I love the novels featuring Smoke Jensen (and Sally, his wife). He’s a family man, and does what is necessary to be protect his family, his property, and the innocent. His law is his law, and he’s known and feared wide and wide as the the true legend he is. A fair man, always trying to make a way out for those who have it in their feeble minds they can take them, but some never learn… you simply can’t come up against greased lightening and win that battle.

What a battle involving hundreds of men? A sharp shooter? Dirty lawmen? I did mention he’s a legend, right?! And not only a legend, but a smart one!

Love Rodney J. Turner as the narrator- he’s perfect and believable in recounting this tale!

5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

IT'S A GOOD DAY TO DIE BOYS

The fools , bullies and land grabbing idiots are at it again, this time there messing with Smoke's niece Jenny Jensen, whose mother is Smoke's sister Janey. A little background on Janey, remember she put a "BOUNTY" on Smoke because he shot her lover, partner in another land grabbing, money 💰💰stealing enterprises. So now Janey dead and her seventeen year old daughter needs help badly. The largest instigators are Cosgrove, Fosburn and Biggers, they want the land that Janey had willed to Smoke. There are mountains on her land, which when mined would produce "Gold"as they say "there's gold in them there hills."
So friends and fellow Smoke Jensen fans, he's on his way to Red Light, Montana. All one can say is Lordy folks, look out Smoke will put a "hurt" on those who are trying to bamboozle a young seventeen year old girl out of her estate.
Smoke Jensen has a lot of friends who will coming riding if and when he puts the word out. He's also a U.S.Marshal for life, because of the help he's given to those in high government positions. He is a force to be reckoned with, there's no doubt in any of our minds.
You'll get to know some of the old gunhands that ran with Preacher, and I might add helped educate Smoke as he was growing up with Preacher. This adventure is everything and more as any of us expect when enjoying a Smoke Jensen adventure. It's the "BOMB" this author will not let you down. Love when he describes the horses that only Smoke can ride. There's Buck who is hell raising mountain horse, when he and Smoke are together, it's like another human riding with Smoke, that horse 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎takes no guff or misdirected meaness from an unsuspecting idiot, who tried to harm him or Smoke. I say give Buck five stars and move it out!

Another great story about Smoke Jensen. Smoke's sister has died and left her property (which includes a ranch, a bar, and a whorehouse) to her teenage daughter. There are greedy ranchers and townsmen thinking to run her out, so Smoke and Sally go to her aid and it all turns into a battle royal. Smoke brings along some good men and the bad guys hire a lot more on their side ... it ends with a big gun fight on the main street of town. If you like cowboy stories Smoke's adventures are very entertaining.

This is the third book I have read by the author William W. Johnstone and I think I have found a western writer that I like. This is a good read about Smoke Jensen, who was trained by Preacher. Smokes sister dies and leaves her ranch to her daughter, Jenny, but she was still just a teenager. Smoke went to Red Light, Montana to help Jenny keep her ranch. Some bad men were trying to take over the ranch.

Smoke Jenson helps his deceased sister’s 17 year old daughter keep the land of her mother. The town elites are taking measures to get it. Smoke takes on about 50+ gunfighters. Many on the other side switch sides to work on her land while Smoke and a handful of friends rid the town of these killers along with the elite.

This is a very good book I love how when you and family don’t see eye to eye your still family and you fight for your family!

This book definitely deserves one more star than usual rating. What a non-stop action!! To give a tiny spoiler: beware of town-tamer.

Loved this entry in the series. I loved all the side characters, I loved their "happily ever after" chapter, and it felt like a good old rootin tootin romp of a western.

Smoke Jensen is out to say a town again. This time the story is tied to Smoke's niece. The bad guys are essentially the same. As are the good guys. The story and action are almost entirely the same. Much of the writing is the same. A good bulk of conversations have been heard in many other Johnstone Clan volumes. Even characters are repeated.

Otherwise, the writing is great. Greater still if a Johnstone book is new to the reader.

Bottom lines:
1) If you've read Smoke series: I don't recommend the book.
2) If you haven't read the Smoke series: I do recommend the book.

Very good western series. The story of Smoke Jensen, trained by the last of the mountain men as a boy. If you like men's adventure and westerns then you will enjoy the series. Recommended
