I honestly did not know what to expect when I bought I Am Number Four: The Lost Files by Pittacus Lore. Six and Nine's background stories but I think the addition of The Fallen Legacies was a game changer. Anyway, the book focuses more on Six and Nine plus Adamus/ Adam a Mog with a heart.

Okay, so let's start with Six's story. I love the fact that she was actually one of the characters given her own novella. I like the fact that they gave her a back story that could explain why she is the way she is. Don't get me wrong, I love her and everything and the fact that she's such a kick ass character gave her plus points for me but can you honestly tell me that you're not even the least bit curious as to why she's such a bad-ass woman? I highly doubt that. Anyway, my heart broke when I finished her part.

Then there's the story of Nine. I actually love Nine's character even if he seems to be bit more eccentric compared to Four. It's nice to know that he actually has a background story and that he's not just someone written so that the "Nine Gardes" would be complete. His story is actually quite sad if you ask me.

And lastly, The Fallen Legacies is probably the real surprise for me. I wasn't really expecting it to be told in the perspective of a Mogadorian. I actually thought it would be told in the perspectives of One, Two and Three but anyway the addition actually surprised me a bit. I didn't even know that it was possible for a Mog to have a heart but Adam surely had one. His narration actually made me understand the Mogs a little bit. But it doesn't necessarily mean that I support their cause. But I think Adam's perspective is a refreshing addition to the Lorien Legacies.

Overall, I enjoyed reading The Lost Files. It was action packed and heartbreaking and I think it is an excellent read for fans of both Six and Nine. It's also nice to know that these characters have so much more depth and emotion.

I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Legacies is an omnibus containing the 3 novellas in the series so far (Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy and The Fallen Legacies). I really was excited when they released this omnibus because I didn't want to shell out $3.99 for each novella. The Legacies is an excellent companion to the Lorien Legacies because it helped me understand Number Six, Number Nine and Mogadorians better.

For those of you who haven't read I Am Number Four or seen the awesome movie with Alex Pettyfer, I'll give you a bit of info. A planet called Lorien was destroyed by an evil species of aliens called Mogadorians (Mogs) and Lorien's few survivors have fled to Earth. The survivors of Lorien have powers called legacies and are called Garde. A charm was cast so that the Garde could only be killed in order as long as they stay apart. That was enough info dumping for one review!

Six's Legacy was an interesting novella because Six is one of my favorite characters in the series. We find out alot more about who Six is and how her past affected her. Six is just of one of those characters that is so kick ass that you can't help but like her. Six's Legacy was a really intense and action packed novella that I really enjoyed. It was really interesting to see how different Six's personality was in Six's Legacy compared to in I Am Number Four. Six's Legacy made me realize why I love Number Six so much and I really hope she is a major part of book 4.

Nine's Legacy was as action-packed and emotional as Six's Legacy. I didn't enjoy Nine's Legacy as much as Six's Legacy because frankly Six is a more interesting protagonist. Nine's back story was an intense story that told of Nine's journey before Rise of Nine and it was a pretty remarkable story. I really didn't like Maddy at all and I couldn't feel sorry for her no matter what. Nine wasn't as cold and arrogant in this novella like he was in Rise of Nine and I definitely liked #9 in this novella.

The Fallen Legacies is definitely the most thought-provoking of all 3 novellas. The Fallen Legacies is told from the point of view of a young Mogadorian. Our protagonist of The Fallen Legacies is a young Mogadorian who starts to question everything he has been taught. This novella was my favorite of the three because it was very diverse from the other novels and we were introduced to Numbers 1, 2, and 3. #1 was definitely a fascinating character and I hope somehow she makes an appearance in future novels.

As a whole, The Legacies was a very entertaining and informative read. I really enjoyed how we learned of Six and Nine's backstory which helped the reader understand both characters better. As I expected Lore wrote 3 fast paced novellas that really were engaging. If you have read any of the books in the Lorien Legacies series I recommend you pick up this omnibus. If you haven't read I Am Number Four I suggest that you read it!

