Headstrong heroine Faith Reynolds returns in this thrilling sequel to the paranormal romance Blood on the Moon !
After surviving being kidnapped by a vampire, Faith would just love to focus on some alone time with her hot (though occasionally furry) boyfriend, Lucas. Unfortunately, with a vampire uprising on the horizon and her best friend, Derek, about to wake up and find himself transformed into a half-werewolf, half-vampire being without a beating heart, Faith has a few other things to take care of first.
Faith is not without help, in the form of her newfound powers of sensing people's emotions and being able to influence werewolves' actions, not to mention her begrudging but rather helpful boyfriend. Even so, convincing a werewolf packmaster to prepare for an epic battle may be difficult to do without solid evidence.
Lose yourself once more in the deliciously suspenseful world of werewolves versus vampires, otherworldly boys with deadly charm, and addictive, spine-tingling action and romance!

Lucas, Faith’s werewolf boyfriend, believes there is a vampire uprising and is trying to prove it even though the pack leader refuses to believe him. Then Derek, Faith’s ex that was turned in revenge, wakes up. The first hybrid vampire/werewolf, no one knows what his abilities are or even if he is going to be sane in the end. Faith is torn in two. She wants to be with Lucas, help explore her abilities and how they interact with Lucas. But she is also pulled to Derek, it is her fault that he is a hybrid and she is trying to do everything possible to help him adjust and to keep Lucas from killing him.

Then the murders start happening again. Something is in the works with the vampires, the question is what. It looks like they are trying to get Derek to go to their side because of how powerful he is. Faith is also trying to go back to her old life, but she is having trouble trying to connect to her old friend, Heather, that has turned to drugs after her breakup with Peter. Faith has got to get her life in order before she ends up on the wrong side of the vampires.

So I have a confession, I have both books in the Blood Moon series but I grabbed the wrong one to read first. I don’t have the back story to go off of, but that didn’t matter. This Blood Crave was written so well that I didn’t have to read the other first, it was easy to figure out what was going on.

I understand Faith’s love for Lucas and the dilemma of wanting to be turned or not so she can be with him forever and the whole controlling his triggers. I was a bit miffed at her constantly running to Derek and keeping Lucas from killing him. I understand how she is guilty about his being turned. But really, she is ruining her life over someone that cheated on her and is constantly trying to get between her and her current boyfriend.

I was also irritated about how she keeps thinking that she can just join Lucas or Derek and fight the vampires herself. Did she not remember anything about her fight in the last book? Does she not see what these creatures are capable of? I admit that I was about ready to slap her upside her head with her stupidity. Argh!

Ok, deep breath. Over all, this is a good story. I like the concept and loved the surprise ending. Even though I read them in the wrong order, I really want to see what happened to start Faith’s story.

This is one book that I will recommend with the warning to not expect a lot of brain power from Faith.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I liked Dereks and Lucas characters but there was just too much angst between them and Faith. The angst just took away from the story causing Faith to come across as a selfish brat most of the time. I figured that Faith would've been turned several times in the story but as you thought the story was coming to an end you took another turn delaying the inevitable. But seriously there needs to bee another book because the way it ended is unacceptable. We as readers need closer to the bigger picture of the vamp coven and wether they mass produce Derek's blood and how Faith and Lucas end up handling her change and how it impacts the pack.

Woah. Why can't Faith and Lucas just be together without anyone getting in the way?! And I hate Lucas's decision at the end of the book. I mean, c'mon you can't just leave her hanging like that! Anyway, I can't wait for the third book.

Oh God. Oh, why did I read this book?
*SIGH* (if you haven't read the book, don't read this review. If you're a die heart fan-which I doubt anyone who has read this books is-then I figure it would be best if you steer clear from this review. I will be ranting about nearly everything I disliked about this book. Which is 99.9 precent of the book...)

Ughhhhhhhhhhh....Alright, so here's my thoughts on this over sized book (I can describe this book in two sentence: It's like a soap opera, only with vampires and werewolves-and one annoying Viran. Only you hate everyone, even the cute ones.

Why do I say this, you may ask? Because a good potion of it is Faith complaining. Complaining about how mean Lucas can be to Derek. Complaining why Lucas is so overbearing. Complaining when he leaves her sorry ass. Complaining when he doesn't take her on that stupid fifteen year long trip to protect her at the end of the book.

She's worse then Bella Swan!!! Where as Bella was tolerable at times, Faith reached new heights of hatred and took all of my patience away with her annoying little "schemes" she tried to pull off and be "slick" while doing it. (This girl needs to not only improve on her lying skills, but be a better interrogator as well.)

You start off with the preface when you open Blood Crave (like before, I read the preface and hated myself for it. I warn you not to, if you haven't read the book. Because the moment I finish that one pager preface I flipped to the ending of the book to see if my prediction of her turning into a vampire was true or not ....And, thankfully I was wrong. Really wrong.

She had turned into a werewolf. (wtf)

Even better -________-

So, I got into the book already with some low expectations. Still though, I read it, and gave it a shot. Well, 1/3 of a shot, considering the fact that I hated the first one so much. And I would like to state that not only did I (sorta) enjoy the first one more than this sequel, but I also believe that this one was worse then any book I've ever laid my eyes upon.

