Does a cup of coffee or an energy drink typically start your day? While that may wake you up physically, what are you doing each day to wake up spiritually? How do you find time in your busy, hectic schedule to focus on truth from God's word?
The Daily Devotional Series is designed provide each day with a quick and simple devotional that can be read in less than 5 minutes. However, it focuses on one truth from the Bible that a person can take with them, think about, and apply all day long. Each devotional includes the verse from the Bible, a truth from that verse, and a response to pray back to God.
The Daily Devotional Series: The Gospel of John gives readers a brief introduction into using The Daily Devotional Series, a synopsis of the Gospel of John, and then twenty-one brief devotionals that cover each of the twenty-one chapters in the Gospel.
Enjoy taking one devotional a day as you work your way through the Gospel of John as part of the Daily Devotional Series and "wake up" to God's truths from His word.
I suppose I could only give this one 3.5 stars, because each day's devotional focus is so short. I think that's an advantage for readers who want something really quick, but I think I like a longer reading for my devotionals. Thus, I was a mite disappointed. I do have to say that the Gospel of John cannot fail to inspire believers with the majesty and power of the deity of Jesus, and his profound love for everyone. John called himself "the disciple whom Jesus loved." That man was so tapped into the love that Jesus has for us that the Romans couldn't even kill him when they tried boiling him in oil. That's a lesson for every believer to learn right there. So I was thrilled to get a copy of this devotional for free on Amazon Kindle. I have been specifically meditating on God's love for me (right believing leads to right living), and I already feel it has changed my life profoundly. John's gospel is required reading for believers who are on the same path for that reason stated above. I loved the prayers at the end of each devotion, and they definitely packed a punch for their short length.
So even though I didn't give this one a higher rating, I still feel it is a very worthwhile daily journal for less than a month of study.
I enjoyed this simple devotional. Each day had readings from each of the chapters of John's Gospel, and then a focus verse. The author then explained how we might relate the verse to our lives today, and then offered us a 'response' to what the Lord is asking of us in the verse.
The Daily Devotional Series: The Gospel of John is an easy to use study guide that goes hand in hand with the study of the Gospel of John. It is a short, one page per chapter devotional that concentrates on an individual verse in each chapter in John. I found it to be an easy study guide to use as is very user friendly and each chapter ends with prayer. This would be a perfect book to use in Sunday school classes. While the study guide doesn't go into each chapter of John in detail, it instead, concentrates on a single verse and gives a very helpful translation of the verse.
This book is easy to read and provide a scripture each day and an application that is thought provoking for your day. I recommend this book for both scholars and lay people alike.
Reiterated the believers role in our willingness to not only listen but our responsibility to read and meditate upon God's word. We must keep the communication lines open.
Disappointing in the extreme. The introduction says that each chapter will focus on one chapter of the book of John and discover the truths there. I had expected the author to fully examine each chapter in the book of John; instead, the author chooses only one verse from each chapter and makes a very small comment about a truth in that verse without taking into consideration the surrounding verses and circumstances John wrote. The author also make a small "response" which is a small prayer in which she takes her interpretation of the truth she finds in one verse and applies it to herself. I am not saying this is wrong or bad. What I am saying is that it falls very short as a devotional in really truly reading the book of John (in its entirety) to discover the real meat, if you will, in the book of John. By reading only one verse, we are left with a totally incomplete understanding not only of John and his experiences with Jesus, but a total lack of discovering all the truths of which John wrote. This is not a devotional to me at all. I am not learning any new or outstanding truths by reading one short truth. A devotional that takes all of thirty seconds to read and pray is no devotional at all. It's more of a "There; I did my duty, now I can get on with my day and not feel guilty for not spending time with God." This is not at all what God wants from us and with us. As in all of our relationships, God wants our TIME! When we get together with a friend for lunch or a cup of coffee, do we say one sentence and be on our way? No! We spend TIME with our friends: talking with each other, confiding in each other, laughing with one another, crying on a shoulder, squeezing a hand - being a friend. THIS is what God wants. He wants to talk with us, confide Hid truths with us, laugh in our joy from Him, hold us while we cry with Him, hold our hands all day - He wants us first and foremost to come together with Him not for a short, hurried, little prayer in the morning, but to be our first Friend and Confidante throughout ALL the day! A thirty second reading and prayer does not a relationship make; nor does it bring us any closer to God or Heaven. In this "devotional " book, will reading one verse, finding one truth, and reading one small prayer not only bring you closer to our Lord but also make us ponder that truth throughout each day? I don't think so. Relationships take TIME. When Judgement Day comes, we will be held accountable not only for our actions, but also for our TIME! I am strongly and highly disappointed with this devotional book, and would certainly NOT recommend it to anybody who truly wants a deep and meaningful relationship with Christ.
I can hardly believe it has been 21 days since I picked out this devotional. Twenty one chapters, twenty one days. I love how the author gave this verse fir each days devotional, her reflection in it, and then a brief prayer. Do not get me wrong, the entire bible is sacred - it IS God's Word. However, I do not think anyone, especially believers can deny the power of the Gospel of John. It paints a beautiful and clear picture of Christs' love for us, His undying love , forgiveness, and huge sacrifice. Realizing that some may never love Him back, He choose to suffer and sacrifice for us - that IS love. I recommend thus devotional to anyone, especially if you enjoy the Gospel of John.
This was too short. I wish it was longer. I wish it answered my questions, about the BIBLE verses but I get that it is only a devotional but not a long enough devotional to buy this book. Thankfully it was FREE.
I enjoyed each entry. I would like to see more knowing this was not all of the gospel of John. seems kindle books are not all complete and can leave one hanging. daily devotionals should be everyday not just for a few days.
I was taught a valuable lesson with book...there much to learn in bible study...but taking in small measures can reveal the depth the bible...highly recommend this study aid...Give God the glory!
This little devotional book, made a great companion while reading the Gospels of John. It gives one a chance to contemplate on certain verses as one reads along. Thank you.
This book offered me an easy way to be with God in a few minutes meditation. I would recommend it especially to those on the go. Otherwise, I would have preferred longer meditation.
I really liked this devotional because it was quick, easy to read and it was deep. I like a daily devotional that makes me think and keeps me thinking throughout the day!
This devotional book is very short... not in depth enough in my opinion. It is basically a verse and a very quick, short comment about it. Not enough information