ITS ACTUALLY THE FRIST #3 BOOKS IN THE "Lorien Legacies: The Lost Files Series " There are 7 books in the (Lorien Legacies: The Lost Files Series ) but only the first 3 have been made into an audio book (total 7:55) Which audio book I am reviewing here

I like Nine pretty well, but I don’t like his cocky attitude. I hate how they torture Sandor and try to get Nine to blab and tell them what he knows. I hate how Nine has to kill Sandor. I like number 7, and how she is so fierce and determined to live. I like how she was able to travel in a group with Nine and Ella. I like Adam, and how he actually has a heart. I hate how he has to witness the killing of 1, 2, and number 3. I like how he tries to help number three, and how he is saved after Ivan pushes him over the edge of the cliff.

This was a fascinating collection of novellas. Lots of times, novellas don't interest me, and I feel as though they are completely unnecessary. However, these were fascinating. I loved getting into the heads of both Six (whom I adore) and Nine (a Garde I absolutely despise). In addition, we got to meet a completely new character, one on the opposite side of the war. I loved reading from the perspective of a conflicted Mog. The ending was suspenseful, and I can't wait to see if Adam's story continues into the actual books. I hope it does because, in his short 100 pages, I've grown to love him.

How far would you go to save a loved one? I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Legacies is a science fiction action adventure story split up into three stories. The stories take place in different countries on earth in the present. The main conflicts in this story can’t really happen in real life but some of the smaller struggles such as being forced into isolation could. The story is based around Six and her cêpan Katarina who are forced to move after two of the nine other aliens that were sent to earth with them died. This leads to run-ins with the Mogadorians another group of aliens trying to kill Six. This story was very exciting.
The main character is Six, who is a highly trained girl who will develop powers later in life. Her and her cêpan move to North and Mid America. They are on the run from Mogadorians otherwise known as Mogs. They have changed their names and moved in the past but this time the Mogs tracked them. While attacking Six a Mog is killed while trying to inflict pain upon Six. This is the first time she has used her Loridas Charm. Now her and Katarina know that they are being followed and have to find a way to escape.
I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. The author did a good job at developing the relationship between the characters and made them seem somewhat realistic even though they really aren't. The plot was very action packed and very exciting. He did a good making the reader really care about what they are reading.

I didn't read the stories in order, I started with The Fallen Legacies first because I was really curious about how Numbers One, Two and Three were discovered and annihilated. Imagine my surprise when I found out the entire story was told in a Mogadorian's point of view! I was expecting a recap of the Garde members' final moments but was instead introduced to a Mogadorian who, despite being the son of a very powerful and controlling General, had lost sense of his purpose and had begun to sympathize with his sworn enemies. But I wasn't all too surprised that he had been easily persuaded to leave his cause. From the very first statement I knew he'd be a total softie who'd eventually come to the realization that the Loriens weren't the bad guys on Earth.

I found it very disappointing though that he hadn't been much use to Numbers One, Two and Three. He basically hadn't done anything to prevent their deaths; he'd stood idly by and watched them take their final breaths because he was too much of a weak coward to be of any help. He'd bidden his time, thinking that the right time to avenge their Number One and Two's deaths would eventually come. But there wasn't a right time for it, not really, and by the time he'd mustered up the courage to try and help Number Three it had been too late. The Fallen Legacies had come to an unbearably sad conclusion where our Mogadorian hero, Adam, could not be properly identified as dead or alive. I like to think that he'd struggled to stay alive though. And that later I'll discover that he'd been the first to form an organization dedicated to stopping the war and bringing peace to both Earth and Lorien. I wish there were other Mogs like him.

In Nine's Legacy I finally got to see Number Nine's character before he turned into this seemingly-half-crazed maniacal, devil-may-care warrior who took great pleasure in slicing the Mogs to ashes. (Back then he was still arrogant and reckless though -- I think those have been permanently programmed into his system.) I discovered that the reason behind his capture was a human girl named Maddy (oh, just typical for Nine to fall for a human girl and lose his grip on reality and what he's supposed to do) but unlike Sarah, whom I have an obvious distaste in, Maddy was very cool. I know if I'd been in her place I also would've traded Nine in for my parents. That was a pretty desperate time. I couldn't blame her for her blissful ignorance. She wasn't supposed to get caught up in an intergalactic war. But she and her family did, and they were ultimately killed in the end. *Sob* I can't believe Pittacus Lore killed her and kept pretty-much-good-for-nothing Sarah alive. Ugh.

