I really liked this book!! but what i really wanted to comment on was, I know you are not suppose to judge a book by its cover, but YIKES at the cover on Goodreads! Its sad to say I probably would not have read this had I seen that mullet jerry curl!!! I wouldnt have been able to get it out of my head while i read about the SEXY Winn!! All in all I really did enjoy this book!

Fondness!

My romance novel start began with historical romances some 30+ years ago, but the last 10 years or so I’ve read nothing but contemporary romances. This book was my first read back into the historical romance world and I’m glad I read it! I actually saw this book in a Dollar General while shopping and decided to see if it was available via Kindle, which it was; so I got the book and two days later I’m already finishing it. Compared to the contemporaries, and honestly a lot of my fave historical ones, the love scenes in this one were very tamed but still got the “message” across. I absolutely LOVED the overall storyline of the adventure and the evil lazy antagonists (boy they were sleazy!), but the sub-storylines were great too. Great read, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I think if I had not got the newer version of this book I would not have bought the original version simply for the cover. The cover model was not enticing at all. However I think this book was a very good lesson for the evils of greed and for the rewards for good. It was not laced with sex like most of the novels I read which was extremely refreshing.
