Blood Possession by Tessa Dawn
But nothing is to be smooth, for his enemies, rivals of Sons of Jadon, cannot let a blood moon pass without cooking up evil schemes to gain power and dominion.Part of what's kept me interested in this series is its attention to the enemy's side, the characterization and motivation that is shown. While I ultimately root for the good vampires to be alpha, woo their destined mates, and save the day, I also want the bad guys to be diabolical, make it a challenge and have some bad guy charisma. What can I say, I like a good villain. I even like to be offhandedly sympathetic towards him.![]()
“Should the gods allow it—and should you give me even the slightest opportunity—I hope to spend every ounce of my considerable power making you happy.”BUT he doesn't save the story,(. He is rendered vulnerable by his enemies who aptly use his arrogance, the unpreparedness of him and his men, against him. He made grand gestures, offered some heavy truths, but not enough for me to be wowed by him or feel he lived up to my anticipation of him as a hero. He's supposed to be the most powerful one, and this power was displayed awesomely in the previous book, but here I guess the author wanted to paint him in a different light, meh...I wasn't buying it all the way, or at least it left me wanting.
He even breaks into verse, the a poet king.
“I’ll be your moonlight in the night; I’ll make everything all right. I’ll give you love; protect your heart; fulfill your dreams…
Can’t you see I’ve always been that imaginary friend,
the knight who still defends his treasured queen…”
