Don't let the police tape on the cover fool you - this is not a police procedural novel (whew, cause that's not my thing). This is a psychological thriller, and the author's debut novel. I find it hard to believe that it's the author's debut novel because it's SO good, and SO well written, it feels like he's been writing for so long it just comes naturally to him now.

Anyway, this book!! I did not predict a single thing, and that's rare for me. There was a lot going on, but it wasn't confusing AT ALL, and my mind kept trying to piece everything together, but to no avail. And as most book-lovers do, I love books about books/authors/the writing & publishing process.

The only reason this isn't a 5-star, is because I had a few unanswered questions left by the end of the book (or maybe I missed something, who knows.). For instance, where was Addy during the first 2 years of her life, and how did she get there? Where was Addy born? How did Owen find her and bring her to her family? Why did Robin even leave London, why not just move to another town? Moving to a whole other continent on the other side of the world doesn't seem possible for her, at that age. Also, my kids stopped calling me "Mommy" when they were about 6ish years old maybe? Addy seems too old to be calling her parents "mommy" and "daddy".

**Vague minor spoilers ahead, maybe?**
Also there were a few errors. Such as, babies aren't born with brown eyes. (All babies are born with blue eyes.) My daughter has gorgeous brown eyes, and when she was born they were a very very very dark blue, and then slowly changed, but I definitely didn't see brown eyes when she was born! Also on the baby topic, lots of babies are born with black hair which falls out, and then re-grows a different colour. My daughter's best friend is very blonde, but had black hair when she was born. So that wouldn't really point to any kind of paternity. And "lupus" doesn't need to be capitalized, though I did enjoy that brief reference, because lupus is awful.

**Definite spoilers ahead**
Also, for a character as smart as Addy, I don't think she'd keep a diary confessing everything. But I see how it was a way for the reader to find out what was going on in Addy's mind.

You’ve done it again Mark Jenkins! I absolutely loved this book. How is it possible to don’t have more books. I was getting to the end of this book to see what book of yours I could add to my list.

If you like Freida McFadden books, then you will enjoy this one. It is full of twists and turns just like hers are.

I honestly would’ve rated it a little higher, but sometimes I felt like maybe there was a twist that was unnecessary and almost at moments just too much going on.

This was a wild one! Lots of crazy twists... Not sure if I'm on board with the big final twist but overall enjoyed this one. Short chapters and fast paced!

Nina was once a best selling author and is currently struggling with finishing her newest book. Her marriage may be falling apart and she’s busy being a stay at home mom to her two kids. But soon people around her start dying one by one and Nina wonders if she’ll be next…

This is the author’s first book and I can’t imagine how hard it is to write a book.. I know I couldn’t do it so I want to be as kind as possible while also being honest.

The start of the book caught my interest pretty quick but then it got very slow and dragged on… it wasn’t until 54% into the book that the first person finally died. Personally, I just do not like books that take that long for something to happen. I get bored way too easily.

With that being said… I did really like the ending and the last 20% of the book. It was not your typical ending and it really did piece everything together. Realistically I’d probably give this book a 3.5 if I could.

Thank you to Netgalley and Mark Jenkins for this free eARC!

This book was sent to me by the author Mark Jenkins and I’m so appreciative because this was a ton of fun. I would describe this as messy rich people thriller who all deserve each other and I mean that in the best way!

The main plot of this book is about Nina Travers who was a best selling author who’s sort of taken a time out of writing to raise her family. When he publicist hires her a nanny so she can start working on her next best selling book, some one starts taking out other authors on the best sellers list to help Nina stay on top. In the midst of all of these murders, there’s drama at ever turn for all the characters in this book! I loved all the twists… so many bombs got dropped that I didn’t see coming and the end??? Yeah… that was the biggest surprise of them all!

