I stumbled upon this book by accident, and, honestly, I bought it because it was only 99 cents. I figured that it would be an entertaing read, but nothing more.

Boy, am I happy that my assumtions were so wrong! This book was great! The sexual tension and chemistry of Lucas and Mia just sizzled, and when they finally acted on it...smokin' hot!

This book was fairly short, but I loved every word of it. I would recommend it to anyone who likes their reading material on the steamy side. As for me, I am now going to scour Amazon for other titles by this author to add to my to-read shelf.

I loved Mia and Lucas!
Mia is a well to do house wife stuck in a marriage of convenience on both parts. She's not UN happy but she's not happy either. She just kind of floats through life with no real passion or purpose except to be the perfect hostess for her husbands many business associates and prospective business associates. Lucas is the leader of the local Vampire clan. All powerful, feared and respected by all in his clan. To him, humans are for food and fun. Nothing more. Which is why his sudden infatuation with his future business partners very human wife is baffling to say the least. When rival Vampires break into Mia's house in search of Lucas and put Mia and her husband through a night of blood and terror, Lucas realizes that this may not be a simple infatuation. I love how strong Mia was with all that she endured and how she finally overcame her fears in order to for once in her life, have something that she wanted for herself. I will be reading the next book.

ARGUH, detailed sexual torture- not my idea of entertainment. WTH ?!?!?! Who wants to read about somebody in fear, filled with tears while somebody gets off on it ? He stuck a knife in her "( @ ) " to see how far it would go before she bleed ?!?!?!? Once again WTH ? DISGUSTING

I don't usually read vampire stories, but this one came highly recommended. I'm glad it did. The erotica is well crafted, and the characters reactions are vivid. Two distinct sides depict the vampire nature. Mia is such a sweet little woman. Or is she? No spoilers from me, but let's just say that Mia undergoes a transformation during the story. The antagonists, Blair and Louisa, illustrate the darker aspects of their vampire culture. Lucas, the male protagonist, is definitely an alpha male, and Mia finds him irresistible. Mia needs Lucas for more than one reason, and Lucas is strangely attracted to Mia even though she is "Only Human."
There are scenes of incredibly sadistic BDSM, as well as, passionate yet tender encounters. This book moves a good pace, with excellent descriptions of the characters, locales, and action within the story. Throughout the book, I thought I had the ending nailed; I was soooo wrong! There is a unique plot twist near the end of this book that sets it apart from others in its genre. The book is well crafted, and long enough to be a stand-alone novel, however, I'm hoping for a sequel.
As I often do, I recommend this book to any but the Grammar Nazis. Have I mentioned that I hate them? Perhaps their egos make them feel that they are so important a misspelled or misplaced word is too distracting for their finely honed minds. As with the first editions of many well-known, and or, historically famous authors, there are a few mistakes. None of them, and I do mean None of them, kept me from reading on to continue enjoying the action in this book!
I give this book four stars for well-crafted, vivid scenes, hot steamy erotica, and the fifth star for the plot twist at the end!

As a genre, erotica has been around a long time. Although over the years the setting and superficial form may have changed, its purpose remains the same: to titivate the reader.

Amatory vampires are the classification’s latest pin-up children. They come with the added advantage that, being non-realistic beings and therefore free of the inherent limitations of the human body, they allow for more extreme forms of sexual encounter.

This perverse potential is certainly fully explored in ‘Mia’.

In one particularly wayward section of the book, a female vampire is subjected to the most horrendous acts of carnal degradation that decidedly no female human could survive. The pages of the novel are, as one would expect, awash with blood, viscera and enough predator semen to fill a large bucket.

But for all this gore, the cross-species romance at the heart of Anne James’ story has a touching and old-fashioned feel to it. The eponymous hero is a handsome Byronic type, the heroine a plucky little soul and the villain an irredeemable sadist – in this case also endowed (if you will permit the pun) with superhuman powers. James works hard to breathe life into the love interest and, in spite of the rising body-count and tsunami of plasma, pulls it off.

The non-violent sex scenes – which of necessity sit at the heart of this kind of work – are well handled, and the link passages between them show a writer striving to produce a genuine narrative trajectory.

It is obvious that Anne James has the writing skill to produce a more auspicious romance than ‘Mia’. I for one should like to see it.