I'm pretty sure I won't be reading the following books in this train wreck of a series. If I do, it is out my curiosity to see if it's really possible to get any worse with this already horrible story line.

FIRST CHUNK OF THE BOOK:

So, the first chapter in the book begins about three or two weeks after where the first book ended. *In the first book, you should already know how Derek opened his eyes for the first time, and that was literally the last line in the book* And you know what he did when he wakes up? He faints, and falls right back into a deep slumber -_- (Once again, wtf?)

The reason I hated this was how Knight put this into the first chapter and so quickly it was brought to our attention and push back again.

It was told to us that this was what happened and that was it. I believe it would have been nicer if she actually had written this out by showing us, and instead she should've written with Faiths anticipation rising to see if he would meet her eyes, and the boom! He knocks back out. I don't know why, BUT I would've liked to have seen that and see how she felt. It was just so rushed and thrown into our faces, like here! This is what happened after he woke up, now back to my hot werewolf boyfriend and our hunt to find a vampire! Yay! *giggling madly*

She broke the ultimate writing rule. SHOW DON'T TELL. Which is scattered all over the first book, and in this one as well. She always tells us how kind or sweet someone is, or how rude or sexy they are, but all I get is bored. Very bored and plain characters.

So, after Derek is finally awake on the next full moon, they learn that he's a hybrid. No shock there. It's on the back of the book :L Viran is the stupidest thing ever. Why the hell would you want to be call that Derek Turner? Really? Viran? *sigh*

Another thing about Derek *also about Lucas* is that they may seem all rude and all to each other and tough shell guys (side note: Lucas is just a straight up douche-bag who needs a damn shock collar for dogs, preferably in a larger size to fit his wolf form) anyways, they might be all big and tough with others, but they say some stuff I doubt any guy would say to their girlfriend/ex/best friend/old lover. Yeah, I know. Faith and Lucas as are madly in love (though they've been dating for only two/three months at this point) but some of the stuff he says to her after they had make-up sex was really cringe worthy. I was swimming in sappiness that it made me want to vomit. Like, this guy can't be serious. The last time I heard a guy sound this unbelievably mushy in real life was from a complete loser. (no offense Lucas)

These are the words a woman wants to hear, not what a actual guy would say. Well, given his demeanor, I don't think he would. Sure, he can have his sweet moments, but you can't convince me with the shit he pulls.

Maybe it's just the small remainder of a tomboy heart that's still in me from my middle school years, but seriously? WHYYY? And like I said before, Derek is really open really fast with her too, but he's known her his whole life, you know? And I wasn't so hard on him because he's had his ups and downs with her for years. Lucas had three months.

Uh, yeah, not so fast buddy.

Even with they're creepy "matched" story the writers trying to pull on us, I don't believe it. They still feel like they'll break up at any moment if she gets too bored or tired of this supernatural world. Or he might be so misleading and hard to read again and break things off again.

When they broke up I just about lost it. He says all these things about how tried he was, blah, blah, blah, makes her choose a side, and she really didn't want to choose a side *which in Lucas language: "mean's you want Derek" * and he steps up to her and said something under the lines:

"I'll always be yours/You'll always have my heart" or something like that. Oh, thanks for being weird about that. You're leaving her and you're gonna say that before leaving? That's not mysterious, that's annoying. I, personally, wouldn't even shed a tear after that. That would just make me fumed. Pissed off to a new level.

THE VILLAIN:

Oh. I forgot that she made one of these again. *by she I mean the author* I don't know if it's just me, but I think this writer needs to take a book writing class (if those things exist, I'm sure they do) And the reason to why I say this is rather simple:

A) Her Villains are as pathetic as her love interest.

B) She does that whole, "I hate you, this is why I hate you and want to ruin your life" explanation lot of writers tend to do at the end of the story when the main character is wounded or tied up somewhere-which is just bad writing,if you ask me. It's lazy, and awful to read. I don't want to know if you're going to cram the details down my throat. If I was a villain I wouldn't even bother with this whole talk to my victim. Why? Because I'm a crazy villain! *or* Why would you want to tell your victim to know? If they survive, they will either kill you and or tell someone. And plus, real killers wouldn't want to waste their breath and time with someone they so call "hated." Why even bother, right?

C) I can spot Jennifer Knights villains from a mile away.

Maybe that was because her nickname was Daniel and I vaguely remember Lucas say in book one that he dated a psycho with a name that started with a D.

How didn't she see it coming? I mean, Danni wasn't some villain covered up as a girl scout. She was shady, knew about Vampire blood, and sold it to junkies at a night club.

Not someone you want to befriend, Faith. No matter how lonesome you get without your pet dog, Lucas at your side.