Thank you Mark for allowing me to read your book! It was a lot of fun and I’m thankful to have read it!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I saw this book recommended by Freida McFadden in her fan group on Facebook. I figured if one of my favorite authors thought this was a good book, that was enough for me to give it a try. I am glad that I did!
Nina is a psychological thriller author that is struggling to get her next book written. Her agent, Margo, dropped all of her other clients to only focus on Nina and Nina's mother, Wills (also an author). Margo is stressed out because she put all her eggs in one basket and she currently isn't receiving any progress from Nina on her new book. One by one, Margo's ex clients begin dropping dead by what seems to be accidental circumstances, but are things really what they seem?
I loved all the background drama as well as all the twists! I did not see most of them coming and I am usually pretty good at guessing. I also liked how the ending kind of left you wondering what was going to happen next. Overall, a good read and I would absolutely recommend this book to all those that love a thriller.

Absolutely amazing

Wow, this book was loaded with so many questions that you wanted answered, and yet the author continued to make you believe the answers were right in front of your eyes. They weren’t.
A very clever and compelling story of family life struggles, of being the best of the best, and how lies can change the direction of your life, if you let them.
I was hooked by the storyline straight away and the ending has been thoroughly thought about and was surprisingly good.
Well done Mark Jenkins

Thank you NetGalley the Author for this ARC. All I can say is WOW!!! This book had so many twist, turns, secrets and so many lies. This is the Authors debut novel. If he writes like this all the time it won't be my last. It follows a family of 4 with 2 young children one Biological one adopted. One child is Normal one has some issues. Every time I turned around there was another twist. But the ending was outstanding. I never expected the twist and boy was it a big one. I so recommend this book when it comes out.

Wow, this was SO GOOD. Once I got into this I could not put it down. The SUSPENSE was so impressive, even something as simple as thanksgiving dinner felt suspenseful. I loved that we had our main event, so to speak, but there were also these other hidden secrets in the background that just created that perfect suspense all throughout the book. (I wonder how many times I can use the word suspense in this review- but honestly that’s what this was and I mean that in the best way possible)

Nina’s life seems to be chaos, she’s a best selling author who’s quickly losing her spot on that list. She still has her support system though; her husband, her children, her mother, her best friend, and her agent. And one of them will do anything to see that she’s back on top of the bestseller list and a few others seem to be keeping some secrets that will only hurt Nina. Reading how all this unfolds is thrilling and entertaining and one hell of a plot twist.

The writing in this blew me away, especially for it being a debut novel, I absolutely cannot wait to see what Mark Jenkins writes next. I highly recommend everyone pick up a copy of this ASAP.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Mark Jenkins, NetGalley for allowing me this chance to read the ARC of “ With One Stone.”
All I can say is WoW as I sit here trying to process what I just read! This was such a phenomenal read and once I started I couldn’t put it down. This book had so many twists, turns, and soooo many lies I had no idea what was going to happen.
This is a psychological thriller about an author Nina Travers who was once on the tops of the charts along with her mom Willa. With her agent riding her for a new release and she feels out of the game. Will she make it back to the top? What will it take ? Murder?

This was a really fast paced read and the characters were well written and memorable. It feels like you know all of them. I’m surprised this is the authors first book and will be waiting for Marks next novel. Hopefully sooner than later !
Due to be published May 20th , 2023 everyone must read this !!!!!!

With One Stone by Mark Jenkins is a psychological thriller about an author of psychological thrillers. Nina is an author once at the top of the charts, but she has fallen down due to some personal tragedies including her marriage which is not doing great. She has a lot of pressure to deliver her next book. Nina has a lot of people around her, including her two children, her husband, her mother, her agent, and her best friend. All of them love her and want her to get back to the top of the charts. One of them will do anything to see that happen. Suddenly, there are a series of deaths and Nina is worried that she is to blame.

I really enjoyed the fast pace of this book and the multiple twists and turns. There are a lot of characters and perspectives in this book and the author does a great job of making sure that each character is memorable and that it is easy to remember what each characters relationship is to Nina.

It is hard to believe this is the author’s first book. It is well written, suspenseful, and thrilling. This book comes out on May 20th, 2023 and I highly recommend it. I will be looking forward to Mark Jenkins next novel. Thank you to NetGalley and Mark Jenkins for this ARC!