I also cried a little when I found out that the Mogs had captured Nine's Cêpan, Sandor, and tortured for days on end. He was probably the coolest Cêpan ever introduced. He was unbelievably skilled when it came to constructing gadgets and he was also very smart with investing his money and providing a lush, comfortable home for Nine (something that Nine obviously took for granted). He'd taught Nine well when it came his fighting stance and techniques and he gave him rules that were strict, but not too overbearing. He'd even given Nine tips on wooing a girl and had been very supportive of his relationship with Maddy. He was without a doubt really great and it was such a damn shame that he had to die. *Sniffle*

In Six's Legacy I also felt very sorry for Six, after her whereabouts had been tracked by the Mogs and she and her Cêpan Katarina were taken to a Mogadorian base and tortured. (Katarina was successully beaten black-and-blue; Six on the other hand had been protected by the Loric charm and was pretty much unscathed during her imprisonment there.) I was pretty happy though knowing that Six had emerged from her experience strong and determined to reunite with her fellow Garde members and taking the Mogs down one by one. Although she had lost her kind and motherly Cêpan, her ending was the least painful of all the installments in this book and I didn't cry as much.

Number four and number six decided to work together and fight back against the evil Mogadorian’s, the alien race who threaten to take over the earth. Now, as the remaining Loriens attempt to find each other and provide a united front, the pieces to their mysterious existence and presence on earth are slowly falling into place. A few questions remain, however, and THE LOST FILES: THE LEGACIES tells the missing stories of six, nine, and those who have already died.Six ultimately decided to seek out number four to help fight back, but that decision wasn't arrived at hastily. Instead, six's legacy reveals hardship and despair. After years on the run, six and her Cêpan (or guardian) Katrina are captured by the Mogadorian’s. Not knowing what number six is in the order, the Mogadorian’s are susceptible to the Lorien charm that protects each number from being killed out of turn. Attempts to hurt six backfire, so they decide to torture and kill Katrina instead. Confronted with heartbreak and despair, six is driven by the only thing left which is vengeance. You learn a little bit more about her childhood, as well as her relationship with her Cêpan, Katarina, and their capture and imprisonment in a Mogadorian mountain cave in West Virginia. Unlike other Lorien’s who are constantly on the run, number nine and his Cêpan decide to hide in plain sight and for an extended period of time. While this provided some stability as nine waited for his legacies to develop, it also provided some frustration. This becomes increasingly apparent when nine starts becoming friendly with a local girl. The chance at a normal life, though, is soon swept aside after the Mogadorian’s attack. As nine is the last of the numbers, the Mogadorian’s can do nothing else but lock him away. That, however, won't stop him. "The Fallen Legacies" is perhaps the most interesting of the three. Unlike the other stories, this story isn't told by a member of the Garde (namely, Numbers One, Two, and/or Three - the "fallen legacies" alluded to in the title), but by a young Mogadorian. As the son of a high-ranking Mogadorian General, Adamus "Adam" Sutekh is expected to follow in his father's footsteps: become an obedient, unquestioning soldier for the cause and, one day, a Mogadorian ruler on Earth. Hiding in plain sight in a Mogadorian enclave on Earth (read: an exclusive gated community outside of Washington, DC), he's a witness to the deaths of One, Two, and Three, with varying degrees of involvement. In many ways, these events are milestones in Adam's life, markers on his road to adulthood. Just eight years old during the "First Great Expansion" (i.e., the killing of the Loric people), Adam is slightly older than the members of the Garde - children who he is at times expected to kill in cold blood. Brainwashed by his people from birth, Adam is an enthusiastic believer in the Mogadorian "cause" - that is, until a forbidden experiment (sanctioned by his own father) gives him access to One's memories. In her mind Adam wanders for three years, with One acting as his sometimes-escort. Adam awakes only to find that one has taken up residence in his own brain; she quickly becomes the traditional angel on his shoulder. With her encouragement, Adam begins to question all he's been taught about Mogadorian supremacy and progress.

