I was given the priviledge to read this short story by Rue Volley. I have since bought one to support the hard work of the author. Nobody does erotica like Rue, she has her own brand of making you want more. I say Bring it On Rue!

Wow! What a thrilling, dynamic, steamy read! Rue Volley manages to sweep me off my feet into a world of old vampires, hot steamy sex, determined detectives, and fetishes. With a cliffhanging ending that has me wanting more.
Kaylen and Sebastian will take you on a journey from New York to Romania on an investigation into mysterious deaths. With unexpected mysteriously suspenseful twists and turns, tasteful sex scenes, and a storyline that will leave you wanting more. I love it!
I would recommend this short to all the steamy, vampire readers out there.

Make sure you have cold water for your shower when you read another masterpiece of Rue Volley’s books. Kaylen and Sebastian are investigators with the force. They are investigating a murder and Kaylen has found an odd coin near the crime scene. Knowing that her mother is in tune with art, they take the coin to her and leave it with her. Kaylen has a dream and the coin is all of a sudden in her possession. When she is awaken by a knock on her door a note is left for her to be at a particular location so Sebastian goes with her. They are now looking for clues to a new crime. At some point, they are taken to Elizabeth, a vampire. Can they escape before they become lunch or are introduced to a whole new world?

Hi y'all Anne here with my review for One Bite by Rue Volley. Let me start by saying no one and I mean no one does erotica like Rue!!! She paints such vivid scenes of lust, power, and deceit that you are compelled to keep reading. Now to the story, Kaylen is investigating a string of murders the hits insanely close to home when an inquiry causes someone she loves to be dispatched in a gruesome and horrid act of power play. The vampire is trying to make a point to Kaylen and almost succeeds until Kaylen's curiosity gets the better of her. When an unknown helper shows up and points her in not only the right direction but also shows her a life style she never knew she needed or wanted. Sometimes mixing business and pleasure can be fun for all. After falling carelessly into a scenario full of secreted lust and pleasure Kaylen and her partner Sebastin share a journey that will leave the reader blushing and breathless. The scenes painted in this series want for nothing, the underlying story will have the reader flipping pages and at the same time expose them to a world of hushed fetishes and hard core scenes of lust and submission. In the end Kaylen will fall into a world of blood and lies only to reveal in herself a strength she never knew she had and desires she had laid dormant for far to long. 5 out of 5 stars for One Bite by Rue Volley and I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment of this series.

Beautifully written from start to finish, One Bite certainly sinks it's teeth into you. A fantastic story about love and vampires from Rue Volley. I couldn't stop reading it once I started, an unusual statement from a man not into erotica. Rue Volley has a way with words that tantalizes and enchants.

The Review
Well she has only gone and done it again, there is no end to this woman's talent, I absolutely adored this story, I can relate to Kaylen, not being a vamp that is, I wish, no just the parent problem, I thought how they became vamps was really quite sweet, well how Kaylen did anyway, Sebastian not so much. Loved the killer sex scenes, especially the first one, I thought woah this read could be really bizarre but it wasn't there was a great storyline, they are chasing a serial killer, as detectives, but things soon change, for the better I thought.
I thought the first sex scene between Kaylen and Sebastian in the club was extremely well written, Rue sure does know how to write about Sex, There was a killer kicking ending, I cannot wait for Book 2, Two Bites, I am off to read it now, I would highly recommend this one, infact I have already, my neighbour is getting it, woo hoo, a great big 6 out of 5,

One Bite, the twist starts in the beginning of not the character the reader figures to be the attacker, of being the vampire, instead it was the ancient one. the descriptive tone and the additional of the curse of the family, the detectives, female with visions and the mysterious coin all so much more adds up to a thrilling read so far. The story is fast paced with the possible reincarnation of the ancient one. The story flows as the strange coin appears at the investigator's door at 3:33 am in the morning, and she knows something is not right.

She discovers the gruesome murder of someone close to her as she is called in on the case. Kaylan is involved in a wicked investigation and will be confronted with many dark secrets. She has to be a professional and do an investigation on her executed loved one, and the pain is indescribable but she is determined to catch the murderer of her sweet loved one and unravelled the mysteries of the strange executions that have plagued the investigators' territory.

Ah, the mystery thickens and the two investigators are taken hostages and Sebastian is placed in a tricky position by the ancient one? Will he be able to escape in time and rescue Kaylan or will he be forever to become the walking dead? And Kaylan, will she be saved by her knight in shining armour or will she too become the walking dead? This story is definitely chilling, haunting and suspenseful with a twinge of lust and blood fill conflicts top with mysteries.

This story is brief, lustful, descriptive, and gritty but definitely an entertaining read.