On a different note I'd like to make about Faith, you know the heroine is stupid when you can figure out the story with a few hints here and there. It also shows bad writing abilities because Knight couldn't hide it well enough. Or did she want me to jump up and down screaming "ooooh! I've got it! I put the puzzle pieces together before the narrator! Silly girl!"
-___-

CHARACTERS:

Derek: When he was about to have sex with Faith (he gets all happy and exited, because they apparently had always wanted to be each other's first) Well, that sweet moment passed to where I wanted to slap Faith so hard that her "vibe" ability would snap off forever and scar her more then that bullet mark she has on her leg. After Lucas broke her "heart" (I doubt this creature named Faith has one) she tries out loving Derek. They start making out, one thing leads to another and they're about half-way unclothed. What does she do? She stops him and says: "I still love him. I still love Lucas". My thoughts?

"Good for you, you've finally figured where your "heart" is and with whom. But did it really have to take you the amount of time it did to find out? He had to take your pants off in order for this to hit you like a hurricane. Who's the monstrous bitch now? You. You Faith. It's always been you."

Sure, Derek did bite her, and sure, she was a bit turned on by it. A little high from it *which reminded me of Vampire Academy and how you can get high off Moroi vampire bites*, but come on. Talk about leading someone on! Another good thing was that he didn't do was, you know, rape her when she said no to him. Nice guy, isn't he?

Faith: She decides that since Derek isn't doing the job to report to the pack daily about what he does with the vampires, she feels like it's her duty as non-member of the pack to do the job for him. She gets the swell idea to report the information she digs up to the pack after she joins Derek on a skiing trip with the vampires.

I knew right away that this would go downhill. And oh, boy did it. Why, oh, why are you so stupid Faith? Maybe it is because you've had little old Lucas protecting you all the time, so you believe that you are practically untouchable. She has too many supernatural friends. She thinks she's immortal. One thing she must have forgotten about being moral:
She can die.

She is only human. And what do vampires like the most?

Blood. Uh. Duh, Faith.

And what is she again? Oh, right. Human. With blood just pumping through her. See how stupid this idea is? But don't worry, Lucas had decoded her little scheme, and like the overprotective boyfriend he is, he followed after the jet that she was in with the vamps and Derek, and he waited for the best time to attack. Why? Because he's just always gotta save this little brat. That's why. Can't she just be a normal human and go to movies or read a damn book. She's not even a member of the pack! Stop getting your nose in other people's problems.

Alright, okay. So, they might kill Derek if they find out he might lean onto the Vampire side. So what? (kidding) But still, you're going to risk you life for that? Talk about shitty way to go.

Lucas: He's the only understandable person here. And I know, I've been ranting about him a lot too, but it's Faith that drives him to this protect level. Or maybe it's cause he's always been like that? I don't know, he doesn't talk much about his past relationships.

Heather: A simple question for the writer. Why did you make a character so stuck on a guy who broke her heart because she didn't want to have sex with him? Is this the kind of friends Faith should be hanging out with? I know us humans aren't as steamy or interesting as your Viran's, werewolves, or vampires can be, but our mundane lives aren't this depressingly sad.

I wanted to push my hand into the book and stick chopsticks into this characters nostrils. Faith had no reason to why she should feel guilty of ignoring Heather. Heather is boring. And don't blame Pete for making you feel that way, Heather. It's called moving on. Something both you and Faith have in common.

And we didn't see much of Heather to like her either or give her a chance to redeem herself. This was all she did: get hooked onto drugs to numb Pete out of her mind, be a bitch to Faith because she thought Faith wasn't accepting her with open arms or her junkie friends, and finally the skank got turned into a vampire. And you know what that ungrateful character did? She called Faith names. Sure, I hate Faith. But this was coming from a FRIEND, someone who I really did think Faith cared about (why? I don't know why, she just always talked about how bad she felt for ditching her and ignoring her. I would've too if I had Heather as a friend, so Faith, don't feel so bad.)

A-something-bella *I think*. Haha. I really can't remember her name. Arella? Annabella? Something Bella! Alright, so this character shows up at the end of the book. She's weird. She likes werewolf blood (which, from what Derek says, tastes like dirt-nice to know he has experience dirt inside of his mouth to fully understand it's flavor). She's like the queen of vampires. Didn't see much of her to like her. She was just really weird and reminded me of Victoria from Twilight because she screamed at Faith *or Derek/Lucas* that she will kill them for murdering her mate/first creation. A life for a life, kind of rant.

Danni: Three words: Not SCARY enough. Really not scary at all. I quote she said at one point: "You're a bitch. I hate you Faith. I'm going to kill you." -____- She wasn't a villain, and she was developed poorly before she was killed off. Why was she so "crazy" and "evil"? What did Lucas do to make her so crazy? (we never know) I wouldn't have been so hard on her if the ending didn't suck so bad.

Julian and Katie: She should die, they should both die. I don't hate her or Julian. Don't get me wrong, I hate practically everyone in the book. But her and her brother should die. Along with his new boo thing *the one he married at the end*...That would be fun to read. Also, I don't see them as interesting characters, they're the side characters you don't care about enough if they died. They could die and I wouldn't really even gasp, well if Faith, Derek, Lucas, Heather, (ect.) died I wouldn't flinch. But where would the story go after that? Nowhere. Like it does in every book.

THE PLOT:

I've finally discovered why someone would like these books. The plot is very jagged, uneven, ridiculous at times, filled with tones of pointless crap and side characters I would have liked to forget. I really could go on forever. Now, some of you might be asking, well, if it so jagged and uneven, and ridiculous like you've just said, why would I want to read it? Well, the answer is quite simple.