Mia and Richard didn't marry for love, they married for convenience. They threw a get together because Richard wanted Lucas's business . Richard was a lawyer. When Mia met Lucas she couldn't keep her eyes or mind off him, neither could the other ladies at the party. Mai and Lucas felt drawn to each other, but didn't know why. Lucas is a vampire. When he leaves the party he thinks he feels other vampires in his territory. Lucas runs a nice respectable territory. He follows his instincts and turns back toward Mia's feeling something is very wrong, but can't figure why vampires would want anything to do with Mia or Richard. When he gets there he jumps through the bedroom window because the vampires were having their way with Mia. Blair is one of the most disrespectful, mean vampires around. He and his female vampire are having their way with Mia. Richard is already dead, so Lucas rushes at the vampires and tries to fight them off, they escape. He's a very strong vampire but he knew he had to save Mia. He cuts his wrist and has Mia drink his blood because she lost so much. He can't figure out why he was saving a human and letting her drink from him. He knew he felt drawn to her, but this. Lucas must find Blair and get rid of him, for his clans sake and Mia's. Buy this book and find out what happens. Will Mia live the life of vampires or stay human. Anne James writes a great story. Well written, the chapters flow right into each other. I would read another book by this author any day.

Mia never quite hit the mark for me, all though pleasant moments in between made me momentarily forget that my overall feeling was of letdown. Of course this is vampire erotica, and should I expect something more? Yes, because I liked Anne James' writing and with a little more patients and care this could have been a very good romance.

In the beginning I felt that Ms. James' was pulling from the erotica life form '50 Shades' has created. I can't say for sure because I don't know which came first but still, we have a male lead who is a true dominant. I had a hard time liking Lucas and understanding why Mia was so drawn to him. Even if her husband wasn't the most loving partner, his body is barely cold when she begins falling hard and fast for our "hero". Lucas leaves a lot to be desired at the start of this story. He is rude, demanding, and quite frankly as jackass. In spite of that Ana still tingles for him, in those traditional human loves and vampire kind of ways.

Despite all that I would still suggest giving Mia a read. The writing is solid, the heat is positive and you are able to overlook the many things that might drive you batty for the sake of finishing the story. This book is clearly written to get wives feeling the spark and for it's success I must give it a solid three stars.

Let's start out with yes. Yes this is a Vampire Romance Erotica. The next word is No. No, this is not a vampire lore data dump. The story centers on a human woman who is causing the leader of a local vampire clan to change his habits of fourteen hundred years. He is enchanted by his longing for her. A wandering loner vampire is trying to move in and take over the clan. Causing some trouble this would be usurper really has no idea how mismatched and delusional his plan is as he comes off as a toddler trying to swat at a gorilla.

The editing had a few flubs usually having to do with sentence tense control mixing past and present. I was able to wade through this and enjoy the story. Scenes between Lucas and Mia are extremely hot as are the scenes with Blair and Louisa. The later delve into sadism which puts my recommendation for this book at above age 17. Four out of five is where I see this. Enjoy!

MIa is just what it claims to be, a vampire erotica. Mia is a strong willed protagonist who is easy to like. Lucas is every bit as powerful and sexy as you would want him to be. The uncharacteristic vulnerableness he shows Mia endears him to the reader. There is no lack of steamy sex between them. The bad guy, Blair, is truly evil and this is made abundantly clear by his cruel domination of the women around him. When he was around the book often read like a cautionary tale of sadism and misogyny. I didn't care for this, but that is more of a personal preference than an indictment of the book.

My only real complaints are the frequent tense changes and that Mia and Lucas have an instant, almost visceral reaction to each-other that sets in motion the events of the book. But you never really find out why. Similarly Mia has a fairly drastic change of opinion at the end of the story with no identifiable instigator. Despite this I would still suggest giving it a read.

I don't normally read vampire books, never read a word of Twilight, but if those books are even half as compelling as this story was, I may give them a try. Mia and Lucas are wonderful, pure magic. The different worlds they live in, human and vampire, are not all that different upon closer look. Two lonely souls meet and learn to love, however there is a lot of darkness and pain along the way. The secondary characters in this book are strong and well developed, I would look forward to hearing more about Eleanor, Joseph, Thomas and others in the Bradshaw clan. Note, there are some very graphic and explicit scenes of sadistic, psychotic behavior using tools of BDSM, not for the faint of heart.

While i liked the world the author created and the plot of the story, the writing (or should i say grammar) let it down. i feel that once the book was complete the author went through it with the spell and grammar check and just clicked ok to everything without checking through it. i had to push through the first few chapters praying that it would get better. i never give up on a book and leave it unfinished but i was very close with this book, which is a shame as i think the author really has something here but really needs to address the grammar problems and fix the sentences were extra words have appeared, or words are missed that cause the sentence not make any sense at all.
i gave this book 3 stars but if it wasn't for the bad grammar it would have had more.

I had not read a modern vampire story until this one. I discovered as well as being plentiful, they have moved on quite a bit from the early stories. However, they still enjoy blood and sex in equal proportions. It has a very interesting storyline much diferent from what I expected. The vampires, are like humans and have their own characters in this book, they are not all as one like zombies. Lots of gore and sex accompany this enjoyable scary tale.

I couldn't finish this. The awkward dialogue, stunted writing and switches in tense were too much for me. Add to that the sadism and other bizarre relationships, and there just wasn't anything to keep me reading.
