Six-Pack of Blood

Rate this book
Now and then "something" touches a person's life that they can't explain, something so bizarre and outside the norm that it's unbelievable. "Six-Pack of Blood", by award-winning authors Betty Dravis and Barbara Watkins, is a collection of six short, malevolent stories about this unholy interaction of the mundane and The World Beyond. Be sure to lock your doors and leave the lights on before reading these bloodcurdling, terrifying tales of revenge, lust, murder, cannibalism, witchcraft and more. Who in the world is safe when such benign things as snow domes, teen dancing, a Caribbean cruise, an innocent Sunday outing, a girl's doll and a love affair turn deadly? Blood is everywhere...

"Six-Pack of Blood" received Zodiac Entertainment's (New Zealand filmmakers) "Best Paranormal/Horror" Award.

Terrific Tales of Terror!

If you want to be frightened out of your comfort zone and totally taken on a thrill ride riddled with ghoulish and haunting stories, full of blood curdling surprise twist and turns, then "Six Pack of Blood" is the compilation of short stories for you. Each story has its own theme; whether it is karma paying back a hit man, paranormal experiences with an evil town, a doll that has special powers, or characters seeking eternal youth, the reader is left twisting in the wind until the surprise endings. The writers have cleverly used their vivid imaginations in conjuring up the six short stories in" Six Pack of Blood, while also offering up the poignant and tragic characters to the readers on a silver platter.

The renowned Betty Dravis, beloved, award winning, and amazingly talented writer, adroitly delivers her short stories, with a nail biting sense of suspense, keeping the reader hanging by a thread until the end. What a thrilling experience!

As a lover of the horror genre I am always on the lookout for a great story and Six - Pack of Blood does not disappoint. Betty Dravis and Barbara Watkins have come together to create a wonderful collection of short stories and have blended both of their styles of writing very well in the process. I always love it when I can begin reading a book and finish it in one sitting and this one was definitely a page turner. Reading more work from both of these authors is a must in my opinion. I am eager to see what they come up with next.

When I started this book, I had visions of staying up half the night to finish. It really IS only 6 short stories. They are some of the most sick, twisted short stories I've ever read, however, so even though I finished by 9:30, I may still be up half of the night! Yes, some of the endings are predictable, from a seasoned horror-readers perspective, but that doesn't make them any less creepy-as-hell! I didn't see the ending coming, in the Collector...that one totally threw me. Heavy Metal, I am going to share with my kids...heh heh! Momma told you so! VO, I expected the ending, yet it was still awful! Passageway To Hell was disturbing and wonderful, even though you just KNEW what her son was going to do! Like every great horror movie, when you just KNOW that the stupid bimbo is going to go see what made the strange noise in the basement....it's still terrifying on a primal level! Spirits of a Jester... Let me just say that the porcelain dolls, in the guest room at my parents house, are going to find a new place to sleep tonight! And Deadly Addictions... Never ever ever call a girl fat to her face ... Not if you want to live.

Tales from the Crypt was perhaps one of my favorite television programs, lining up with the likes of Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and Outer Limits. I love to be scared. One of my favorite memories was listening to bone-chilling tales around a campfire and feeling the goosebumps and the sense of something very scary hovering around. I was terrified of the book "The Amityville Horror" and spent a few sleepless nights after reading it. Betty Dravis and Barbara Watkins are superb in the horror genre. I loved the short-story format, but I couldn't read just one. Each tale was more horrifying than it's predecessor and demanded to be read and experienced. This is true horror fiction at it's best. Bring a sweater because the goosebumps will chill you to the bone! I cannot wait to read this book again and again. Please, please, give us more!

What better authors to pen a review for than the dynamic duo Betty Dravis and Barbara Watkins.

My review comes with a WARNING - "Six-Pack of Blood" is such a well penned page turner you will not want to stop reading until you've finished every last word. So be prepared to lock your doors, turn off the phone and curl up with this awesome damn scary collection....oh, and DO leave your lights on, or you could find yourself taking sleeping pills to get to sleep on subsequent nights..lol.(evil grin) Its a pity good old Alfred Hitchcock is dead now, God rest his Soul, because he would have had a field day with your stories. He used to scare the pants off me when I was young, and if someone half as good as Alfred produced and presented yours then hell, I'd need sleeping pills..ha.

I grew up loving the scary comic books that made me see grasping hands in the shadows on my wall. I loved campfire stories to give me shivers and the revival of old radio stories thrilled and terrified me. This is not a very far reach then to find myself loving these stories. They are well written and fit the genre in a predictable way. There is none of the Slasher gore of modern horror movies and in some ways these stories are tame compared to adult horror, but they are safe and yet shivery in a way that is a lot of fun. I would suggest these stories for a Halloween party or a scouting camping trip.

When you want to get your mind off the problems of the day, Authors Betty Dravies and Barbara Watkins have the stories to make you forget all your worries. Together, they have written several short, scary tales. They are full of dark overtones and are captivating; just perfect to read in bed on a cold, dark, rainy night. I especially liked "Deadly Addictions" about a wife scorned. Sometimes the wife can outsmart the husband at his game. These stories remind me of the old-time radio shows that I never missed on Saturday nights when I was growing up. You'll enjoy these tales, also!

Betty Dravis and Barbara Watkins put together a terrorizing group of short stories with each being scarier than the one before. As I read each story, before going to sleep (not a good idea) my heart was racing and I found myself holding my breath waiting for the climax of each story. Both authors are skilled in the art of creating suspense, taking the reader to the precipice, and dropping the finale, leaving the reader breathless and wanting more. If you love scary stories I highly recommend this collection of short stories. I give it 5 STARS and 2 THUMBS UP. Fantastic job, ladies.

“Six-Pack of Blood” is a collection of short stories with a variety of horror elements that I found entertaining as well as horrifying. Fortunately, I didn’t drop my kindle! These are great stories for anyone that either likes the horror genre, or for a takeaway change that won’t keep you up at night (for very long, anyway). Each story is distinct, well-written, and all-around fun! Horror and non-horror fans, give it a try! Five stars!

I thought this was an excellent collection of short stories. They were quick and to the point, and actually had a little chill to them once you finished. I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of these on the small screen, as was done with Stephen King's "Nightmares and Dreamscapes." I would definitely read it again, and would recommend it to anyone who wants a little creepy-crawly feeling during the night. =)

What a delightful and deliciously shivery set of stories!

Each is very different from the other, but each, in its own way, touches on the bizarre, macabre, or even gruesome. The characters are compelling and well-drawn. Perhaps the reason they fascinate is because they somehow represent the dark side in each of us. With these stories, we can snicker and sneer, enjoying vicariously the wicked things we'd never have the nerve to do on our own.

Entertaining little collection of horror stories that you'd find in an assortment of great horror story magazines a few years back (e.g. Cemetery Dance, The Horror Show, etc.) Read these pretty much in one sitting. These certainly were not Bram Stoker Award material, but not bad nonetheless.

So far my favorite has been V.O. Quite an amazing thought provoking story. All of them are in fact and I thoroughly enjoyed them. If you need some short reads this collection is perfect.