Because there really isn't a boring part to the book (other than the flat characters). Why I say this is easy to explain. There's just so much stuff crammed into this book that you have to follow along with all of the unnecessary details and events. Some people might like that, I didn't though.

I felt like the amount of crap this writer had to put in there to make this done before story interesting and entertaining was yawn worthy.

I genuinely felt sorry for Knight eventually when I noticed how hard she tried to keep my attention and need to love her characters. With each plot twist and conflict that was pilled on, I felt myself slipping away, lost in the clutter of pointlessness enlaced in her story.

At that point, I didn't care for any of the card board characters. Even Derek pissed me off to the point of no return, he was so depressingly needy and selfish, I wanted to knee him in the balls (if he has any).

And I know I'm the demographic this book is targeted to. And you know what I've gotta say?

I want the werewolf and vampires writing to stay on fanfic website and no longer waster on paper and filling all of the space in the teen section of the library. I'd like more depth in the books I read. I miss that. I'm not saying there can't be any more paranormal stories. Just make sure the stories aren't rip-offs, or badly written, or...you know, cheesy.

IN THE END/OVERALL: (my actual thoughts while reading the last few chapters)...

So, I think a chapter or so after Faith and Lucas have sex, they sneak off campus and get on their way to Gould. And though they've been followed out, Lucas doesn't tell Faith this. He keeps on driving. The stalkers stop after a while, but once night creeps up on them, the stalkers pick up again. Oh, now Lucas thinks it's time to tell Faith about what's been following them when she's gotten a little hysterical about the head lights in their rearview mirror. Blah blah blah, the vampires get them, (more attempts to grab my interest) BOOM! She's in some kind of lair thing, (blah blah blah) BOOM again! She's bitten by a vampire....(yawn) So, the next day, *I'm too lazy to explain that horribly written fight scene. It was so confusing with jumbled up madness everywhere, I just didn't want to go on...

Any who, she finds out the next morning that Derek gave her his blood, which is also apparently the cure to vampirism. Not only that, you can't believe it! He can take people's forms. So he can shape shift. Hold on, there's more. He can hypnotize. That's right boys and girls. He's been holding most of this till it would be useful. (AGAIN, FOR THE THRID TIME, WHAT THE FUCK!!???!!) YOU CAN'T JUST RANDOMLY DO THAT, IT'S TERRIBLE. OH, I KNOW HOW TO WORK THIS OUT!!!!! JUST MAKE DEREK HAVE A CRAP LOAD OF ABILITIES, JUST CAUSE HE'S THIS STRANGE NEW CREATURE. THAT'S REASONABLE.

NO IT'S NOT REASONABLE, NOT EVEN REMOTELY CREATIVE, IF YOU ASK ME! IT'S JUST YOU LAZILY PUTTING THINGS TOGETHER, FILLING IN THE PLOT HOLES, MAKING THINGS MAKE SENSE IN A FUCKING HORRIBLE WAY. I HATED IT WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING AS I FLIPPED THOSE PAGES TO GET THIS BOOK OVER WITH!!!!!

IT'S IDIOTIC! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW BADLY I WANTED TO FLING THIS BOOK AND BURN IT TO ASHES (but, sadly I couldn't. This was the library's book.) BUT STILL, THE THOUGHT DID LINGER IN MY BRAIN. I WANTED TO GO TO MY NEAR BY BOOK STORE AND JUST BURN ANYTHING THAT HAD VAMPIRES OR HYBRIDS OR WEREWOLVES MENTIONED IN THE TITLE AND OR BLURBS ...But, once again, I restrained myself. AND NOT ONLY THAT, THERE'S MORE! AFTER THE WEDDING, AND INTO THE RECEPTION, FAITH LEARNS THAT DEREK AND LUCAS WILL BE GONE IN SOME FAR OFF PART IN RUSSIAN OR SOMETHING FOR ABOUT FIFTEEN YEARS (I WOULD GET PISSED TOO, BUT REALLY, FAITH, IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. YOU NEED MORE COOL HUMANS IN YOUR LIVES. NOT THESE POSERS OF SUPERNATURALS.) So, I had a little sympathy for her acting all angry on him for hold back on tell her. They should trust each other, even if he knew she'd make up some kind of scheme to find him. Honesty is something these two should work on.

But, what I will not be forgiving towards is that she didn't go and cry in some room inside Gould, where it's safe. But she ran into the woods and got all sad about life. You know why? Because she wanted to hurt herself, she was tired of Lucas trying to protect her, she wanted to deliberately hurt herself. She literally says that in the book.

No Joke.

Like really!??!!!

WHY? WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO GOD DAMN EMO ABOUT EVERYTHING!? TAKE A CHILL PILL, MAYBE A DRINK OR TWO, AND RELAX FOR ONCE. Maybe that's her problem. She stresses out too much.

And do you know what happens in the woods? Danni reveals everything and shit happens...blah blah...she's bitten.

*taking in deep breath*

There...That's what I've gotta say about this book.

