment chronicles the lives of Robert B. Sherman and Richard M. Sherman. They wrote the songs for THE TIGGER MOVIE, MARY POPPINS, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, SNOOPY COME HOME, THE SLIPPER AND THE ROSE, CHARLOTTE'S WEB, LITTLE NEMO, INKAS THE RAMFERINKAS and many many more classic musicals. Their stories about Walt Disney are priceless and their lives as songwriting brothers is amazing. They also devote a chapter to their songwriting father Al Sherman ('Potatoes Are Cheaper', 'You've Gotta Be A Football Hero', et al) All in all, it is a marvelous journey down musical memory lane! A must read!
As vibrant and alive as the The Nickel Tour, this amazingly produced book has tremendous recollections by The Sherman Brothers while also sharing those stories with the many iconic images their beloved songs so well supported. Any Disney music fan MUST have this incredible books as a part of their library. And, for the record, my favorite song by The Sherman Brothers is "On the Front Porch," from woefully peculiar film, "Summer Magic," featuring Hayley Mills.
Every Disney fan and Sherman Brothers fan needs to read and own this book! Presented in a scrapbook format, this book is filled with so many stories and behind-the-scenes of the Sherman Brothers' work, both Disney and non-Disney. There is also a lot about their father's work as well as their work that never got released! Even as a self-professed Disney historian, there was a lot in here that I didn't know about!
Completely in-depth view of the Sherman Brothers lives from children listening to their father’s compositions to successful adults at the height of their career. Beautiful scrapbook coffee table book style. A treasured part of my collection. Disney fans will love it for the peek behind the scenes and music lovers will find it illuminating for a peek into the process. Eternally grateful that this book came to be
Scrapbook of music and family history from the Sherman brothers, who have written a disturbing number of Disney's best-known songs (including, regrettably, "It's a Small World"). Fun to look at, with some good insights into the Shermans' and Walt Disney's creative processes.
