The first family of the Mount Zion Progressive Baptist Church lives to preach. But when it comes to practice, they could use a little divine intervention…
Minister King Brook’s daughter, Princess, is about to marry the man she thinks she loves…until a disaster leaves her lavish wedding—and her life—in shambles. Her ex, Kelvin, has returned to win her back. Her fiancée, Rafael, is determined to tie the knot. And when Princess’s grandfather, the Reverend Doctor Pastor Bishop Overseer Mister Stanley Obadiah Meshach Brook, Jr., adds his own unexpected contribution to the matrimonial mayhem, all you-know-what breaks loose…
Meanwhile, Princess’s mother, Tai, is working hard to keep it all together. As if her daughter’s wedding bell blues aren’t enough, menopause has her losing her sex drive, gaining weight, and battling insecurities. But King’s too busy to talk, her mother-in-law is in a fight of her own, and her best friend is dealing with a major family crisis. Tai learns that when God is all you’ve got, He’s all you need. All, that is, except some decisions and some actions that aren’t always so divine…
This is the second book I've read from Lovely and I must say I really respect her as an author. I was not familiar with this families previous story line but with the way it is written , this can easily pass for a stand alone book. Any past relationships were blended seamlessly into the current story.
I can not wait to read the next installment in this series.
Divine Intervention is the latest installment in the Hallelujah Love series. As with the very first book in the series, Sex In the Sanctuary, I have mixed feelings about this.
Lovely is a good storyteller. Her skills have grown since that first novel in this series and she weaves a compelling, believable story about people in and around the church community. These people, for the most part, are believers in Christ and for the most part, as in real life, they act like it. Also as in real life, at times they don't, but when they go astray there are consequences, none of which Lovely glosses over. All of this makes for an enjoyable read.
However, this is not typical Christian fiction, if for no other reason than the explicit sex scenes here, quite explicit. They are well-written, but they offer more details than most inspirational fans look for in a faith-based read.
That's not to detract from the book, but rather to help readers understand what it is and what it is not. Because as a whole, Divine Intervention remains an inspirational read. It portrays a real and palpable faith, the consequences of going against that faith and the joys of living within it. That is what, for me, constitutes a satisfying inspirational read.
Love the Hallelujah Series. Divine Intervention was full of surprises, drama and love. The relationship between Kelvin and Princess was so awesome. They are truly soul mates. King will never learn. Tai is such a wonderful character that I'm looking forward to having wonderful things happen for her. Derrick and Vivian have such a wonderful relationship. Mama Max is a mess that I love reading about. Obadiah is a good man that needs help along with his son.
Lutishia Lovely, is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoint.
I love, love, love Lutishia Lovelys books. First it is great to read books and know the places that are being talked about. I live in Kansas City and know the Plaza, Gates BBQ, and the other places that she describes so well. But the characters are the real reason that I keep going. I feel like they are friends of mine and when they laugh or cry I too have the same emotions.
I read this series and even though I read it out of sequence it doesn't really matter. King and his daddy are just alike. Darn shame. King is a horrible husband, bottom line. He says he was seduced but let's be real, he knew what time it was from the moment he was escorted to that limo. If he wasn't down he either would have stayed at a hotel or not let Charmaine in when she came with the tea.

I loved the way this story ended. I’m just saddened by King and Tai’s breakup. Somehow I figured that it would have ended that way. But divine intervention worked throughout this book. I’m on to the next book. I’ve been a slave to this series!!!
Just as Princess Brooks and Raphael Stevens are about to say ”I Do” Derrick Montgomery collapses to the floor and everything stops. Rafael has patiently waited to bed his bride to be and can’t believe his misfortune. The fact that her beloved Uncle Derrick,(who just so happens to be the love of her life’s father) has a serious medical condition has ruined his dream of this night. The wedding has been stopped and some think it’s divine intervention!
Kelvin screwed up when he and Princess were together, and feels like he’s been given a second chance to be the man she needs to marry. When they saw each other again, it was all fate needed.
Tai has been a dutiful and faithful wife, but when King goes on a business trip for the church, he gets a little island favor that could ruin everything and lose the love of his life, Tai
Mama Max is ready to get a divorce. she’s tired of waiting on The Reverend Doctor Pastor Bishop Overseer Mister Stanley Obadiah Meshach Brook Jr to make up his lost mind and oversee his own home. He’s shacking up with Dorothea and life is not grand. He misses his Maxie and when he comes home for the wedding to see another man pulling at her skirt and up to his dinner table, things get real to him. He needs to undo what he’s done but someone is going to pay with their life
Lutishia knows how to tell a “Lovely” story, she keeps you wanting for more. This is the 7th installment of her Hallelujah series, and it just keeps getting more and more complicated and divine. 5 stars sister, 5 stars!

Lutishia Lovely has taken us back to Kansas and sent us into a whirlwind again! I am just breathless! The characters are definitely a Lifetime movie because they keep you on the edge of your seats and talking to the book! She draws you into the story and keeps you there wanting to help out and praying right along with everyone in the story. I love this series and look forward to more, more, more! Great job, keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!