This is the first book I have read by Rue Volley and have to say “WOW”. I have read some shorts here and there by Rue but this is the first full story and I am very impressed. The beginning of One Bite caught me totally off guard. As I started the story I was expecting one thing to happen to the helpless female character and did I get the surprise of my life when what I thought would happen didn’t and the story took a different twist. No helpless females in this story. Rue’s female characters are strong and independent. I liked the twist of the vampire theme and loved where the story went.
There is murder, vampires and steamy hot sex in this one and a story line that is full of surprises. Now I can’t wait to read the next one, which is Two Bites. I am now hooked. If you like vamps, hot sex and a plot that is not typical you have to get One Bite and believe me you will want the next ones as well.

One Bite is the first book in the series. Erotica isn't my usual genre, but this book had a great storyline and kept me interested.

Kaylen is a homicide detective and has seen just about everything, until her and her partner Sebastin end up on some bazaar death and sex cases. Kaylen finds a clue on the scene of the last case they start working up. She follows her unusual hunch and decides to learn all she can about it.
Her curiously my have caused her to bite off more than she and her partner can chew.

A great erotic vampire read that is meant for an adult audience only. It has lots of sexual content and language, which goes hand in hand with the genre and storyline. I am glad I went out of my comfort zone and gave the book a try. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and more work by this author.

This book is not for YA. This is an ADULT book. That being said, I started this book not really knowing what it was about and let me say Rue Volley writes great graphic details. She has writing Erotica down. As soon as I started reading she left me wanting more, and of course reading Erotica and vampires all in one book makes for a great read.

In this steamy novella you follow the journey that Kaylen and Sebastian will take you on. To where they are investigating a string of murders, you will be taken from New York to Romania. Sex will be thrown in somewhere in between. After reading this I suggest you take a nice cold shower or something else because this book is STEAMY! The story line was well written, and the suspense builds up at times. Can not wait to read book 2 in this series.

Kaylen and Sebastian have been partners on the force for 3 years and a string of sexually explicit murders see's them delve into strange waters starting at a Fetish club. Their true desires are revealed and so are the existence of vampires.

As with most novella's it gets straight to the point (no pun intended). Kaylen and Sebastian have an easy relationship relying on each other with him being the only person knowing about her "gift". Very fast paced with breath catching erotic scenes.
The dialogue is a little formal and could use some abbreviation but that may be more to my personal preference.
Can't wait to read number 2!

This is a high pasted murder mystery. It is pretty raunchy. Lots of just sex for the fact of having sex. Starts with a prostitute getting thrown out of a car after after a job. Another guy pulls her into the alley and they start to get down to it. She turns on him, kills him then still has sex with him. Now she kills him because she is also a vampire. Hence the murder! You have 2 cops that are trailing her. The story was good but it could have had much more detail in it. It took me just a couple hours to read the entire thing. Great for a quick easy read!

One Bite is my first Rue Volley book/novella.. Do I own a few yes.. I just hadnt gotten around to them.. Now ive bumped them up on my list.. Of course Rue Volley is a force in the indie world and I soooo get why.. The novella is short sure.. but somehow she managed to pack in vampires.. mystery.. intrigue and some rather steamy sexy bits.. admittedly im just beginning to start reading the erotica genre.. with just a few book which happen to be novella under my boots.. I can honestly say this one is leaning the pack for my favorite.. I really cant wait to read the next 2 books in the series..

I was a little shocked by One Bite. Being new to the "erotica" world I thought it had a good story, but couldn't quite get passed certain sex scenes, especially in the beginning.. that was..wow! Also it felt like she bounced around without finishing a thought. Though I must say I did think the scene in the fetish club was quite hot! With that being said I do like the story and
I am a little curious as to what happens to Sebastian, Kaylen and Elizabeth. So I will be reading book 2 :)

I had heard a lot about this author from my best friend and decided to give her a try. While the story line is great and who doesn't love sex scenes with vampires?, there is still something missing. Maybe it's just too short for a short story, she's trying to say so much in a short amount of time thing. Either way, I will be reading the second book because of course, I need to know what happens next!

yet another good job by rue volley. however, there was a bit that confused me, when the author put "she" but there were two women in the room, was confusing to figure out which one. i loved how the characters built up. both human and vampire as well as their bond.
i loved the twist at the end and am dying to know what happens next.
advice for the author instead of saying she, maybe say girl with the...and a description as to know which ones which

There's nothing better than Vampires! At least for me.. One bite gave me just that vampires and a steamy ride..
Kaylen & Sebastian are investigating a strange murder. This leads the partners to a night of passion, lust & ecstasy. The morning after they wake with more questions then answer and no where near home.
This is a quick read. But make no mistake you will want more. Rue makes sure of that.

This book was great but it is really just a chapter of a book not an independant short story or even a book of a series. Think breaking it up this way is just a marketing ploy - or maybe a way of making more money out of a book. Makes it a bit disappointing to think of it that way as I have totally loved her other series.

I LOVED the twist at the end with Kaylen's mum, I thought that was excellent, I really can't wait to see what comes next for Kaylen.

Maybe I have an early version of this book, but I don't see why everyone's so ga-ga over it. It's a basic vampire premise with 2 detectives trying to find a killer. There were too many spelling and grammatical errors in the book for me to really enjoy it.

Maybe the next book will be better...
