What do you do when you make a stupid deal with a sleazy Angel in a moment of panic? Xandra is about to find out. But first, she has to tell Kallen what she did and he is not going to be happy about it, to say the least. In this sixth addition to the Witch Fairy series, Xandra finds out that just because they're all called Angels doesn't mean that they all act like Angels.
2. My children. (Please don’t tell my kids I listed fans before them. You may cause a riot in my home. They’re pretty feisty kids.)
3. My cats and dogs when they’re not making me sniffle, sneeze, rub my eyes or irritating my asthma. (Scratch that, they always do and I love them anyway.)
4. Writing. (I would have listed this first, but it would have looked bad. Worse than putting fans before my kids.)
5. Good friends. (Fortunately, I have several.)
6. Quiet evenings at home in front of the fireplace reading a good book. (Please, like that’s going to happen with five kids in the house - but I can dream can’t I?)
7. I got stuck here so I asked a couple of friends to tell me their fondest memory of me. This is what I got:
Deb: It was when you used to babysit Michael and rode the horse in Meijer so he could ride with you. Also......my first trip to TX for a wedding. You were at my house and said you would put my clothes in the dryer when they were done. Needless to say, the next morning I had to pack wet clothes in my suitcase. The airline lost my luggage for 4 days so when I finally got it back, my clothes were all mildewed. (Okay, in my defense – I was twelve at the time. The sad thing is, I still forget to put clothes in the dryer.)
Michele: I have too many…but one of the first that popped in my head was how you drove all the way to Chicago to look at my apartment for me because I was too hung over, and then gave me all the details so I could pretend I was there. You are a good friend... (It was only a seven hour round trip. What are friends for?)
Joe: A particular Domino’s pizza delivery and you invited the delivery guy inside…(I’m going to stop there because my ex-husband thinks he’s funny.)
For obvious reasons, I didn’t ask anyone else.
Hates:
1. Puppies, kittens, babies, sunshine, peace on earth, goodwill, recycling, education, gifts, and sweets of any kind. (Really, I do.)
2. Being facetious. (I would never dream of it!)
3. People who don’t read my books. (Well, maybe not all of them. But, most of them.)
4. People who always manage to stop by the house when I look terrible. (You know who you are…)
5. Lumberjacks. (Don’t know why, just do.)
Now that you know everything about me, you should drop by my Facebook page to tell me all about you.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! I agree with one of the other readers, Raziel is awesome. I am glad things were worked out between Kallen and her Highness, (lol). It kind of makes me sad that there wasn't a trial of her and the archangel. I mean the description of him, made me want one myself...although I love Kallen, he just seemed more...
Loved all the different places she had to travel to attain the angels. Especially the one to the merepople. Xandra was channeling Kallen's jealousy, lol.
I LOVED this book. If I could rate it 6 stars, I would! I have to agree with everyone else...I LOVE Raziel. Pretty sure I like him more than Kallen. The more I get to know about Kallen, the more I don't like him. His over the top jealousy, the talk about wanting Xandra to pretty much change who she is, and his insecurity. He is kind of coming off as a little bit annoying. Don't get me wrong, I know he really loves her but Raziel is mature, kind, and loves Xandra too. You can tell he doesn't want her to change AT ALL which is why I think I am in love with him. He was willing to sacrifice HIS love for her so she could be happy. I can't see Kallen doing that for her.
Anyway...I am excited about her angel magic and I can't want to see more of it!
Pure entertainment at its best, I read this book in one day and stayed up till 1am to finish it. I just love Xandra, her sense of humor and sarcastic nature really appeals to me. There is still the matter of the right hand fasting to be dealt with if only Kallen could remember it and trying to convince all her family that they are old enough to make the commitment. Angels are meddling and some tough choices must be made. Lots more magic and mayhem and the action starts from page one so you are engaged from the beginning. All my favourites are back with some new characters as well and I look forward to the next book in the series, thanks Bonnie for a great read.
Oh I just love this series! It is so entertaining, and I love seeing what Xandra will do next. I am glad to see she is finally maturing a little (I think) and yea, her and Kallen are together! Loved the new angel, Raziel, even though we didn't learn too much about him, but I hope he has another part in the future.
Bonnie you did it again! AMAZING! Took twists and turns I never expected! Cannot wait to read more of this series! I finished it in one day, it was that good! :)
Oh how I love Bonnie Lamer and her Witch Fairy series. This is a YA paranormal romance read but is relatable to older audiences as well. Lamer surprises me with each and every book I've read thus far and Blood of Destiny isn't any different.