The ending of this book just leaves me with more questions. We know she turns into something she has not put a final decision on. But how will Lucas react to this and lets just say Im ready for the next book.

Review Posted on Reading Lark 12/7/12: http://readinglark.blogspot.com/2012/...

Blood Crave picks up right where Blood on the Moon left off. I really appreciated the lack of downtime because of the cliffhanger in the previous book. I was anxious to find out what happened to one of my favorite characters. This edition still had the "Twilight Goes to College" feel to it, but again there was something compelling enough to keep me flipping the pages. I love the werewolves and the politics surrounding the pack; the scenes in Gould were some of my favorite aspects of the book. Also, I adore Lucas. He is truly what makes this series in my opinion.

There are so many things I want to say about this book, but I didn't want to spoil anyone who hasn't read book one. Some MAJOR things happen to a few characters. Every time things seem to calm down, Knight throws another curve ball into the mix. Furthermore, the ending of this one left me so frustrated that I threw the book. Knight is a master of the cliff hanger. I cannot believe that this one ended the way it did - yet again - another major character's life hangs in the balance. I can only hope there is another book. I need resolution.

This installment also steps up the conflict quite a bit. The wolves are still trying to figure out what the vampires are up to and Faith is learning more about her ability as an empath; throw in some typical college drama, a love triangle, and some steamy romance and you walk away with an entertaining read. However, I do think it needs to be said that even though this is billed as a YA book, it reads more like a New Adult book in my opinion. The level of intimacy, drug use, and profanity isn't what I would recommend to younger teen readers. These characters are in college and their actions and words fit that age group, but I felt compelled to mention that fact.

One of my biggest complaints about this series is Faith. I want to like her and every time she convinces me to give her a chance, she turns around and does something irrational or stupid. You can't tell me one minute you're heartbroken over one guy and then start making out with another one. I don't care how conflicted you are - that is not reality - or its not my reality. Perhaps that is the true crux of the situation - I don't see anything of myself in Faith so I cannot relate to her. I often find myself wishing that Derek or Lucas would take over the narration. Since these novels are written in first person perspective I can't escape Faith's thoughts. She does have some redeemable qualities and I think she has massive potential to be a strong female protagonist; I just would like to see more consistency and rationale thinking develop in her character.

In the end, I liked this one, but I didn't love it. I felt like the middle dragged on and on. I found myself zoning out during vampire sections and craving more time with Lucas and the wolves. I just don't find these vampires to be intriguing; they are just villains who serve no other purpose than to be bad guys. There was a little too much Volturi and Sookie Stackhouse moments for me to take them seriously. I don't think these allusions are anything that Knight is doing on purpose, but it is hard for me to not make those leaps when I have read so many paranormal novels. It is hard to put a totally new spin on this genre and I applaud Knight's efforts; I would just like to see her break free of the typical paranormal mold in the future. There is so much potential lurking in her writing and characters. I feel like it doesn't get the chance to shine when the typical plot devices continue to make appearances. The last chapter of this one took me completely by surprise - I want more of this sort of writing in the future. It was full of conflict, drama, and description; I liked that I didn't predict this outcome at all. I do feel that Knight's writing is stronger in Blood Crave than it was in Blood on the Moon; I am looking forward to watching her grow as a writer.

I would recommend this book to fans of werewolves, paranormal romance, and to anyone whose dreaming of a hot male lead to keep them company on these long, cold winter nights. This is the perfect time of year to dive into this series.

One Last Gripe: I hate that terms, like Blood Bitches and Bloodies, are used frequently. I can't help rolling my eyes and wondering why these terms were chosen. They just seem trite to me and I feel that they disrupt the flow of my reading.

My Favorite Thing About This Book: The evolution of Lucas

First Sentence: It starts with heat.

Note: There are major spoilers for the first book in this series, Blood on the Moon, but no spoilers for this book, which is Book Two.

Before reading Blood Crave, I re-read Blood on the Moon, because it ended in a cliffhanger, and with those sorts of books, I like to get into the momentum before continuing on with the story.

Blood Crave continues the story of Faith Reynolds, who, like many young pretty girls in books these days, finds her life taken over by interactions with werewolves and vampires.

At first, Faith had a relatively normal life with nothing more to deal with than her best friend Derek, who came with her to attend Colorado State University. Suddenly Derek was trying (again) to turn their friendship into something more. Faith just didn’t think she could love Derek in that way.

Moreover, as classes started, she felt an undeniable attraction to Lucas, a very hot and mysterious guy who shared some of her classes. Eventually she discovered Lucas was a werewolf, but she learned that, far from being a monster, he was a protector. She trusts him with her life. …And well she should, because he keeps having to save it! No, not from jealous Derek, but from vampires, and especially one particular vampire, Vincent Stone. Vincent has a 300-year-old feud going on with Lucas, and he figures out that he can get to Lucas by killing Faith (or turning her into a vampire). Lucas is unwilling to let Vincent do either, and he finally manages to get rid of Vincent once and for all - but not before Vincent bites Derek.

At the end of Book One, Faith - desperate to save Derek’s life, asks Lucas to bite him too, in the hope that the werewolf bite will cancel out the vampire bite. Will it? Proceed to Book Two!