What a great debut! Thank you Netgalley and Mark Jenkins for the ARC of this psychological thriller! I loved every page!

Nina Travers is a best selling author that is on a downward spiral to the bottom. Tragedy seems to surround Nina. So much loss. So many twists that I didn’t expect. Is Nina going to be the next one that ends up dead, did she cause the deaths of the people around her? I couldn’t wait to get to the next page to find out more. I loved the characters and how their lives were weaved together. I had a lot of different theories as I went along but I was so wrong!

“I’d love to hang around and see the aftermath, but my work is finished. I loosen myself from the stunned crowd and as I walk away from the mess, the shrieks fade. And I can’t help but think: it is done. She is gone. I am a hero. I succeeded at something once again. They say your first kill is the hardest. They were wrong.”

The story started great. The only problem with this one is that it went slow and dragging in the middle. I want those to end.

Next, who did it? Okay I was not expecting this one, and i was not paying attention.
Great build up on the characters and that one twist I didn’t see coming! Seriously?

Lastly, the ending was brilliant! It will leave you guessing on what’s gonna happen to them. I love the touch of drama on this.

Overall, it was a fun experience reading this author’s debut novel and I’m sure to be picking his next.

Thank you to the author and the publisher for approving me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

With One Stone. My fellow readers, this is another brilliant book that lives up to its title. Kelly, Owen and Jack. WTH?! Addy, what lovely role models that you have.
I absolutely had enough of Nina. Put your big girl underwear on and become Rosie the Riveter and toughen up minx! The games that are playing around on you are definitely not out to win stupid prizes. Readers this book had some twist that had my eyes doing a double blink. Why you ask? It’s that you simply could not believe what I read.
Darn this book is good. It took me a moment to get through the first couple of chapters in the book. I believe that the writer used this method to slowly build the characters and their interesting flaws. Flaws may I add that pulled me in like a bee to honey or is that a bear to honey? Whichever.
So, again Nina had me grip my tablet yell, “ Child! Wake up.”. Evil is knocking at your door and you have not one protectant against it. Is it because Nina had some delicious secrets herself? I don’t know readers. Their are characters in this book that I found that are splendidly written for this most interesting psychological/ thriller. I loved every moment of it.
I give this book two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

With One Stone is a thriller with solid bones—full of intrigue and twists I genuinely never saw coming. It’s a very compelling read in that sense, constantly keeping you guessing and second-guessing your assumptions.

The story follows Nina Tavers, a high-profile author who has hit a creative slump. Her family’s extravagant lifestyle depends on her ability to keep producing bestselling books, but as she struggles to find inspiration, something far more sinister unfolds: rival authors competing for the top spot begin turning up dead.

While the plot was sharp and unpredictable—I truly couldn’t guess the killer—the characters were another story entirely. Every single one of them was thoroughly unlikeable, and I found it hard to relate to or root for anyone. That said, the mystery itself was strong enough to keep me engaged until the very end.

Overall, this earns a solid 4 stars from me. One star docked purely for the sheer number of despicable characters—but if you enjoy twisty, well-plotted thrillers that keep you guessing, this one delivers.

Thank you NetGalley & Mark Jenkins for the advanced reading copy!

Nina Travers has written 5 bestsellers but is having a hard time writing number 6. Everyone thinks the solution is to hire a nanny to help with her children, Addy and Noah. Her mother, a bestselling author herself, totally agrees as does her agent Margo and Nina’s husband, Jack.
Secrets and lies. Secrets and lies. Between Nina and Jack. Between Jack and Kelly, Nina’s best friend. Between Jack and Owen, Kelly’s husband. Between Margo and everyone. Between Robin, the nanny, and everyone.
Not to mention the dead bodies that are piling up around Nina.
This book sucked me in from the very beginning – what a wild ride with a you-would-never-guess ending!
I can’t wait to read more books from Mark Jenkins!