I really enjoyed this book while I was reading it. It is a really good book. The story line is great for the last two stories. But the first story is ok. The characters are well fleshed out. The book is very describing. It has lots of figurative language in it. The book uses figurative language such as similes, metaphors etc. I would recommend this book this book to people from 6th grade and up. The book is a very good book.

Originally, I was going to rate each of the short stories individually but now I'm kinda like 'screw it'. The Lorien Legacies are great books but I'm usually not into short stories like that. So I was surprised that these short stories are were so good. And each of stories are about some of my favorite characters!

I really enjoyed learning more about Six, you get more of her background story and feel a softer side of her. I was excited to learn more about Nine, Sandor and their relationship together. It was nice to see Cepans interacting with their Garde. The most shocking thing to me was that Adam's story was my favorite. I mean I was always curious about his background.

I would recommend that you read these short stories if you've read the Loren Legacies!

I thought The Lost Files of Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy, and The Fallen Legacies were three good short stories to read before I read The Rise of Nine. Unlike some people I do not own any type of tablet for eBooks, so I was super excited for these books to come out for print, so I can be more informed before I read the third book.

Six's Legacy:
Six's Legacy was my favorite from all of the short stories. I really enjoy reading about Six because even though Six is super strong she's not selfish like number four. Reading about her struggles and claiming her first victory against the Mogs was awesome and that's why number Six is my favorite character. I also like how she gain her first legacies which I believe comes at certain age but when they need it. I also became very fond over her Cepan Katarina, and I was very sad when the Mogs leader killed her and reading about number Six pain because she was trying to help her Cepan, and they share mother and daughter bond, and Six is going to narrate for the third book so that's great.

Nine's Legacy:
I really wanted to read this story before I read The Rise of Nine because I wanted to have a preview of Nine's personality and why he'll make certain decisions through his past experience. I like number Nine but his story remains me of number four. Guy falls for girl, girl falls for guy, and girl betrays guy, so Lorien young men like young Earthling women who betrays them how romantic. Molly wasn't a bad character, but was trying to save her parents from the Mogs, and they payed the ultimate price which I did not expect to happen. Overall, I like Nine's Cepan and how he was compare to Batman because of all of his gadgets. Nine and Sandor had a hate love relationship, and I love Nine's Legacy of anti- gravity and I am really excited to see how number Four and Nine work together.

The Fallen Legacies:
I thought this was the second best story because it gives the reader a different viewpoint of The Lorien Legacies series and had a lot of action. I liked Adam's character who was a Mog and how he is a underdog. He is absolutely different from his race and is open-minded and care for others. I was able to understand the Mogs better and their intentions. Overall, Adam tried to save number Two and Three with the help of the ghost of number One. Adam's father was a guy that you did not want to piss off and I couldn't stand Ivan he was complete arrogant guy.I felt sorry for number two and three deaths, and I thought number One was completely stupid for falling for a guy then stealing for him and getting caught; even though, I thought her legacy was pretty cool, and I grown to like her throughout the progress of the story. Adam was a really cool character with great character development and courage which he gained throughout the story. I hope he comes back for The Rise of Nine because I think his story is not over yet.

I believe this is a must read, and I can't wait for The Rise of Nine.TWO MORE WEEKS!

Personal response:I liked this book, and I gave it four stars. I gave it four stars, because the garde of Lorien were always in a spot where they could have be in danger or captured.I also liked how it showed how the Mogadorians thought and why they continued to hunt the garde.It showed the story from multiple point of views.

Plot: This book was three separate stories about one war that was being fought between two alien races on Earth. There was an alien race called the Mogadorians and they were hunting the few survivors of a war on Lorien. This book talks about a specific Mogadorian named Adamus that did not follow what his fellow people were taught. Also it talked about the six and nine from Lorien and how they needed to stay hidden until they could fight back against the Mogadorians.They needed their powers to develop before they could fight back. They also cannot be killed out of order of there charms unless they were together. This was a big help keeping the garde alive.