Blood Crave picks up three weeks after Blood on the Moon left off. Derek is still around, but in a very different form. Faith is torn between loyalty to Derek and love for Lucas. She sometimes longs for her old normal life, but can’t imagine a life without Derek or Lucas. Unfortunately, she is painfully aware that she is bound to lose them both eventually, since she has only a human life span, something she thinks about a lot. In any event, there are bigger problems to consider: the vampires are tired of living [sic] in the shadows, and are ready for a showdown with werewolves and humans.

Discussion: Like so many books involving vampires, this story quickly devolves into a morass of vampire politics. Why do so many authors who create blood-sucking, rapacious, greedy characters think of politicians? I can’t imagine. At any rate, it’s just as distasteful to me and as tedious as American politics are lately. Okay, maybe a little less so….

Fortunately, the author doesn’t linger as long on vampire power struggles as much as some other purveyors of the paranormal, and focuses more on the dangerous and exciting aspects of romance between species.

As for the main character, Faith can be annoying: she is impulsive, foolhardy, and not always optimally mature. Ultimately, however, one has to like her: she is loyal, spunky, has a lot of compassion, and great taste in boyfriends.

The author has a very nice sense of humor that acts to surround the paranormal elements with a warm, fuzzy, teenaged vibe. For example, I appreciated how she tackled this plot point in Book One, when Faith asks Lucas why vampires can't come into someone's house unless they are invited:

I don't know why - it's an undead thing. Whatever."

Faith's summing up, in Book Two, of her own situation is quite funny, and nicely accomplishes a recap of what happened in Book One. And all the doggy jokes (that come from characters trying to make deprecatory remarks about werewolves) had me laughing - I love the way one of the characters refers to Lucas as "Scooby," inter alia.

Evaluation: This is a fun series: light, romantic, even sexy. The second book, like the first, ends in a big cliffhanger, one that makes me eager for the third volume.

Rating: 3.5/5

Note: There is sex in this book, but it’s not at all explicit, and at any rate Faith is a college freshman and Lucas is over 300 years old…..

I have to say this book was very addicting. It had all of the paranormal elements I love with werewolves and vampires mixed in with a human heroine that is a little bit different also. Faith was such a cool heroine and I loved the ability that she had. I loved that she was also a strong heroine but understood when she needed help it was ok to receive it. We start this book out with meeting Faith who is out with her boyfriend Lucas hunting down a vampire. They are trying to prove that a vampire uprising is going on to Lucas's werewolf pack. There are some events that take place and lead to Lucas being tried and sentenced to a night chained with silver and unable to run with his pack on the full moon. I have to say I felt so sorry for Lucas having to go through this but loved that Faith was there to help him through it. I loved Lucas. He was such a strong character and really loved Faith. I didn't like the way he would sometimes treat Faith though. He was a straight up jerk to her at times even if I understood is reasoning behind it that didn't make it right.

Faith was also dealing with her friend Derek and how he would be when he awoke. Derek we learn has become a vampire and werewolf hybrid. He has been asleep for a while and when he woke up nobody was sure how he would be. I liked that Derek was ok when he woke up and was still a lot like the Derek that Faith knew and loved as her best friend. I have to say that I liked Derek more than Lucas and loved him with Faith. I wished they would have gotten together. Derek was off the charts awesome too with all his amazing abilities and good looks. He was such a good friend to Faith and I loved the way he stood up for her.

Faith,Derek and Lucas end up having to work together to try to bring down the vampires. I liked the way that Derek was willing to work with the vampires to try to bring them down if it meant keeping Faith safe. Faith learns that she is wanted by the vampires for her abilities because they want her on their side. I liked that Faith didn't let anything get her down and kept plowing through everything that was thrown her way. Overall I loved this book. It was a fast read with great characters and a great plot. The author had a great writing style and showed both sides of the vampires and werewolves and how different they really are. She also created a unique character in Derek with him being a mix of both sides. This story kept me hooked and wanting to read more to see what would happen next. I recommend this read to others.

I received this book for review from Running Press and Netgalley and this in no way infulenced my review.

Title: Bloodcrave

Author: Jennifer Knight

Series: Blood On The Moon #2

Publication: August 14th, 2012 by Running Press Kids

Pages: 496

Source: My Bookshelf

Summary:

Headstrong heroine Faith Reynolds returns in this thrilling sequel to the paranormal romance Blood on the Moon!
Faith is not without help, in the form of her newfound powers of sensing people’s emotions and being able to influence werewolves’ actions, not to mention her begrudging but rather helpful boyfriend.

My Thoughts:

The ending of this book blindsided me. That was the first time I had ever read something like that, especially in the middle book of a series. I was hooked after the first book, but I think I have just found my newest addiction.

Faith is one of my favorite heroines simply because she is not perfect. She makes mistakes, she admits those mistakes and sort of embraces her own flaws – I love that about her. Most main characters, especially the female ones, are the stereotypical perfect little angels. Faith has some serious demons, and one hell of a temper – but she also doesn’t let it control her every move, though it may seem that way. She is not afraid to admit when she is wrong, and she has some very selfless tendencies.