A brief background for those of you who haven't read or heard of this series: Xandra, a witch-fairy-angel who thinks she's a human, meets and falls in love with Kallen, a feisty, prudent, sexy fairy sent to keep Xandra alive. Oh and he falls in love with her too. :) They are constantly battling to keep Xandra and her loved ones safe from evil family members, giants, nymphs, mermaids, spirits and any other bizarre creature you can imagine. The creatures she meets are quite certainly not what you would expect from their fairytale origin, but instead have a creepy maturity to them that helps lead the story and keeps readers engaged.
Each book in this series is uniquely fresh. The reader is able to explore these unknown realms and powers with Xandra. Specifically, this last installment was written beautifully. I was captivated from page one through the final scene and can't WAIT until Witch Fairy #7. Release date please Ms. Lamer?!
This book starts off after Xandra makes a deal with an Angel...granting him two favors that she has to complete or she'll lose her wings. We aren't quite sure why Xandra is given these specific tasks to complete until they are revealed end of the book, but her journey is, as always, tornado-like in nature. Xandra also finally finds her familiar-form...which I will not ruin for you...but I literally laughed out loud during this scene to which my dogs woke up and gave me a bizarre sideways "huh?" stare.
The editing and connection of thoughts throughout this novel were potent and impressive. I never felt disjointed from the progress of the story or Xandra, which allowed me to become emotionally attached to her, even with her irritating whininess (it's endearing, trust me!). But that was the biggest downfall for me. Granted, X is only 17, but after all of the craziness she's been through, I just assumed that maturity would begin to shape some of her thoughts and reactions (and apparently, so did Kallen). I love that she is head strong, fiery, and rash, and don't want her to change too much, I just think that allowing her a little bit more maturity before she and Kallen get married is pretty essential. Also, each book seems to be getting shorter and shorter. I hope that the next one is a little longer and keeps me occupied for more than 3 hours. :) (approx. 198 pages).
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and think that you should read it - NOW! :) Or ar least start at the beginning of the series.
Overall the book was quite amazing. I was pleased where it went and I'm glad she finally was released by the angels, so she could use her angel powers. Now she has all three. I was saddened for Raziel, he proved himself to be fearless and full of love and compassion. To be strong enough to let the love of your life go and change her particular destiny, is stern stuff. It was an amazing read and one of the best installments in the series. I can't wait for the next.
This review is for books till Book #8. Recommendation? Stop reading at Book#7.5
I've a different review posted for Book#8. But from 1-7, this series is just awesome.
Xandra is coming of age and learns a whole new world and about herself. She deals with many challenges and comes off as any teenager - a bit confused, a bit arrogant, chastened by elders and at times rebellious.
Kallen is the character that shines in this series. He is powerful but his power is easily overshadowed by the more powerful Xandra. Yet he never lets that affect his ego or his relationship with Xandra. He manages to come off as the more mature, in-charge person. The intimate scenes between the duo are at the same time passionate and tender.
There is a lot of "wow-gorgeous" falling-for-looks-mainly thing happening but the way the characters are depicted takes away the sting of it.
Overall - the series till Book 7.5, has a natural easy flow of stories without awkward pauses or WTF moments. Totally recommend!
It's fun. What can I say? :) The story is getting more and more exciting... Sadly, not so much for poor Xandra, who can't catch a break, or a nap for that matter. For the readers, it's just fun, quick paced, and really gets you hooked. I laugh at her internal thoughts, as sometimes they remind me of my own (even though I'm a bit older than Xandra and should perhaps know better by now? lol). Oh well! Identifiable characters and a fun story. oh, and a sexy Faerie... That's always important too! ;) I won't even mention too much about Angels, as that might have some spoilers. Read it and marvel at the crazy stunts that Xandra gets up to this time... only problem is: too short!!!
I bought this book when it first came out. Why did it take me so long to read it? Very easy, fast story that sucks you into the book, and you dont want to put it down!
The only thing that bugged me (I had to keep reminding myself taht Xandra is only 17) is that Xandra can be very whiny? Also, grammer and typos dont usually bug me but this book seemed to have alot.
I enjoyed this book almost as much as the others, I do like the introspection that Xandra did in this book. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed the series it would be nice if the books had some form of conclusion to them. The constant continuation of drama is starting to feel a little bit like a soap opera.
This book was another awesome and intriguing story that just continues to build. The fact that Xandra. and Kallen have done some growing up in this story just elevates the excitement even more. I'm looking.forward to the next book !
wow lot of things spelled out about Xandar. Now she knows were her heart is going she is happy to have Kallen. sure hope they get a day off sometime soon.
