Joseph C. Morecraft III (Th.D., Whitefield Theological Seminary) is the founding pastor of Chalcedon Presbyterian Church in Cumming, Georgia, where he has ministered for over 36 years. The author of How God Wants Us to Worship Him and With Liberty and Justice For All: Christian Politics Made Simple, Dr. Morecraft is a popular conference speaker and guest lecturer on political, historical, and theological issues. He and his wife Becky reside in Canton, Georgia.

Este é um livro que eu gostaria que todo homem e toda mulher lessem, especialmente os cristãos. O autor lança as bases fundamentalmente bíblicas para lidarmos com a política. Vamos nos livrar, irmãos, do ateísmo político e arregaçar as mangas para trabalhar em prol do reino de Cristo, INCLUSIVE na política.

Um governo civil não é (nem poderia) ser religiosamente neutro. O governo não deve ser odiado pelos cristãos, como alguns liberais o fazem. Ele foi instituído por Deus para louvar os bons e punir os maus. Não existe dicotomia entre moralidade e política. Teocracia não é o Estado submetido à Igreja, mas uma nação onde a lei revelada de Deus é suprema sobre todas as leis humanas e é a fonte delas. A 'marca da besta' é, na verdade, entregar-se a outra lei ou ordem que não a da bíblia. Tributação humana é idolatria. Cultura é religião externalizada. Cultura não inclui a religião, mas é reflexo e efeito desta. A fonte da lei numa sociedade é o deus dessa sociedade. A neutralidade religiosa na política é um princípio subversivo, revolucionário e anticristão. A separação entre igreja e estado é funcional e institucional - não são antítese um do outro. Uma nação abençoada por Deus não é uma democracia, ou seja, uma nação governada pela maioria.

Simple, short and instructive. Basically an exposition of Romans 13 with some additional topical chapters at the end. Joseph Morecraft is a gifted teacher who has a way of making sense of complex matters, and he has done a great job here. It is written from an American Republican perspective and that comes through strongly, but he bases that on the Hebrew Republic, and his book is tailored to the United States as a once great Christian nation. Some of his insights (being from 1991) are quite relevant thirty years later (2021)!

Pastor Joe Morecraft presents in this book the duty and obligation of all Christians to uphold the Kingship of Christ over all nations. I would recommend this book to anyone beginning the study of Christ's office as King or the biblical role of government.

Comprehensive, biblical, and powerful. Discovering Morecraft was one of the best finds of this year for me. I would not hesitate to recommend this book. Morecraft does not read as unhinged but maintains a consistent and measured tone throughout.

For Christians seeking to understand what America should look like from a Christian perspective, this is definitely a good introductory book. I found myself enlightened at many of the concepts and realized that maybe my political worldview needed to be more in line with my Christian worldview. I enjoy reading books like this because it was certainly a pleasant surprise to be presented with fresh concepts.