As for the rest of the characters, I love them just as much in this book as I did in the first. How can you not love Lucas? I like Derek too, but he annoys me too much sometimes haha. There is a time when you need to learn to let things go, and I don’t think he has fully hit that point yet.

Overall, this book was amazing. When I started it, I didn’t want to finish it. I wanted it to last forever because it was so good. I have not had a story pull me in like that in the longest time, it is a feeling I cherish. I can not wait for the third one to come out, hopefully it comes sooner rather than later. I don’t know how long I can wait with that sort of cliff hanger.

I'm more than a little bit in love with this series and Jennifer Knight is proving herself to be a talented writer. I love my werewolves and this series deals with the whole vampire and werewolf trope really well. I enjoyed Blood on the Moon a lot and was extremely excited about the sequel. I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed.

The first novel left off on an exciting note and Blood Crave does a great job of amping up the action and suspense. I thought the plot was well paced with a good mix of romance, mystery, and suspense. Though I thought the story was a little long, it held my attention the entire way through. The writing was also consistently good. My only complaint with the plot is that . Still, I enjoyed myself and the way it came about was exciting. Once again, I think the story ends with a great cliffhanger!

As far as the characters go, I was a bit annoyed with Faith this time around, particularly in how she handled her guilt about Derek. I felt she could have been a little less "me" about it. Sometimes it was like she was only trying so hard because of guilt and not completely out of friendship. I didn't like that. Lucas also tried my patience a little as well with his jealousy and some of his choices in terms of Faith and his werewolf duties. I thought Derek, who was my least favorite character in the first book, was really enjoyable here. Out of everyone, I felt for him the most and wanted things to work out well. I also felt like he was the most honest and staight forward out of all of the characters. The side characters were interesting as well, specifically Katie. I'm eager to see what happens with her.

In terms of romance, I think the author has done a great job of drawing attention to issues that are important for Lucas and Faith, and creates realistic tension and drama. They've got a lot of things they need to come to terms with. I'm anxious to see how it all works out. It's nice to see a female in a paranormal romance that's not so eager to become some other than human.

All in all, I enjoyed Blood Crave a lot. I would definitely recommend this to those who are into werewolves and vampires and want to curl up to a well written YA novel. I can't wait for the next one!

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS

“Blood Crave” by, Jennifer Knight

*First I need to tell you that this book is a sequel. The first book in this series is called “Blood on the Moon” and I really enjoyed it.

This series follows Faith Reynolds, her werewolf boyfriend Lucas, and her best friend Derek. In “Blood on the moon” Faith finds out about the supernatural world, learns about a vampire uprising, and falls in love with Lucas. At the end of the first book Derek is bitten by both a vampire and a werewolf, and we are left with lots of questions. “Blood crave” lets us know what happens to Derek and we find out more about the vampire threat. We also get to delve deeper into the relationship between Faith and Lucas which is my favorite part.

Let me start out by saying that overall I liked “Blood crave” and I will continue reading the series. I felt like the book had a good flow and it kept my interest till the last page. (It also had an unexpected twist that was my favorite part of the book) I enjoyed the romance between Faith and Lucas and was happy to see it grow deeper. I also felt that the changes with Derek were very interesting and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for him in the next book.

Now to the thing that bothered me. I really felt like all three of the main characters spent too much time throwing emotional tantrums. Faith, Lucas, and Derek kept doing things that made me want to reach in the book and shake them. That being said, I have to give the author props for eliciting emotion from me. (I was not bored) I have heard some readers say that they get annoyed with too much teen angst in a book. I feel that if you are going to read a teen novel that you have to go into it expecting the angst and just go with it.

Like I said above, I enjoyed “Blood crave” and I am excited to read the third book in the series. Jennifer Knight is a talented new author and I am happy to have her books in my collection. (Just a side note: “Blood crave” has some sexual content but it’s tastefully done and is safe for younger readers)

Not nearly as entertaining as the first Blood Crave fell a little flat but still made for a fun read. After Faith’s best friend Derek has been made into a vampire-werewolf hybrid Faith must convince the werewolves to accept him or she must choose between Derek and Lucas. Though the novel held potential I felt like there was too much talking and not nearly as much action as there could have been.

My number one complaint with this novel was the development of a love triangle, I’m not a big fan of love triangles, especially when it’s obvious who’s going to end up with who the entire time. I felt like the author didn’t know how to make the novel more exciting so she threw in some friction between Faith and Lucas and created a love triangle. Derek isn’t one of my favorite characters and the longer the love triangle dragged on the more frustrated I became with him.

Faith was an extremely whiny character in this novel. Every time something went wrong she always complained about it instead of looking for a way to fix it. Likewise Lucas and Derek both took on some pretty undesirable personality traits, Lucas was a jerk the entire novel and Derek would not leave Faith alone, even when she said no. While I did enjoy the romance that was there was so much friction around it that it was almost hidden beneath everything else.

The plot was by far the strongest aspect of the novel. Even though the characters and romance left much to be desired the plot, while a little boring parts, worked really well. I liked being able to learn more about the vampires Knight had created and the development of Derek’s powers. With an exciting ending and a plot twist I never saw coming I’m eager to see what happens in the next novel!