Mark Jenkins has hit it out of the park with his debut psychological thriller, With One Stone. Nina Travers, a popular author who has hit a rough patch and has lots going on in the world around her. Struggling to keep her “best seller” status and manage her family life, things seem to spiral out of control. Mysterious deaths, knocking out the other best sellers in her genre, build up to the ultimate question, whodunit? I thoroughly enjoyed the chapters that left me wondering whose perspective we were seeing. The character development was carefully executed. After several twists and turns, I thought I had it all figured out, but boy was I wrong! I hope Mark has more up his sleeve - he has made my favorite author list! A MUST read for fans of Freida McFadden and the like.

Wow, I'm not sure what to say! The book was really good and I enjoyed reading it. I felt it compared with other authors' books such as Freida McFadden. I really enjoyed this one and thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this ARC (Advanced Reader's Copy).
The book had many sub plots happening throughout and it never got boring. It is a psychological thriller and it is this author's debut novel. It is really surprising that as a debut novel that it was this good, because yes it really was good. I feel like there could be a Book 2 to this to continue where this one left off.
I highly recommend this book, it is well worth the read. Congratulations to Mark Jenkins for a job well done. Let me know if Book 2 is in the works. 5 Stars!

Excellent debut novel

This is a debut psychological thriller novel about a psychological thriller writer. A very clever concept that will keep you engaged until the last page. Nina is down on her luck. She was riding high at the top of the charts until some personal tragedies ruined her success. Those around her want her back at the top, and one of them will go to all lengths to ensure it happens. Full of twists and turns, lies and deceit, this book with have you guessing! It’s well-written, and the characters are well-fleshed out. I can’t wait to read more from this talented author.

What lengths will one go to ensure the success and happiness of those we love? This unknown individual will stop at nothing. Woah this book was a whirlwind. Shocking to say the least. Clever how just about everything came together. I took off one star because this book was long- really long. Some details feeling less important now that I’ve read the whole thing. This was a very fun book, the twists were great and I went back and forth of who the killer was. It did take a little for me to get into to, don’t know if it was slow or it was just me but once it started rolling, I was hooked. It was a little hard at times to figure out which person the chapter was focusing on. I really loved how the title of the book was brought it. This may be Mark Jenkins’ first books but I will definitely read more of his.

Nina Travers is a top selling author of 5 books, but lately she has been experiencing writers block for her 6th book and is going through a bit of a rough time in her life with a troubling marriage, balancing and raising two young children and then finding the time to write. Suddenly other top selling authors that she knows of start dying, including someone very near and dear to her heart. The real question is, is Nina the one who is knocking them off one by one?

I enjoyed the first half on this book but felt that it was a bit slow to start and took me a little longer to get into than usual. I personally feel that there was a lot of unnecessary chapters that made the book drag on and much longer than it needed to be. It was also hard to follow at times as it jumped between the characters POVs.
I did however enjoy the style of writing and the ending of the book was fantastic. It could not have ended any better. I was not expecting that at all and I really love when the name of the book suddenly makes so much more sense. Mark tied that coming together very well in the end.

Overall, this was a good read with exactly what you are expecting - plot twists and times where you are left wondering “what the heck is going on!!?”

Thank you Netgalley and Mark Jenkins for giving me the opportunity to read this E arc. And thank you to Frieda McFadden for recommending this book. I would happily read another by this author.

Unquestionably one of the best Debut Psychological Thrillers I’ve ever read!
“With One Stone” fires up with a malevolent first chapter that baits you hook, line, and sinker.
As the story proceeds you’re in a frenzy trying to figure out where it's leading, and mind wrecked with all the twist.
It ends with an explosive WTF? Just happened?
When you read this book you will know he's unequivocally destined to write.
Mark Jenkins is a force to be reckoned with and is going to be bringing some heated competition to world of thriller genre.

WOWWW. this is by no means a literary masterpiece…. but it IS like a lifetime movie and it is WILD

i was able to guess a few of the “twists” but that’s more a reflection on me bc i’ve just read way too many thrillers not on the author & there were still lots of moments that had me sitting in SHOCK - extremely fast paced and kept the tension high the entire time i was flying through it
