All to Jesus: A Year of Devotions

Rate this book
“Cast all your cares on him.” “Love the Lord with all your heart.” “I can do all things . . . .” You’d be surprised how often the word “all” appears in the Bible—thousands of times. And with each description of God’s comprehen- sive promises, each reminder of our complete blessing in Christ, each appeal for our full and total surrender, His reputation grows larger before our eyes.

We see again what He can do. We see again who we can be.

From Robert J. Morgan ( 100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart, Then Sings My Soul ) comes All to Jesus , a choice sampling of the Bible’s most “all”-encompassing statements, surrounded each day by inspiring stories, personal reflections, and the encouraging assurance that you are cared for in ways you never imagined.

Derived from the pages of real life and a pastor’s heart, each daily reading meets you in an ever-deeper place, revealing God’s immeasurable power and keen attention to the smallest detail. Truly, He is all you need. All year long.

Excellent devotional that I read each day along with my daily Bible reading. Timely illustrations abound throughout the book and I made notes re: 64 of the 365 entries. They will be a solid resource in my teaching and preaching in the years to come!

Title: ALL TO JESUS
Author: Robert J. Morgan
Publisher: Broadman & Holman
October 2012
ISBN: 978-1-4336-7786-1
Genre: Devotional

ALL TO JESUS is a 365 day devotional focused on the “Alls” of Scripture. The word “all” is repeated thousands of times, according to Mr. Morgan, in phrases such as:

Cast all your cares on Him…
Love the Lord with all your heart…
…in all your ways acknowledge Him…
I can do all things through Christ…

Mr. Morgan writes about God’s all-encompassing promises and blessings in ALL TO JESUS, with His loving appeal for our full and total surrender. Jesus’ reputation grows larger before our eyes.

As you read through ALL TO JESUS, we’ll see what He can do. We discover who we can be.

I love devotionals, I admit that. I like to get them in the mail, read them for my devotions, at various times during the day. I keep devotionals everywhere. In the kitchen, for a quick-God moment. In the bathroom, for reading material. Beside the bed. Beside my computer. In the car… everywhere. I like to be focused on God and what better way that to immerse myself in His word, and thoughts about the Scripture reading that’s included.

Each devotional is only a page long. It starts with a single verse, or a short passage, written out for easy reference. Then it goes into brief thoughts about the passage, and concludes with more verses, words to a song, or a short story to emphasize what you read.

Pick up a copy of ALL TO JESUS today, and discover these life-changing truths for yourself. Recommended. Beautifully done in hardcover, making it the ideal gift for the upcoming holiday season. Includes a free download of more than 40 songs. $14.99. 400 pages. 5 stars.

All to Jesus is a wonderful devotional that will truly bless anyone who chooses to walk with the Lord through its pages. Each day includes a short Bible reading, with a special verse highlighted from the passage, and it is accompanied by a quick story or illustration or thought on life. I find that the daily devotion is just perfect to get me thinking about a truth from God's word, a truth that can carry me through my day. The devotions are interesting and well-written, and contain a lot of wisdom. Often I hear people complain that it's just too difficult to find time to spend in God's word or time to spend in a devotional. All to Jesus provides an answer to just such thinking, as it will taking maybe a minute or two to read the day's offering. After spending the day thinking about you red, you just may find yourself opening God's word for more!

This devotional would make a wonderful gift for a loved one this Christmas, or perhaps you may just want to pick it up for yourself. I give it a solid recommendation and a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

One of the trends today is to pick one word and focus on it for the entire year. That is somewhat of the premise of this devotional. In the introduction Mr. Morgan tells us how reading 1 Peter 5:7 began his journey of studying the word all, in all of the scriptures. I know that most skip over introductions but in this case don’t, you will be doubly blessed by what he has to say.

The format is simple. Each day is numbered so you can literally start at any point in the year, be it January 1st or July 27th. There is a suggested scripture passage and then a highlighted verse that contains the word all. Following that there is a devotional that pertains to the subject of the highlighted verse.

Mr. Morgan has a very conversational style of writing that I think most will find enjoyable. It would make a nice reading companion at the beginning of your day or right before you lay your head down. I for one enjoy carrying a small Bible and devotional book in my car with me. Like most wives and mothers there are times that I get stranded waiting for a family member. This book was wonderful to read and ponder during those moments.

I really wanted to like this book, but a devotional that jumps around from translation to translation makes no sense to me. For me a devotional is a guide to help you in your daily Bible reading. But if I can't open my Bible and follow along and study, make sense of what is being said...then it is just confusion and frustration to me.
Let me put it like this, I wrote a piece and sent it in by request. Was told that I had a special way with words and people would love my story. But when it was "edited" and I read it I couldn't even tell that it was the same story! It hadn't been edited it had been rewritten.
Most of the "verses" were rewritten to the point of being unrecognizable to me.
I was sent this book by B&B Media for my honest review of this books content. These are my personal opinions only.

An excellent read to accompany your daily Bible reading! Morgan takes verses from the Bible that use the word "all," and he uses anecdotes from his time as a pastor, historical tidbits, and Bible lessons to expand on those verses. This was an encouragement for me each morning, and the truths stayed in my heart as I went about my day. I highly recommend this powerful little book.
