A sequel to his previous novel Tulasi Dalam where a 11-year-old girl is rescued by her father and friends from the clutches of an evil creature Kashmora and death of Kaadra, the sequel shows the grown up girl Tulasi and the belief as to how Kashmora gets reactivated with more powers after 11 years and how this time the girl will most certainly die.
First time I am reading a book in horror + thriller genre and it was not a let down. On hearing good reviews on thulasi dhalam I got interest in talking this book. The starting of the book was really a great horror experience but the same thing could not be sustained in the later phases was a bit of let down.
The books starts in full pace, but goes too sluggish in middle with too many characters introduced and kind of unnecessary travel in between. In the middle one feels if the story writer has lost his plot, but towards the later half of the book writer catches up with great story and awesome narration + narrating style. On the whole we could feel that lesser importance could have been given for sub plots and main plot could have been explained a bit more adding some more details and horror experience to it (Skilled powerful character of tharkka not completely utilized).
Giving scientific reason to different black magics was some thing different. All killing methods were strange and lot of chemical though attached to it makes it more terrifying than horror. Explanation given to conjurer's different activities and the final letter by the conjurer where he questions normal people of universe was a great whip to some of my beliefs and thoughts - a great applause to the author for this imagination and narration.
If you have not read any book in horror or black magic, if you are believer of black magic or a opposer - this book is for you so go for it, all will have their own take aways. A very good book and I would recommend it.
Read this book 3-4 years after reading the first book. Found it hard to remember the characters initially, but picked up after a while. What I like about these books is the blend in science and superstitions. The way the author has explained the situations in both superstitious terms and scientific terms is excellent!! Worth one read.
A compelled sequel to Thulasi Thalam, provoking various emotions. Even though first half was dragging building backstories, the second half took pace revealing the sense of morality in each characters.
Tulasi is a sequel to TulasiDalam, and like the latter, it is a must-read for fans of thrillers and psychological fiction. It combines elements of black magic and scientific facts with gripping storytelling, making it both an entertaining and thought-provoking novel.
A continuation to Tulasi Dalam and this Time the Girl is Grown-up and the Evil master has a sincere disciple and the characters are all full believers of Supernatural/paranormal forces. Though not as wonderful as Tulasi dalam (may be because the paid of a Child causes much powerful impact on the readers than the pain of a grownup lady), the book still makes for a must read and has all the required elements to make it a worth successor.
IT is not good as the first part but the author tries to take the story in a more scientific manner which is as exciting as it gets. The characterisation is not properly done and the sudden change of heart by the villain seems so cinematic as it is presented. The book is a good read till the last page but the impact on it's reader's doesn't last long enough.
It's a great book. Spooks enough to keep you glued to the story. The way things were revealed and explained, I would say, Yandamoori Veerendranath is the best author of crime/thriller/fantasy in Telugu.
But whoever reads Tulasi Dalam can never disagree that this book is the 2nd best of Yandamoori's writings.