Characterization:The two people from Lorien in this book were both captured at different times, and when both were captured they were nice, kind, and polite to people but weary of the Mogadorians. Eventually though they were captured. They were waiting in solitude looking for any chance at escape. They had to watch their teachers tortured and both eventually killed. Both of them escaped but they were changed people. They were more ruthless and nine even went a little mad. The other person in this book was a Mogadorian who at the beginning was ruthless and unpleasant to be around. After he watched the life of the ones he was hunting and meeting two of them he was a better nicer person. He did not want to hunt the garde and tried to help them secretly. The Mogadorians are taught to be cold hearted, ruthless, and unforgiving which he was not anymore. He did not fit in anymore and eventually was almost killed rebelling.

Impact of Setting: All of these characters were all running all over the world.. They were either trying to stay out of danger or to kill the remaining garde. Most of the story occurred in present day United States and started with Four, Six, and Sam fleeing Ohio. The Mogadorians were in Washington at an underground facility that they made from caves. The two people from Lorien started in New York and some were in northern Mexico but eventually fled. If the people of Lorien stayed in one place they would have be captured or killed, and if the Mogadorians did not keep hunting they would have not found the garde and there plan would have failed.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to thirteen year old guys. I recommended it to thirteen years olds or older because the comprehension level is higher. The first person view keeps changing and you can get a little lost on who is thinking or doing what. There was also some violence and death so I would probably not recommend it for younger readers.

So the book had three parts, telling 3 stories. We got a backstory to Nine's Legacy, Six's, and as well as of One's, two's and three's.

Six's story was known from the the Lorien Legacies Series. So when Katarina died I wasn't suprised, nor when she got her first legacy, she killed the Mog that killed her Cépan, nor when she stayed to memorize the mountain. But it was good to relive it through her eyes, living it with her. Watching Six actually fragile, cry out for Katarina, playing football, playing her favorite game made me emotional. Enjoyed every moment.

Nine was always known as the goofy, battle-obsessed, sarcastic idiot. We have seen his soft side when talking to John and his furious one when talking about Five, his vulnerable side when Eight died. To see him in love, feel embarrassed over climbing a wall, get nervous over a date, is so unlike him it was a joy to read. Nine was a kid back then, so of course he would crush on someone, but it was so sad to see him ignore Sandor but I wasnt suprised that much. Let's not forget John did the same thing with Henry (he just used Telekinisis and made him stay on Paradise because of Sara). It was nice to see why he was how he was. Seeking for revenge for his dead Sépan, for Maddy's betrayal. Wow.

And finally, the Fallen Legacies was not quite what I expected. As almost everyone, I thought we would see One, Two and Three through their eyes. I suspected to see Adam on One's life, since he did say he knew her and he 'inherited' her powers. But Adam has been part of the Garde's life more than we knew. Witnessing their deaths, trying to make a difference, help. I was suprised to see this Adam at first. At the beginning he was everything we thought a Mog would be. But then, after meeting One, he started questioning everything. Defying his father, earning his respect for a slight second, going against his entire world. I'm glad I got to know him better. On the books, I was always having second thoughts about him. Finding weird his concetion with One, but it's all clear now. I must read the books again now just for Adam, to understand him more now that I know his story

SIX'S LEGACY: 5/5 stars
I enjoyed Six's adventures before going to Paradise and meeting John. It's narration is similar to I Am Number Four, except that it is told by Six's point-of-view. Like this one, the others were written in 1st person, present tense. I like present tense. It's cool to read the adventure through it happening in the present timeframe rather than the past. Basically, in this story, Six and her Cêpan, Katarina, like the others from Planet Lorien that walk the Earth, are on the run from the Mogadorians. This is how Six becomes who she is now.

NINE'S LEGACY: 4/5 stars

Tells Nine's story before he becomes who he is now. And I enjoyed it. Apart from the weird romance and how in a few pages (near the end) it has been a year or so. Nine was on a run, a mogadorian was following him, they end up in the elevator that takes them to Nine's home. Yada, yada. He finds a girl in the rec room (an exercise room, or close to it). When he runs from, he goes to her. In the end, he is caught and...become Nine as we know him.

