Destiny One, opens with a visit to a clairvoyant by the main character, Suzanne. The reader is then taken 22 years ahead when a prediction comes true, but we don’t know to whom it refers. The years in between are fraught with drama. Suzanne is married to Van, who works away at sea. She runs a hotel in an English seaside town. Her life is turned upside down when a guest books in, making her realise her life is not all it could be. If you've ever been tempted to have an affair, read this book first. It is written with a rare insight and will make you think twice. The emotional turmoil Suzanne’s actions cause is raw and changes everyone’s life around her.
I had high hopes for this book as the opening chapter intrigued me. Yet I was disappointed. I felt no connection to any character and got very aggravated with the indecisions. The ending had no link to the beginning and left of a cliff hanger. I am aware that this is to make the reader want to read the next book, but I feel there should have been some link between the two.
