Children of the Bard #2

From the Mouth of Elijah

Rate this book
In From the Mouth of Elijah, Lauren and Billy set out on a journey to find Bonnie, hoping Lauren’s gifted hearing can track down Bonnie’s never-ending song. At the same time, Walter and Ashley search for clues to cure a mysterious disease that threatens to kill the original anthrozils, including Jared, who was once the great Clefspeare.

Both journeys are fraught with peril as Lauren and Matt are thrust into Second Eden, where a volcano, Mount Elijah, has erupted and devastated the land, killing many of the residents. Matt uses his gifts of healing to save some of the victims, and when he finds Bonnie, he engages in another life-or-death battle with Tamiel’s forces in an attempt to free her.

In the meantime, Lauren learns that she is the only person who believes the cure to be possible, so she begins a search for it. Along the way, she gains an unusual companion who prepares her for a heart-wrenching decision. Her choice is simple: Sacrifice her own life or let the anthrozils die.

From the fiery devastation of an erupting volcano to bullet-riddled battlefields to madcap dashes through one portal after another . . . sacrificial love once more leads the way. Lauren’s journey is particularly poignant in this book, but the entire cast of heroes demonstrate incredible faith too.

And it’s fun to see Matt and Lauren become more accustomed to their heritage, preparing them for the crazy adventures of the next two books. ;)

You must read this book series! From the Mouth of Elijah is a masterful continuation in this remarkable series. With wonderful inspiring Characters that I've loved since Dragons in our Midst, as well as new inspiring characters that are quickly taking a special place in my heart. Follow Billy, Bonnie, Matt, and Lauren on a heart wrenching journey. With Bonnie suffering, growing corruption on Earth, Earth trying to wage war on the innocent people of Second Eden, and a Disease that threatens to kill the original Anthrozils, there is never a dull moment. Mount Elijah has erupted and destroyed most of Second Eden leaving many residents of Second Eden dead or injured. Matt quickly puts his healing abilities to good use on some of the wounded victims. Meanwhile Billy and Lauren are on a search for Bonnie, with the help of Lauren's super hearing she is able to follow her mother's song. Ashley and Walter race to find a cure for the disease, as well as search for missing comrades. Lauren quickly finds a cure, but she learns that someone must give their life for the Anthrozils to survive. Will she go through with her trial by fire? Find out. You don't want to miss this!

Oh my gosh!! I must stop these late night reading cry fests! Here I was all geared up for Laurens death,(and the subsequent SOBBING.) but instead I'm here bawling over Eagle's sacrificial death where he saved Lauren. And then you find out he's really Derrick reborn!! And that he wanted to marry Lauren and make her his Eve!😭😭😭 and then.....😭😭😭😩😩😩

The plus side is Walter is still amazing(and alive) and now he has leveled up in Walterness! He is still my fav so far.

And I'm sorry this review is more me processing my emotions after I've finished the book. No one I know has read these yet, and it's just so good!!!😭😩😁

I enjoyed this one more than "Song of the Ovulum", but I'm still trying to appreciate the "new" characters. The plot was more engaging in this volume and I think it will continue to be engaging in the rest of the series. I look forward to reading the next book. I would recommend "Children of the Bard" to fans of Bryan Davis who have read both the "Oracles of Fire" and "Dragons in Our Midst" series. (Like Christian fantasy and sci-fi? Amazing, action-packed, and edge-of-your-seat awesome. I really like Lauren and Matt, even though they're kind of different from their parents, which I guess is a good thing. Still, it's really weird to think of everyone from the Dragons and Oracles series as all grown up!
Anyway, loved this book!

This book is AWESOME! I loved how the old characters are mixed in with new ones to make an amazing combination that makes this book one of the best I've read. "From the Mouth of Elijah" grows your faith as it grows Lauren's in the story... It really paints a picture of how we are to live for God; give everything to him, including your life.

All of the books were wonderful. I can't think of any authors that are better but one that is equally well written.