THE FALLEN LEGACIES: 4/5 stars

This tells us the way One, Two, and Three die, I guess. And it is in the point-of-view of a Mogadorian. It was interesting to read from the point-of-view of a Mogadorian. Especially Adam, who is different from the rest of his race. When they kill One, he doesn't feel the proud of it. For Two and Three, he's determined to save. But no one must know - especially his father. In this one, I have also notices there is two flash-forwards. But without it, the story would've taken as long as a novel to read. It ends in a cliffhanger way, and I wonder if there will be more.

I can't describe how I'm feeling right now. It's a mixture of gratefulness for being able to read this book; quiet contentment in finally understanding the characters; learned helplessness for the inevitable doom of Numbers One, Two and Three; and deep sadness for the many other deaths that had occurred. The story was beautifully written but I can't help but feel dejected by the events that had happened to the Garde.

I've always wondered about the characters' back stories, especially the fallen Garde. When I read about what had happened to Six and her Cepan I got choked up. I saw how she developed into a strong-willed individual because of the tragedy that had befallen her even before the actual war began. I never loved Six's character as much as I did while I read this book.

But with Nine's character on the other hand, I felt very irritated by all his whining. Compared to the other Garde he had relatively better living conditions and all he kept doing was look for trouble. I was very disappointed in him. But I still felt bad about Maddy; she and her parents didn't deserve to die a cruel death -- eaten by a piken. But at least I now understand the reason as to why Nine had been so arrogant in The Rise of Nine.

The Fallen Legacies was interesting. It was narrated by a teen-aged Mogadorian named Adam. He begins to doubt his species' beliefs when he learns of the hardships of the Garde and feels empathy towards them. He tries to help Number Two and Three but unfortunately fails. The ending is not quite clear if Adam dies or if he will soon join the Lorien cause. But at any rate I liked his character and I cried at the end of the book. I know the first three Garde would eventually die but I couldn't help but hope that maybe somehow the end would change. I just loved the book and I hope to read the other Garde's back stories soon.

This book focuses on three different legacies stories. The three different stories are numbers 6 and 9 and then The Fallen Mogadorian. Numbers 6 and 9 are basically the names of two of the Lorien Garde. This may sound a little complicated but trust me, the book sorts it all out quick and simple so you are not confused! The stories give a brief background of the character before going into the story of their encounter with the Mogadorian, in 6 and 9's cases, or the Garde, in The Fallens case.

This book is different than most that I read. It's fictional element of other world beings had me a little worried that it would be lame. However, I actually liked this book and would recommend it to young adults. The idea of other beings, how they came to earth, and their mission is not hard to understand so the reader doesn't feel lost. Also I like how they are able to leave some mystery concerning the whole back story without leaving the audience confused. The story is told first person from the perspective of the main character which is a fun way for the writer to experience this other worldly life.

I think that young adults will be able to personally connect to this plot because even though the characters are from other worlds they experience the same feelings of infatuation, rebellion, and a want for individuality that teenagers go through. I definitely would recommend this to students who value imagination and out of the box books. I do have one reservation when recommending this because I did find two scenes to be a little graphic. I know that students see bad things on TV and in real life all the time but I would be careful to recommend this to students with conservative or sheltered lives.

This book consists of #1: Six's Legacy. #2: Nine's Legacy. #3: the Fallen Legacies. I really enjoyed this book and it might have something to do with the fact that Six and Nine are my top two Garde members, so I really had a great time reading about their past.

This book is about Six before she met John Smith and all her adventures and how she lost her chest. About Nine before he met John Smith and how different his life was before. About One, Two and Three and how they meet their deaths.

Six: Six's story was so interesting and intriguing and we finally learnt why she is so cold and distant but still an amazing ass-kicking fighter. I really felt her Six in her story, the girl is strong. I don't know how she survived.