Blood Crave definitely wasn’t the strongest novel but it was an entertaining enough read. Fans of Twilight and other vampire/werewolf novels will no doubt adore this addition to the huge amount of vampire fiction out there.

Thanks first of all to Running Press and Netgalley for allowing me the chance to read and review this book!

I remember thinking, when I read Blood on the Moon, that this was a peculiar series. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it and some parts I adored. I feel the same way about this book with the addition of annoyance. I despise love triangles and I DESPISE excessive moodiness. This book has an excess of both.

At then end of the last book we are left with Derek-bitten by a werewolf and a vampire and the genes that is mutating inside his body. That is right where this book starts off. Everything goes horrible wrong too.

How could it not? Lucus becomes a jelous maniac, our little miss Faith simply can't choose between Derek and Lucus and grrr the whole thing...I don't know. I don't even know. There are plenty of things I can pin point that I don't like but this book just gave me a wrongness feeling.

And that's not to say that I don't enjoy it. I did enjoy it. I enjoyed the times when we got to see just Faith and Lucus. I even like a little angst. I especially like that those "experimentations" that Lucus and Faith try out. That's all good.

And the writing is this book, while easy is still very engaging. I wasn't bored. I felt like Miss Knight has grown in her writing and her characters have grown as well.

Derek drove me nuts. And so did Lucus. But...love triangles. They really have there own appeal. I like it ok...two hot guys, both panting after you? Yeah, that's okay. But...still. Don't waste three hundred pages. And yes we knew who she was going to choose but, com'on!!

Overall, four stars for great writing, fun characters, and wonderful romance! A bizarre intense entertaining read. Great job Miss Knight!

I really loved Blood on the Moon and could not wait to read Blood Crave. For the first 2/3rds of the book I could not stand how Faith was acting one way when she was with Derek and a different way when she was with Lucas. Then finally around page 300 or a little after she became the strong Faith I liked from the first book. Once she is confronted with both Lucas's and Derek's decisions about their relationship with her, is Faith able to come to terms with what she wants from life and the places Derek and Lucas hold in her heart. The last 150 or so pages were amazing. The end was fascinating and in a way surprising and and not surprising I hope there is another book but even if there is not enough questions were answered for it to have a satisfying ending.

Faith is a girl with a special gift is able to feel the emotions of people around her and to influence werewolves’ actions is naive sincere and kind with her family friends and Lucas.

Lucas is a wereloft , has 300 years is attractive ,posssesive loving and somestimes a jerk with Faith when is very jealousy especially when Faith is around the Derek.

Lucas tried to protect her even when is with Derek folowing her everywhere saving her from danger.

The relationship between the main character Faith and Lucas is beautiful and dangerous. This couple is real because they fight, they have misunderstandings break up but they love each other and resolve theirs problems with love and patience.Lucas gives Faith hope to believe in love and their relationship.

I did not read the first book in the series Blood on the Moon, but the author established relationship’s and made the backstory clear enough so that I never felt lost.

I did not like the heroine. Faith was whiny, short sighted, and selfish. I never felt bad for her as she endured her trails (most of which could have been avoided if she didn’t cut people off so quickly). I wanted Lucas and Derek to find another chick to fight over. The story was full of adventure, drama, and twists. And the other characters were very likable, even the villains (in a love to hate sort of way).

If you like Twilight, then you’ll like this book.

I liked the story. While still very Twilight-esque. It was different enough. I actually liked it a lot and I'm excited for the next one (even though it hasn't been announced yet). It was VERY poorly edited though: missing words, "that" instead of "the" and "their" instead of "they're". It's really unfortunate, because it kind of ruined the book.

There was also a little too much teen angst going on. Faith was annoying and stupid at times. It is a YA book, though, so some of that is to be expected.

More original than the first. Hopefully the next one will be just as original, but better-edited.

With all of the hype of Vampires and Werewolves, I’m always curious when I will come across a book that just finally makes me say, “no more.” Thankfully, this wasn’t one of them. This book is packed with supernatural from chapter one to the last page and always keeps the reader anticipating what is yet to come. It was definitely hard to put down.

Sometimes I just wanted to throttle Faith. I hoped that since I liked her considerably more at the end of Blood on the Moon, that I might like her throughout this whole book. . . I thought wrong. I enjoyed the book, and can't wait for the sequel, but I cannot get past the fact that Faith has a brain, but apparently, doesn't feel the need to use it. I do have to give her props for my favorite line in the book when she threatens to stab someone with a stiletto, that pretty much rocked.

Nope. Just nope. Derek is just.. and then Lucas.... and just... Derek is an idiot, Lucas is a jealous mofo, and Faith is just really ignorant. Like no. The ending was unexpected is just like the first book and leaves you wanting more. I started reading it soon a few months after I read Blood on the Moon, but stopped because it was so stupid and gave up. Then I felt like finishing it a few months later, and hence the beginning of this review. Its just.. WHY WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!?

This book is really good. I wish Faith stop making her boyfriend jealous. There is so much tension around Lucas and Derek and it is so good. I just can't put the book down.
