Welcome to Bluestone #3

Leaving Bluestone

Rate this book
Quinn Alden is leaving Bluestone. As soon as he can get someone to buy the bar he bought with his Army buddy, the one who didn’t come home, he’s heading for someplace where the fishing is as good, but the winters aren’t so miserable. This was never his dream, the lake, the bar, the girl...

Lily Prater is the heart of Bluestone. As the owner of the landing where people dock their boats, rent a launch or a cabin, she has a lot invested in the town. She’s fighting hard to save her town, hit hard by the recession. Her mind is always spinning with ideas, ideas she can usually get Quinn to help her carry out.

They work together on the summer celebrations, the outdoor movies, the winter carnival, the tension growing between them.

But it takes leaving Bluestone for him to see her as more than his best friend’s girl, and make him wonder if leaving Bluestone for good is what he wants at all...

The Bluestone series is an excellent read. The characters are believable and realistic. I felt as if I knew them and cared about what happened to them. As in real life, some were lovable, some were not, and one or two I wanted to yell at and shake. When I get that "involved" emotionally with a book's characters, i know this is, for me, a good read. I also felt the small town of Bluestone, MN, was well drawn and fit both the storyline and the characters.

The only thing that annoyed me was the change of the baby's name. Linda's son was Jonas in the first two books, and then was referred to as Jonah in Leaving Bluestone. . I don,t know how proofreaders/ editors miss this sort of thing or how authors don't remember their characters' names.

I'm so glad to read Quinn and Lily's story. I liked the way opposites attract--he can't wait to leave town and she's so much a part of Bluestone. He doesn't get along with his family, but her family is very loving and close.

The scenes at the hospital and funeral were very real to me. This was a great story with lots of conflict and emotion.

In the final book of the series, we finally get to Lily and Quinn's story - two supporting characters from the two previous stories! You'll love how their differences actually compliment each other as the perfect match. Lily just needs to convince Quinn of that! I loved this final book and am kind of said to leave this town and its people! I highly recommend every book in this series as well as this talented author! She has a fan for life!

Leaving Bluestone is book 3 in the Welcome to Bluestone series by M.J. Fredrick. It takes place in the little town of Bluestone, Minnesota. They have great fishing and hiking in the area. It was a great book. Usually a third book in a series rather drags; but this one doesn’t.
Quinn Alden came back to Bluestone after the death of his buddy, Gerry. He left the service and came back to Bluestone to run the bar and grill he and Gerry bought. He feels guilty for living when Gerry didn’t and he felt guilty for being attracted to Gerry’s girlfriend, Lily Prater. He says he is selling the bar and grill and leaving Bluestone. Will he? He is estranged from his own family who live in Kansas.
Lily Prater is the heart of Bluestone. She has the ideas and energy to carry them out. She wants things to be similar to what they were when she was a girl growing up here. She owns the Landing and rents cabins and takes people out on fishing tours. When she has an idea, she somehow manages to get Quinn involved. She is in love with Quinn but he can’t see her romantically, only at Gerry’s girl and buddies don’t encroach.
Can she help Quinn when he has to go back to Kansas when his father is ill? Can she keep Quinn in Bluestone?

3.5 bumped to 4 on the charm of Bluestone. As in the previous books, the characters are completely likable and believable. There's no super high drama, but it's realistic. A quick and fun read.

Lily is determined to put Bluestone on the map. Literally making it a top spot for tourists. Bluestone has been slowly dying and she determined not to let that happen. Quinn is sucked in on every last one of her schemes to put Bluestone on the map, much to his chagrin. Secretly he loves every minute of it. Then again, maybe it isn't such a big secret. The interactions between these two is comical and "awww" inspiring. Once again, you get to catch up on all the previous characters from the first two books. This is just one big happy family.

Quinn is a disgruntled bar owner. He is trying to sell his bar. Lily owns cabins and does boat trips. She is the heart and soul of Bluestone. She and Quinn are total opposites. She is into family and friends. He doesn't get along with his family and needs time alone. There is funeral scene that is so real. Eventually the story ends in a pleasing way.
I liked this series.

Leaving Bluestone

I hated to see this incredible series end. Quinn was charming and I just loved him and Lily. Of the three books this one was my favorite. I found myself crying as Quinn went to see his sick father. My heart hurt for him with the way he grew up. I'm happy he was able to make peace with them. I found it hard to like his family but I really loved Lily's family.

I loved all three books in the series. This was a great finish to the series - I hated for it to end and to have to say good-bye to these new 'friends'. I'd love to see more stories come out of Bluestone (Linda, Dale, David).