Nine: Nine seems like such a tough mean guy so I don't really know why I like him but after reading this, I understand why and I stand back by my decision. His story is also heartbreaking and I don't know how he was able to live. Now we know why he is so impulsive about killing Mogs. Because imagine if John lost Sarah then he would be the exact same as Nine.

The Fallen Legacies: I wish that they didn't have to die. Even though these stories are the ones we know will end in them dying, you still get surprised. We are introduced to Adam, a friendly Mog who helps out Three even though Three still died, I was cheering for Adam.

I think these stories just made me love Nine and Six more because they gave the characters so much more depth and backstory and now we fully understand them. These stories made me grieve One, Two and Three because before they were just a number, not really a person but now I know them and it is so much worse.

A fantastic read. The Legacies is split into 3 different stories- Six's Legacy, Nine's Legacy and The Fallen Legacies.

I enjoyed how action-packed Six's Legacy was. Also, I loved learning more of Six's backstory. In Six's Legacy, we get a short glimpse of her struggle before eventually finding Four. We also get to see more of her relationship with her Cepan, Katarina, before she died. I love how I also got to see a different side of her character. She was still the strong-willed Garde that was in the first three books, but we also meet the softer side of her character--a young Garde who at first couldn't bring herself to kill anything, a young Garde who sometimes look at her Cepan as her own mother.

The second part was also as action-packed as the first part. Similar to Six's Legacy, we also get to see more of his relationship with his Cepan. I loved how Nine's Cepan's death was more emotionally gripping than Six's, and how the death of his Cepan affected Nine. I also really enjoyed the last chapters of Nine's Legacy where we get to jump back to the moment of Four and Nine's first encounter--but in Nine's POV.

The last part of the book was probably my favorite part. It was definitely refreshing because the third part was actually told from the point of view of a Mogadorian named Adam. I really hope to see Adam again, maybe in the fourth book or the fifth. I also loved One's (ONE!!) story in The Fallen Legacies. I even enjoyed the brief appearance of Two and Three. Ugh, I wish they can all come back.

If you're a fan of the series, you definitely shouldn't miss this one. A must read!

Four month ago when I read this, I felt strongly about writing some deeply insightful literary criticism about the series and about Pitticus Lore’s writing style. Now of course, I don’t remember any of that. I will say that if you are a fan of the series, I definitely recommend reading this. Six’s story isn’t particular exciting as it is mostly covered in the other books. Nine’s story and the fallen legacies help fill out and supplement the overall plot. I haven’t read the other companion pieces yet, but it will be interesting to find out if characters introduced in the fallen legacies will reappear.

One thing that I do remember about reading this book is how clearly it illustrates Pitticus Lore’s ability to create lovesick teenage boys and his inability to portray interesting female characters. In the second book, Marina’s narrative was fairly flat has the helpless girl felt trapped and incapable of making a decision. I just thought she was a boring character. However, when reading Six’s story, I realized that she is similarly superficial character-wise. Where Marina acts weak and helpless, Six is the super-soldier—all action and little emotion. When you get to Nine’s story, it is like a second wind. All of sudden, things are interesting. While neither Nine nor Four are the most complex of characters, they feel much more real. In a story of this type, it’s pretty likely that everyone will be a stock character of one particular type or another. I just feel like the females need some help. So far the most remarkable female has been One and she’s dead.

I really enjoyed these short stories! I accidentally read half of the Rise of Nine before I started this, so I already knew some of what happens in these novellas, but it didn’t take away from the story. However, I did think Maddy was just added in as a love interest for Nine and had no real role in the story otherwise. She had no personality and it felt kind of repetitive of what happened with John and Sarah. But I LOVED the Fallen Legacies novella, I couldn’t believe it was from the PoV of a Mogadorian at first. Super interesting and unexpected, and I really hope to see more of Adam later in the story! Can’t believe it ended there - I want to know more!

I personally think this is one of the best books I have read so far. I have not read a lot of book in my past years but now that I have read "I am number four", I realize that in order to read a good book, you have to give it a chance. The phrase "never judge a book by it's cover" is true because before I read this book, I honestly had no idea of what to expect. But now that I have finished this book, I absolutely look this book and plus the movie, I am just speechless.