The Montgomery and Brooks family are back in the latest Hallelujah series by Lutishia Lovely. From the first opening chapter I knew that the good Lord had to do some serious divine intervention with all the drama that was destined to unfold. Things take a turn for the worse (or has it) when Princess wedding to her love Raphael is abruptly stopped by unforseen forces and things are put on hold, much to the pleasing of her ex Kelvin who intends on making his wrongs right. Concerned about her daughter love life, Tai tries to make sure her daughter keeps her mind focused on whom she feels is the right man, but soon realized her eyes need to stay on her own ministering husband, the eye roaming King. King is fighting his own temptations (and losing again) while trying to keep his mother, Mama Max from finally divorcing his father, The Reverend Doctor Pastor Bishop Overseer Mister Stanley Obadiah Meshach Brook Jr who soon realizes home is where his heart is. Mama Max is not hearing it, because it looks like she has gotta her groove back when a neighbor's son, Henry comes on the scene. Shocked at reaping what he has sowed, the “IthinkImessedupagoodthing” Rev O isn't giving up so easy, neither is his decades old mistress Doreatha. If life isn't throwing enough curves, on the other side of town, Vivian and Derrick Montgomery's family tackle a potential life threatening issue that inadvertently pull the two families together, but things don't stay so holy for long. Fiery flames start to fuel when the secrets of hidden lies are revealed, vengeance begins to pour in some hearts and forgiveness in others. When all is said and done, unless the good Lord does some divine intervention, a few people in the end will have hell to pay. I must say all the books I have read from the author are page turners, I'm amazed how she can take so many characters and draw out their personalities and blend their lives into one plot. As always when you get to the end you say, “No she didn't!” and as usual, Lutishia does it again. She always have you hanging on for more!
This book was packed with drama. King Brooks, Derrick Montgomery, Mama Max and Reverend Doctor Pastor Bishop Overseer Mister Stanley Obadiah Mesharch Brooks Jr are back. Everyone comes together for Princess Brooks wedding to her long-time friend Rafael. A divine intervention happens and sets everyone's life on roller coaster ride. This book is the 7th in the Hallelujah series. Lutishia does a good job recapping the story to help you remember the characters. It had been a while since I read the last book. I enjoyed reading about the all the drama the church folks go through. Even though these men are pastors they still have to deal with a lot to stay on the straight and narrow.
I will continue reading the series. I have enjoyed reading the series so fair. These books are about pastors but are not classified as christian fiction. The author has stated this. So if you're looking for the religious holier than thou book this one or any of them in the series is not it. If your looking for a good story with plenty of family and spiritual drama then this series is one you should add to your reading list.
Lutishia Lovely has done it again, this book is number seven in the Hallelujah Series. This book Divine Intervention, brought back Princess and her drama with her two men. Princess all set to get married when her uncle passes out and puts a halt to everything. If I was not a Christian and did not know better, I probably would not step foot in a church unless I was going for the drama, I know this is part of everyday life and the struggle to stay true to God, but I really need them to try a little harder. This was a very good book and I look forward to the next one in the series.
Divine Intervention takes you on a family journey so rocky and detailed you're sure to never put it down. Lutishia Lovely's creativeness and boldness with faith, family, and friendships makes her divinely one of the hottest authors out. The ending leaves you salivating for much much more! Wonderful read!
All I can say is that church folks are something else. Minsters need to be really routed and grounded to overcome temptation. (King and his father, Obadiah). Both were womanizers. Thought they could have their cake and eat it too. Derek and Vivian were the ideal couple in every way. I believe Kelvin and Princess will be okay in the end. Great read.
I really got angry in some parts of the book. I put it down several times and was like I am so done with some of the characters! okay I will read the next book in the series because it is part of my book club reading list. uugghh.
The day had finally come for Passion and Rafael wedding. Passion had been having bad dreams that Kelvin was going to interrupt her wedding and confess his love for her. The wedding started but before the wedding was over Pastor Derrick Montgomery her uncle collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital, and her Dad couldn't finish the wedding. Passion father King went on a trip to the island and he saw Pastor Wesley Freeman daughter he remembered when she was little but now a grown gorgeous woman who was interested in him and kept after him till she finally got him in bed with her. King knew that one day it will come back to haunt him. But he made a promise to his wife that he would never cheat on her again. But he tried to end it with her but what ended was his marriage. So much drama going on in this book, can't wait to read the next one in the series.
It was okay in parts, because I was interested to see a Christian romance narrative. But overall too detailed and I got lost in the plot. It should be noted that I suspect it's part of a series where new characters are introduced and built in over time, so that's probably where my confusion stems from.
Divine Intervention is the seventh installment in the Ms. Lovely's Hallejulah series and I must say this book had several different emotions at the fore front. Divine Intervention picks up a year later with Rev O and Mama Max still at odds and Princess Brook about to walk the aisle. I can say this book had me feeling alot of emotions, from laughter to anger. This book had the most appropriate title where it makes the reader sit and ponder was the outcome really Divine Intervention.
I can definitely say Ms. Lovely wrote and outstanding piece when you have the reader's reaction so strongly that they have constantly remind themself that this is fiction. Good job well done!!!
Divine Intervention was another awesome story in the Hallelujah Series....God continues to mend broken relationships, open the eyes of the blind, and heal sick bodies... The Montogomery's, Brook's, and Peterson family is still spreading God's word while dealing with their own trial and sins, but through it all they are over comers! Great Read.
Enjoyed the whole bookvKing was my biggest disappointment some hav it all and ur truly blessed then u go and mess it up honestly I hope she make another with him in it to c how the grass s not always greener
I am disappointed in the message i received from this book. It had a lot of interesting drama that ended with man are allowed to do what ever they want to with no real consequence for their actions. I am not happy with the message but enjoyed the story.
