What better gift for a new baby? The creator of I Kissed the Baby! celebrates animal moms and babies in an irresistible novelty book.
A giraffe kiss is very tall — just turn the page and see! Elephant kisses are long, of course, while tiny mice and bubbly fish have kisses all their own. Using a clever split-page format that makes for charming surprises, author-illustrator Mary Murphy shares a series of animal kisses that are sure to have babies and toddlers gurgling, giggling, smiling, and leaning over for their kisses, too.
Children's author and illustrator Mary Murphy enchants even the youngest of readers with her bold style, combining eye-catching graphics and a bouncy text that seemingly jump off the pages.
Mary Murphy has an advanced diploma in Visual Communications and has written and illustrated a number of children's books, including her lift-the-flap, pull-the-tab book about friendship, ROXIE AND BO TOGETHER. In addition to creating children's books, she teaches illustration. The author-illustrator lives in Galway, Ireland.
So cute!!! Very simple but utterly engaging little book showing how different animal parents and babies kiss. The lift-the-flap idea to show how they kiss ("Like This") is one that will surely be a winner with little ones and the illustrations are adorable and feature a fun variety of animals.
Oi cheesy. But I believe that says Baby Storytime all over it. I'm so used to getting my kids to be interactive with the book. Now I have to think how to get the parents to interact with their kids. In this, it should seem simple. Should. Do I focus more on the animal sounds and descriptions, or just have them kiss their baby? Hmm. Thinking on this.
This has been a favourite ever since Kai was 6 weeks old. I would lie down next to him, holding the book above both our faces and read aloud. He would stare at the pages and gurgle and generally be an adorable little munchkin. He's brought it back out of his bookshelf and it's a favourite afternoon read and reread. Best of all - free kisses for mummy!
A nice picture book with flaps to display the different kisses. My favorite lift the flaps have something that is either a surprise or something one can guess beneath the flap. This book has neither. Still, it is a cute book with bright illustrations and nice kisses between a variety of animal parents and their babies.
A sweet book for very young children, it's not Valentine's-specific, but works well for the holiday. Half pages turn to show animals before and during their cute kisses. It would work well for story time, except that I don't want the toddlers to start kissing each other. XD
Typical Mary Murphy style: bright, vivid illustrations and very simple text revolving around animals. This is perfect for toddler story time and definitely usable for baby story time, too.
This was adorable. I loved the flaps and the animal kisses. Right from the get go with the giraffes I just loved it. The illustrations were great. The concept was great. Cute ending.
This is a sweet book, and my daughter, even though she's already four loves any lift the flap books. I personally like the Goodnight Book Murphy has but this one is a great Valentine's Day book.

The concept or the story is swwet, the illustrations are adorable, and children will enjoy the flaps in this book. Sadly, this book is a huge disappointment due to one single oversight; the author missed the chance to include onomatopoeia as a part of the storyline. If she would have done so, this book would have been marvelous!
