This is the story if how four-year-old Bobby Maitland vanished in Hyde Park from under the very eyes of his nurse. Efforts to trace him were unavailing. Shortly afterwards two men were found dead in a locked room in an inn in Hampshire. A jury returned a verdict of murder and suicide. The daughter of the man said to be the murderer refused to believe her father's guilt. She endured thrilling perils, but with the aid of Jimmie Haswell unmasked a mystery of strange and startling character and the connexion between the two crimes is revealed.
