As the second member of the Black Gryffons, Malek Alexandre is both a guardian of humanity and protector of a dangerous secret. Nonetheless, he must fulfill his duty to marry--no mundane task for a man of his position, and his carnal appetites. His choice of bride will have a very real impact on the lovers with whom he routinely shares orgiastic pleasures--among other taboo delights he prefers to continue. But his heart knows there is only one woman for Lei, a former sex slave haunted by her past. Like Malek, Lei yearns for control. Marriage is the last thing on her mind. Yet the harder she and Malek fight the desire mounting between them, the more it demands ecstatic satisfaction, until it can no longer be denied--even when their love brings a treacherous enemy to their doorstep. . .
"Scorching hot. . .a heady mix of BDSM and thrill combined with the dark world of vampires." -- Romantic Times on Dangerous Master
"Delicious taboo sex and intrigue. . .irresistible!" --Eden Bradley on Darkest Fire
"Absolutely delicious!" --Kate Douglas on Dark Master
WARNING! This is a REALLY HOT book. (Sexually Explicit)
Nothing exciting happens in Tawny Taylor's life, unless you count giving the cat a flea dip--a cat can make some fascinating sounds when immersed chin-deep in insecticide--or chasing after a houseful of upchucking kids during flu season. She doesn't travel the world or employ a staff of personal servants. She's not even built like a runway model. She's just your run-of-the-mill, pleasantly plump Detroit suburban mom and wife.
GoodReads Synopsis: Drako has found his woman Rin (see Darkest Fire). As the second Malek believes he has selected his mate in former sex slave Lei. However, though she is attracted to him, they have a problem with their relationship since both are doms. Adding further complications are Male is in a relationship with Brent and the Chimera targets Lei.
The second Black Gryffon erotic Celtic fantasy romance is an action-packed thriller with an intriguing love between two doms arguing who's on top. However, neither protagonist feels three dimensional though sub-genre fans, especially those who read Darkest Fire, will enjoy the heated courtship.
**INTENDED FOR AN ADULT AUDIENCE**
My Thoughts: Well, we learned a little bit more about the “Black Griffons”, as well as Rin’s sister Lei. But I was hoping to learn more about this secret they protect. The action and intrigue level was much higher in this installment which made for a better story. The characters are still lacking, but are likeable. There is some steamy sex and some very mild BDSM. The pacing is good, the story is a one sitting read that I am hoping will tie up some of the loose ends in the next, and presumably, final installment. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
"Nether Lips"? "Swollen Tissue"? GAH! It's saying very little when the sex scenes are written better than the rest of this book!
Was there a prequel to this book that I don't know about? Character development is so very thin. I know the author was trying to build anticipation by keeping The Secret secret, but I was not on the edge of my seat--I don't think I was even sitting down.
Also, events taking place before the start of the novel are sketchy. Even clunky. That's what I call it when one character asks another, "Do you remember what happened this summer?" And the other responds, "My sister was kidnapped...." Really? That's the best way to introduce previous storyline?
I'd also like to know the likelihood of three gorgeous brothers all being doms, living together, sharing a dungeon/scene room, and lovers all while protecting The Secret.
GAH, I say, GAH!

Again I have read a second book without reading the first one. It was pretty easy to catch on, as each book focuses on a different couple.
I'm not sure what I really think about this book. I liked some parts and others just weren't doing it for me. But overall I enjoyed it enough to keep reading til the end.
2.5 stars. I have not read the first book in this series but it was easy enough to figure out. There are characters that are not necessary for this story. They add nothing to the story, but they could have. This should have been a home run book, but falls short by adding too much extra.
